PTOLEMAIS - As part of its recent reforms, the Ptolemais Stock Exchange has decided to allow foreign brokerage firms the right to trade a limited selection of the stocks listed on the Main Board. This is part of an experiment to see whether foreigners will be willing to invest in the assets of the Empire, and whether it will be of benefit to the firms of the Empire. As part of the experiment, five stocks, as well as two fixed interest bonds will be able to be traded by foreign brokerage firms, and therefore their customers. Individual investors will be limited to owning a maximum of one percent of a company's stock.

OOC: Sorry about that; the Empire uses a variation of the old Pounds Shillings and Pence system.

Essentially 10 drachmas equal a sesterius. 20 sesterces equal a Gold Denarius.

Essentially, all Gold Denarius prices have GD in front of them, Sesterces have / after the price, and Drachma figures have the full word. Sesterces and Drachma is shown x/y.

If this is very confusing, allow me to do the maths

To: Erinin Arms - CEO

We welcome your purchase of shares and bonds within the Ptolemais Stock Exchange, however, due to board restrictions, you may only purchase one percent of the stock in any company, or bond. Therefore, we cannot yet process your purchase of Eastern Oil and Refining, Telecom of Alexandrian Ptolemais, the 2015 Government Bond, or the 2030 Ptolemais County Bond.

However, we can process your order for shares in the following corporations. These are the shares ordered and their total value.

Helios Banking Corporation - 1 million shares for 650,000 Gold Denarii
Northern Insurance Corporation - 2 million shares for 710,000 Gold Denarii
New Ulster Properties - 1 million shares for 135,000 Gold Denarii

This would equate to GD 1,495,000 - or 373,750 ounces of Gold. In US Dollar terms, this is approximately $243 billion.

We would also be interested in allowing your corporation the ability to list on our main board. All we would need is financial information, as well as references to share prices and your market capitalisation on any existing boards.

In terms of getting a brokerage seat; you have one of two options.

Primary Seat - A primary seat allows your brokerage firm the ability to trade on the main floor, and therefore trade on stocks immediately. However, there are only 1500 primary seats, and they are only auctioned off occasionally; with the most recent primary seat selling in December 2006 for GD43,000 (about US$7 million). After making that payment, your firm does have the seat permanently, and does not have to pay fees

Secondary Seat - A secondary seat allows your brokerage firm access to our computer trading network, however, you only get to purchase stocks after they have been on the floor for twenty minutes. However, you can purchase a seat immediately and they priced at GD99 (about US$17,000) per annum
