Across the Cluster a transmission was broadcast. [I]The Cluster compact is no more, the Territories of the Miehmish control zone as well as half the territory within the cluster of the Balroggan Empire is being seded to Chronosian Imperium. The Fedral traitors territory is forfeit, and now belongs to the Prefecture of Tannelorn. The Tigerlanian Cluster Territories are now under the enlightened rule of the Prefecture. Any attempts to resist our rightful presence shall be met with extreme force. We enter a new age of prosperity for the entire Galactic Empire.

Vice president bucannon Read the message and growled his fist hitting the oak like table in the oval office, he looked up to general caravel who was standing in front of him wearing green army fatigues, his eyes looked in to the middle aged vice presidents face as it went glum. Bucannon started to speak again standing up and looking out side to the beautiful sky filled with puffy white clouds, the sun glimering on the massive capital city filled with glimering spires of economic w this, and to drive back the devils and dogs of war from our cluster."--- he paused then started to speak again.

"I shall now quote for a historical document made more than two thousand years ago, by our ancestors against a similar imperialist dogs.

GNN reported the results from the speech about half an hour later, on every news channel in the union, and to every station in the galaxy. 65% of the congress and senate voted for war and Independence and to institute the draft, the 8th fleet had rushed in to position starting to hyper warp out towards the cluster, the masses of grey ships shimmering in the light as they turned in top blue orbs rushing out in to the darkness of space.

Every fleet in the union was now mobilized, troops were mobilized, people we're lining up in the crowded busy city of New Union to get in to the next basic training time slot. total war.. it was and it shall be..

The UCS Gettysburg a ranger class ship floated gently in to a large formation of federal ships behind the planet, other ships also hid behind other worlds and near the sun. they're bodies shimmered gently in the well lit area of space, they were hidden by the planet how ever from oncoming forces, The System had received continuous updates up until a month ago . Thousands of G.O.D disruptor satellites, and missile launchers dotted the system, as enemy forces got in, faster than light inhibitors as well as dimensional inhibitors. The federals we're going to make sure it was suicide for any one to assault the system, even rigging a nova bomb to be launched at the sun.

Alexi made another appearance looking out from the ranger class Gettysburg bridge, he grinned a little almost an arrogant grin, his black gloved hands pressed firmly against his sides as he looked out, the bridge glimering with chrome silver and white marble like surfaces, the soft blueish light peering down and reflecting off of cups. it was a waiting game... the planet was already being evacuated, military forces we're deployed and waiting, squadrons of SF-22's and ECM-SWACS ships deployed.

It was a waiting game now.. a waiting game.

The Binirian Empire recived the signal from its ally and began to rally it forces. The Binairan fleet began to mobilize against the traitors. It gathered from the four corners of the empire until it was gathered in formation in the reach System. From there, like every other operation it would begin. They would leave no man, woman or child alive to surrender. All of the traitors would pay. In orbit around reach the fleet to be sent was gathering around the Hellfire. It is commanded by Admiral James Johnson. He stood on the bridge of his flagship. "How long until we are ready to depart?" He said quietly anticipating what was to come. "Soon milord. Soon."" His second in command David Rikon. "What are we waiting for?" he asked. The new attack craft to be loaded onto the ships." Captian Rikon responded. "Good. They will sevre well for ground support against the Traitors." "The last have been loaded." The admiral thought for a moment. " Load the Imperial Guard units onto the the troop transports and then leave them at a postion where they can be protected so once orbit is secured, we can take it with our full force." Captian Rikon walked over to the main holographic display and said," We shall crush them into a fine dust. They will never again rise in anger."

When President Mainzer saw the news on the TV he called all of the Edward City military dome to decide what to do in this situation. After many hours of speaking and debating, the military council and the President took a decision and later, on the world-wide news channel, WNC, President Mainzer announced that:

"Today, the Galactic Empire has decided to reduce the Fedral Union to a fraction of it's size by invading and ocupying it. The government of the United States of Edward City condemns this military action and asks the Galactic Empire to abandon it's will of invading The Fedral Union. For precaution, I have ordered all ships of the UNSC that are in the nearby area to fix a course to all TFU planets to protect them from any agression."

Just after that, the Secretary-General of the UNSC and also President of the USEC, Albert Mainzer, sent this message to all UNSC forces:

OOC Important note. The battle is literally starting with the Tannelornian Declaration. This means all reinforcing ships and troops will still have to activate, rally and move to the Cluster. This could take a day or two for allies. The only reason the Prefecture was able to act in so short of time was immediate notice and the small size of the Cluster. That and 75% of its Spacy was ready for action at a moments notice.

The war has literally just begun with a blitzkrieg. I sent my ships out as the announcement was made. Lets use this thread for official responses from governments right now. Then I or TFU will make the attack thread, though its more appropriate for me to as I launched it. :p

Just minutes earlier the Divine Celestial Federation government offices recieved a pair of messages. One from the Prefecture, detailing The Fedral Unions involvemnt in a plot against the Emperor of the Galactic Empire, Darth Vader. The other was from the Fedral Union itself. Once again calling on all allies to assist it against rightful Tannelornian forces. An emergency session of the council was called, politicians, lords and scientists from all over the Federation answered the call, be it with their physical presence or through aethernet connections.

A few minutes of debating followed reports that the Prefectures forces had entered the Fedral Throne world of the Cluster, as well as forces entering Tigerlan space. Full Federal support would be thrown behind the attack on the Fedral holdings within the Cluster..however the annexation of Tigerlan was still, and would still be debated. Within a few minutes it had been clear that reinforcements would be sent to aid the attack against the Fedrals.

The Charybdis campaign would be all but called off. Most of the forces inside of Charybdis were to be immediately recalled...as were the forces attacking the planet of Mythrandir. The debate became more furious now, the Prefecture and Divine Kingdom representatives railed against the loss of two great prizes. They were demanding Tigerlan territory in recompensation for the lives already lost fighting for those systems. The fighting in Mythrandir had been especially hard fought to this point, the enemy there were holding with a great tenacity, despite the horrendous damage they were taking.

The Celestial Republic was to hold most of its forces in reserve, in case the war exited the Pocket and expanded. Their forces were also going through a period of refit, and would not be available in their entirety until the end of the current year. They would leave it to the discretion of the DCEF commander, Star Lord Abbarakh of the Fafnir to join the war or not. They were resistant to the idea of new ships at the moment, it was a running joke amongst the DCN that the expeditionary forces just wanted one more good war with their old Einhanders before they were put out to pasture.

The Grahfsberg representatives flatly refused to aid in any offensive operations against not only Tigerlan, but the Fedrals. They would not take a part in the dissection of that nation as they called it, nor in the annexation of Tigerlanian cluster holdings. They had opposed the Mythrandir campaign from the start, and only grudgingly sent a force of one hundred drone ships.

These forces would be recalled, instead they would protect the Celestial Republic, allowing the forces of the Tannelornian Federation to send five of the eight fleets of the Greater Tannelornian Federal Army to assist the Prefecture and its fleets. One fleet would remain with the Grahfsberg's to assist in the defense of the Celestial Republic as the Divine Celestial Navy finished its latest refit, started with the design and construction of the Skoffnung prototype Divine Celestial Battleship. Within days, almost six hundred Tannelornian warships would be in the Weissman Pocket, as the Federation had named it, after the Tannelornian commander who lead the first mission's to claim territory within it.

The war would remain localised within the Pocket for as long as it could. It would be up to the treasonous Fedrals and their allies to expand the campaign.

Within five minutes of the start of the battle, the official Federation response was sent.

The Divine Celestial Federation, as an ally of the Galactic Empire, with member states within the Galactic empire, now declares war on the state of the Fedral union.
The Garbage Men

The main head-quarters of The Garbage Men picked up the messages from both The Federel Union as well as other forces within the GE. A meeting of the Chief Officers of TGM met in their headquarters to thrash out what to do...

And with commercial operations happening both within the cluster and in GE nations all around the both official and unofficial operations of The Garbage Men were in well primed positions to recieve all sorts of information.

"Being a member of the GE is a goldmine! We cannot let this stop!"

"But what about TFU as well, they have been good to us and it's bad business sense to just discard a relationship like that. Who knows what we could get out of them."

The tooing and froing went forth until one of the least important officers, the Human Resource Officer, a position that had just been renamed and looked after the affairs of all TGM Personnel. An official TGM announcement was made to all involved...

The diplomatic communique was shunted immediately from the general stream of data directly into the Comander's station. After reading it he directly bypassed Operations and sent it to the homeworld, Epsilon Prime.

President R.L. XXXXXVII, whose family had headed the Dominion since its founding, was sitting in his office atop the Freedom Spire, the tallest building in the Capitol. As he looked out the window, he took in the commanding view of Sovereign City with its towering spires and skyscrapers tapering off into smaller residential and industrial districts. The whole city was a combination of gleaming white and industrial uniform gray smattered with parks and small trees on ground level. Beyond that was one of the many vast grasslands between cities where fresh food was grown.
He took a deep breath and prepared to relax when his console chimed. Turning, he reviewed the message and his eyes widened ever so slightly. He immediately drafted a response and sent it via standard Dominion encryption.

To our esteemed allies of the Fedral Union,
We of the Dominion of Ruthless Slaughter will gladly render assistance as needed. It will, however, be somewhat limited. We are currently in a state of war with the Shivans and our resources are mostly devoted to securing our own star systems. We'll help as best we can. A vessel will be en route shortly. ETA will be two hours pending an open jump corridor.

With the message of impending war coming so close to the Hobbeebian Milky-way galaxy holdings it was with the interests of the Hobbeebian Explorationary forces to ensure no harm comes to the holdings. As such a heavy battle group was sent to ensure that this was done.

As they arrived A message was sent:

This is General Voricun, of the Hobbeebian Explorationary Forces, General of the Hobbeebian Grand Imperial military. This battle group was sent in the interests of preserving peace among the Hobbeebian holding within this galaxy, as well as this cluster. We are here to also say we have come to the aid of TFU as prescribed by our pact made years ago. TFU vessels are always welcome within our fleet for repairs and rearming.

As General Voricun finished he ordered his fleet into a defensive formation as to protect the fleet.

For now they sit and wait for the opposing forces.

but the wait would be cut short as news of Balroggian forces would reported to be possibly en route. Hobbeebian had a honor thread for the nation of Balrogga and has sworn never to enter combat against them or her allies. Plus as reports of TFU hostilities against other Explorationary ships pushed the General to rethink his message

The General quickly changed his original message:

As word of possible Balroggian involvment as well as her allies the Hobbeebian Explorationary forces will not aid TFU. As originally told before TFU ship will not be awarded repair and rearming service. Bolrogga has our full support.

The Fallen Empire of Balrogga does not forget their obligations. We will stand by our old friends and fellow Galactic Empire members.

If you wish assistance, you have but to call for it and we will be there to destroy any who threatens to invade The Cluster. Since we are Cluster Police and you are holding our territory as a protectorate it is our duty to utterly destroy those who would come from Outside to use violence to lay claim to any of their territories.

The Cluster has always been meant to be completely internalized and external threats will not be tolerated. We will use any and every power we have to enslave or obliterate those who seek to steal the Cluster away.

Their illegal invasion of Waterhelper marked their defiance of the Cluster Rules and also marked the beginning of the End of the Federals in the Cluster. The Illegal violence-ridden attempt at takeover of the Cluster by The Federal Union will finally be dealt with in a like manner, as will any allies they drag to their deaths.

The Galactic Empire is aware of The Fedral Unions increased attempts at Inter Galactic chaos and uncompromising warfare. We are most distressed at the seemingly impeteous elements of the Galactic Community, which seem to be fool hardy and all too willing to plunge into a conflict in which there can only be one victor.

The Federal Union yesterday, attempted to incite an act of treason against her allied states, her protectors and superiors, nullifying all former promises, treaties and oaths made by the Unionists, which the immortal Galactic Emperor took at face value.

The Fedral Unions allies, within this council have all abandoned this rogue state, rejecting his case for war, and instead opting to choose diplomatic relations with the Galactic Empire.

We are willing to make this statement in regard to the Unions blatant attempts at avoiding judgement and justice.

Those who aid The Fedral Union, will be hunted down and destroyed to the fullest potency of our ability. The Fedral Union will be issued a term of surrender of which if it is not accepted, her territories, military, and foreign policy will become forfeit, including the life of a one Robert Bastidas, former president of The Fedral Union.

The Galactic Empire is not in the business of inciting conflict, and will point out the Fedral Unions notorious reputation in regard to political loyalties.

The news of the rebellion from the Federal Union made it to Los Angeles. Before long, debate in the top echelons of the Joint Revolutionary Command and Control Center in San Diego (OOC: Our Pentagon of sorts) and the civil government itself began, as the words of Vice President Bucannon made it onto the HoloNet. Some of the jingoists in the government were eager to support the Federals. The Chuck Norris was a blow which, despite suppression by the Administration, was a hit to the government's credibility. Others pointed out their bellicose record, knowing how the Federals had proven themselves capable of threatening others in the past and even the GFFA, of which the Dornalians were a large supporter.

The result was that the MacIntyre Administration officially declared neutrality in the "War for Federal Independence" as the pundits were calling it, or at least the neutral ones were. The more slanted ones dubbed it "Bucannon's War" or "The War of the Duckspeakers." No official support was forthcoming, though refugees were welcome.

Still, some felt something had to be done--at least unofficially. And before they knew it, that something came up in the form of a force of, well, to use the old term, filibusterers. Rogue military adventurers, unaffiliated with the government at large. Who knows? Maybe they would work as mercenaries?

Somewhere in Ft. Casimir Pulaski, New Territories SAR

Captain Graham, formerly of New Wuhan, had since been a wandering soul of sorts, seeking redemption for his failure to prevent the annihilation of his world. So far, the only redemption he found was in a bottle of Canadian Club and a testimony before an Allanean tribunal about New Wuhan. Still, he felt empty. And, it was only gnawing at him.

So, it was no surprise when he heard about the Federal Rebellion, he saw it as a second chance to prove himself as a new man. After all, as a member of Tiger Force, a unit of Privateers commissioned by the New Dornalians to defend against other pirates, he was assigned weapons, ships, and was able to procure some unorthodox items as well, mainly Kroot mercenaries, Hjarran Dare Death Squads, etc.

He drank to the declaration, and then picked up the phone in his grimy apartment. He then dialed the number for a man named Benitez. Admiral Joseph Benitez. He was the local liason for the Tiger Force units in the area.

He said to Benitez, "Admiral. It's me, Captain Cracker."

Benitez replied, "Yes, Captain. What is it?"

Graham sat down and told him in his signature voice, "You know that war in the Federal Union?"

Benitez replied, "Sorry Captain. I am not authorized to let you go there. if you do, you will violate the Filibustering Act, and we will throw you in the Stockade."

Graham then said, "Fuck off. I quit." He then simply hung up, and then called the Coredian Embassy in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. He had a plan, one that would cause him to possibly be prosecuted by his own government. But he didn't care.

As it turned out, the good Captain's resignation was already being filed....and his statements reported to the military police so he could be surveyed at a later date. Not that it mattered, at least to Graham.

She had a thought and picked up the holophone.

Admiral Pellaeon looked over the latest fleet reports. Despite the loss of a good part of the Third Fleet, the fleet numbers are increasing according to schedule and the new flagship is well under construction. Soon, the shining new ships will be bloodied. But not just yet.

Then he had a call come to him and spoke for a few minutes.

It is with Grate... reluctance that our colony must surrender, under orders from President bucannon, the Colony of New Tyrian Is now declared a neutral ground, it will not be involved in fighting between federal forces or any one else., and with discussion to the governor general, the rest of the cluster will declare its neutrality as well, and we will now hand over official control to the gouldarins of all federal territory and defense platforms , the elements of the third and fourth fleets will be asked to leave.


The fleets floated in wait, for enemy ships when they got they're messages. fleet admiral braxton growled as he heard it slamming his fist on the leather like armrest of his chair, he leaned back and sighed "Alright" saying with a harsh voice "lets get out of there, send the forth fleet over to tigerlan holdings, we'll go to new London to prepare defenses, send a message to all allied forces."


to all allied forces of the federal union, our mustering ground shall now be the system of new london on the edge of federal space , enemies would surely have to go through that before hitting core systems, we need all that you can muster.

The fleet started hyper warping out, there glimering ominous figures changing in to orbs of blue energy as they flew in to the darkness of space, one fleet headed for tigerlan, the other headed for new London, mean while an extra 1500 hulls of ships that have been mothballed for such an emergency we're in the process of being activated, reserve crews, with training up to date, we're called upon to crew them. it would take a few hours for the fleet to get from the cluster to new London.

A massive 200 ship fleet flew from the darkness of space converting back to normal large and small ships alike, they're ominous bodies floating over rumbling towards the Tigerlanian Cluster capitals inner system , they're engines grumbled a bit as they shifted from the edge of the system pushing like lances of light in to the darkness , a message from the UCS Demeter was sent to the local goverment.

"This is the United Colonial alliance sixth fleet to all friendly forces in the area, we have come to assist you in this time of crisis please respond"

Across the length and breadth of Godulan territory, Kython Avatars simultaneously cocked their heads and said "Huh?!" The notice of Fedral Holdings in the Cluster being officially turned over to the Godulans was deemed sufficient to inspire a double-take.

The Legion interlink was awash with a frenzy of discussion as to the veracity of the unexpected announcement. The text was read, dissected, analyzed, checked for hidden messages, crumpled up and kicked around in a game of hackeysack, uncrumpled, converted into braille because they DAMN sure couldn't believe their eyes, copied in triplicate, distributed, lost, found, inadvertently encrypted into binary code, pointed at, mumbled over, laughed at, cried over, all until consensus was reached about thirty seconds after the initial receipt of the transfer notice.

The shit was legit.

But then, so were the disturbing trends that had come across the entire cluster. Tannelorn was trying really freaking hard at taking the whole place over.

Damned annoying. Little bastards just couldn't stop taking, could they.

What to do, what to do.

The Fedrals' Cluster Throne world was already under assault. The Godulan Sector of the Cluster was sparsely militarized, and little could be done against a bunch of REALLY uppity imperials. But perhaps there could be a little something dealt with. Already, Long Arm of the Law had begun mobilization processes, but it would not be ready in time to protect the throne world unless some form of stalling mechanism were put into place.

Time time time time time. Too much of it when you didn't need it, too little when you did.

There were a hundred Slaughterkings in all of the Godulan Cluster holdings. The number would have been greater if the Godulans had shown more than a consistent interest in researching the local wildlife of Cambria and Praxitel. Activating them was of little issue, as was getting them where they were needed. The Godulan ships were literally a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Fedral holdings, so zipping over required substantially less calculation time for the probability drives. It would be a matter of minutes at least for a few presently-activated ships to haul ass over and see if things could be rectified.

The four systems not yet under attack were reinforced first. Five ships popped within each and made directly for each system's planet with a purpose. They immediately started broadcasting confirmation of the power transfer, along with instructions to the local populace in preparation for whatever was about to happen.

The fifth system, the Cluster Throneworld, also recieved five new Slaughterkings, all moving towards the planet and broadcasting notice of the transfer of power, along with an additional hailing for the Tannelorni fleet.

Commodore Anna Marinev looked out across the command deck, hololithic displays surrounded her as she moved. She could see the tiny flairs in the distance signalling the retreat of the Fedral Forces. The Endymion's had left formation minutes ago, and now could not even be seen in the distance, even with her augmented vision.

She was monitoring their progress on one of the many displays surrounding her when Prefect Ibram Hallocir spoke. He was lounging in the "guest" throne, watching the whole display with a bemused detachment. "So they run, this was not expected, was it Commodore." His short blonde hair framed his face messily, his long cape and the rest of his perfectly white uniform was arranged rather sloppily.

The Commodore turned. Her hair was black, with only the slightest bit of grey at the temples. Her stern, angular features seemed to regard the Prefect with contempt. She hated the new breed of politicians but could see no other alternative. Democracy was sacred, its values must be upheld. Even if that meant having to put up with a spoiled brat on her bridge, barely fourty years of age, nearly three hundred years her junior.

The defenses did not even start firing as they advanced. Either the Fedrals were up to something, or the greater war had already started. "I would have expected the Fedrals to throw everything they have at us by now." Prefect Hallocir stated. "That is their standard operational procedure, however it is possible that after the events that transpired on mars, the Fedrals had taken the time to come up with new ideas for winning in unfavourable situations." she responded, watching the display screens. The entire crew of the ship was preparing to face an ambush. A few minutes more passed and none came. In that time the Fedral Union and the Divine Celestial Federation had apparently entered in to a state of war.

This would explain why the ships had beat such a hasty retreat. Then the lead ship, the Lindaleon recieved a transmission from the Fedrals. The Commodore read it and immediately scowled. "Prefect, it is not up to I to decide a matter such as this, but my expert opinion is this is illegal. We shall not accept terms." The Prefect looked at her for a moment, and at the document in front of him. Then he closed his eyes and layed back. He was in discussion now with the Prefect's council on what to do about this.

He spoke now. "open a comm' link to the Fedral governor on the colony." the replicant and Tannelornian crew members scrambled to do as their Prefect commanded. "We accept only your surrender, we do not accept your neutrality, an obvious ploy to provide a safe haven to the rest of your forces. We do not accept the ceding of these Territories to Godular either, this is a most unacceptable affront to us." he grinned.


Just then the lilting sing song voice of one of the replicant girls at the vox station interrupted the Prefect. "Message from the Godulan's, honoured Prefect, they wish to speak with you.
"Commodore, you have a world to seize." he replied.

She simply nodded. "Launch all mecha and send fifteen battalions down to the planet, center the attacks on military centers only. Ships, move in to position to support the takeover of power. Two battalions will proceed to the immediate place of power for the authority and take control of the situation. Tell them we accept their surrender and to stand down, they will be relieved of their weapons and duties and sent home." she paused for a moment looking back at the Prefect, he was watching her like a cat watching the canary.

"If we meet organised resistance, report back and engage in defensive actions until you receive orders to attack. All ships take up a position above the planet."

The vessels started to move, the HMAF's swarmed back over the planet itself and set themselves up in defensive vectors, long, ever changing orbits designed to minimize the enemies ability to make a first kill in a surprise attack.

The great Solaris battleships moved in to position with a stately grace, devoting maximum power to defensive systems. Ahead of them streamed their mecha compliments, escorting hundreds of heavy assault shuttles filled with Replicant soldiers and their officers.

The Prefect smiled at the Commodore. "Open a channel to the Godulans, if you please." she did as she was asked.

"Well, hello there, you wished to talk?"

Mareike Van Ingen, private contractor presently cooperating with Military Phalli Inc., the more-notorious-than-famous arms exporter (Who would forget the Abuse class missiles causing cancer in their operators?), pointed the roughly twentieth-century-assault-rifle sized (If vastly smoother looking) gun at a sizeable nearby rock, breathed in, and did nothing.

The gun itself, however, seemed to literally erupt as a bright flare connected it with a nearby rock (Weighting maybe a metric ton), whose first action upon being 'Connected' with the gun consisted of violently exploding, temperature gradients and extrema too much for it to keep its structural integrity, and liberally showering its surroundings with debris and shrapnel. And around the beam path, the air was expanding violently, molecules having been variously heated, ionised, or turned into a plasma.

Mareike grinned stupidly, and turned towards one of the TFU inspectors standing next to her. "MilPhal Medium CREW, Export Approved. Assault rifle equivalent. Spectrum covering everything from x-rays to radiowaves. Maximum power output one hundred megawatt, minimum pulselength one microsecond. The afterglow you saw isn't the pulse itself - it's molecules in the air excited by the photons the gun emitted."

She aimed the gun again, pretty much randomly, muzzle pointing at nothing in particular, and fired again. The beam propagated in a zigzag line, eventually vaporising a bird on the other end of the testing range.

"Built-in mirrorfielding to shoot around corners and the likes - can also double as a personal shield, albeit a localised one. No 'Bubble'-like protection.

"Exact output is variable, of course. Range is dependent on wavelength - as x-rays have an unfortunate tendency to interact with molecules in the atmosphere, range in the vacuum is greater than in an atmosphere. At higher wavelengths, it can double for electronic warfare - blind a HUD, fry electronics, cause a localised EMP -, should this be considered necessary.

"Powersource is induced annihilation. As long as you're using it within an atmosphere, it wont run out of power, ever, as there's mass all around it. Also serves as a radiation source, mind you - probability of detection when used is high. Not the stealthiest weapon. But then, you're supposed to be stealthy before firing it, not when firing it.

"Lifetime is approximately six hours at full power output - we're talking about roughly twenty-two thousand pulses. No automatic repair mechanism - it is an export model, after all -, but that should be more than sufficient. Power output can be dialed up, but doing so reduces the weapon's lifetime considerably, to a mere two or three seconds at max. power x 10. After that, reactor and storage have turned into a molten sludge of little utility. Besides, at this power levels, the weapon's wasteheat emission turns from 'Mhm, cozy!' into 'Holy shit my flesh, it's burning!', so it's generally not a good idea to do it unless you have to burn through a supertank with one shot.

"Control happens by way of datatransfer over nerves - it takes a bit more of training than simply squeezing a trigger, particularly when you're not used to it, but it increases reaction times considerably, and reduces potential points of mechanical failures. And yes, our circuitry is good enough to make this an advantage. Essentially, think to fire. The same goes for more advanced functions, such as the ones I just demonstrated.

"It's possible to use user security - limit access to the weapon to a number of genetic fingerprints and/ or EEG parameters. I.e. a squad. Prevents the enemy from using the guns, although there's obvious disadvantages associated with this, too.

"And now for our next model..."

The next gun was considerably bulkier, though overall about the same size as the Medium CREW. "MilPhal Medium Particle Projector, Export Approved."

Mareike changed her stance a little, no longer looking as light-footed as before, and took aim. "As always, aiming happens via direct mind/ machine interface as soon as you touch the gun. Well, the interface surface where there'd be a trigger in a more conventional weapon. This one is a bit more difficult to handle than the CREW because it does actually have significant recoil..."

And again, a bright flash propagates through the air at what is (Almost) the speed of light. This time the target doesn't explode as such, though - a good deal is vaporised, and the rest is violently thrown backwards. So is Mareike, in the other direction.

She gets up quickly enough, though. Probably didn't even give the inspectors a the opportunity for an upskirt, though she'd equally probably not have minded such.

"This weapon's somewhat better at penetrating armour, and is by its very nature impossible to mirror off. Power output is similar to the CREW. Has a tendency to irradiate a target, though, not entirely dissimilar to the effects of a neutron bomb - but it wears off after a few hours. Certainly less versatile than the CREW, but with its higher momentum 'Output' and penetrative characteristics a better 'Hard Kill' weapon."

Mareike hesitates for a moment, laying the (Heavy, and she's a somewhat petite woman) on the ground. "Handling similar to the CREW, too, same for lifetime and so on. Fires electron- or proton beams - which one is everyone's personal preference - or atoms, when in a vacuum. Firing ions, it'll thus also have disabling effects on microcircuitry, if used at low power settings. On high power settings, well, there wont be any more microcircuitry.

"As the ammunition can be sucked right out of the atmosphere, munition storage is, again, only of concern when you're fighting in a vacuum.

"Beam parameters can vary - high speed/ low mass beams for high energy, low speed/ high mass beams for high momentum. The former is generally preferable against infantry, the latter is an anti-armour configuration. It's worth noting that 'Low' speed still means .9something c, while 'high' mass is still measured in a handful of micrograms/ second. Likewise, beamspread is easily controlled - again, with a bit of training - to deal with masses of targets at close range, or to irradiate an entire building, get past lightsabers, or some such things.

"And now, for the heavy weapons..."

The presentation went on. Of course, ground-based weaponry wasn't the only thing MilPhal Inc. could supply - but while the Hypocrisy had some rather nifty toys for ground combat, its space-based assets were notably less impressive when compared to the general standard out there. Add certain, not strictly enforced but politely suggested export restrictions on high-end products and, well...

There wasn't too much of a point in supplying space-based weaponry to the Fedrals.

Still. Assorted overpowered infantry-scale weaponry, micromissiles as mines of some sort, sensordust and the likes could be supplied in fairly significant quantities over reasonably short timeframes. Likewise, some space-based weapons - directed energy mines with beam-ranges measured in millions of kilometres come to mind - could certainly find their way to the Fedrals.

Why? Well. For MilPhal Inc., itself happily seated in the not-yet-post-scarcity bits of he Hypocrisy, it was a business opportunity. They could do it, or they could not do it. One of these options would provide income. The other would not.

The decision was simple.

For the Minds who were watching and who'd eventually decided not to interfere in the matter, it was a bit more complex. The Fedrals certainly weren't liked - they'd cooperated with Chronosia in the past, they'd raised nigh-eternal shitstorms, thrown tantrums, caused crisis after crisis -, and there wasn't really any reason to help them.

The thing was, well... When the Fedrals were going to shoot the GE - an entity happily eliminating pre-industrial civilisations for shit and giggles, ruthlessly enslaving humans (Clones) and sapient machines alike, all in order to achive... Well... Nobody really knew why they did it. The point was, in any case...

Well, if there was an opportunity to hurt them without having to do the work by themselves, they wouldn't refuse it.

And so the opportunity was taken, and a stream of material was prepared to reach the Fedral's homeworld(s) - MilPhal Inc. wouldn't bother transporting its goods right into a warzone, but shipping it off to the Union proper wasn't exactly going to be a big problem while the war was still concentrated on its periphery.

Edit: Recoil of the particle projector is a drastic exaggeration. Wouldn't be enough to actually throw Mareike backwards - hell, it's less than what you get from a modern assault rifle on full auto.

But I like the image, so it stays. I'm sure there's another reason for it.

How it happened was not really important, but the point is that someone in Allanea contacted Military Phallii, Incorporated. The truth was that, somehow – and it doesn't really matter how – the Allaneans heard about the MilPhal products, and they were really – but really impressed. And so they asked for a rather large amount of the various weapons for testing purposes.

In Allanea, 'testing' usually means that members of DREAD retire to some firing range and shoot the different devices until they're bored with them. Which, in fact, was the case here.

After they got bored – and get bored they did, in a few days or so – they started filling out order forms for immense amounts of CREW guns – noting that they wanted the company to add as many rails, ports, and so forth as can be done without affecting ergonomics too adversely.

Further, and for reasons unfathomable to anybody, a variety of sample weapons from the MilPhal range were also ordered for 'an anonymous private collector', who of course paid up front.

The only major issue with this whole transfer of power issue was that in some cases it would be damned near impossible to reinforce the claim when there was an enormously large and similarly annoying force of the apocalypse bearing down on the aforementioned claim. Truth be told the Fedral announcement seemed a bit more than it was worth.

Oh well.

Time to drop the hammer.

The Tannelorni fleet was already on the move, so the message would have to be short and sweet. An audiovisual comm signal went back to the Prefecture flagship, revealing an unassuming man wearing an oddly mischievous grin.

"Hay guys. Not sure if you noticed, but the Fedrals decided to cough up their Cluster Holdings to us. We know you likely figure this is a ploy by them to gain extra time, but we really can't stop you from landing on the planet."

The four other Slaughterkings moved to the far side of the planet, keeping the Prefecture fleet on the far side, and darted down to the surface. Keeping to relatively unsettled portions of the countryside, they smacked into the ground like a strange form of crystalline water balloon, then seeped into the ground like some form of groundwater...

"We can make things oddly painful for you ON the planet tho. You see, we have already been to the other Fedral Holdings. You might have noticed what we just did? We have insinuated four slaughterkings into the surface and upper interior of this planet in such a manner that within a day or so we will be fully capable of initiating hostilities against your forces with sufficient capacity to initiate a full scale conflict. We have done this to the other four worlds as well, and in order for you to completely scrape us off of these planets, it will very literally require you to vaporize the crust and render each planet uninhabitable.

"Sorry guys. But we gotta enforce our claim somehow. Your fleet is too big, but if you land on any of our planets, we are prepared to nickle-and-dime you straight to hell."

The object was the cargo section of a Menelmacari Vingilot class freighter, one of a multitude of such objects those ships carried. This one had been retired from service with the Lossë-elen company about twenty years ago when it had developed a complex failure in its gravitic engines that meant that replacing it was easier than repairing it. They weren’t bad engines, and they were good enough for station keeping, but even elves weren’t perfect, and an oversight in its design caused one particular production series to develop a fault if it were used for transporting superdense materials.

There was no one on board this depot out beyond the Gates of Varl, but a number of automated drones served as night watchmen and maintenance operators, and they reported in every minute to a Venturers monitoring room on a dead planet.

The container wasn’t the only one, there were a good deal of others, linked to it. Nothing in them noticed the full-size transport that appeared, bearing the pointed-insignia of the Lossë-elen company, as they did, and attached to them, moving off.


The contents, when they were emptied out, were hefty containers, about a meter square, made out of a “biodegradable” plastic compound under a non-biodegradable plastic wrapping, in which were a bunch of cardboard boxes sealed with tape. High tech it wasn’t.

In each box was a multitude of equipment, none of it that good, but ruggedised, and almost impossible to mess up for any population with even a basic standard of literacy. Chief amongst these items was the “Guide to Emergency Civil Defence” by Major George Mainwaring, Michelle Dubois, William Hodges, Captain Arthur Wilson, Sergeant Jack Jones, and sundry others, and edited most recently by Field-Marshal Pauline Banks and Luinthelë nos Ancalimë, and a more situation-specific guide to forces known to be used by the Galactic Empire and similar agencies. In actuality, the second one was on a digital device (that also contained the former, which was also paper-hardcopy)

As well as this, there were rifles, lots of them. An almost unbelievable number of M-G pattern top-loading (a comparatively complex, sharpshooter's design) and Kantrael-short pattern (more basic) laser guns in fact. Many billions, each with enough reloads for a sizeable number of shots, and a pocket recharger unit that could be quickly adapted by anyone with technical aptitude for almost any electrical source, it could even charge a power pack from water, splitting the water and fusing the hydrogen. The rifles themselves were very simple, a power-slider on one side, a shot selector on the other that doubled as the ‘off switch’ for the automatic scope.

They also had respirator-gear, one-size-fits-all (literally) urban, winter and country uniforms with thermal-pattern-scattering properties, basic encrypted communications devices (with a big label ‘Use only in absolute emergencies’) hand-held radio-interceptors, grenades, thermal binoculars, three types of bayonet and combat knife (an essential, according to the original manual {“They don’t like it up ‘em” was a commonly applied phrase}) a supply of food bars akin to Scolopendran Y bars, though not quite as nutritious, guides and equipment for field preparation of food ranging from ‘places where tinned food is likely to be stored’ through to butchering and preparing animals, and even growing food, cleanliness gear, basic medical equipment, and so on…

There was in this equipment, three basic priorities.

Usability – Absolutely anyone of even sub-normal intelligence was intended to be able to become a resistance fighter, if not a good one, because good ones tended to be the ones who were alive, and there was never any guarantee of that, using the equipment in one box.
Durability – The equipment, with a few exceptions, could generally be relied upon not to break unless it was actually attacked.
Efficiency – It had to all work. Which it did. It wasn’t wonderful, nor even second rate…But it did work, and the guns would happily put down a stormtrooper through his armour on their low energy setting.

Happily, these three conspired to make for cheap and numerous gear, which was how the Venturers were able to ship one box to every Federation Citizen. Well, at least to the feds themselves. They might not distribute it well… but that was their concern. Then there was the matter of replacing the material from the stockpiles.

Of course, it had symbology that was widely used on it, where there was any, and the two C’tani editors used pseudonyms, and the delivery was very much in a round-about way. The designs of the lasguns were not in use by forces in territories the C'tan formally controlled (where many such weapons existed, but were considerably more compacy and somewhat better).

Tannelorn may or may not recognize that particular transfer, but the Godulans are willing to enforce by all methods at their disposal. Now enough ooc stuff. Let us return to things about to blow up.

Prefect Hallocir almost couldn't believe what he was hearing. The Godulans actually believed they had a claim to the world. "Well then Godulan's, I am afraid we have a problem, especially in the wording. As far as the document here states." he paused, pointing to a holo screen depicting exactly word for word the transmission from the Cluster holdings of the Fedral union. "They surrendered before declaring neutrality and ceding themselves to your wonderful nation. Now one cannot surrender, declare neutrality and cede themselves to another nation all at the same time, can they?" The Prefect shrugged his shoulders, turning he picked up a glass and started to drink from it.

He carefully placed it down then paused. After what seemed an eternity he began to speak again. "I thought not, this is very true. Therefore with the Fedral Clusters surrender to the Prefecture, this territory belongs to us. Anything they stated after the surrender, which was pretty much anything regarding your fabulous nation, is truly invalid, and not truly worth anything." The Prefect smiled.

"Please do get off our worlds, It would be an act of war if you prevented us from asserting our rightful rule with any sort of military action. Of course we would rather not resort to that, after all we are civilized people."
he breathed a long, rather fake sigh. "We would rather not have to resort to violence to solve a dispute which is clearly and totally in our favour, surely you can see this as clearly as I see Commodore Marinev's rather shapely ass before me." he grinned and sat back, awaiting the Godulan response.

The first assault ships broke the atmosphere, heading towards the location of military bases and minor outposts, preceding the larger wave of assault craft and Faust's which would land inside of the Fedral cities. Messages were being broadcast towards them, accepting their surrender and telling them to stand down from their weapons and come out in to the open for processing.

The message was set on a continuous loops as the Horizon transports broke through the cloud cover, streaking through the skies toward their objectives, to secure this world properly and organize a proper transfer of power. After all a screaming horde of relief workers, civil servants and bureaucrats would soon descend upon the world.

The individual in the video recording smirked. "If you will kindly note, prefect, there was no separation between the surrender announcement and that of the transfer announcement. They were all very much within the same sentence. As such, the Surrender, declaration of Neutrality for Anciliary Fedral Cluster Holdings, and Transfer of Primary Fedral Holdings to Godulan Authority were all given the same priority. As such, these worlds did not transfer to you as a result of this surrender, but transferred to us as part of it. So if you can note, they did indeed do it all at the same time, in respect to differing considerations. The fifteen other systems previously under Fedral Control are placed under your command, these... are placed under ours.

"So no, these worlds are most assuredly not yours, and we will thank you to take up your invasion force and kindly piss off. We might even give you a lollipop."

And with that, the last Slaughterking bolted towards the surface, seeming to move from a standstill to top speed instantaneously, and smacked into the planetary surface like a crystalline water balloon.

"So then, they wish to trifle with me do they." Prefect Hallocir growled, his youthful features twisted in to a mask of rage. "Do these people understand you simply CANT surrender then dictate your OWN terms, this is ridiculous. Deal with the Godulan vessel Commodore, I shall convene with the council." the Prefect stood and left, flanked by several replicant attendants dressed in flimsy gossamer uniforms.

"Track the vessel to its impact point, all vessels release Drone's, Gras and AM rounds. I want a fourty square kilometer area burnt out to the bed rock, do you understand?" The bridge became a flurry of activity as replicants prepared to provide Ortillery support to the ground forces. "Find the other impact points, scan for the same materials as in those ships, then burn out eighty square kilometers, down to the bed rock. Keep scanning and if any remains, switch to Xas fire, cut it out like Cancer." Commodore Marinev then returned to her command throne.

She watched as the six meter missile-drones exited their launch bays, hundreds of them soaring down to the surface of the planet. Within moments massive explosions could be seen on the surface below, gigatons of energy being released against a single point. The Gras weapons beams were flickering in and out as they burnt their way through rock with ease, stopping only after burning away portions of the bed rock, kilometers below.

Several ships moved in to firing position and started firing xasers, the hard beams flickered in and out as they cut at the edges of the target zone, going over areas with a grim certainty. They may not be able to stop them infecting the other worlds...but this one..they could. Thankfully the Godulans had given them the means to stop them in their own transmission.

An enemy should never give away the means to defeat them in a diplomatic message, if you want us to burn you to the bedrock, then we shall oblige you. The Commodore continued to watch the scene with a grim fascination. She could already see the dust starting to form in the atmosphere. A nuclear winter was a small price to pay to remove the Kython threat.

The fifth site was easily enough terminated, the infection being incinerated before it could get sufficiently deep to avoid annihilation. As for the other four however, subsequent scans of the bombardment area would show a multitude of tiny holes bored deeper into the continental crust. Delving any further into the rock with such explosive weapons was liable to cause significant seismic disruptions.

They only go to the bedrock?

So they do have limits.

Either that or they suck at Geology.

That's the problem with people nowadays. Its always space space space, what can we do from space. Nobody ever thinks to burrow anymore.

Granted, nobody can do burrowing quite as well as we can.

Indeed.

So what now?

Let them think they have won for the time being. On this world at least they have the initial upper hand. Let them come down and establish themselves so we have things to shoot at later.

Ah. I see where you're going. Yeah, good idea, that.

Captain Ulgand was just walking to the bridge adjusting his tunic. He had just woken up after a hard days work. "Captain Ulgand!" a subordinate called out. She came running over to the Captain with a datapad.

"Yes Lieutenant what is it?" Ulgand asked.

"Sir I have reports that our reinforcements have come in. Here is the confirmation data."

"I see. Thank you Lieutenant I shall inform the Admiral of this. Dismissed."

"Sir."

Several minutes later Ulgand walked into the bridge of the Black Death. Ulgand found Grand Admiral Kra'Dem in his usual place by the viewport over looking New Siberia. "Admiral, our reinforcements have come in."

"Good. Divert 100 Ryuriks and 150 Victory IIIs to Admiral Pskov's defense fleet and disperse the rest evenly to all patrol commanders."

"Yes sir I will get on it. Any more orders?" Ulgand asked

"Send a message to Ryurik that we have received the reinforcements and inform him of the current situation. That is all."

"Yes Admiral." Ulgand walked off towards communications as Kra'Dem looked into the viewport once again.
