Royal Yamalian Army Forces Review
Salekhard
Entering the Modern Age

An Overview:
The Royal Army of the Kingdom of North Yamalia is an advanced and fully modern force, completely integrated with the tactics and technology of its day; the battlefields of the 21st Century. Fully sixty-thousand strong, the Line Infantry, Grenadiers, and Guards Infantry serve on the nation's front-lines against any foe.

Wielding their new, Gewehr 98 infantry rifles, the infantry of the King do battle in whatever climes may take them. For years the top Generals of Yamalia have studied in depth the doctrines of a Pocket Defense and Trench Warfare. From within their masterfully constructed fortifications, no foe can dispatch a determined Yamalian Grenadier.

The artillery are the pride of the Royal Army, their strength is unrivaled on the face of battle. From the small, 90mm gun/howitzers, to the massive 420mm siege howitzers, nothing can withstand a Yamalian barrage.

And when some extra muscle is required, the Yamalian Armored Corps can be called upon to serve their country. Fully two-hundred armored behemoths wait at their lord’s beck and call. The T-64, a miraculous piece of engineering.

No line can hold against a coordinated assault of the T-64, the disciplined Yamalian Grenadiers, and the deadly precision of the Yamalian Artillery Corps.

The Line Infantry: (http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/9383/yamalianlineinfantrywh6.jpg)
These brave souls are the backbone of the Yamalian Army. Forty-thousand men serve in the Line Infantry, and all are of great valor and strength. They carry their weapons into battle with pride, knowing that it is their blood that will shape their nation's future, and define its place among the great powers.

Each Yamalian boy is put through a rigorous series of physical tests when he reaches the age of eight. Those that succeed appropriately, are drafted to serve with the Line Infantry. Each city and province in Yamalia is responsible for maintaining their own divisions of Line Infantry, and each division is commanded by a local General or other officer.

Following their recruitment, they undergo a strenuous eight-year program designed to initiate them into the dogma of the Kingdom of Yamalia and the will of their King, and to drill into them a deep sense of loyalty and camaraderie with their comrades in arms.

The first series of trained conscripts is being put through their final weeks now, in time for the Army Forces Review.

The Grenadiers: (http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/5306/yamaliangrenadiernf8.jpg)
The Grenadiers are those elite infantry that serve as line breakers in difficult sieges, Stormtroopers to push along the assault of their Line brethren, and as the garrison forces for many of the important cities in Yamalia.

These unique men are chosen from the very top candidates in the physical exams used to decide whether or not a specific Yamalian will serve as an infantrymen or not. They are trained two years beyond what the Line receives, entering battle not at sixteen, but the experienced age of eighteen.

They are fanatically loyal and willing to die for their Kingdom and their Army. Training places an emphasis on the group mentality, and five coordinating Grenadiers are far more dangerous than five individuals of the Line.

There are only two full divisions of Grenadiers, both of five-thousand men. The first is based in the largest city in Yamalia, Noyabrsk, while the second division is garrisoned in the second largest city, Novy Urengoy.

Both maintain small special forces companies, which can operate independently of the division, should a specific situation require a more subtle approach than a barrage and bayonet.

The Guards Infantry: (http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/7987/yamalianguardsinfantryfz9.jpg)
The Guards Infantry Division of the Royal Yamalian Infantry Corps is the best of the best of Yamalian Infantry. It is an entirely volunteer force, and its loyalty is unquestionable.

They are veterans of the revolutionary wars, and will continue to accept only combat veterans of implacable courage and skill. There are only six-thousand of these elite men, but they are enough to ensure the safety of the King and his capital, in Salekhard. They hardly ever take the field, but when they do, the enemy should fear...

The Infantry Corps of Yamalia is organized along standard lines across the country, which begins with the Platoon, of fifty soldiers. Four of these platoons makes a Company, of two-hundred men. Five companies generally makes up a Battalion, of one-thousand men.

From here, orginization begins to differ as different units decide exactly how many battalions create a Division, ranging from as few as five, to as many as fifteen. All in all, though, the division is always the smallest formation deployed overseas. The problem is, as commanders often fail to look and see exactly how many each division has, there are often far to few or far to many soldiers deployed to any one theater. Hopefully, this problem can be rectified as the command gains more experience.

The Artillery and Armored Corps of Yamalia are both oranized along similar lines, with their smalest operational unit, the Squadron, being made up of fifteen units. Four of these squadrons will comprise a Platoon, and three platoons are known as a Battalion. A battalion will contain one-hundred and eighty of either type of unit, and that is often seen as enough to counter one threat or another at any one point on a battlefield or indeed in a small theater of operations.

Of course further vehicles serve the Royal Yamalian Infantry, such as the Sd Kfz series of half-tracked vehicles, ranging from the 20mm flak cannons of the Sd Kfz10/5, to the 75mm anti-tank gun of the Sd Kfz 233.
