The House of Parliament
The nation was waiting. Only once in the history of Kampfers had a special session of parliament been called. In fact, very few people outside of Kampfers knew that the parliament actually existed. Fuhrer Richtoff held near complete power in Kampfers, but to maintain some form of democracy the democratically elected parliament retained some rights. This silenced a few critics, as well as making the people happy. But one of the powers that the parliament held was the ability for the nation to fully mobilize. And this was why they were here now.
Lord of the parliament George Matthews opened the session. "May our leader be guided by the truth and move to assist the true and honorable whenever such help is required. This has been a favorite blessing of the Kampferians upon our Fuhrer for many years now. Now, Richtoff wishes to do exactly this. As such, it has come before us. Do we authorize this full mobilization of Kampferian forces, or do we fall back to our love of peace. Ladies and Gentlemen of the parliament, that is for you to decide." As was custom in Kampferian politics, the Lord of the Parliament expressed no feeling in his introduction of the topic. He did not even get to vote until all other votes were cast, as it was believed that he had so much influence that nearly the entire parliament would vote in his direction if given the chance. Thus, the issue went to the commons for discussion.
George von Steinmetz, the parliament’s minority leader, was the first diplomat officially granted the floor. "For a long time, Kampfers has been a peace loving nation. Lately, however, we have seen this begin to drift away. From the deployment of our naval forces in FreeAngola to enforce a blockade, to the full invasion of United Fundamentalism. And now we are asked to grant a full mobilization order. When will this end? We must stop it now before it grows out of hand! What happens if our army falls? When our once proud nation lies in ruin from enemy bombers? No, we can not allow this to happen." He sat to a smattering of applause.
Parliament majority leader Karl Einstaat was next to speak. "You speak of ruin to come to Kampfers. Yet of this I can foresee none happening. While at war, Kampferian homelands would be protected by our allies in the New Prussian Empire. If not, then why have they allied themselves with us, and us with them? We enter this fight not alone. Also, what will the world think of us if we should back down? Are we to abandon our allies in the New Prussian Empire who are currently beginning their own mobilizations? No, my friends of the parliament. We must stand and fight alongside our brothers in the Questarian Commonwealth and the New Prussian Empire. The freekish troops have long oppressed smaller nations such as us. If they were to win this war, and become a new world order, what would prevent them and their allies in Gholgoth from attempting to wipe us from the earth before we had the chance to fight back? No my friends, we must fight and protect what liberties we have before it is too late." He sat to thunderous applause. It was quite obvious which side the parliament was leaning too.
Next to speak was minority representative Hinreich Malstrom. Considered the most influential speaker in the entire parliament, he was sure to win a few votes to the minority side. However, just as he had been granted the floor, the doors burst open. In walked Fuhrer Richtoff. "Ladies and gentlemen of parliament, I hate to tell you that we must end this. Time is of the essence. As both sides have had the chance to express their opinion, voting can commence immediately. From left to right now. In favor of or against full mobilization."
Voting began with two in favor, and then continued. When the vote reached the Lord of the parliament, George Matthews, the vote was 89 in favor, 65 against. Matthews began. "I see the vote has gone predictably. I will, for nought, cast my vote against. Nay. However, those in favor win by a vote of 89-66. Full mobilization may commence tommorow. Parliament is dismissed. Blessings of the state be with you."

Shakal Authorizes Full Mobilization
The Shakal Empire hereby authoirizes full mobilization of its forces for the war effort. In total some 200 extra divisions will be called up for service within the next 6 months.
Imperial Rally Grounds (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=66m7rmc)
The Empress left the stage after the speech. The people had been informed of her declaration of support for Questers. It was a popular decision. Over 98% of the population was all for it, of course there were those pesky few that disliked these things, but they were communists and dererved hangings anyways. As Kristina descended thew stairs her guards fel into step behind her. Beside her came her husband.
"That went well." Derrick said. His calm manner always gave a sense of repsect. He walked with his hands together behind his back. "Lets hope the actaul war is that easy."
"If it was you wouldnt exist would you?" She asked him mockingly.
"No, I suppose I wouldnt." Derrick replied smiling. This war would be the most difficult in many generations.

Kampfers Stadt, Kampfers
The Nationalism Rally
Fuhrer Richtoff stood on the government buildings steps before the masses of people. Thousands of people had packed the plaza to hear their trusted leader speak. Standing beside Richtoff was his trusted general and friend, Jorg Klischten. Klischten was in full military dress attire, as was Admiral James Christian who stood beside Klischten. Klischten's many medal's shone brilliantly in the sun. The naval commander had less medals, yet was no less decorated from the aftermath of wars. The people knew this, and respected both the men equally. As their positions had made them work together so often, Klischten and Christian had developed a mutual respect, if not friendship for each other. Flanking the leaders were soldiers of the Kampferian Army, also in full dress attire. The whole sight was quite a spectacle, and was being led up to as such. The whole event was being broadcasted on every Kampferian news channel, and many websites were also broadcasting the events live. Before the Fuhrer spoke a marching band cooked up the first verse of the patriotic national anthem, Hail Kampfers.
Hail, Kampfers, Home of the brave and true;
Hail, Kampfers, we're marching home to you;
Hail, Kampfers, we pledge allegiance to you;
And after all these many years, we swear our hearts too.
Fuhrer Richtoff quieted the crowd before beginning. "Ladies and Gentlemen of Kampfers. Today is a day in which the world trembles. The powerful nations of Gholgoth and NATO mobilize their forces to do battle with those in the Questarian Commonwealth. Long has the Commonwealth kept good standings with the New Prussian Empire. Shall we abandon them now, in their time of need? A massive NO! is heard from the crowd. Fuhrer Richtoff is so suprised from the almost united response that he steps back from the podium for a second and sips his water inconspicuously. "That's right! We will never abandon those who have proven loyal to us in the past! We will defend those who are just, true and honorable!"
At this point in his speech, Richtoff's tone began to change a bit. "However, this action is not taken without some sacrifices. Kampfers must begin a full mobilization immediately. The parliament has given me their blessing while entrusting me with this enormus right. But with this right comes responsibility. Mothers and Fathers, I pledge that your sons and daughters will not die in vain. Sons and Daughters, I pledge to you that you will have committed you lives to the most honorable cause that has ever confronted you. However, I will not institute a draft. Besides the Kampferian citizens already enlisted and those who are reserves, no one will be forced to aid our cause."
Richtoff's voice, ever charismatic, becomes loud and strong once again. "But you, citizens may be the difference in who wins this war. If you enlist, the tide of the battle may turn from the oppressive forces of Gholgoth and NATO to the honorable forces of the Questarian Commonwealth and the Soveriegn League. You hold the key. Every Kampferian who enlists will be recognized as an uptanding citizen. Can we let this menace go unchecked? Once again, an overwhelming NO! tears through the crowd. Will you fight for Kampfers and help your glorious fatherland aid those who are honorable? This time a wave of YES! sweeps the crowd. Richtoff is delighted by the responses, and it shows in his actions. As the crowd gets louder and louder, his gestures become more and more wild, as do his facial expressions. However, the crowd loves it. Will you defend freedom and justice in this world! Once again, YES! is roared back at Richtoff. Then fight for Kampfers as we attempt to repel this growing evil!" Richtoff waves, then bows, to thunderous applause. The crowd evidently loved him as always. It was these antics that won him the job, and it was these same actions that would likely keep him in it until death.
After the Fuher finished speaking, General Klischten stepped up to the microphone. "Kampferians, let us hear it one more time for your leader and mine, Fuhrer Richtoff! He pauses as applause once again rips through the crowd. The Fuhrer was right. Now more than ever, your fatherland needs your aid. We have stations set up all along the street as you exit. If you wish, please enlist in the military branch of your choosing. You may say that you wish not to fight, and yet you carry crucial skills as a doctor or engineer. Well then, enlist as such. An army can never have too many of them. Above all, I plead you, aid your fatherland as it moves to help those who are defenders of the soveriegn and true!" Applause roars across the crowd for the last time as Klischten steps down.
At the recruiting stations, the recruiters were being swarmed. Doctors, teachers, city bums and country bumpkins, they all wanted to aid their homeland. And with the exception of an entery physical, none would be turned away. The total number of the Kampferian armed forces was expected to swell to become over two times larger than it was currently at roughly five million men and women, both active and reserves. However, less than half of the new additions were truely fit for military life, and many of the less competent would be assigned to defend the homeland, still an honorable task in Kampfers, while the others went off to fight. Despite all the peace sentiments that were put forth by the parliament the previous night, the public had fallen head over heels in love with the new war. A quick online poll after Richtoff's speech showed that over 98.2% of the nation was for the war. Across the nation, as well as in the capital, people were flooding recruitng chapters. It was all going well for the Kampferian Fuhrer.
Orielle, Ezaltia
It was an unseasonably warm summer in southern Ezaltia. Of course, in Nova Scandinavia, 'unseasonably warm' meant the mid-80s, but the Houses of Parliament did not have any air-conditioning. For shame, thought Prime Minister Renee Valencia, sitting to the right of the central podium. At least she was only wearing a light pantsuit and blouse, in contrast to the Lords dressed in the formal robes and long curly wigs. The only sound was the soft rustle of fans as the Lords desperately tried to cool themselves off, and occasional whispering as one bid his intern to fetch him or her a cold soft drink. A fly buzzed loudly in front of Valencia, landing on the dark laquered mohogany armrest.
Suddenly, the massive main doors opened and several Royal Guards, garbed in full dress uniform, including swords and Model 1898 Lee-Enfields, marched in, boots clacking loudly on the wood floors. Everybody present stood and began to applaud as Queen Victoria IV entered the chamber. Valencia stood and went behind the podium, adjusting the microphone slightly and then saying regally, "Her Imperial Majesty, Lady of Ezaltia, Sultana of Algeria, Empress of Brazil, Queen Victoria IV!"
The applause intensified as the venerable old queen smiled at the prime minister and walked up to the podium. A guard quickly brought over a box for Victoria to stand on. At 94 years of age, she was quite frail and rather short. Television cameras on the balconies zoomed in on her face as reporters on the wings readied their notepads. The queen shuffled her notes and began.
"People of Ezaltia! I stand before you as a humble leader of peacetime. However, the United Kingdom shall again be thrown into the fires of war. The barbarian hordes of Automagfreek have begun to rouse once again, upsetting the delicate balance of peace in this world. Its puppets have begun to flock to its call for mobilization. The drums of war sound once again.
"Only the Crown Imperium of Questers and her courageous allies answer the call to arms against Automagfreek. The United Kingdom of Ezaltia shall stand side-by-side with Questers, to fight and die to defend freedom and justice in this world.
"It is with sad regret that I must call this great peaceful people to war. But we shall prevail, as we did over Naasha, as we did over Iragia, as we did over Hataria. The United Kingdom shall never be fearful of loss ever again!"
OOC:Yeah, it's a crappy speech. But it's late, and I'm tired.
Imperial Summer Palace, Kafita
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l255/rtpayton17/Peterhof.jpg
The typical tranquility and isolation found at the summer palace was interrupted by the hundreds of reporters now crowding the front lawn as Emperor Nadov III was scheduled to give a national speech today regarding the growing conflict with Questers commonwealth and the NATO forces.
The crowd cheered as Emperor Nadov made his way down the stairs to the podium set before him, behind him stood two senior Imperial army generals all three men wearing their best dressed uniforms medals glistening in the morning sun. Nadov cleared his throat and then began to speak his commanding voice captivating the entire nation.
"Everyday in life we make decisions, some more important than others, and every once in awhile there comes a time when you make decisions that will be life altering. Today is the day that we as a people must make one of those decisions.
We have all heard the tales of genocide carried out by the Freekish troops..just a few hundred miles from our own coast on our Londinium allies, Those same barbarians again seek to conquer, destroy, and kill all that represents freedom and what is right in our world today.
No longer shall we sit idle whilst these blood crazed monsters roam freely, No longer shall we watch as they subjugate and annihilate one group of people after another. No longer...Today is a time for change...Today we stand, we stand together as one and push back the demon back into the fiery depths of hell from witch it sprang forth. No other time in history has so much been at stake than what is at stake now.
The times ahead will be hard, sometimes it may seem unbearable but we shall prevail, together we shall prevail..for we shall answer the call for freedom in the face of tyranny, the call for liberty in the face of oppression..fear not as our forces along with the other great forces of the New Prussian Empire and our Questerian allies shall not be defeated we shall have victory..and vanquish this most despicable foe..For we fight for what is right and good shall always conquer that which is evil."
The large crowd let out a massive roar of cheering and applause..in cities throughout the empire crowds roared, parades were held as thousands answered the call, enlistment in the Imperial Armed forces had exploded by more than 500%

Outskirts of Kampfers Stadt, Kampfers
Kampferian Joint Millitary Base and Control
Enrollment at the Joint Military Base had swelled since Richtoff had given his speech. It had come to the point where there was no longer enough room to house its occupants, so the professional soldiers who were simply awaiting deployment had been moved into hotels on the outskirts of the city. Every day they would report in for refresher training, but it was easy for the seasoned veterans.
For the new recruits, life in the military was proving more difficult than expected. The entire military now claimed fifteen million men and women, with almost ten million having no military experience. As such, nearly five million of the ten million new recruits would be staying home to gaurd the homeland while the other soldiers were away. In order to train all the new soldiers in time for the upcoming war, the Kampferian command had decided to juice up the basic training regimen.
Now more aptly described as "Training to March on Hell's Gates," basic training was a nightmare for many of those who had signed up for overseas glory. The entire nine week program had been condensed into five short weeks. One of these new recruits was Harald Wolfram. Hence follows a day in his shoes.
0500 hours. Wolfram is sound asleep along with his other 19 chamber* buddies. In busts Drill Sergeant Kasey Cullom. "ALRIGHT MEN, GET YOUR SORRY ASSES OUT OF BED!" Wolfram, a heavy sleeper, hardly stirs. "BOY, UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE AN EXTRA HOUR OF PT TONIGHT YOU BEST GET YOUR ASS OUTTA BED!" Cullom was screaming at the top of his lungs, and all the other privates were already scrambling into their gear. After his latest rant, Cullom kicked over Wolframs cot. Wolfram immediately woke up and began dressing. Cullom just looked at him and snorted. "Everyone outside in 5 minutes for PT."
4 minutes and 30 seconds later, everyone is outside. Cullom hands each f them a 40 pound pack of deadweight and takes of running. Wolfram, a runner in his high school years, easily keeps up. That was, for the first mile and a half. After that, Wolfram begn dropping back. Somewhere between mile two and three, Wolfram slowed down, hurled, and then sped back up. He didn't dare stop.
0630. The entire group finally returns from PT. Numerous times on the way back, Wolfram and the others are forced to stop and do push-ups. By the time te get back, Wolfram is exhausted, drenched with sweat, and the day is only beginning. He moves quickly to the water buckets. Unfortunately, Cullom spots him. "YOU WANT WHAT? WATER IS FOR THE WEAK! WATER MAKES YOU WEAK! WHERE WE'RE GOING, THERE WON'T BE NO WATER!" At this point, Wolfram is embaressed and just wants to get back in the line waiting to enter the mess hall. He starts to turn away, but this only angers the Drill Sergeant more. "YOU DARE WALK AWAY FROM ME? I'LL SHOW YOU, YOU INSOLENT BASTARD. GET ON THE GROUND AND GIVE ME 200 PUSH-UPS. AND DO 'EM RIGHT!" Wofram did as he was told. At 50, his muscles told him he needed to quit, but he ignored them. At 150, his muscles flat out died. He fell on his face. As if he didn't hurt bad enough already, Cullom was still standing over him. "IT'S ONE EXTRA PUSH-UP FOR EVERY DAMN SECOND YOU SPEND DOWN THERE, PRIVATE!" This was all the motivation Wolfram needed. He got up on adrenaline, and finished off his total of 204 push-ups.
0715. The group finishes breakfast. The privates have barely had anytime to recover, and are stiff and sore from PT. However, none are dumb enough to complain. The Drill Sergeant began a speech. "Normally, I don't do this until the fourth week of training. However, since we have to condense this down to a shorter time frame, ya'll are gettin to learn how to fire a gun today. Believe you me, this is not what I wanted. As such, if any one of you does something I don't like, I WILL KICK YOU OUT OF THE ARMY SO FAST YOU BREAK YOUR DAMN LEGS RUNNING HOME TO MOMMY! YOU HEAR ME? NOW LISTEN UP!" Cullom went on to explain how to fire a gun, but not only the proper way to hold a weapon, but also how to breathe and stand while firing, s they are equally important. He then issued KW-22's to the soldiers individually. One said something and was in turn ordered to leave the firing line. After the commence firing order was given, and they were told to stop, Cullom examined every mans score. He was suprised by how well Wolfram had done, but there was no way he would let that show through. "Private Wolfram! Step foward!" Wolfram did as ordered. "Private, that was a piiful showing on the field today. Next time I expect double that score. You understand?" Wolfram nodded, knowing it was best not to protest, even if he had gotten high marks. Cullom knew in his heart that Wolfram would turn out a special one. He just needed a little pushing...
1200. Lunch in the mess hall. One of Wolfram's chamber mates spills some of his food upon his shirt. Cullom comes over to inspect him. "IS THAT A STAIN ON YOUR SHIRT? PRIVATE, YOU BETTER HAVE THAT GONE BY THE TIME I COUNT TO TEN OR YOUR GOIG ON KP TONIGHT!" The private can do nothing, and gets singled out. Wolfram feels sorry for him, but know those feelings have no place in the army. He begins to create a wall between the emotional side of his brain and the logical side. He is being hardened mentally, even though he doesn't realize it, so that when a man falls in battle, he does not relinquish his duties and run.
1300. PT again. They are ordered to carry 60 pound packs over a two mile distance. Wolfram regurgitates all his freshly eaten lunch, but as he runs he can feel his body hardening into a rock. Instead of pushups, this time they stop periodically for sit-ups. When Wolfram throws up, Cullom harrasses him. However, Wolfram ignores the taunts and keeps running. Others have the same issu, and Wolfram slows to encourage them to keep running. He even helps up one private who falls down.
1430. Back from PT, but the fun doesn't stop. It's off to the obstacle course for Wolfram and the other privates. As time goes on, Wolfram's development is more noticeable. He is the first one to the end, but does not leave, as he stays and encourages all the privates until the last one is done. It is obvious that the other privates are beginning to look up to him as a leader.
1800. Dinner. One of Wolfram's chamber mates and another new recruit begin to tussel. Wolfram steps in between them and tells them that if they have differences, then it is time for a competiotion, not a fight. Whoever kills more people in the upcoming war would win. Wolfram began to show how you could use emotions to drive a war, and began to start using that to his advantage.
1900. Final PT. This time it is forty pound packs for three miles of rolling hills. It takes the entire group roughly one hour to finish up. Wolfram is able to keep his meal down this time, much to his suprise. No breaks are taken, which is actually harder on Wolfram as he has no time to stop and catch his breath.
2000. Pugil Stick training. Wolfram easily defeats those who he fights, and his physical ability is evident. Cullom picks him out, but does not mention to him that he will be the one promoted to lead them into battle. A promotion for Wolfram will follow after graduation from the quickened basic training.
2130. Pugil Stick training is over. Wolfram and his counterparts have taken a beating this day, one of the worst a man can take. They are dismissed back to their chamber, with the thought in their minds that the next day will be just as hard... And the next... And the next... And that was how Wolfram fell asleep that night.
OOC Notes: * - A chamber is a room in Kampferian barracks.
Also, as I have never been to basic, this is my pathetic attempt at what it would be like in my nation. It pretty much chronicles the one private growing up into what should be a great soldier one day. I'm gonna need a replacement general for Klischten someday... Sorry I got lazy at the end. I will edit in more details later...
