SIC:

The ACA was almost ready. At their base in The Peoples Freedom, they had developed one of the darkest secrets of this age. In their project (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=530766), they had created one of the worst viruses to ever disgrace the planet. It had the lethalness of Ebola, it developed as slowly as mononucleosis, and it had the capability to be spread by phyiscal contact, such as the shaking of a hand, or the giving of a high-five. And now, the ACA was ready to unleash it's weapon on an unsuspecting prey. The nation of North Calaveras was chosen to be the first to feel the ACA's wrath. They had been very active lately in campainging for communism, and were rumoured to hold two different communist terrorist groups. The virus would send a strong message to all communists.

Ben Wheeler was one of the ACA's newest members. He was willing to give his life for the cause, and this was what was being asked of him. As such, he willingly submtted to the needle that infected him with the disease at the ACA base in The Peoples Freedom. After that, he was escorted by several people in full suits to a waiting car, where he got in and drove to a public airport. Waiting for him there was a private jet. He climbed in the back, and waited. Time ticked by. The pilot did not know what was in the person he was flying, but he knew that he was to remain in NC until the man wished to return. Little did he know that neither of them would ever return.

IC:

The flight landed at North Calaveras' bustling airport in its capital city. Climing out of the plane in the chartered hanger, the pilot and Wheeler went to the rental car terminal. The pilot and Wheeler exchanged a few papers, and bumped hands in the process. When renting the car, both shook hands in a friendly fashion with the rental car service man. The process had begun.

From there, the pilot rented one car and drove to a nearby hotel, where he rented a room. In a friendly fashion, he shook hands and greeted everyone he met.

Wheeler, on the other hand, had a more important task. He went to the Nort Calaveras government building and waited. It was early in the morning, the sun was shining, and soon, a few of the main leaders in North Calaveras would arrive.

EDIT: OOC: And there will be an antidote, so don't ignore this. Just hope your nation doesn't get infected. And if it does, wait for the antidote.

Turning and leaving Johnson bumped into a man talking to yet another Rental Clerk Johnson respectful as always apologised.

3 Hours Later....................

Vetakan Embassy, Embassy Sector, North Calaveras:

As part of the wider "Vetakan Security International Program" all Vetakan Embassies and Consulates in every nation where now fitted with Air Monitoring Systems as well as Embassy Staff where ramdomly tested for diseases that could spread to Vetaka via Diplomatic Travel. As a result Alan Johnson was unlucky enough to be swapped by his CO as he entered the building. Moaning Alan complied and filled out the form little did he know he may have just saved a few Million Lives in the process. The CO carried the little swob without a care in the world into the small First Aid Room pushing the Swob into the automated test machine he read the Local Sports Section of the paper when all of a sudden the machine began to make a rapid beeping sound which was not natural looking up the CO nervously checked a small screen flashing on the screen where two words that made the CO's heart sink:

"SARAS DETECTED".

The CO blinked hopefully trying to ensure he was a awake and this wasn't a dream unluckly for him this was no dream he snatched up a phone on the wall and quickly dialled the extenstion number for the Ambassadors Office it rang and rang all the while the CO spat the words "Come on Women" eventually it answered and a womens voice spoke:

"Hello Ambassador Rollins here?"

"Ma'am its Captain Jones listern to me is anybody in your office now?" asked Jones

"No Why?" replied Rollins

"Code Purple 101. Lock your Office Door and Secure all windows take the Pistol out of the Lockbox and shoot anybody whom attempts to enter the Office." replied Jones attempting to be as calm as possible but failing

"Why?" ordered the Ambassador

"No Time to Explain at the moment Ma'am Do what I have told you! Thats an order under the Diplomatic Emgergancy Powers Act 2000 I order you as your Head of Security to do it for your own protection" replied a now very distress Jones

Upstairs within the Ambassadors Office Rollins walked around her desk and proceed to shut the door when her secretary entered and handed her a file taking it they made the briefest of contacts. Rollins following as ordered by her Head of Security ordered her secretary to leave shut the door locked it from the inside and retrieved the E-57 Service Pistol from the Lockbox within her Desk loading it she sat back down and waited.

Back down stairs in the First Aid Room Captain Jones head of Embassy Security ran out of the room and down the corridoor and into the Security Control Room without speaking to the occupants he hit the Red Alert Button and an Alarm Began to Sound and Light around the building began to flash red with this the guards around the Complex began to Throw all none Vetakans out of the complex and into the street and secure the Perimeter and the buildings many floors and rooms eventually the large Iron Reinforced Gates swung shut and where locked. It was now that all began to wonder just what was happening with no visible reason for this Lock Down the PA System cracked into life and Captain Jones began to brief everybody on the situation:

"This Captain Jones I apologise for the Lock Down however we are now Code Purple 101 we have detected SARAS within the building until we recieve Authorization from New Theeb or the North Calaveras Government we will be remaining Locked Down as a result we all know the Emergancy Code Purple Protocals well we should do we practice it so many times you all have your duties so get to it you will recieve more information as we get it. Thank You and Remain Calm"

All they could do now was wait for the Phone Call from the Foreign Office of VDF Operational Command back in New Theeb.

Exiting the Embassy through the main door Captain Jones slowly made his way to the main gate all the while thinking what he could tell the North Calaveras Ambassador regarding the situation, first of all Jones was wondering how in the hell the North Calaveras Government know the Embassy was Locked Down. He eventually arrived at the gate and smiled ensuring he and his men didn't touch anybody in this was an outbreak of SARS it could be isolated to the Vetakan Embassy and until he recieved orders from Theeb he could not do anything:

"I am afraid this is a Field Exercise we apologise for not informing your Government about it. We are simulating having to Lock Down the Embassy because of an internal situation. Any Questions?"

Kampfers, does we know something about this (as we're in NPE), i.e. been told to not let anyone from NC enter Grosse Reich's territory (makes sense, don't you think)?
If that's the case I may RP flights from NC that normally land in Berlin Stadt are having their flight permission cancelled (without specifying the reason of course).
If we don't have been warned about this, it may seem a bit strange.

The Disease Control center was placed on full alert 24/7 and in the process of gathering what info. they could from intel. The drug companies were put onto standby for production of a vaccine at a moments notice. And all border and airport patrols were under orders to quarantine anyone from NC.

you would know that it takes 21 days to develop symptoms, and that is only a fever. Death occurs within 31 days. Bloodily. And is spread by contact, so you should be having a massive outbreak in your nation, and if more people would answer this, the world.

OOC: NC, you're in the Hegemony, right? If so, would it be acceptable for me to RP the bases I have in your nation? I won't invade or whatnot, just use it as a tool to advance the infection. (Lord Sumguy agreed, on behalf of your entire alliance, that I could build an Army and an Air Force base in each of your nations.)

Sargeant Harriett Glover sat in the Command Room of the Diplomatic Security Centre which was a 24/7 Manned Command Centre whose aim it was to provide 24/7 support to Vetakan Ambassadors and Vetakan Embassies around the world in times of crisis the Diplomatic Security Centre would be the first to be aware of a crisis in any Embassy around the world as any Red Alert trigged in an Embassy would trigger a indentical alert within the Security Centre as a result Harriett was rather startled to be disturbed from her book by a Flashing Light and a beeping Alarm looking up from the book she checked her monitor on the screen flashed:

"Red Alert Code Purple 101- SARS- North Calaveras"

Blinking to ensure she wasn't dreaming she yanked up her phone and hit the number 1 speed dial button it rang and eventually answered:

"Its Glover we have a situation Sir you better get down here".

9 Minutes Later.................

The Security Room was now a hive of activity buzzing with Operations Officers eventually the door opened and a man entered in full VDF Uniform around 6ft5 he towered over its occupants he was a man of muscular build, blonde hair, blue eyes and a smile he was General Donald Richardson Head of the VDF Diplomatic Guard approaching the Sargeant he saluted and began:

"Report?"

Sargeant Glover returned the salute:

"Our Embassy in NC is Code Purple 101 SARS. We are preparing to make contact and a Bio unit is preparing to move out?"

Richardson nodded:

"Is the Northern Calaveras Government aware of this?"

"No Sir the Foreign Office has decided to wait until we know what is going on" replied Glover.

All flights from NC were banned from entering the country, and all planes heading for NC were ordered to turn back. The Greal army base in NC was far away from the scene, however, the commander ordered the banning or food arriving from the NC cities, he got his food fromn Greal ships instead.

A large group of men entered a Hammer transport plane, the plane took off with 5 Shark fighters as escorts.

Air Marshal Hagop Darbinian rested his head on the glass surface of his desk, looking groggily at that morning's edition of Dilbert in the Kensington Times.

"Perhaps you should drink less vodka at night," muttered a small voice in his head.

"Don't listen to this fucking pussy, you suckwad!" screamed another. "Drink as much fucking goddamn alcohol as you can cram into your fucking pencilpushing body, you asshat!"

It was times like these that Darbinian feared his mind. He had once heard that the human body used only 5% of total brain mass, and constantly worried what the voices would do if they had the other 95% of it. But, then again, the voices, really, were merely personifications of two different thought processes, used to help him understand the abstract concept of cogitation.

"Fuck 'em both," Darbinian finally decided. His wallowing in the tenebrous swamp of incessant pondering, though, was interrupted by a timid rap on his door.

"Enter," the Air Marshal groaned, rubbing his eyes as he attempted to wake up.

A young corporal in a crisp, cerulean uniform marched in solemnly, carrying the day's dispatches from Kensington and various summaries of the happenings in North Calaveras.

"Sir, Squadron Leader Vicario instructed me to direct your attention to the red communiqué at the top," the corporal said sharply.

"Thank you; dismissed."

The red folder had the words "People's Sovereign Republic" embossed on it, as well as the words "Confidential" and "Priority Level One" stamped in black ink.

Darbanian was hardly prepared for the report; how could he have forseen the infection? And, unfortunately, the women under his command, the Legio Aeronaute III Femina, an all-female FA-22 wing, had been mingling with the populace since well before the infection had been discovered by health officials.

"Holy shit," he muttered, as he began to order the sealing of the base. Nearby Fort Aldergrove probably was doing the same at this very moment.

He was an ordinary man who had just left NCIA after a business trip and had arrived home in ELR. Mark was unaware of the passenger he cared with him. This passenger had been received by the security personal as he entered his plane.

Poor fortune had caused Mark to come into contact with the same man who had checked Ben Wheeler 15 days earlier.

Mark was looking forward to seeing his family since he had been out of town for over a week. And tomorrow was his sons 8th birthday.

The pilot lay in his hotel bed. For two days now he had had a killer headache and a raging fever. All of a sudden, he felt like he needed to throw up. He ran into the bathroom, but collapsed before making it. Out of his mout rushed crimson blood, with black specs intermixed. What had happened to him? Wheeler was suffering from similar syptoms in his room. The disease had progressed rapidly through these two men, as their immune systems were not up to snuff. However, within a few days many other people should be falling ill of the same symptoms.

Mark had been home for about a week when he was hit with a burning fever. Mark was not one who was bed ridden from fevers and illnesses, but this time it was crippling to the point where his vision was blurred and his hearing would intermidently fail.

His wife became worried when he became delirious and had a fever over 105 degrees F. panicking she called an Ambulance to rush him to the hospital.

Meanwhile back at the capital news from NC about some sort fever that was running rampant through airport personnel reached Lord Raug.

"Do we know the cause of this?"

"No Sir, we only have some initial reports about unusually high numbers of absent employees. It could be nothing."

"Find out some more information contact Intel and inform them to probe into these illnesses. Have them pull some medical records from the hospitals. If it turns out to be nothing have them return to standard operations. If its serious they are to pull out and be placed into quarantine until we are sure they are not contaminated. Also issue P-087 effective immediately. Should it turn into something serious upgrade to ED-087."

"Sir is that a little extreme? P-087 when for all we know it is just the flu? Putting all agencies on a Hot Zone Alert seems a bit rash" exclaimed Meyers

"Normal I would agree, but there has been unrest in that region and tension has been building. And i just can't believe that an unknown out break just happens to occur in an airport."

Meyers quickly left to issue orders.

North Calaveras, Military Hospital:

The Bakula moved swiftly over the Water her Pure White Body she flew the colours of the Free Dominion of Vetaka. Sealed completely in from the outside world the Bakula generated her own Oxygen and Water. On the Helicopter Pad of the ship a Duel Decontamination Door opened and a Helicopter Crew exited wearing Decontamination Suits they boarded a waiting Chinnok starting her up it rose from the pad and sped towards the NC Shoreline flying over the cities they flew quick and as fast as possible realsing time was of the essence here. Eventually they reached there destination a heavily guarded Military Hospital setting down on a Helipad the rear door of the Chopper Open and 7 people exited again in full De-Contamination they approached the waiting NC Personnel whom were not in anything protective clothing exchanging a Data Disk of the Paitents Names eventually the NC Troops brought out the 6 Males and 6 Females they where in high spirits except for the Childern whom where more scared and quiet the Vetakans gave them teddys and led them to various seats and Stretchers strapping them into place with the Seat Belts the Vetakans where as warm as possible the whole operation took just 7 Minutes and the Chinnok was back in the area the investigation had begun.

North Calaveras Sea:

The Bakula deployed her Sensors to take Air and Water Samples to check for anything out of the ordinary this would occur every hour and the Results checked every hour to ensure nothing would be missed.

Inteligence Officer 1st Class Thomas Pritchard was carrying out routine communications monitoring from GCHQ located withing the secretive Tiberium Mountain Complex in south Kobunite when the news came in.

A field operative, to remain unnamed, has found out that a popular tourist destination for the people of Kobunite - North Calaveras is potentially in the midst of an outbreak of an infectious diesease.

The news spread like fire among the security services, ironically, reaching the top of the chain around 2 hours after the Janitors.

"This is Barry Scott reporting from out side Upping Street. The Prime Minister of Kobunite has today issued surprising and somewhat concerning orders. Everyone who is known to have travelled to the North Calaveras region, within the last 6 weeks, is to report immediately to the nearest Police or Military installation following an outbreak of a potentially infectious virus in the region. Equally, anyone in close contact with someone who travelled to the NC region is urged be vigilent for extremely violent fevers.

The news about the outbreak in the NC region is currently somewhat thin on the ground but the Home Office has said that the media and the people will be kept very well informed.

We have also be asked to broardcast the following instruction:- All A class Reservists, Special Constables and Medical Auxilleries are to report to their duty station at 0730 tomorrow morning in order to cope with the ingress of an estimated 10,000,000 people due to what is alread being called the NC legislation. It has come to the attention of the Asgarnian Office of National Health that a deadly virus similar to the Motumba Virus in symptoms has been released in North Calavaras.

Since North Calavaran airliners are banned in Asgarnieu, there is little concern about any sort of release of this virus within Asgarnieu. However, any person who has traveled to North Calavaras is urged to report to their local hospital or military facility. If you have traveled to North Calavaras within the past two months, refrain from phyiscal contact with other persons, and report to your local hospital or military facility for confirmation and/or treatment.

There is a cure, and we are confident that the manditory at-birth immunizations will cover this strain.

Symptoms are similar to that of the Motumba virus, with weakness, lethargy, extreme fatigue, vomiting of blood, and death. The incubation period seems to be similar to that of mononucleosis. If you are vomiting blood with small black specks in it, report to your local hospital or military facility for treatment.

The Free Dominion of Vetaka is currently monitoring the on going crisis regarding the virual infection currently spreading throughout North Calaveras as a result as of now all Travel between Vetaka and NC is hearby suspended all Flights between both nations are cancelled as well as any and all shipping. The situation is expanding swiftly. In the last day or so some 12,986,324 people have reported to medical, police or military installations after visiting the NC region within the last 6 to 8 weeks. About a third of those have developed a heavy fever. The average amount of time between leaving the NC region and developing symptoms is around 24.6 days. Around 10k deaths have been reported but this could be a much higher figure.

The military is currently on full alert and there are only a minority of cases appearing in the Military at the moment due to the recent exercises preventing the soldiers and their families from going on holidays. Agent Carson was a 7th-year veteran of the IPCA, Internal Presidential Consulting Agency, a sort of "secret service."

The CBDC (Chemical and Biological Defense Command) was the Asgarnian counterpart to the U.S. CDC.

As a red light and a klaxon in the central office went off, two teams were mobilized. They recieved their instructions, and made their way to Balkan City Air Force Base.

They boarded a C-97 Pelican cargo aircraft headed for North Calavaras. They would be airdropped over the nation with full biological and chemical protection. With them would be IPCA Field Task Force 2-Bravo. They, too would be protected.

The empire has now been under siege by this virus for several weeks without much change in the outlook. The latest reports had just come in and Lord Raug was sitting at his desk exhausted from his deprivation of sleep of the past weeks.

All Lord Raug could do was sit back and hope that this miracle recovery provided some answer. At the very least it seemed that the spread had been slowed and possible stopped.

24 Days Before, North Calaveras Airport

"God, this was terrible." Jerome was your typical upper middle-class Honakon, snobbish and anti-Communist, unless it applied to their allies who practiced it. Everywhere he turned he seemed to see poor people, grey and Sons of Lenin propaganda - it made Honakon look like the most pleasant country in the world.

"It's a business trip, we had to do it. Though, I must agree, and the people are rather rude..." His companion Elisa said as she pushed past a pilot who looked like they were in a rush to get somewhere.

Present Day, Liche (Capital Of Honako), Bluseh District - Population: 12,366

The Bluseh District, one of the smallest in the capital of Honako, Liche, was about to become one of the most famous. It was home to both Elisa and Jerome, who were low down government officials working on building economic ties with Communist nations – an unfruitful job that mostly saw them try and get cheap goods from the commie nations with failed economies. The district was mostly made of five or six story medium sized flats with little green spaces – amenities were few, though it was located near the centre, and generally it was an average compact housing area.

Once the government had heard of the outbreak of a deadly virus from NC, they had checked all travel records from their over the past month. No flight service went to the country, and in 33 days only one flight had stopped off in Honako – and two people, workers in a government agency for communist economic development, were found to have been on it. They were intensely monitored, and when over 343 cases of terrible fever were declared in the Bluseh District, the government acted it’s plans into place, and the people were not allowed to leave the area, and were closely guarded with arms and the piecing gazes of Honakon soldiers in protective suits.

The people of the district had surrendered to any hopes of survival, this was Honakon – it was over, and whilst half would likely be dead from the disease within a week, and they would follow. The rest of the country was being vaccinated with this free provisional Vetakan vaccine, and they were doomed, doomed to be exterminated by an horrific disease or their own Commission, soon everyone would be dead and they could do nothing.

This is a formal request for you to allow the specially created Task Force Zeus to approach and enter your National Waters and to land elements of 3rd Special Operations Group along with elements of 101st Airbourne Logistics Group in order for use to engage the Terrorsist group identified in your nation.

Task Force Zeus includes

4 Champion Class Supercarriers (HMS Ark Royal,HMS Champion,HMS National Pride,HMS Hammersmith)
2 Ticonderoga Class Missile Destroyers (HMS Hoodoo,HMS Cydonia)
4 Daring Class Missile Destroyers (HMS Delusion, HMS Brighton, HMS Daring, HMS Kingdom)
5 Brandenburg Class Frigates
2 Dunkirk Class Hospital Ships (HMS Saviour, HMS Valient)

as well as supporting aircraft. The SOG troops will be travelling with the fleet on the commandeered ship MSC Ericsson.

Upon completing landing operations Task Force Zeus will withdraw to international waters with the exception of the 2 Dunkirk Class Hospital Ships who will remain in close to augiment your medical facilities.

It was night when the MSC Ericsson drew up to the Harbour on the east coast of North Calaveras. As soon as it docked and the ramps had been secured the first company of soldiers disembarked. The soldiers were in Combat dress, albiet a relaxed form, and carried their personal weapons. Their Captain, Captain Moyles was met by a burley NC Major who introduced himself as being called Hans Groubler. The Major led them to an empty warehouse which was to be a staging point before they, and their equipment were moved to a military airfield some 50Km outside the city.

Some 1000 Special operations troopers were being landed along with their RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats), Land Rover 4 x 4s and NightHawk choppers.

"This sure is a nice town Sarn't Major" said Private Terry Orange as they walked to the warehouse.
"Yeah it is Terry, just a pity that we've came all this way to fight goddam terros" Replied Sgt Major Bellamy
"Sure is Sarn't Major, well lets hope these North Calaveras boys know how to fight. By the looks of it we might need their help"
"Ha! We won't need any help, even the help of the Air Force pukes we brought along with us for the ride"
