Tagged for now.

Let's start off then with the general operational requirements you have for the new destroyer and what roles your navy wants it to fulfill.

I'm lokking to replace my Billings class guided missiles destroyers (which are just upgraded Arleight Burkes) with something bigger, better armed, and more survivable.

I'm looking for a multirole ship but the primary mission is area air defense, hench the AEGIS and SM-3 missiles, but it will also carry AShMs, Tomahawks, ASROCs, 127mm guns (2), and torpedoes.

When it's all said and done this ship will likely outgun even the RL Ticonderoga class and should be able to hold its own against NS caliber threats.

As I am an island nation in the middle of a strategic waterway, I am interested in upgrading what is essentially a Coast Guard. I am a small nation on a budget but my treaty obligations call for me to control this waterway.

My plan is to acquire 3 Ticonderoga class missile cruisers and 12 destroyers which will allow me to have the fleet ready on a rotating basis with 1 cruiser and 4 destroyers at sea all the time.

The destroyer is key to this strategy (and any navy's strategy IMHO). I need a flexible destroyer that can perform adequately in the AAW, ASW and surface warfare roles both individually or as a group.

I am thinking about a destroyer that fits (or comes close) the following specs:

between 5500-8500 tons
make 30 knots
handle heavy seas
integrated sensor and combat systems
Surface to surface missile capable [like harpoon]
Surface to air capable [like Standard]
ASROC
hanger for 2 helios
2 X ASW Helio
6" Rapid Cycle Main Battery
Diesel power plant
Ships Compliment 80-120 men
Operational radius: 4000 nm
UnRep capable
Can stay on station for at least 6 weeks

Anyhow- that's what I'm thinking but my budget will probably force me to settle for some old world war II Fletcher class antiques. ;)

See this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=531018&highlight=Shaw+class) for my Shaw class destroyer, it fills most of your requirements at a reasonable cost. I also have the Billings class guided missile destroyer and Resolute class guided missile frigate, both equipped with AEGIS. Send me a telegram me if you want more info on them.
