First there was the Extra Solar Union of Systems, created at the end of the Shivan Wars. Then came the Galactic Empire, who under Emperor Palpatine of Unified Sith, took control of a greater part of the galaxy. From this tyranny came the Alliance of Naggeroth, under their leading nation of Gronde. And while all these powers passed through the ages of war and peace alike, another alliance was formed. The Republic.
The Republic has witnessed much, and participated in more. It has seen the rise of the GFFA, or Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, even going as far as fighting two wars with some of its founding nations. The Republic has witnessed the power of the Galactic Empire and the Chronosian Imperium first hand, and has survived it. It has witnessed the many wars of the lesser nations within the galaxy, it has even started many of its own, ending with the collection of territory, slaves, and ressources for the citizens of the Republic. The Republic has witnessed the constant flux of power that comes and goes from the Galactic Empire, and it has seen the near destruction of the GFFA at the hands of the ESUS, even lending hundreds of starships and billions of dollars to aid them. We have seen much.
We have seen peace, war, and internal strife. We have survived the traitorous rebellions and civil wars of those who betrayed the Republic. We have survived the tyrannous leadership of many in-noble leaders who saught to make themselves Kings amongst us. We have seend change, innovation, and reformation, and have held up against all their malices, whilst incorporating all their strengths. We have survived every hardship imaginable, and been made stronger for it.
And now we invite you to become apart of our noble and strong society and civilisation, to add your own knowledge to our own and take what we know already, to strengthen both yours and our economies, to lead and fight with the heroic Legions, to help mold a civilisation that will stand the test of time, and to aid us drive the spear of light, justice, order and virtue to all corners of the stars.
Overview of Our Society and Inner Workings
The Republic Itself
Whilst technically an alliance(and is viewed as one by outsiders), the Republic is in all accounts a singular nation. Upon entering the Republic, you will undergo several changes.
First of all, your entire military(excluding police forces, militias, et cetera) shall be confiscated and sent to training fields and military installations to receive light training in all the forms of combat familiar within the Republic, in the workings of all Republican weaponry and technology, and to be taught an unflinching loyalty to the Republic as a whole instead of the singular nation that they hail from. Don't worry, you'll still be able to use the Legions, but this will be discussed later on.
Secondly, you will no longer be a sovereign nation, but a province of the Republic subject to the will and decree of the Republican Senate. You shall no longer be able to elect your own leaders, but a provincial governor shall be appointed by the Senate. More of this will be discussed later.
Your economy shall be completely incorporated into that of the Republic. You shall adopt the common currency, the denarii, and restrictions on trade, including tarrifs and the like, placed on other provinces shall be forbidden. Every province shall work as a whole, not seperate entities. Concerning denarii, all funds that the people and the former government has shall be taken and replaced to the exact amount of value into denarii and returned to the people, so there is no loss in funds.
Lastly, until you prove yourselves worthy, you shall remain simply a 'member' province, instead of a 'citizen' one. What this means is that you shall not be able to participate in any level of administration, nor in any military command posts. Upon gaining citizenship for your province, you shall have all rights and abilities to do as you wish, for we are not tyrants nor do we wish to control you.
Government
The Republican government is divided into four sectors: Federal Executive, Federal Legislative, Provincial, and Municipal. Each has their own areas of governance, and their own abilities and powers.
Federal Executive
The Republican Senate holds supreme executive power within the Republic. This appointed body has control over the military, the federal budget, international diplomacy, as well as a few civil structures and ammenities, such as hyperspace routes, trade corridors, public bath houses, hospitals, schools, et cetera. Only those citizens appointed by the Consuls are allowed to take part within the Senate.
Federal Legislative
The People's Assembly holds supreme legislative power within the Republic. This governing body has the power to propose, create, and repel laws within the Republic. Each citizen province can elect from amongst themselves three(3) representatives to speak for the province within the Assembly. Out of these assembly members, the entire citizen population of the Republic elects five(5) Tribunes, who preside over the Assembly. The Tribunes are also the people's representative within the Senate, and holds the power of veto over anything the Senate does.
Provincial
To better manage the provinces, Pro-Consuls are selected from amongst the Senate and sent to govern the populus of an area. They are in control of all the funds the province raises(and charged with the assurance that the federal taxes are paid), any and all Legions stationed within the province(unless otherwise specified by the Senate), provincial laws that are not in contradiction to any federal ones, and certain civil structures.
Municipal
Municipal leaders are elected officials who govern individual cities. The people of every city may elect anyone they so choose from amongst themselves to govern their homes.
