Yesterday, Rome's navy was attacked at port by the nation of Maldorias, claiming a small contingent of fishing boats as the cause of her ire. Since that time, She has been declared war on (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=531349) by Emporer Pudu, Leafanistan, New Ausha, and Neo Eurasia completely unprovoked.

The fall of the Empire is inevitable if She is unaided. She therefore beseeches the nations of the world to offer her assistance against this threat. The lives of millions are at stake.

However, we are willing to provide refuge for any citizen of your nation who wishes to flee, and, in the event of an occupation, we are willing to provide a home for a government-in-exile. Official Stance of the Dictorial Republic of Sumer

We have reviewed the situation at hand breifly, and are throughly disgusted by the offensive actions. We believe it would be more in the interest of the parties involved to talk this out rather then jump to the idea of a war. We consider this especially important to the offensive nations, many of whom are already engaged in other conflicts and may be unable to afford yet another major conflict such as this appears to be shaping up to be.

While we have no intention as of now to become functionally involved in this conflict, we are more then willing to offer the Roman government a place to retreat to if they can not stave off the imperialistic aggression. We will also be much more open to those who wish to press a diplomatic solution to this problem.

Surely children can solve such petty differences in more efecient and peaceful manners as this.

While our interests in the Mediterranean are only small in size, being as we have a colony in the Middle East, I must protest this 'Cry for Help.'

Gens Romae is misrepresenting themselves as some sort of innocent nation, attempting to seem like a victim. Those fishing boats were nothing of the sort, and until now, we are actually embarrassed for even admitting it, but Gens Romae's fishing boats were actually disguised spy ships, using off the shelf components to spy on our naval bases.

While fishing boats violate sovereignty by accident often, the fact that it occurred so often near our naval bases suspicion rose. We chased them out, unable to confirm what exactly they were doing until the Maldorians jumped the gun and blasted the devices.

Our collective intelligence agencies have been analyzing the remains of the computers and radios left over. They are a mixed hodge-podge, a poor excuse for a spy ship, but through a very clever algorithm, they have actually managed to decrypt some of the Leafanistani Port Traffic, which uses a weaker cipher than Military Port Traffic.

Included are pictures of the remains of the radio, and a printout of the intercepts we could recover from the ship. Each radio seems to be different as they were constructed haphazardly but by someone with knowledge of what they were doing.

Finding a clear threat to our national security, we tried to negotiate, but were shot down by denials, and then after a memo received by the Maldorians we realized their intentions were warlike.

This is a preemptive strike, in defense of our interests.

This unprovoked attack on the Nation of Gen Romae is absolutely unacceptable. These fishing boat were obviously unarmed. If they did not enter your territorial waters then you had know right to Attack and kill these innocent fishermen, and if they did enter your territorial water all you had to do is request for them to leave your waters. If they refused then you could peacefully escort them out of your territory. Either way the way you and your allies reacted to this situation was ill conceived and entirely inappropriate. You then moved to declare war on this Nation. Perhaps this memo did threaten your Nation, but obviously it was done primarily out of anger. My administration confidently believes that the Nation of Gens Romae would not have made any further move against your Sovereignty if You had not declared war on them. You have although every right to keep these fishermen out of your waters, but have no right to use force and military power against them. Perhaps this radio was used by the Fishermen to stay in contact if the need arises. You have know presentable evidence that could possibly confirm that these were spy boats.

The Technocrats of Etoile Arcture have watched with increasing alarm the deteoriating situation as it has developed in the Mediterranean. The unprovoked and unfounded attack on Gens Romae by the axis of nations led by Maldoria is a crime against humanity no free-thinking man, woman or child can ignore or condone. We fully support the sentiments expressed by the esteemed leaders of Dostanuot Loj that hostilities should end and the warring parties come to the negotiating table to achieve a permanent peace.

If this is not possible, we call upon the international community to condemn these actions, and if neccessary form a coalition of the willing to come to the aid of the people of Gens Romae. We hope a peaceful solution can be yet be found to this conflict, but if not, the Chief Technocrat hereby orders the 2d and 3d Expeditionary Brigade Combat Groups, supported by the 2d Air Fleet, to placed on immediate standby for deployment to Gens Romae. The Chief Technocrat furthermore sends an open request to other same-thinking nations to join us in a coalition of the willing to end this criminal adventure by Maldoria in the lands of Gens Romae.

My Nation does have a relatively weak military but we are preparing to rapidly bring our nation's Military to fighting Capacity. If any further aggression is shown toward my nation I will request support from other nations. I am hoping that this crisis does not continue on it's projected path. Vetalia needs new naval bases in order to keep our fleet supplied around the world, and we would be more than interested in leasing some occupied territory for this end.

Since overt military engagement would not be a wise move at this time, we are more than willing to provide economic and financial aid in exchange for negotiating a lease of coastal territory as our sovereign property with the intent of constructing strategic basing, shipyard and logistics facilities on the land we lease. If you are interested, we are more than ready to move forward at this time. What everyone forgets is the victim is everyone in the Mediterranean Sea who is bombarded by these warhawk messages spewed by the leadership of Rome. They proclaim peace only when it turns out they have awakened a sleeping giant who does not take kindly to those who steal his sheep, eat his stored food, and even smashes his pots.

We of the international community, those who examine the evidence carefully and are not nosy-Nellies who burst into a room shouting and screaming, can find Rome has offered many such provocations.

Today we reveal more from our coffers of intelligence, things we never meant to share, for everyone's sake.

About a week ago, Glorious Republican intelligence received word of a massacre inside a Catholic Church run by the Opus Dei sect. We didn't act on it, we kept hostilities quiet as we gathered more evidence. A day before the Spy Ships refused to leave Maldorian waters a Maldorian submarine stalking around the Mediterranean Sea raised its periscope nearly onto a body floating in the water.

It was a priest, decayed heavily from its dumping into the sea, burned heavily, floating in the water. After an autopsy, it was revealed the cause of death was gunshot wounds, the body was burned post-mortem. A small bronze cross on his neck indicated he was a member of Opus Dei. Combined with the Spy Ship incident, this gave us, Pudu, Maldorians, New Ausha, and the Glorious Republic enough reason to decide that hiding in the shadows was enough.

Autopsy has shown that the body was perforated by 3 bullets, one at the 4th vertebrae, probably the cause of death, one in the upper abdomen; collapsing a lung, and finally another shot in the left arm. With all due respect: There are too many people in this particular rp opposing me for me to rightfully be able to keep up with the events thereof in a reasonable manner. The number of nations opposing and the strength of the nations are disproportionate. The chain of events leading up to the war, and even in the war itself, are incredibly confusing to me.

That said, I fail to see how our leaders have even had enough discourse with each other even to to create any real international awareness of my nation.

I lost my first nation because I did the same thing with only 12 million people. I just made a new nation (Leafanistan) and I did it well. Take it as a learning experience and don't chicken out. Have you ever considered that all of these allegations are IC?
