OOC: Your nation's main art objects/jewels?

Allanea
28-06-2007, 21:57
Valinor had the Silmarils.

Allanea had a variety of paintings, but we gave most of our really cool national-asset artworks away to Menelmacar. And we have giant statues.

What does your nation have? What cool stuff - paintings, crown jewels, stuff - do you have in your nation?

Granate
28-06-2007, 22:09
The most famous peice of Jewelry in Granate is the Republican Diamond. The largest Diamond in Granate and possibly the world, although we have not proven that. It is kept under a minimum of two guards in the Royal Granatian Natural History Museum in Lucianus.

In other terms of Art. We have a copous amount of Large Statues depicting bygone heroes. Usually in pose that showed off their style of Politics.
McPsychoville

Aa...aaarrr...aaaaarr-ttuh? What is this art?

Er...we have Jay Summers' hockey stick from his last game before he retired and we bronzed the puck he scored his 500th goal with. That any good?
Jarridia
28-06-2007, 22:11
Jarridia is home to the Jarridian International Art and Music Gallery, and by far the Music Gallery is the most exhilarating part. It boasts the largest collection of music, damn near every song created in the universe (there is a link in my sig). Also, in the Presidential Palace there is a 20' statue made out of solid gold in the figure of Jarrod Branam, our most treasured president.

Really, most of Jarridia's 'treasures' are architectural icons throughout the nation....Presidential Palace, Senate Chambers, WWA Headquarters, Palace of the Conqueror (Old Vampirian City Relic) and the Hidden Palace of Anythimesia in the Rain Forest of Salvidaer...which has an extensive collection of medieval artwork and jewels dating back to those times when Jarridia was but a tiny kingdom and not even thought of as Jarridia yet.

We have the Museum of Found Objects representing found objects all the way from 500 b.c. to 2500 a.d., everything from Scandinvan long ships, Schwullunde fire gems, 2000 a.d. raised nuclear submarines, to strange alien objects retrieved from Negev II.

We also have the biosculpted gardens of Liberty City, representing the decorative flora and fauna from fifteen different worlds, black orchids, jelly trees, diamond rainbow beetles.

In addition, we have the Preservation Station, which represents the total ecological map of twenty living worlds, stored as eggs, seeds, and biological samples.
The Phoenix Milita
28-06-2007, 22:23
The Phoenix Milita has many pieces of art throughout the nation. A prominent one is the gateway to New Sparta, which features the giant, solid obsidian monoliths known as the "Talons of The Phoenix (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/grunt74/NS1/talonsofthephoenixmonument.jpg)". The monument memorializes fallen Phoenix Militants and guards the entrance to New Sparta.

There are simmilar monuments in the capital, Phoenix, but they are not solid obsidian. Those are only reinforced concrete structures with a shell of black marble. The solid obsidian talons are most impressive when viewed up close. Other sites include The Seville Suspension bridge, which is one of our largest and most beautiful bridges, and the Black Hills memorial, which features a Mount-Rushmore scale carving depicting the fall of The Phoenix Federation and the rebirth of the Phoenix Milita.
Leetz

Greston
28-06-2007, 22:49
We have a life size painting behind two statues of the battle of Greston. It depicts the Battle of Life that was between the settlers, and the monsters Satin had set upon Greston. The statues are of the settler leader being stabbed in the back, by a demon. In the painting in front of the leader there is 3 monsters falling backward after taking a stab from him.

Just a little bit of history, but after the demon stabbed the leader, his name was Greston, the demon turned to dust on the inside aand his body collapsed like a coat.
Lord Sumguy
28-06-2007, 22:58
The Holy Empire has a series of painting depicting the war of independance eight years ago from the communist regime that had been ruling the nation. Each member of the Royal Guard also owns a suit of plate armor from the days of the old empire, the most extravagent of these being the one owned by Lord Sumguy himself, which is plated in white and yellow gold over the steel armor, and is nearly a millenia old. The Holy Empire also will soon be constructing a memorial of the terrorist attacks at the Hegemony Ball.

Valinor had the Silmarils.

Win.

A big national monument in Jeuna is the 'Tribute to the Conquered', which commemorates the Japanese war crimes when they ruled Manchuria.
Golugan
28-06-2007, 23:39
Our capitol city began as a trade post in a mountain pass. It gradually grew to cover both sides of the canyon throughout the pass, then started digging its way in to form underground communities. This allowed for vertical development both up and down, and now the capitol is what remains of what was a pair of adjacent mountains. The material mined out of the interior was used to build the structures surrounding the original mountains, as well as the walls securing the city perimeter and outlying fortress-towns. That is what we consider art.
The Warmaster
29-06-2007, 03:47
Kregaians HATE modern art, so our sculptures and paintings are all in classical style. Pretty much anything in the Imperial Palace would be classified as a masterpiece; some particularly famous works are Abaddon Deus, a statue of Abaddon III, The Ascension of Typhon, a painting of the first Sacred Emperor's assumption into heaven, and Shield Vale at Sunrise, a landscape of the beautiful Shield Vale. The Palace itself is a masterpiece, an awe-inspiring structure of incredible size and mass.
Skibereen
29-06-2007, 04:47

Nueve Italia
29-06-2007, 05:31
In terms of relics, Nueve Italia has the Spada di Dio, or "God's Sword". The fabled saber has passed down the line of every man to rule Nueve Italia, and many legends still abound over its history and material composition.

Crown jewels include the Gori Family Crest. This is a silver cross inlaid on each of its tips with, in clockwise direction starting with the top, a diamond, a ruby, a sapphire, and an emerald: the four colors of Nueve Italia. The silver represents Isola D'Argenta: the first homeland of the Nitalian people.

In terms of other art and structures, the new Nueve Italia cannot lay claim to much: Isola D'Argenta was destroyed in the Nueve-Bandurian war, and the new home of Isola Dorata has had most of its focus on the rebuilding of Nueve Italia in itself.

However, the artist Giorgio Bunnofi has created one work which hangs in the Palace of CĂtta Santo, the city's capital, called The Glory of Argenta. The fresco depicts an embodiment of God encircling his arms around Isola D'Argenta, with a large, silver cross placed in the center of the work. The realistic landscaping technique used blends well with the Classical depiction of various objects and people throughout the work. It is considered a priceless work of the Nitalian People, and is a major tourist attraction for both natives and foreigners.
Izistan
29-06-2007, 05:37
Axis Nova has "a" Lance of Longinus, but it's unknown whether it's the real one. (NGE version, not historical)

Hahaha.

Anyway Izistan has a large collection of 18th century historical artifacts and artwork (including a restored Diaspora ship). Also has a large Museum of Firearms in Izistan City.

*I really need to write out my history.

The main art objects are the different inikresaist temples in KaMaRi kali and Jinhes kali.
The Eternal Kawaii
29-06-2007, 18:31
The "jewels" of the Eternal Kawaii were the numerous shrines that had been built over the centuries at various scenic locations where the Cute One was believed to have manifested Itself. Sadly, these have been destroyed by the attack of Lord Gojira and his army of kaiju, who have driven the Kawaiian people from their homeland with only what possessions they could pack out. These probably included various odds and ends from the old shrines that future generations will no doubt revere as holy relics.

One shrine is still standing, however--the Shrine of the Manifestation, located in the UN Strangers' Bar. It is now a pilgrimage site where Kawaiians from all over come to pay their respects and plead for their peoples' eventual return to their homeland.

The Shrine, btw, looks something like a very ornamental birdhouse, made of the finest woods and intricately carved. It sits on a pole at one end of the bar, and has been roped off for protection.
Francopolis Prime
29-06-2007, 18:43
Art is a meaningless pursuit. Art produced by the citizenship is only condoned as a distraction from noncompliance. Although I suppose the alloy citadel is an imposing figure in and of itself.
Otagia
29-06-2007, 18:55
Otagia claims to have the Japanese imperial regalia, but it's debatable that we're not just bullshitting you. Of course, since the Japanese won't show it to anyone, there's probably about a 50/50 chance that the Regency is telling the truth.

Otagia is also home to a pair of Stradivarii: Colossus and Le Maurien. Both are owned by members of the Quetzal family, and are loaned to those they deem worthy. The Eidenshi Museum of Art is also home to a great deal of artwork, much of it salvaged from Japan during the Exodus.

For the more religious minded, there's a large amount of both Shinto shrines and Catholic cathedrals scattered across the nation. The most impressive is undoubtedly Eidenshi's Cathedral of Saint Louis, which rivals the arcologies in scale.
New Dornalia
29-06-2007, 19:27
New Dornalia has some interesting artworks. Many used to be Socialist Realist in style, though recent changes are encouraging a move away from that style. Generally, artists do get some money to help finance their works (through schemes similar to US NEA Grants and other stuff), though music is our big "art" form, mainly in the form of Blues, R&B and rock, along with more traditional art housed at museums such as the National Art Hall (OOC: In RL, the LA County Museum of Art, just FTized.) in Los Angeles. Styles are mostly influenced by manga and older, pre-Apocalypse methods, and tend to be conservative, only recently beginning to experiment with styles borrowed from Kroot, Hajarran and gentegata sources.

In terms of relics, most are cultural. The Antiquities Section at the National Music Library in Los Angeles, Earth SSR, which houses sheet music and instruments belonging to great musical artists from the days before the Apocalypse and after from all over the Workers State, reportedly possesses a "Fender" guitar played by Pete Townshend. Authentication is still needed, however, and archivists and researchers at the NML are divided over whether this was really used by Townshend.

Also, the personal articles of General Shimura and the Founders of the State are housed at the National Museum, and treated as relics as well. These include Shimura's pistol, some manga by the founder of Old Dornalia, as well as uniforms, edicts and correspondence.

Like in Otagia, there are plenty of religious structures to visit; the recent revival of religious activity in New Dornalia, plus the incorporation of parts of Earth under the Treaty of Los Angeles where the Pre-MacIntyre government's policies on religion didn't touch has led to the construction and preservation of some feats of archetecture, including St. James' Catholic Church in Luxembourgia and the Moses Mendelssohn Synagogue in Ft. Casimir Pulaski.
Ariddia
26-07-2007, 14:07
The best-known contemporary Ariddian painter is probably Ukenio Minowa (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ukenio_Minowa).

But Ariddia is better known for its literature (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ariddian_literature) - with writers such as Abel Moeaki (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Abel_Moeaki) and Annabelle Laurier (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Annabelle_Laurier) - than for its artwork.

Kirav

Me only got a Bird
Is this an inside joke???

Kirav has a very artistic culture. Painting, although present, is not as widespead as Sculpture. Sculptures are found in many public buildings, squares, and some homes. Our sculptors use a wide variety of materials, but many are partial to marble(green marble is highly valued) and agate.

Our most famous sculpure is the Rain Catcher ("Imbra Captix" in Coscivian). It is of mixed material, bronze, copper, and green marble, and depicts a woman kneeling on a rock holding a basin over her head, as if to catch rainwater.

There is also the Delphine Glory, the figure of a dolphin, carved from turquoise, as if it were leaping from the sea, which is represented by a plate of hammered electrum under the mount.

We are also fond of our jewelwork. Silver is the preffered metal in Kiravian jewelry, and our jewellers use all the gems known to humanity. Necklaces and decorative pieces are the most common forms. The Emperor's sceptor has 23 different species of stone set into it, all of them green, our national colour.

The Imperial Sword of Echering is a stainless-steel sword, inlaid with chalcedony. The words "Servinae Kiravia aies tovur Siurvaes", "Serve Kirav for it is your Duty" are etched into the blade. The sword is used to appoint the Secriatist of Culture.
Toopoxia
26-07-2007, 21:39
In Toopoxia art and artistry is well regarded and funded, however the punishment for failing to appease a patron can in occasion be quite harsh, thus only the best pieces of art have passed onwards to the next generation, the most famed pice is that of the Battle of Banini Gorge, a painting made by Corporal Alexi Vasanjure, a veteran of the battle, it displays the moment that conflict erupted around the main fortress at Banini.
