Political Structure

The Fuhrer
The Fuhrer of Kampfers retains almost totalitarian power. He has the ability to declare war, join alliances, and raise taxes. He can create new laws, however he can not grant new powers to himself. He has the right to disband parliament indefintely, however he must keep them around as they hold some powers not endowed to him.
The Parliament
The Parliament is a holdover from the days when Kampfers was a republican democracy. It holds a limited amount of power, and yet it is still very influential. It is democratically elected every 5 years, with 155 total seats. The Parliament still holds several very important powers. These powers include: the ability to vest the Fuhrer new powers, the ability to fully mobilize the army, and the ability to remove the Fuhrer from power if he becomes oppressive.

Spartans-

This is the elite group of the Kampferian Army. One in every 100,000 plus babies is taken from its mother at childbirth. They are taken to a top secret Kampferian base. As a baby, they are treated brashly and with disrespect. The lack of a mothers coddling allows for an earlier mental toughening of the child. From the earliest age that theey can comprehend things, they are taken to classes. Due to the intelligence agencies role in their life, they are taught the major languages of the world. They are expected to be fluent in English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian, as well as a few others. They are trained in hand to hand fighting first. They learn the ways of Karate, Jujitsu, Judo, Boxing, and many other techniques. They learn how to fire different weapons with ultimate accuracy. They move like in the shadows, virtually invisible. Finally, they study famous battles in recent history, where tactical fighting was key.

History of Kampfers

Early History-
Scholars maintain that the Armed Republic of Kampfers was founded circa 650 B.C. An exact date, however, cannot be attached to the creation of this country because the founders were illiterate and did not record their early history. It is know, however, that Kampfers was founded by the nomadic Kampferian peoples. After a few harsh years when the climate did not favor livestock production, the Kampferian peoples decided to settle down and create a new society. After several hundred years, the first national school was founded. This gave rise to literate citizens who, after studying the successfull countries of the world, decided a revolution was in order.

The First Kampferian Revolution-
Students, brandishing swords and other assorted weapons, quickly gained control of Kampfers Stadt. They beheaded the ruling oligarchy and took over the government with virtually no resistance. This was in part due to the elder generations lack of knowledge about weapons. They then established a governmental system with two branches, the legislative and the executive. However, fatal flaws doomed this government from the start.

Middle Ages-
During this period, Kampfers was constantly mired in failure. 90% of the population lived below the poverty line, and oft corrupt Chancellors cared little to fix that. There are many reported cases of these Chancellors embezzeling the government funds. The most notorious of these Chancellors was Chancellor Bismark. He did everything in his power to make the common man miserable. It was during the Middle Ages that English and German were established as the two National Languages. However, very few people knew how to read or write either language due to a lack of government spending on education. The continued poverty of the masses led to wide-spread emigration for a period of 10-15 years. It was also in this period that slightly communistic Chancellor Baldwin was assassinated by the ACA. This was the ACA's first known job.

The Glorius Revolution-
On June 3, 1990, a new Chancellor by the name of Fuhrer Richtoff was elected into office upon his promise to "end impoverishment forever." He swiftly moved against the bicameral legislative branch, reforming it into the single housed parliament. While the public was initially outraged, after his first year in office the citizens of Kampfers began to notice dramatic improvements in their way of life. After resoundingly reelecting him that year, Fuhrer Richtoff sensed his chance. He declared himself Fuhrer, and the public applauded. While subtle pockets of resistance remained, he satisfied them by giving the parliament several noteworthy powers. As this revolution has led to the evolution of Kampfers into a great nation, it has become known as "The Glorius Revolution." Now, Fuhrer Richtoff has Kampfers on the precipé of international greatness.

Recent History-
In recent years, Kampfers has been involved in many different international organizations and affairs. Kampfers holds close relations to the nations of Wagdog, Vetaka, and Honako, even though they are no longer linked by a common alliance. Kampfers was a breif member of the Dominion Commonwealth, and played a key role in the attempted negotiations of a truce between The Blub Colony and Hataria. Kampfers was invaded breifly by the Griffencrest Corporation, but an overwhelming international response forced them on to a different nation. Kampfers participated in the blockade of FreeAngola for a time. Kampfers also invaded the nation of United Fundamentalism, who nuked themselves to prevent themselves from falling into Kampferian hands. Kampfers was a member of UFAN, however withdrew after The Fighting Stars nuked Vetaka and Richtoff realized the UFAN charter denied nuclear retaliation. Rumours abound, however, that there is a pending change to the UFAN charter that would permit nuclear retaliation. Richtoff is known to have stated that he would rejoin UFAN if this happened. Kampfers remains a member of the New Prussian Empire and COMECON-SD.
