North Mack

Commodore Jacob Perry gazed out the bridge windows, into the depths of space. The stars were so much more clear, out of the atmosphere. They seemed to fill the entire stretch of windows... almost mezmerizing...
"Sir, we have reached Jump Point."
Perry turned, broken from his trance by Captain Marshalll, shift officer for the ISS Contact. His sentence meant they had traveled far enough from the gravity well of Heimatland -the North Mack capital planet- and could engage the shift drive.
Ever since the Empire had received that extra-solar message, they had been preparing for this moment. The moment of (hopefully) first contact with other, intelligent races across the galaxy.
Perry checked his tactical computer, noting the positions of his two Escort Cruisers. Although dwarfed by the massive SuperDreadnaught, the ISS Stalin and the ISS Lao-Tsing carried between them enough fighters to make sure that if the Contact went down, if would go down swinging. The Contact herself carried three brigades of Soldiers, should a boarding or landing become nescessary.
"Sir?" Captain Marshall asked. "Your orders?"
Perry turned. "Sorry, I must have been distracted." Perry looked over the bridge one last time. "Weapons and Communications?"
"Weapons online." Captain Kim Stevenson replied.
"Communications online." Captain Murdoc Beith answered.
Perry turned back to Marshall. "Well then, make the jump."
Marshall turned back to his station. "Shift Drive engaging in three... two... one... activ..........................................................................ating."
The word became stretched and warped as the Contact defied the laws of physics and punched a hole in the fabric of reality. A white flash lit the ship, then everything was normal again, the ISS Contact, and its escort, safley in their new location, two-hundred and thirteen light years away from their homeland.
Perry signed. Nothing had gone wrong. He turned to Beith. "Begin searching for the location of that signal..." He smiled. "Let's find us some aliens!"
OoC: For those of you who remember me (although I doubt anyone will) this is actually a re-introduction, as I got deleted for inactivity for a while. ignore any previous encounters and stuff like that.
