VLTC C-5, ECVC-5 ‘Ascendance’

[OOC: My thanks to Dartia for helping with a minor PhotoShop to even out the picture a bit.]
History
The Ascendance originates from the concept of a solar-powered bus deep in the bowels of the Design Bureau of the East Carriage Vehicle Company (ECVC). The Design Bureau had originally envisioned a vehicle which would have been powered both by the rays of the sun and be able to recharge during the day and night via wheel movement. However, the East Carriage Vehicle Company had difficulty in acquiring the capacity and technology to develop solar-powered technology to a practical level. So in the four-star-rated Hotel de la Poste, in the VLT Automotive birthplace of Esch-sur-Alzette, an industrious city near Luxembourg, a meeting was commenced one peaceful, hot summer, post-Second War of Corporatist Aggression. Over several glass bowls of rainbow-sprinkled, vanilla, Belgian chocolate and strawberry ice cream banana split, a collaborative effort of a deal was born. While the latter idea was incorporated into the final Ascendance plan, the ideal of a primarily-solar-powered bus was abandoned after a long duration of debate between the Van Luxemburgian Transportation Automotive Group and the ECVC.
Why was this friendliness to the environment envisioned?
That day was hotter than usual, far hotter than any other day. The argument of global warming/climate change and its associated topics was significantly picking up steam in places like the Republic of Pacitalia. It was an event where the odds were in favor of the business delegates of the Southeast Asian automobile manufacturer. The Van Luxemburgian corporate institution, had a different opinion of “environmentally-friendly vehicles” like hybrids, but nevertheless was convinced into going along with the ECVC Design Bureau’s vision. Business was business, for both corporations, and combined with VLT capacity and Southeast Asian innovation, the seeds for the C-5 Ascendance were sowed and the fruits reaped.
Finally, as the back-story comes to a close…why the name “Ascendance”?
Well, the answer to that also lay in global warming. According to one Southeast Asian who worked on the Ascendance and prefers not to be named, he stated that the name lay in the vision itself. “It had always been a dream of mine, and for the rest of this team, to be part of the new generation to face new and ever daunting challenges…as I had noticed in my school days, people often looked to the past to set an example and as a guideline to grow and change…it is a belief that global warming is a challenge humanity has to deal with, and though it may be late for that, we believe that we can prevent it or at least mitigate its consequences. Ever since the Industrial Revolution, technology has been always advancing higher and higher...and humans have always found somebody to be their leader and to emulate…as I feel that we have ascended so high and that great leaders have brought us to these areas to pioneer…why not use the word ‘Ascendance’? I proposed it, and it simply stuck…my Southeast Asian comrades and Van Luxemburgian counterparts simply could not have decided on a better word.”
And there you have it…the Ascendance. A perfectly environmentally-friendly bus with reasonable cost-efficiency and maintenance, and in several variants. A choice for paragons in public transportation industry to choose, and combat global warming.
”The innovation of automobile design proactivity sets examples for Asia and the world, and a brighter future.”—Motto of the East Carriage Vehicle Company.
Technology
The technology of the Ascendance is innovative to say the least. The bus is propelled by two electric wheels, mounted in place of the normal rear wheels. These wheels propel the bus by moving the rotor around the stator, causing the wheels to move forwards or backwards. The wheels are powered by a set of 28 Lithium-Ion batteries, set up in four rows of seven batteries each, placed inside an air conditioned and soundproofed container. These batteries supply 130 Ah, and can be recharged in 2.5 hours per individual battery. Recharging is done by generating energy from the movement of the wheels, which can be complemented by the energy generated by the Diesel Generator mounted in the same closed container as the Lithium-Ion batteries. The Generator’s exhaust fumes are filtered by a particle eliminator, which will filter out 90% of all large particles and 50% of the finest particles. The remaining particles is everything what the bus produces in terms of exhaust fumes.
Due to this technology, the bus is extremely silent. Running practically on electric energy alone (since the APU is only used when the energy level in the batteries is dangerously low), the bus only produces some 50 decibel, instead of the 78 decibels produced by an average city bus. The bus has no transmission, since the speed is regulated by using the throttle pedal, which increases the voltage used by the wheel-mounted electrical engines. Braking and reversing is simple: the electric engines will run backwards, causing the bus to move backwards, or slow down. All of this technology is monitored by a single CPU, regulating everything from the traction control to the air conditioning, as well as the propulsion and the battery recharging. In the unlikely case of CPU failure, a backup CPU can take over the first CPU it’s task, although with a reduced amount of functions (no air conditioning, for example). It is almost impossible that both CPU’s would fail at the same time, but the bus can be driven without either of the two CPU’s, although the speed will be governed to 10 km/h, and only the most vital functions will remain. This is to prevent irreversible damage to the electric propulsion systems.
In terms of servicing, the vehicle’s complete set of batteries can be replaced within an hour, and the wheel-mounted electric engines can be replaced in 2.5 hours. However, all parts are set-up to work flawlessly for 1.000.000 (one million) kilometres. There are also benefits in price, since the Ascendance is energy-efficient. While a normal (diesel-powered) bus costs some $250,000 in lifespan energy costs to operate, and a Diesel-hybrid with ‘proven’ technology will cost some $270,000 to operate, the Ascendance can be operated for only $40,000 when working solely on batteries, and even when the APU is used full-time, the vehicle will not cost more than $100,000 in lifespan energy costs. While the Ascendance is as expensive as a ‘normal’ Diesel-Hybrid, the operator will earn some $230,000 when he operates the Ascendance, instead of a ‘normal’ Diesel-Hybrid.
In terms of comfort, the Ascendance is as comfortable as any bus, with air conditioning, a disabled-friendly entrance, as well as special seats for disabled. The bus is also equipped with an information system, which shows the actual timetable to the passenger, as well as possible delays. The driver can use an advanced navigation system, developed specifically for buses. This means that the system will choose routes that are best for buses, and avoid narrow roads where the Ascendance won’t fit. For comfort reasons, the bus is also fitted with air suspension, which can cover up any bumps and smooth out the ride, allowing the passengers to relax and focus on their own affairs. For regional or interregional buses, the Ascendance can be equipped with a DVD entertainment system, with large screens mounted in central positions. For hygienic reasons, the bus has no carpets, but is equipped with linoleum instead. The seats are made of fabric, but can be made out of artificial leather, which bears very close resemblance to real leather, while keeping the price down. The advantage of leather is that it can be easily cleaned, and is not easily damaged.
With production facilities in Van Luxemburg (The VLT factories in Heerenveen and Saint-André-de-Corcy assemble all technical components and propulsion systems into a basic chassis) and Southeast Asia (The East Carriage Vehicle Company factories in Phumi Tapou assemble the coachwork and interior, and finish the bus). The price of the Ascendance is $250,000 USD, if the operator requires a DVD entertainment system, this will add $3500 to the cost, and artificial leather costs $5200 USD. The Ascendance can be fitted to individual needs, please inquire for the possibilities.

We would like to order 100 of these buses to be shipped to the island of New Beertopia. Beertopia produces beer so it has the infrastructure to make wheat biodiesel. These buses would provide a nice addition to the infrastructure. $25 Million dollars in nationstate dollars are being wired to you.

Official International Communique
From the Office of Mayor Ted Guinee, City of Passchendale, Federated Union of Democratic Colonies
To the Offices of the East Carriage Vehicle Company, United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia
I offer my most sincere greetings on behalf of the people of the City of Passchendale. Those in my administration, in conjunction with federal officials, have examined a wide variety of mass transit vehicles as potential replacements for the aging buses which currently serve our vast metropolis. Selection of a vehicle to replace a bus fleet designed to support a sprawling metropolitan area with over a billion and a half inhabitants was no easy task, but as the field of candidates was narrowed and the good separated from the exceptional, it became clear that the Ascendance was the best choice in a field already full of quality.
The City of Passchendale, Federated Union of Democratic Colonies, would like to register an order for 75,000 diesel-electric Ascendance buses to be delivered every year for the next fourteen years, for a total of 1,050,000 vehicles and a combined charge of $262,500,000,000.
While the order is large, my administration and I, along with our counterparts in the federal government, have every confidence that the East Carriage Vehicle Company and its associates will deliver the Ascendance with the quality and reliability that will be needed to serve the City of Passchendale and its population of over a billion and a half inhabitants.
Sincerely yours,
Ted Guinee

From the Office of Mayor Danielle Wright, City of Serendipity, Federated Union of Democratic Colonies
To the Offices of the East Carriage Vehicle Company, United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia
I offer you greetings and well wishes from the sunny City of Serendipity. As part of my campaign promise to better the transit services for all the citizens of Serendipity, I wish to place an order in conjunction with the Federal Government of the Democratic Colonies for 10,000 vehicles of the bus type 'Ascendance' for $2,500,000,000, to supplement our pre-existing bus fleet.
As I place this order on behalf of the over one and a half billion constituents of the City of Serendipity, the capitol of the Administrative Area of the Island of Andromeda and one of the finest cities in the world, I do so with the hope that these environmentally friendly vehicles will help all of humanity preserve the planet that has cradled us for so long, and that all of us hold so dear.
Sincerely yours,
Mayor Danielle Wright

From the Zeitong Mateneen:
VLTC Launches ‘Green’ Bus
Customers are very positive about the Ascendance
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/ascendance2.jpg
An Ascendance parked at a bus stop. This particular model is used for demonstration purposes by VLTC.
ESCH-SUR-ALZETTE – ‘The VLTC C5 has been a success already’, according to the PR department from VLT. The bus, renowned for it’s environmentally-friendly nature, has enjoyed interest from foreign nations, and several sales have been made outside the nations of origin.
The ‘Ascendance’ was the result of a joint Van Luxemburgian-Southeast Asian cooperation, to develop an environmentally friendly bus, capable of operating in varying circumstances. The bus is powered by an innovative system of electrical propulsion, mounted inside the rear wheels. The electrical wheels are powered by batteries, recharged by both a hydrogen-powered generator and solar panels, which means an almost zero-emission system can be realised.
‘The project is very innovative. Our expectation is that it will sell well. In these times of global panicking about the current state of the world’s climate, it will be a great addition to the environmentally friendly cars already available from some manufacturers. Plus, Buses can well be the main problem in some nations, especially in which public transport plays a major role. We have already prepared a second factory to produce the Ascendances, since the first factory can’t even handle the domestic orders.’ According to Hans Schmidt, director of sales for VLT Automotive.
So far, the Ascendance has been sold to public transport companies in Commonalitarianism (with an engine modification in order to accept biodiesel), Groznyj, and the cities of Passchendale and Serendipity in the Federated Union of Democratic Colonies. So far, 1,060,410 buses have been ordered for the coming fourteen years, with the first buses to each customer expected to be delivered this year. Only the city of Passchendale is expected to have to wait longer than two years, with their order of 75,000 vehicles annually.
‘So far, this has exceeded our wildest dreams. More than one million buses is an enormous amount, which is impossible to do with only one factory. Within a few months, our factory in Saint-André-de-Corcy will be ready for production of Ascendances, and we are already discussing the possibility of a third factory, to expand production capacity even further.’

From: Blackwood Transport Ltd.
To: Sales department of the joint VLTC-ECV project
Concerning: Initial procurement of vehicles
In the face of increased demands for environmental friendly methods of transportation, Transport Ltd. recently launched a campaign for higher fuel efficiency per given volume, increased use of railroads instead of lorries, and alternative fuels for those lorries that remained in service. The campaign was very successful, and we are hoping to expand this campaign into the public transportation market of Blackwood.
In order to do so, we are willing to place an order of an initial fifty (50) vehicles. We would further like to arrange an agreement, so that the total cost of 12 500 000 USD, can be paid in half at the moment of confirmation, and the other half over a course of three years at an interest rate of no more than 2.5 per cent starting at the moment of delivery.

From: Drachenshausen City Transit, Drachenshausen, Karmanyaka
Drachenshausen's public transit authority, the DCT, is interested in the Ascendance. We have recently been testing many methods of further decreasing the negative impact on the environment caused by mass transportation, including various hybrid alternatives and fuel cells.
We would like to purchase 50 of these Ascendance buses in order to investigate whether this is a suitable choice for the future of a clean Karmanyaka. If possible we would like to purchase only the chassis, without the coachwork, which must otherwise be heavily modified to fit the needs and regulations of the DCT.
If the buses prove satisfactory to our needs, we will of course be interested in purchasing a larger number of Ascendance buses.
The payment, a total of $12.5 million, will be transferred to your account upon delivery of the vehicles to our garage at DCT Carrosseries, or as otherwise negotiated.
We look forward to a frutiful business relationship with VLTC-ECVC.
Yours sincerely,
Alexandra Rama, chairperson, DCT

ECVC complex expansion tries meeting rising 'green' consumer demand
The Ascendance continues to be a success with manufacturers having difficulty satisfying and meeting orders
KOMPONG SOM WITH ESCH-SUR-ALZETTE CORRESPONDENTS - The East Carriage Vehicle Company has confirmed an initial order of fifty ECVC-5 Ascendance buses from Blackwood Transport Limited. They also confirm a testing order from the Drachenshausen City Transit in the Democratic Dominion of Karmanyaka, also of the same quantity. This comes in simultaneously as ECVC spokespersons have also confirmed the expansion of the ECVC factory complex in Phumi Tapou, a town of the district of Kompong Som. According to spokespersons from the VLT Automotive Group and the native Southeast Asian vehicle manufacturer, the order was issued by the Blackwood Transport Ltd Acquisition Chief Department Head, Lady Jane Greystone and Drachenshausen City Transit Chairperson Alexandra Rama, is worth about 25,000,000 Universal Standard Dollars in total, currency conversions nonwithstanding and not taking into account interest rates and payments over time in the case of Blackwood Transport Ltd. 25,000,000 USD is only a fraction compared to the overall massive order from the public transport services of the cities of Passchendale and Serendipity in the Federated Union of Democratic Colonies, Commonalitarianism and the Republic of Chechnya. The combined purchase meets a whopping 262,102,200,000 Universal Standard Dollars.
This figure is only expected to rise into the trillions given possible investment from public transport companies in Willink and other countries, if not growing public transport demand for native Southeast Asian companies. Ascendances 'piggybacking' lorries (see the above article picture) will be seen more often on roads in the towns of Heerenveen and Saint-André-de-Corcy, or on roads near the said locations. Should Blackwood Transport Ltd and the DCT find the Ascendance favorable for their respective fleets, orders from the Blackwoodian company and the DCT are expected to rise and perhaps even become a large part of the Blackwood Transport Ltd fleet and the DCT fleet. The success internationally of the Ascendance and the domestic success from public transport firms within the United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia (a prominent example is the service of the Ascendance with the Mandala Comfort Group's bus fleet) and the Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg, if not the discussions of new factories and expanded facilities, is a sign of a few things: one, the rise of Southeast Asian automobile corporate business globally, and two, the sign of environmental-awareness is increasing.
Though, while there have been skeptical factions within the Van Luxemburgian Transportation Automotive Group and the East Carriage Vehicle Company about global warming and/or the effectiveness of hybrid automotives against climate change, there is unanimous agreement on one thing. In the words of a VLTC spokesperson, "The market, environmental-friendliness or not, is booming...it is expected that competition will become intense, but for now and for the forseeable future, our two companies will have a solid establishment and a degree of dominance and leadership in the automobile market."

Greater Kingdom of Midlonia to place greatest order on Ascendance's vehicles to date. East Carriage Vehicle Company 'extatic' sources say.
Swadlincote, Midlonia.
The clattering motor of the aging Route-runner buses have been snarling around our cities for nearly 45 years. It's now been deemed to be taken off the streets as part of the new Midlonian Urban-clean-air inititive, after failing to find a suitable home-grown alternative the Greater Kingdom's Corporation Executive turned to that of the ECHC from South East Asia and their new Ascendance class bus, it's quiet electric motors will allow it to operate safely and cleanly within the streets of Midlonian cities, this will compliment the new Metro-tram services and the changing from steam to electric locomotives for trains entering the cities proper.
As such over 6 million such units have been placed on order, expected to be delivered over a period of some years. the ECHC has said that the order is likely to put them in business for several years to come and that new factory facilities are to be built. It's expected that the Corporation Executive will be going for the more luxurious option of the Ascendance with the DVD player likely to be used to play messages and advertisements as well as some movies for longer-haul traveling.

Subject: Ascendance replacing the Routerunner
To Whom It May Concern,
It is an honor and a pleasure to play a role in Midlonian public transportation service history today. While we understand the Routerunner played a great role as an icon of Swadlincote and as a national symbol of the Greater Kingdom of Midlonia, we graciously accept the mantle bestowed upon us. Thanks to this massive order by your government, business indeed shall be booming. The expansion of the assembly complex in Phumi Tapou will have to be expanded to help meet up demand, but that shall not be enough.
Elsewhere, in yet to be finalized port city in what was Brunei, there is a factory complex to be constructed. There is also another ECVC factory complex to be built in the same district where Phumi Tapou is, but in a seperate town. However, both factory complex sites will deliver to the same port city. There is also a fourth factory complex being planned, but to be discussed of later. All these expansion plans are almost direct result of the Midlonian Urban Initiative Clear Air Act of 2007, and we look forward to a long relationship with the Greater Kingdom Corporation Executive. Your order has been confirmed, and your amount of six million ECVC-5 Ascendance buses with DVD sets and artificial leather seats are worth 1,552,200,000,000 Universal Standard Dollars.
Construction of the ECVC-5 Ascendance fleet for the Greater Kingdom Corporation Executive shall commence upon wiring of funds to our corporate bank account. Thank you for doing business with the Van Luxemburgian Transportation Automotive Group and the East Carriage Vehicle Company!

I have received word from the CEO of TransMad Bus Lines (basically the "Greyhound" of Mad Chester) that he would like to purchase 3,000 Ascendance buses for their fleet. These buses would need to be equipped with some deluxe amenities as these would be used for travel between major cities.... specifically, a restroom, the DVD entertainment system, and if possible, reclinable seats and a small vending machine (we will supply the bill-collecting and coin-sorting mechanisms). Also, since motorists in Mad Chester drive on the left side of the road, we will need the driver's seat to be on the right hand side of the bus. If you can meet these specifications, TransMad is willing to spend all the bez that is required.

Laurana Bussing Company Announces Plans to "Go Green"
Laurana, Cravan - Today marks a turning point for transportation in Laurana as bussing company Laurana Transit announces plans to purchase an initial fleet of 240 "Ascendance" eco-busses, in an attempt to show that they are an eco-friendly company who think about the wellbeing of the city.
"It's really something we've been wanting to look into.", Public Relations manager Peter Quinn was quoted as saying. "There haven't been very many good alternatives to standard busses before now, and Laurana Transit is looking into setting the stage for more and more green transit companies. The friendlier we are to the evironments of our cities, the more people will see our intentions and decide that the green method is best for our nation."
With the clearance for the Ascendance's use on Cravanian streets, other bus companies have been showing interest in the concept. It seems that more and more companies are seeing the benefits of adopting an eco-friendly policy, and as more and more look into it it is projected that by fiscal year 2010 it may be the standard for Cravanian transit companies.
"Who knows?", Quinn said in our interview with him last Wednesday. "It does seem, however, that Laurana Transit is leading the path of bussing in Cravan into a green future, and I hope that it does become the norm in a few years."
The 240 units ordered by Laurana transit have yet to be confirmed, however it is expected that they will make their first appearances on the streets of Laurana within two months' time.
As part of an ongoing, long-term effort to make all of Haraki's public transportation more environmentally-friendly - although we do consider ourselves as such already - the federal government is interested in acquiring one hundred (100) of these Ascendance buses as a trial run. The buses will be used in the city of Kiros, which is Haraki's self-titled 'Environmental Pioneer City', and will serve a three-month trial run after which time a report documenting their use and advising whether or not more buses should be purchased for other transportation initiatives throughout the nation. We thank you for your time and look forward to future business dealings.

Protectors faced off with police once more today, the second day of protests in the nation's capitol of Viconia. Over 100,000 citizens packed Union Square directly in front of the Capitol Spire, the beating heart of the federal government, while thousands of police officers, many in full riot gear, were present to meet them.
"We simply cannot stand for this type of idiocy," said Ronald Reith, a senior organizer of the day's protests and President of the Federated Autoworker's Union. "The Democratic Colonies is host to a number of competent automakers, and is home to a literal army of skilled autoworkers. This outsourcing, this ridiculous multi-billion dollar purchase of foreign vehicles is nothing short of moronic. Billions of DCredits and countless jobs are being sent overseas when they belong here, in the industrial centers of our own."
Government officials did not issue a new statement today, but an unnamed member of the Federal Government was quoted by reliable sources as saying that "it's not really about the quality of the buses. I mean, sure, the Ascendance is a great vehicle, but that's a secondary reason at best - the real reason for this contract is a little more complicated then that. I don't want to say too much, but let me just point out that the Marshal Anderson Group was gunning hard for the bus contract and lost, while their big corporate competitor, the Perim Nealon Regal Group, doesn't even make buses and just picked up the contract to ship all those buses long distance via cargo ship from Southeast Asia to the Democratic Colonies. Kind of makes you think, doesn't it? Kind of makes you think."
While the Federal Government has stated that the decision to support the cities of Passchendale and Serependity in their purchase of foreign built Ascendance buses was based on merit and fair technical comparison, this shocking new evidence uncovered by reliable, confidential sources, would indicate otherwise.

GREEN MEANS (BUS) STOP
Xavier first destination for nationwide eco-friendly bus overhaul
By Brandon Bach
Courier Staff Reporter
Alvin Crosley is used to his route being late. The 53-year-old Magnolia Park resident sometimes stands at his Fifth Street stop 15 to 20 minutes longer than he should, because the bus on his route has broken down, and another bus had to be called in to replace it.
But today, his bus is right on time. Route 80 pulls in, and it's a brand new ride, with new plush seats, smoother suspension and zero emissions.
"Well, color me impressed," Alvin says. "I think someone finally is getting some work done at the bus company."
Alvin's new ride - an ECVC-5 Ascendance model - is a part of a major overhaul in public transportation throughout Overbecland. The Federal Legislature approved a =K6.25 billion spending bill in June to purchase 16,000 Ascendance diesel-electric hybrid buses from the East Carriage Vehicle Company in the United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia, to be distributed among all of Overbecland's major cities. The Metropolitan Area Xavier Transit Authority (MAXTRAN) was at the top of the list, due to its aged and chronically distressed vehicles, and will receive a total of 1,000 Ascendance buses, effectively replacing the entire fleet that MAXTRAN has. Now that the =K6.25 billion has been credited in full to ECVC, so far 400 of the buses have arrived in Xavier, but ECVC spokesperson Natalie Liu says the remaining 600 have been earmarked for delivery to MAXTRAN and will be shipped in a matter of days.
The new Ascendance model bus is propelled by two electric wheels equipped with Lithium-Ion batteries, which are recharged by generating energy from the movement of the wheels, which can be complemented by the energy generated by the Diesel Generator mounted in the same closed container as the Lithium-Ion batteries. The Generator’s exhaust fumes are filtered by a particle eliminator, which will filter out 90% of all large particles and 50% of the finest particles. The bus is extremely silent and very comfortable, with air conditioning, a disabled-friendly entrance, an information system - which shows the actual timetable to the passenger - and an advanced navigation system for the drivers. ECVC has a storied reputation for high reliability and low maintenance, a major factor in the government's choosing of a bus manufacturer.
And the bus-riding majority of Xavians agree: out of 5,000 riders polled, 97% have given positive reviews on the new buses. "The seats are very comfortable, and I can listen to my music now without having all that engine noise get in the way," says bus passenger Matilda Smith.
Keith Turner, Overbecland's Secretary of Environment & Internal Resources, said that this nationwide bus overhaul "is a huge step forward in making Overbecland more environmentally friendly and giving Overbeccians cleaner air to breathe."
The Ascendance buses will next be implemented in Kristiana - home of Overbecland's largest public transit company, Kristiana Area Transit (KAT) - where 2,000 buses will be shipped. The remaining cities on the high-priority list are San Tomas, Clairville-Waleton, Galveston Heights, Opie-Anthony, New Burningman, Jaggerland, Byron-Pilsbery and Nowell. The ten priority metropolitan areas will receive a total of 8,000 buses over the next three years, and after those are delivered, 8,000 more buses will be shipped to the Public Vehicle Reserve in Haynesleary, to be distributed to the remaining cities and sold to private bus companies.

A picture of the Bus appeared with the caption, 'No Go'
Her lips parted, the studio went hush as the news started.
"The 'Green Bus' Ascendence, has been deemed unsuitable for Leafanistan's growing transportation needs. In a controversial ruling the Republican Public Transportation Authority has said while the Ascendence is a triumph in engineering, its costs, complexity, and its chassis were inappropriate for the Leafanistani Market."
"This is not a ban on the Green Bus, as it will be adopted in limited numbers by General Bus Lines fleet in the intercity routes. The Transportation Authority ruled that the design of the bus is hard to maintain for its crews, and it is far too tall for a city bus. Low hanging power lines, or phone lines could be toppled by its height. It also lacks a kneeling feature necessary for all city bus routes, and its seating arrangement is less than optimal."
"The Environmental Group 'Keeping it Green' will appeal the decision."
A graphic appeared on the screen, [WANT TO KNOW MORE?], and if clicked would lead to a longer article and a recording of the press release by the RPTA. The woman later went to sports and the news bar below informed viewers a softcore video of the anchorwoman was now playing on Channel 200.

OOC: You've never heard of a domestic bias in real life? Haven't you heard the news about 'THIS IS OUR CUN'TRY' saber rattling in the US and Canada? But school buses, city buses, and long-haul buses have radically different seating arrangements and frankly, this is a long-haul bus, and is completely useless on city routes. I don't think there is enough standing room, and the height is mostly something I derived from the picture. And remember a bureaucrat, he is going to slant toward his financiers, domestic bus corporations, and find a way to nitpick this bus out of the competition.
City buses are low, have few seats mostly side facing, and are built lower. Your driver is sitting far up, that indicates the actual cabin is that high up, which on the new city buses is not so. There are rarely stairs anymore on city buses, except toward the rear where the engine is mounted.
Besides, your bus isn't banned in Leafanistan, it is being bought by General Bus Lines.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, why is an ad hominem attack inappropriate when we are criticizing the subject? We aren't calling your designers inappropriate, or remarking about how your buses kill babies. We said the bus didn't fit the needs of the Republican Public Transportation Authority's needs. We need, low, wide, and lots of standing room buses for city routes, and fast commuter rail trains for intercity routes.

Plus, the customer eventually decides how the seating arrangement will be done, since each bus company will have different requirements. [OOC: While I appreciate the IC confirmation, quite a few people don't do that, they usually auto-assume it to be wired. But I appreciate and like that little effort of yours Dartia...it's realistic to assume the final arrangements. Keep it up, Dartia, keep it up.]

Following the abolition of privately owned motor vehicles has taken place for the good of the Peoples of the world and especially that of the most humble people of The newly created great nation of The United Socialist States of Uwukaka (USSU), we would like to order 50 of these buses inorder to support our already fluorishing solar powered rail and cycle networks.
The sum of 25,000,000 uwukakas ($12,500,000 USD) has been wired. Of course any discount on further purchases would create our massive gratitude.
Out of interest does anyone have any excess solar generated electricity that they would like to sell to our illustrious nation?
Also do any nations require our expertise in the production of Biogas from their sewage network?

Dear Dr. Perry Cox,
The Board of Directors of the East Carriage Vehicle Company are grateful and honored by your decision to pick the C-5/ECVC-5 "Ascendance" Environmentally-Friendly Bus. The modifications for the Ascendance being a prison bus are being debated on by our Design Bureau and the VLT Automotive Transportation Group, but the rest of the Ascendance fleet for Vetaka shall be confirmed upon the wiring of funds to our primary corporate bank account.
Thank you for choosing East Carriage though, and we hope that despite of this brief hassle, that we have a long business relationship with the Vetakan Free Dominion.
Yours Sincerely,

[OOC: When VL gets back from his vacation we'll have to calculate the customized versions, but assume the remaining 50,000 to be on hold for now till we work out costs or I do it sometime later.]

Dear Lord Murray,
Our company is pleased by this move towards environmental-friendliness, and look forward to an expanded relationship. As for biofuels, the Union has ongoing research and is in a fairly advanced state for energy, but would be willing to negotiate on something. However, this is not something our company can do as we are not an energy firm, we are an automotive-manufacturing firm. To use an example, a proper firm from the proper industry would be SkyGen Power Plc (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=484452). That stated, your order is confirmed and shipment will commence once the funds (12,500,000 Universal Standard Dollars) have been transferred to our primary corporate bank account. Thank you for doing business with East Carriage, and I hope to see you return to us for the future!

The Government has seen fit to make all public buses in the nation the ECVC-5 Ascendance class. This is dependent of course upon the ECVC-5 being able to utilize 100% biofuel in the diesel generator. While still maintaining the expected performance(relative changes are of course acceptable).
An initial purchase of 1000 of the design models will be made.
Soft cloth seating as opposed to leather/leather like material.
Along with the DVD entertainment model upgrade.
Thank you.
