Marshal Kuja: "Jampurimimyanya is the 'world's only democracy'."

Sirens wailed as motorcades zoomed down the pebbled palm-lined boulevards, surrounded by throngs of cheering, flag-waving people, chanting, "Long live Marshal Kuha, long live Marshal Kuja!" Columns of tanks and other armored vehicles encircled a mass podium, before which the man to whom their allegiance belonged was preparing to make a speech. Helicopters circled overhead, and hundreds of cameras zoomed in on the marshal's face as silence descended upon them. Clearing his throat, he began his speech.

"Jampurimimyanya is the world's only democracy," he said. "Democracy, rule of the people, by the people, and for the people is absent in every other nation, without exception. Other countries, regardless of political orientation, regardless of what they address themselves as, regardless of whether they operate behind the cloak of 'democracy,' the fact remains that they are not democracies!" He smashed his fist onto the podium for emphasis. "Brothers and sisters, pray in your hearts, pray with all you have, for the peoples of the world deprived of democracy. Pray for those upon whom fate has cast a dire shadow, imprisoning them in a predicament of such grave proportions as to awaken every militant's conscience. In the name of our forefathers and everyone who has ever died defending our democracy, we will ensure that, whatever the price, whatever the cost, our democracy, the first and only democracy in the history of people, will endure, survive, prevail, and triumph!"

The crowd applauded thunderously in unison, waving banners, screaming the marshal's name, as loudspeakers blared the anthem. Kuja grinned, blew them all kisses, and gave a slight bow before being escorted to an armed helicopter that would fly him back to his impeccably decorated but modestly-sized residence. Within the hour, telegrams were hastily wired to every major world leader, deploring the "lack of democracy" in their countries and threatening "strident retaliatory measures" if they did not "embrace the democratic revolutionary spirit which will soon sweep the globe."

OOC: Do you want a war, because I am so down?

OOC: No, it's basically my leader harping about my nation is (in his warped view) the "only democracy" in the world. Though, if you do want a war, maybe we can have one at some point. I'd like to get more acquainted with the forum, practice roleplaying, build up my population a bit, etc. :)

OOC:

I would roll up my sleeves and give you a good, solid smacking around, but I'm already planning three wars at present, so...later, maybe, I suppose. If I can get past the bad feelings attacking such a small country would cause me...

Nation with a funny name issues empty threats!
Glenn Harrison

Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives have today released records of a message sent last morning to Romandeos by Marshal Kuja of Jampurimimyanya, stating that his nation is in fact the world’s only true democracy. The message goes on to claim that the Marshal is disgusted by a lack of democracy in Romandeos. Blatant threats of retaliatory measures if Romandeos does not embrace a ‘democratic revolutionary spirit’ were also made. What kind of retaliatory measures were to be used was not mentioned, though given that Kuja’s little state is pathetically tiny, the government says nobody should worry.

OOC:

I really need to practice tailoring my posts more. Anyway, that's just a clipping from a news sheet. My government, as yet, sees no cause to issue any response.

Perhaps i could point you to the II consolidation sticky in my signature. Its got a whole heap of useful threads and posts, the ones about war and reasons for i would suggest being read.

Jampurimimyanya Declares Itself "World's Only Democracy"

[CSRN News - Cotco, Avisron]

In a mysteriously uneducated statement this morning, Jampurimimyanyan Marshal Kuja declared his nation the worlds sole democracy. This statement has astounded several within the Avisronian government, which operates in a quasi-democratic manner.

"We just don't understand how they came to the conclusion," a State Department spokesperson said. "Or what their point of their statement even was."

"There were also some threats made," the same spokesperson said. "We're not worried about them. They sent that message to virtually everyone."

Many sources report that the government believes this is simply an attention grabbing measure. However, if that is true, it leaves one to wonder why the government of Jampurimimyanya is jeopardizing its very existence simply to let people know it exists.

The Worker's Report

Good evening, comrades. I'm Sasha Kolienko and this is your report tonight...Our top story today is the stunning and interesting proclomation of Marshal Kuja from the nation of Jampurimimyanya. In a rousing speech to a ferverous crowd of thousands, the Marshal declared that his nation is "The world's only democracy". His speech on the lack of true democracy amoungst the nations of the world spurred both sides of this issue. Several nations already voiced their opinions on this recent event as nothing more than the ramblings of a dictator; however, several organizations, one being the People for True Democracy (PTD), a Kulikovia based political organization praised his speech today by saying:
"Many nations claim to be democracies but in today's world, it simply isn't true. The few rule the many even while the many carry the louder voice." that was an excerpt from a press release by the PTD earlier today. Chancellor Rhinehardt and the government have yet to issue a response to this statement which draws some alarm from the last segment, stating: "strident retaliatory measures" if they did not "embrace the democratic revolutionary spirit which will soon sweep the globe."

We will keep you updated on any new developments as this story progresses, comrades...

PTD Headquarters, New Archangel

The People for True Democracy were a fairly new organization, it's roots began about ten years ago. They were a fairly sized group of "Democrats" in Kulikovia. They were not Socialists or Centrists, but their own political ideaology which differed from the prominent doctrine of the Worker's State. They advocated a true democracy where the people would have a voice. Even while Socialism swept the nation, the PTD believed that Socialism was just a gateway ideaology to Communism and the totaletarian state which would evolve from it. They would conduct demonstrations, protests, boycotts, circulate literature and such. Officals never viewed them as a threat. Their organization in popular belief, lacked the financial assets as well as solid leadership to carry them to the next level, forming their own party.

The group consisted of independents, Democrats, as well as anarchists. Once anarchists filtered into the organization, that was when the Ministry of Domectid Security began to keep taps on them. Despite this, the PTD continued to survive and even flourish once Chancellor Rhinhardt became Chancellor. The Chairman of the PTD was a woman named Carina Keppler, a former anarchist sympathizer. She was well respected and educated. Through her solid leadership, the PTD created momentum and began to cause waves within the political norm in Kulikovia. She often engaged in idealogical debates with Socialists in cafes, lecture halls, and even on the streets. She spoke with passion and fervor and a great orator, the voice of the PTD.

Inside the modest building in the port city of New Archangel, Carina Keppler floated down the hallways, past other workers as they went about their business. The speech by Marshal Kuja was just the thing she needed to hear. A state leader embraced true democracy, a simingly impossible ideal which in her belief, was in fact, possible. She reached the conference room and entered to the sight of banners posted on the walls and numerous supporters and members of the PTD sitting around and talking.
"Friends, today is indeed a glorious day for our cause" she began "I'm sure you all have heard of the developements in Jampurimimyanya." there were several nodds.
"Carina, what does this all mean for us now?" Asked Alexi Braumn.
"It means there is someone of power and influence out there who believes in what we do. Now, our goals can be attained" Carina boasted, grinning. "The time for action has arrived and we must not let this opportunity slip from our fingertips".

The Free Empire has noted the ludicrous statements of 'pure' democracy groups. As such, the people of Jampurimimyanya* have all been classified as terrorists, and the People for True Democracy have been classified as a terrorist organization. Any people caught in our nation from either terrorist organization will be captured, interrogated**, and killed brutally.

*They democratically elected a terrorist, meaning they're all terrorists.

The Worker's Report

Breaking news in the capital, Jonensberg this morning. The city is electrified with political activity as members of the PTD and their supporters march in demonstration down The Boulevard of the Proletariat in the political district of the city this morning. The PTD filed for a permission to assemble with the local magistrate's office last week and scheduled their protest for today as they plan to march past The Chancellor's Residence, The People's National Tribunal, and their last stop being the General Assembly building where the day's activities include speeches and debates. PTD Chairman, Carina Keppler is leading the march which includes hundreds of people. In response, thousands of citizens swelled the sidewalks against the PTD and their movement. Many are supporters of Socialism and veterans of the revolution.
"The Socialist 'regime' of this country has failed in their promise to give power to the people and they must step down and embrace a better, truer democracy" cried one PTD member.
"It's impossible to shift to their ideaology. The Socialist way has worked and will continue to work" shouted a citizen. Jonensberg Police Department, (JPD) are stationed along the route in order to protect the demonstrators and at the same time, keep the PTD from undertaking other endeavours. As of now, there are no reports of violence and the demonstration remains relavively peaceful.

The first lentine of Rejistania is never a very remarkable person. The fact that majorities change in the parliament on weekly basis means of course the good candidates do not become first lentines, they become ministers or leaders of the different liside'ny. The first lentine who is currently in office is Tade~n Lii, she fits most of the cliches people have about rejistani first lentines: she is 59 years old and did not age gracefully, her long hair is grey with some black in it, her eyes are brown, her skin is brown, indicating her progressi heritage. In a speech to the parliament, she referred to the 'threat' by the Jampurimimyanyan Maximo Líder: "Delegates, I know that the Hatiu-plan has a certain appeal to it, but in the name of the spirit, it is not inherently compatible to our kalesicality. Even though the shensa'he of Jampurimimyanya thinks it is an inferior system, we know, from experience, from history, from comparing and from evaluating that our system guarantees representation. We should not risk the inherently stable system by laws which just make not the sense of a grain of sand. We are excellently politically free - these of Jampurimimyanya do not have an idea what that is. Delegates, Jampurimimyanya must not be our future. this act might bring some stability to government but it will surely make it less democratic."
Red Tide2

While others laughed at the redicilous statement released by Jampurimimyanya, the Red Tide Government saw opportunity.

Official Statement from TSRT Government
"The Totalitarian State of Red Tide, while finding Jampurimimyanya's 'Only Democracy in World' stance humorous, is somewhat alarmed at the threat of 'Strident Retaliation'. While we do not believe this is a valid overt threat, the nation is too insignificant for that, we may believe that they might start supplying rebels in attempts to destabilise their neighbours.

As such could be seen as both a threat to world stability and, more importantly, the State, we will dispatch the fifth Dreadnought Battlegroups to international waters just outside Jampurimimyanyan national waters."
End Message

As the message was sent, the fifth dreadnought battlegroup, which was already on patrol, suddenly changed course and headed for Jampurimimyanya. But a more interesting development was happening at a naval base in Red Tide.

A entire Field Army was being loaded onto transports and modernised Mulberry-esque harbors were being towed out.

Official Communiqué

We are concerned with Jampurimimyanya's veiled threats to destabilize nations throughout the globe. British Londinium will be dispatching four La Fayette-class stealth frigates to international waters near Jampurimimyanya in order to maintain a watch on the nation. Also, we invite Marshal Kuja to come to British Londinium on a state visit so that he might gain a better understanding of our nation, and perhaps change some of his radical viewpoints.

Sincerely,

The Chancellor's Residence, Jonensberg

The demonstrations contiuned down the Boulevrad of the Proletariat leading to Revolutionary Square. Chancellor Rhinehardt observed the crowds from the window of his office on the second floor. The curtains were half closed as he peered out to see the banners and fags waved proudly in the air, carried by citizens and workers. Rhinehardt sighed and brushed his salt and pepper hair with his hand and moved back to the large mahogany desk. The Chancellor's Office was ornate with paitning, busts, several couches and bookcases. Behind his desk was the flag of Kulikovia on one side and the party flaf on the other. He took a seat in the comfortable chair as several advisors and ministers were gathered around. Vice Minister Brokoff of the Ministry of Domestic Security and Minister Yuri Javen of the Ministry of State were the two most notable.
"Gentlemen, let's hear it" Rhinehardt asked as the ministers sat down in the avaliable seating.
"Mr.Chancellor" Brokoff began, adjusting his glasses and crossing his legs "The PTD, all though publicly benign are not to be underestimated. They portray the image of an ultra liberal ideaology but in reality, are extremists with elements of the remaining anarchist groups within their organization"
"Do you believe they are a threat in the wake of Marshal Kuja's speech?" Rhinehardt asked, leaning forward.
"Marshal Kuja's speech bolstered their resolve. The more radical elements of the organization and emboldened and may take action. Recent surveillance and wire taps, coupled with information recieved from insideers point in that direction" Brokoff answered quickly.
"Can Carina Keppler be tied with anything?"
"Nothing illegal, sir" Brokoff shot back. There was a pause in dialogue as the situation sunk in.
"I have no position on Marshal Kuja nor Jampurimimyanya. Several eager nations are already rattling their sabers and he will probably back down. No, my main concern is the PTD and their extremist views and possible ties with Jampurimimyanya. Are there any?" Rhinehardt asked.
"Not yet, but it's only a matter of time. Carina Keppler will try to communicate with Kuja's regime and recieve support. A demonstration of this scale on true democracy has never been seen before."

Rhinehardt then turned to Javen who sat silently, contemplating his words.
"Yuri, what are we doing to curb the PTD?"
"Sir, we've produced leaflets and literature proclaiming the advantages of our current Socialist ideals and why they are superior to true democracy and also point out th flaws and how warped it may become in the future. Part officals are rallying members to protest against them and the media is still pro-government." Javen finished.
"Excellent" Rhinehardt leaned back in his chair. "Our moves will be strictly reactionary until they become a true threat." Rhinehardt stood tall as did the others and he dismissed them. Once the room cleared, he turned to the window and observed the continuing scene below, putting his hands behind his back and watching silently.

We are worried over the hostile communications towards Jampurimimyanya. We're satisfied that they are a democracy, and we would have been more worried if Jampurimimyanya should have been a nation ruled by a hostile, aggressive dictator.

We're supporting Jampurimimyanya both with words, money and with military power should it be necessary.

Revolutionary Square

The throngs oc citizens swelled the streets as traffic was forced to divert their course of travel. Businesses closed early in the wake of the demonstrations. It was an interesting day in Kulikovia. Thousands of PTD and counter-protestors crowded the streets and the march finally ended in Revolutionary Square. It was dedicated to the heroic sacrifices of those who fought against the fascist regime over twenty years ago. It was a vast and wide plaza with a large monument in the center, with statues of soldiers and workers, together. At the opposite end was the General Assembly Building, it's long and wide steps led straight to the plaza. Thousands swelled the space as a stage was pre-set for the PTD. Carina Keppler, the enigmatic leader of the PTD took to the podium and began a whirlwind speech. Her lieutenants and other high members around her with a large banner in the backround. JPD units were deployed across the Square.
"People of Kulikovia!" she shouted over the loud speakers. It was now a mixed crowd of supporters and those against. "We are blind to the reality which is this so-called 'democracy' we live in today. People across the globe are blinded and weakened by the governments and those who would have total power. The power rests with the people and solely the people!" a roar of approval and hatred rose from the crowd as she continued her ferverous speech, thrusting her fist into the air, defiant of the social order in Kulikovia.
