Venice Port, Alversia

The Crowds cheered as the RNS Enternal Hope steamed out of Port and headed for the open ocean. The King himself was there to wish them farwell as the Naval Frigate vanished over the horizon. It was a calm summer's day in the Mediterranean and so the sails were not up. The crew bustled about, completeing their duties while the Soldiers and Civilians wandered lazily around the bow of the vessel.

They were all excited about their mission. Establish a colony in Africa for the Alversian People.

So this is an IC hub? (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=516060)

Or don't we have one and everyone's factbooks/IC actions will become lost?

I'll also point out there may be a contested region of current day Vietnam, Burma, and Cambodia.

The RNS Enternal Hope steamed down the coast of Africa, seeking a place to send the soldiers and civilians ashore. They would continue to search until a location suitable for habitation was found.

OOC: I Can't really claim any colonies until everyone who's going to get involved has claimed their own homeland. It makes it slightly tricky to do this

*the sound of creaking wood and sloshing water echoed below decks, there was no one there. Everyone was above deck, as crowds gathered to wish the military men a good journey for when they departed their port of Puerto Oro, the port of gold. The Bolivarians boarded their ship, packing enough food, water, ammunition, wood cords, and comforts to hopefully see them through their journey. The Bolivarian goal? establish a trade post on the Dark Continent, the savage land where few would dare to tread. Sails unfurled and ship loose from the dock, they make their way to the savage land.*

There was also something else Happening in the republic. An army, some 100,000 strong, was preparing to push on the small territory of Uruguay, consisting of countless cazadores, 400 pieces of artillery, and of course, 30,000 units of cavalrymen, armed variously with sabres, armor, carbines, pistols. some were nothing more than patriotic gauchos, others trained cuirassiers. The march would begin.

The entire 3rd fleet of the Hurtful Trading Company was undergoing a small operation to secure exclusive trading rights with Madagascar.

The fleet consisted of 10 frigates (/w/ triple expansion steam engines), 10 clippers, and 80 armed packet ships.

The clippers would move ahead first, and try and secure the rights peacefully before the rest of the fleet arrived.

Vetalian Imperial Railways

As per the order of the Vetalian Council and his imperial majesty Emperor Feydor IV, the government has authorized 150 million Solaris per year for the construction of new standard gauge rail lines linking our major population and economic sectors. We are confident that at least 200 miles of new lines can be added each year and another 50 miles of older

Nations interested in linking their systems to ours can be discussed at this time. We would also like to discuss sales of coal and the construction of coaling stations to supply our trains in routes throughout the continent.

The longboats groaned loudly as they scraped along the shallow bottom. First off the boats were the Soldiers of the Alversian Army. Ensuring that nobody was around to disturb their operation. When all was clear, they gave the signal to the Frigate moored offshore and the civilians can ashore. Although their surroundings were pretty barren, they knew this would be the best place for Alversian Ships to stop before attempting to round the Cape of Good Horn.

Serbia

Following negotiations and a large pay packet, King Carol III of Serbia has finally agreed to allow the Alversian Army to cross her borders and take control of Serbia for Alversia. The Serbian Army is to aid them in this quest and the people, who have long wanted to join their brothers in the north, have no intentions of resisting. Serbia would soon become a part of a greater Alversia.

For many years, Alversia had attempted to buy the rights to Serbia through her King, Carol the Third. The King had held out for many years as his own dynasty had been in control for over 200 years. Eventually however, pressure from the public who wished to join their fellow Serbs in Bosnia (annexed 1840) and from his own Army, which claimed it wouldn't be able to contain the feelings of the public any longer, decided finally to accept the Alversian pay package. 10,000 Alversian troops crossed the border just hours after King Carol III's agreement. The 20,000 strong Serbian Army was ordered not to resist the advance and to aid the Alversians in stamping out resistance. To the Serbs the Alversian columns were heroes and treated as such in virtually every town.

Western Sahara

The first parts of the Colonly were established, the hospital, the port, the trenches. From this, the Settlers would spread out as their numbers increased in order to gain more control over the region. They already had their eyes set on the more fertile lands to the south

The ironclads set sail from the docks at Beirut. The challenge was daunting, to build a colony in North America. What a task for a couple ships from the Levant, the trip would take years. But the profits wil be amazing, given that the sugar plantations turn out good. The ships set sail, for their year long trip to Florida.

OOC: I don't have a problem with you setting up colonies, but Ironclads were not at this time seaworthy enough to cross the oceans, such as the Atlantic.

ooc- well the French had La Gloire in 1860
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FS_Gloire_%281858-1883%29

and the british had HMS warrior in 1860
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Warrior_%281860%29

the ones I use are not the Monitor and the Merrimack, they are more of ships-of-the-line that have been retrofitted with iron hulls and had steam engines put in them. they use a mixture of steam and wind power.

Serbia

Following a fast campaign across the Country, the Alversian Army, supported by the Serbian Army, encountered next-to-no resistance from either the Serbian Soldiers or the local populace. A few isolated garrisons attempted to fight but the superior training and equipment of the Alversian Army ensured these pockets were easily stamped out. Just 40 hours after crossing the northern borders, the Alversian General in command of the troops was able to declare the country under occupation and pacified.

A annexiation treaty was quickly drawn up and signed, reluctantly, by King Carol III and more eagerly by his Generals. Serbia offically became a part of Alversia that midnight and people came out into the streets to celebrate. They were promised a new era of industry and prosperity under Alversian rule. A few dissidents fled into the mountain ranges of Serbia but where ruthlessly hunted down by the former-Serbian Army. The Serbian Army was dissolved and desireable units were pressed into Alversian service. The rest were realised to make their own way in the New Serbia. The old Serbian Flag was outlawed and it was ordered that all Flagpoles bear the Alversian Flag instead.

King Carol III fled the country to Bulgaria with a few loyal supporters and attempted to rally his own Army to retake his country. He was killed a few days later after being shot by a poisened arrow during a hunt. With his death, the morale of the 'Free Serbians' plummeted and many simply returned home. Peace came to Serbia at long-last.

Casualties
Alversian Army: 50 dead, 150 Wounded
Serbian Army: 200 dead, 400 Wounded
Free Serbian Army: 600 dead, 500 Wounded

Following a lightning campaign across the Country, the Alversian Army was able to declare Serbia under the control of Alversia. The Formal Annexeation was quickly drawn up and signed. Serbia became a region of the Republic of Alversia.

Rebelling against Austria-Hungary, the USSR, etc and you are able to steam roll right into Serbia. Even today it is one of the most conflicted regions in the world. You didn't even throw in your troop numbers or any sort of strategey aside from a blitzkrieg. While using speed as a way to frighten your opponent, lets be realistic. If this stays the likelyhood I'll be at war with you is rather high. If you rp it correctly you can have it without me even saying a word.

With the Prime Minister’s approval the ships set sail, two for military forces and one for the colonizers, indentured servants among others, to establish plantation colonies in the Caribbean.

OOC: It was a rather blunt post I'll admit
I've fleshed it out so it makes more sense. Sorry, won't be so sparse again.

OOC@NB: A trip from Lebonon to America would not take years. Even a ship sailing at 10 Knots (Not unreasonable) could do at least 138 miles a day. It would not take years for a ship to reach America.

OOC- This will be a couple months later.

The ships arrived at what is now called the island of Martinique. Dozens of whaleboats landed on the island. The soldiers came out of thee boats, holding their Minié rifles in case that their would be resistance. After the soldiers, the colonists came out, these would be the men and women that would begin the New Brittonian colonial empire. A man came and stuck the flag of New Brittonia on the ground.
“I claim this land for the Republic of New Brittonia!”, was what Mohammed al-Bakhit said.
“You ten”, he said while pointing to some soldiers, “scout the land for anyone living and bring their leader to me! The rest of us, lets build our city!”

“You may come in“, Governor of New New Brittonia al-Bakhit said.
“Thank you governor. May I give you the daily report?”, the soldier asked.
“Go ahead, I am prepared for the worst.”
“Well. . . The first item is that we have effectively neutralized the rebel natives on the island, they are called the Caribs, sir.”
“I know that, and good.”
“The navy has discovered four more islands near here, and many smaller ones.” (Present day Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Grenada, the Grenadines, and Tobago.)
“Well, I expect those to also be claimed.”
The soldier gave a sheet pf paper with Arabic script on it and said,
“Just sign this and they will be claimed.”
Governor Bakhit signed the papers and asked,
“Is there anything else?”
“Well, there is progress in Port-Brittonia.”
“Which is.”
“We have completed our mosque.”
“I will go pray there on Friday.”
“Also, we finished the port last week.”
“I know.”
“Well, the first ship has arrived, bringing in five thousand workers and supplies.”
“That is good.”
“Finally, we have converted the Caribs here to Islam.”
“By the book or the sword?”
“Well, the resistance was decimated due to the Minié rifle against spears and arrows. The remaining ones thought that we were gods or something, they all converted.”
“And that will be how the rest f the islands will view us.”
“Finally, we are expecting about ten thousand people to become servants on these islands. More with new islands being discovered.”
“Good, you may leave now.”

The Mapmaker stared out the window of the Imperial Palace, thinking. He had just finished his speech at the funeral of his predicessor, General Hagwabe. It was Hagwabe's vision and charisma that had forged the nation out of old colonies and tribal lands. It was Hagwabe's vision that had equipped the army with modernized weapons, knowing that they would one day be used. Now he was dead, struck down by natives in the Uganda region. he had been trying to convince the tribes-people to join the empire. They had ambushed him and his bodyguards, leaving only a few alive to tell the world what had happened. Now, as the first official action of his reign, the Mapmaker had ordered troops into the Uganda region, to take it by force. It was this that was troubling the Mapmaker. He hated the idea of forcing anyone to join an empire. It seemed so...wrong. Buthe had been attacked, so it was justified. At least, thats what he told himself. He turned as a door opened behind him. His advisor, Woppet, walked in, grinning.
"Wonderful speech, Mapmaker. I told you you could do it."
"I'm glad it went over well. I don't think I could do it again if I tried."
"You won't have to. Generally you only have to give a funeral speech once per person."
"I find it slightly disturbing that, while the entire nation mourns, you still find a way to make fun of someone," commented the Mapmaker wryly.
"Ah, it's my way of coping. Did you hear the news?"
"News? I just gave my speech a half-hour ago. What could be news so soon?"
"Well, we have reports that a forign nation is making a claim on Madagascar."
"Mmm. That's close. And that's astride some nice shipping lanes too, isn't it."
"I believe so, sir."
"Let's see if we can't get a presence in the Mozambique region. We don't know if they're a hostile presence, so we might as well prepare for the worst. Send in troops to annex Mozambique."

With this comes the odered construction of 4 New Factories in New Berlin to be completed at the same time as the rail network.
