New Russia, Capital of Theoroshia

The Head Director, now the supreme commander of Theoroshia, looked out the office window. New Russia was located relatively close to the sea shore, so therefore he could see about 15 miles out to where Army trucks were unloading supplies. On the Eastern shore, Theoroshia was preparing for an invasion by an actual nation. Typical, the Head Director thought. In the countries most historic moment, it's own people (sort of) plan to invade their own country. How ironic indeed.

Army engineers were using specially modified tractors to lay down an intricate series of trenches. Every 1/4 of a mile or so, a medium sized pill box was set up, where three .60 cal machine guns protected it's inhabitants. Additionally, smaller bunkers were set up where a .50 cal protected supplies. Holes were dug into the ground, with a "roof" on top where a small hole was left. This way, mortars hidden in these holes could fire unseen on landing ships.

Barbed wire was set up, and mines were hastily laid down. Farther back, 55 and 75 millimeter guns were set up along side Katyusha rockets to fire on enemy ships. Army Chief Engineer Koslov looked at what his engineer platoon had done. He was proud.

Rebels, armed with stolen and illegally bought M-4s from capitalist nations who wished to see communism destroyed boarded outdated, yet still working, Higgins boats, intent on overthrowing the government and setting up a dictatorship. Older missile frigates, such as the Kalaya class, were being used as well.

General Rio del Kalayevoch sat down in his office with a vodka, one of the older Russian kinds. He sighed. It would be a good day.

Explosions marked the beginning of the rebel assault. Rebel commanders, operating from older Gladiator class command destroyers ordered the Kalayas to fire regular missiles, while the destroyers would fire their 120 and 150 millimeter cannons at the beach. Additionally, MiG-23's and Apache attack helicopters would sweep in, using air to surface missiles to destroy bunkers and other strategic points.

However, this did not go according to plan. Because the Kalayas were tasked to fire on the beach defenses, no missiles were fired at the enemy Ka-50 "Black Shark" attack helicopters and MiG-29 "Fulcrum" fighters. With advanced systems, they easily swept through the Rebel Air Force. Of the 50 MiG-23s and 75 Apaches, only 23 MiG-23s and 40 Apaches were left. However, the remainder fought back. Along with capitalist hand held SAMs used by sailors on the ships, they knocked down plenty of the Loyalist planes.

However, the attack on the Rebel air force had stopped the beach defenses from being partly destroyed, and now the Rebels would have to land on the beaches with most of the defenses intact. It would be a bloody showdown.

More explosions marked the beginning of the Rebel landings. Loyalist mortars fired at the landing craft, and the Rebel Higgins boats charged through the mortar fire, intent on establishing a beach head. Loyalist MiG-29 "Fulcrum"s, intent on destroying the larger Valhalla class troop transports, headed out with torpedoes, while Rebel SAMs and MiG-23s engaged them.

Finally, the Higgins boats touched down, and troops poured out from them. .50 and .60 cals opened up on them, while mortars rained down from above. The first wave had been almost destroyed, yet the few left radioed in co-ordinates of specific command bunkers to the offshore battleships. Additionally, they cut through the barbed wire and had set up a few mortars in crevices caused by mortar fire. The Loyalist defenses would hold, but no more reinforcements could be allowed on the beach.
