Ever since a FTU scout ship came back with no data because the crew didn't realize the sensors were off, a beeper had become a standard part of all the sensors.
The crew of the Octopus believed themselves to be the worst affected by them. The Octopus was a normal sized ship with eight large "wings" each containing a sensor system. The beepers were out of sync with each other so it was possible to tell if one was off. However with eight beepers the ship was filled with constant beeping at all times. It had a large effect on the crew's performance. The ship had almost been pulled into a gas giant an hour earlier. But now the crew was beginning to have a happier outlook on the mission. A few twinkling lights were seen next to a medium sized planet well within the star's habitable zone and they appeared to be moving closer. The crew hurriedly cut the engine and prepared for a first contact.

As the ships of the Fleet of Divine Wrath moved closer to the FTU ship, a message was sent from the flagship, Enternal Fury, " Your destruction is the will of the gods, and we are their instrament."

On the bridge of the Enternal Fury a Sangheili was commanding the Fleet of Divine Wrath. He was almost 3 meters tall, and wore gold armor. His name was Raga 'Putomee. He barked out orders to his command staff. " Link fleet fire control to me. use energy projectors to disable the crafts engines, then lucnh boarding parties. Take no prisoners. Capture the Nav database intact. I want to know the source of these vermin."

The fleet targeted the Vermin's enegines and fired. Dozens of boarding craft launched and raced to the ship.

"We're getting a message! Holy shit!"

"Step aside, Centra Protocol says the captain will read and respond to all messages."

"Your destruction is the will of the gods, and we are their instrument."

"That's definitely not good. Start the engine."

"Engines been disabled. They fired something, an energy pulse or something, the engines been out for minutes. Even if we fix it the warm up period is too long. We're stuck."

"Why can't they have the beeper on the engine?!!? Fuck! Are they firing anything? Anything shooting?"

"No, sir, but they're getting closer. They're gonna board!!"

"Scuttle the Nav database!"

"Impossible captain. All ships Nav databases are locked as decreed by protocol 90."

"Damn Bueracrats! They're gonna lead them right to us. We need to blow the ship."

"No good, Captain. Self Destruction requires an engine implode and we don't have an engine"

"We are not in range, so no transmissions back. We are too far out for a patrol. I guess we go down fighting."

"With what?"

"Uh... Well I guess we go down surrendering."

As the first wave docked, the boarcding crafts hatches apeared to be empty, while dozens of spec ops Sangheili spread into the ship killing the crew as quickly and quitely as possible. The next landing force comprised of Minor Domos and majors. Leading this wave was Raga 'Putomee. "Go forht my brothers and kill the vermin. Clense this vessel." As he said this hundreds of grunts left the landing ships and started to sweep the ship groups of five. The Fleet master lead the attack on the bridge.
Special Operations Commander Rtas 'Vadumee lead the force of Special Operations Sangheili that was searching the ship for the nav database. Breach this door and the prize shall be ours! Use a plasma grednade to destroy the lock, then kill any infidels that are hiding."

The sounds of combat reverberated throughout the ship. The Captain had issued a surrender order but it seemed something had gone wrong. When the plasma grenade blew open the door, the Captain knew that this was no simple misunderstanding. Projectiles ripped through the crew and the Captain with his dying breath sent out a pre-written message to all ships in range.

"This is the FTU scout ship Octopus. We have been ruthlessly attacked by a strange alien race in the Allgeary system. We request all those in range to help. If this message is received please forward to the Centra Command Military branch on the planet of Firefly."

1400 hours, February 19th, 2671 (Military Calendar)\
Sensor Station Hercules, Arvadi System

"Lieutenant, we have an incoming message. It's from Unknown System 45-G." Lieutenant Warken looked up from his papers at Ensign Parker. His eyes showed bags, a sign of how he worked himself to the bone trying to keep the station at the highest efficiency possible and do his paperwork. It was a significant toll on him, as one could see. His clothes were rumpled and he had five'o'clock shadow.

"Alright, Parker, show me what ya got." The Ensign tapped in the commands and the message appeared on the main screen. The entire crew, which had been sleepy, quickly woke up at the message:

"This is the FTU scout ship Octopus. We have been ruthlessly attacked by a strange alien race in the Allgeary system. We request all those in range to help. If this message is received please forward to the Centra Command Military branch on the planet of Firefly."

Warken woke up immediately. "Westman, get working on renaming those systems and saving those star coordinates and send them to the Imperial Navigation Center; they will be happy to get the new data. Parker, relay that message to HIGHCOM and see if you can have them send us an investigating squadron, preferably two battlegroups." They blanched; two battlegroups was a lot of firepower.

"Sir, are you sure we need that much?" The Lieutenant fixed him a glare.

"Dammit, Parker, follow the damn order! Remember the last time a "strange alien race" that attacked us ruthlessy?! The fucking Covenant nearly wiped us out, dammit! Now send that message and prepare a message to their Centra Command military branch on Firefly."

"Yes sir."

The bridge crew quickly went to work, sending out the messages and uploading and saving the data, causing the stellar charts to change significantly. Parker spoke up after a tense three minutes. "Sir, sent a message to HIGHCOM. I have opened a link to the planet Firefly, as requested. We only need your input, sir." Warken nodded and cleared his throat.

Attention Firefly Centra Command, this is Lieutenant Warken of the Terran Imperial Navy. We have detected an incoming distress signal from one of your ships, requesting we send you their message. We are preparing to mobilize and move in forces to force out any threat and find out what happened to your ship. The ship I believe was the FTU Octopus. Lieutenant Warken out.

With the message sent, they waited for the reply from HIGHCOM......

---------------------------------

Fleet Admiral Carlyle in the midst of negotiations with the galactic powers that had aided him in the Second Battle for Harvest, was interrupted by his A.I. "Sir, we are receiving a message from a Sensor Station Hercules. It is deemed Urgent and HIGHCOM eyes only." Carlyle narrowed his eyes and replied quietly. "Send it to my holopad." The A.I sent a confirmation and his holopad beeped. Opening it, he read the files and his eyes widened.

"Is this what I think it is?"

"It is highly possible, sir. HIGHCOM has been informed and they all agree we can take no chances. The last strange new alien species result in our near-extinction."

"What have they requested?"

"Two heavily armed battlegroups, as well as a Battle Fleet to be sent as reinforcements, in case our fears are realized."

"Do it."

"Yes sir." The call was sent and the two 100 ship fleets shifted and vanished out of the Harvest system, heading for the Allgeary system, somewhat behind the two battlegroups.

They were heading for a conflict historical in the making....

----------------

Allgeary system

A cloud of blue flashes appeared as the Jericho and Hera battlegroups appeared in the system. Commanded by Captain Stefan, they were ordered to investigate what was going on. As soon as the sensors were deployed and pinged off the Covenant fleet all hell broke loose....

"Sir, sensors are reading a massive fleet in this system. Reading a single ship with immense damage to its engines. It also appears to have boarding craft stuck to its sides."

"Can you get better data?"

"The sensors are still powering up, so they should be giving us a full scan soon enough. And-" An alarm blared and the bridge went red as the alert lights came on. The voice of Mara, their A.I. sounded.

[i]"Covenant forces detected. Enacting Elias Protocol; All ships are to go to Code Black and prepare for immediate engagement. Sending messages to HIGHCOM and all military facilities in the Imperium. The Imperium is to go Code Black, I repeat, it is to go Code Black-" The Commander swore.

"Carl, send a message to Battle Fleet Thor; we need their ships and fast. That fleet outnumbers us vastly! And send our own transmissions to HIGHCOM, just in case. Deploy all Longswords, unlock safeties on our nukes and the Archer missile pods. Power up weapons and shields to full. Have both battlegroups form together in a Beta formation; we don't have the firepower yet to fight a force that size, but we can sure hold them off plenty, as long as we don't let them rush us."

"Yes sir!" The orders were given and the mass of messages sent. The ships flickered and shields were fully activated and lights began to appear all over the ships as they powered up for combat. The large fleet of Covenant was now faced with sixteen heavily armed ships, with a cloud of sixteen squadrons of Longswords. Battle Fleet Thor would be arriving shortly to reinforce the two battlegroups. Stefan smirked grimly.

"Alright, let's show these bastards how powerful we have become and prove to them that a second attempt at human genocide isn't going to happen."

The battle for the Allgeary System had begun...and the stage was set for a new Covenant-Human war.

Raga 'Putomee was returning to his ship when the human forces had entered the system. he raced t the bridge and took command of his fleet. "Link all fire control to me, and remove safety interlocks. Heat all plasma lines and target the largest ships in the vermin's fleet." The Fleet of Divine Wrath moved towards the human battegroups at flank speed, and when they got within 75,000 kilometers they fiured what looked like a solar flare at the human vessels, hundreds of plasma torpedoes guided by invisible hands toward their targets accelerate and as they neared impact they arced to cause more damage. "Now charge energy projectors and aim for the prow of the vessels!" The fleet slowed as power was funneled into the enegy projectors and then space was light up in a glorious white light.

CNS Doomingsland

Yet another Air Hippo class battlecruiser, yet another thread, yet another post of me treading on everything on what FT consider sacred. Or at least I would think so. Hello Internet.

But moving on.

One of the twelve (or is it thirteen?) Cassiopeian battlecruisers exploring the great expanse, it sought to find new species and lifeforms to make peace and love and... maybe wild poker nights with. Except this Admiral wasn't exact... diplomatic, no. He left that to his officers. He was one of hundreds of Captains and Admirals that were... insane. Or at least eccentric. See most Cassiopeian Admirals used reason and logic.

This specific Admiral used vulgar displays of power, or at least, he was very rude.

This was Dimebag Maximus of the CNS Doomingsland, and he was ready to kill.

Mind you he would never attack without a just cause, it's just, he always wanted to kill something, I mean last night he sacrificed a cat to Eddie Van Halen, I mean yes he's a good guitarist, but, the whole sacrificing an animal to a long dead guitarist (remember folks this is the future, pretend!) seems a little... eh. I'm just sayin', animal sacrificial slaughters are not my thing, hell I mean I like a cute kitty. Saying that I do think that Eddie Van Halen is made of win and all of those who disagree should go die.

Moving on.

Dimebag (with his white Admiral's uniform and cap) had a rather long beard, not Fidel sized, but, it was beard-ish. He was an overweight person, not obese, but, he really should lose some weight. Next to him was a bottle of 150 proof bottle of Cassiopeian vodka. Though he did smell pretty.

Must've been the cat.

"I tell ya boys if I don't press the red button soon Imma have to kill a puppy." The Admiral said rather gruffly.

One of the officers coughed. "Sir... there is no red button. It's an imaginery numeric sequence we use to launch the missiles."

Dimebag leered at the officer. "Next time I won't use a puppy..." A beep appeared. Oh look a message. Also Dimebag snorted. "What the hell is that?!"

The officer looked at the panel. "A message. Apparently somebody is being attacked by an alien fleet, I suggest we ignore... oh what's this? Terrans? Sir it seems the Terrans are involved in this battle. They're close to us ya know."

Dimebag stood up, alcohol in hand. "Oh hell ya! Let's go whip some head!"

And so the battlecruiser warped towards the area of trouble... and there it was! Now what it did I'm going to have to make you wait, because, the author is hungry and has order Chinese. Also the author is lazy, so what can ya do right? But don't worry folks a new post will come soon, I hope.

Firefly

Not much had happened in the FTU recently. Just normal administrative duties and trade negotiation assignments. The distress signal was just the breath of fresh air the staff needed. Even those not reporting to combat duties were eager for the break in monotony that their new logistical and strategic assignments would bring. Within a few hours, the motley crew of Privateers in converted merchant vessels and the more organized but smaller FTU navy that made up the Allgeary Expeditionary force were on their way to assist in the battle.

Outskirts of the Allgeary system

Henry Morgan, the captain of the Oblivion, was not happy. He was less that two hours away from capturing the rogue ship Hispaniola when he was called to duty. Morgan's privateering license gave him much freedom but was also a big pain in the ass as he was required to obey direct CC (Centra Command) orders. So now, the Oblivion battleship and the rest of
Morgan's fleet were heading into the Allgeary system to prevent the Covenant from escaping before the Allgeay Expeditionary force arrived.

Stefan looked at the screen, which was filled with a haze of red as the plasma torpedoes shot through space towards their own fleet, hundreds of them. The Captain calmly turned to the communications officer. "Status of Battle Fleet Thor?"

"They know about the Covenant and are going as fast as they can without damaging the ships. I have been told they should be here soon. If we can just survive this initial volley, we should be alive by the time they arrive." Stefan nodded and turned back to the tactical display.

"Very well, all ships, use the plasma counterguiding system and get some of them either off course or have them run into other torpedoes. The less we have to deal with, the better. For all the ones we miss, fire our plasma turrets and plasma torpedoes into them. and have the fleet go to evasive action once they come in range."

The ships drifted apart, using their thrusters to move away from each other. The plasma torpedoes rushed in, acting like hungry wolves pursuing an injured deer. However, as soon as they came within range, many of them jerked, and stopped, floating dead in space and fizzling out, as the counterguidance systems went to work. Others were sent into the paths of other torpedoes, which collided and exploded into masses of red plasma. Many were lost through either of these methods. However, still they came on and still they were fought. Space roiled as wave after wave of plasma bolts and torpedoes were sent to fight the remaining torpedoes. Those hit exploded and filled the void with their eerie light. The remainder, few compared to what had come at them when fired, slammed into the carriers and cruisers.

The ships rocked, and shuddered, as shields flared white and red explosions dotted the shields. The destroyers moved to intercept many of the torpedoes, and received the same treatment, their own shields imitating solar flares with a good measure of success. The Captain's own carrier shuddered under the assault, forcing the Captain to stumble forward and grip the railing.

"Report!"

"The torpedoes hit us and hit us hard, sir. Shields are down to 74% but the generators are compensating and strength is returning. Receiving similar reports all across the board. It would appear that all the innovations and upgrades we did to their tech, as well as adding the Forerunner into the mix seems to have paid off." Stefan smiled wanly.

"I'll be saying that when we have two hundred more ships aiding us." A shout interrupted anything else they were going to say.

"Sir! Reading large energy spikes in the Covenant fleet. Type and location points to energy beam projectors." The Captain snorted. "I see. Very well, use the emergency thrusters when needed and dodge those damned blasts! Use the A.I.'s data to guide you. Also, begin powering up our own energy beam projectors and aim them at the largest ship in their fleet. I want that ship hurt and hurt badly."

The Covenant energy beams lanced through space towards their ships. Many dodged them, as their thrusters, aided by A.I., moved them out of the way. Two carriers, a cruiser, and four destroyers were hit and their shields flared even brighter, as the shields took the hit. However, the shields held, if with a good amount of setback to the shield strength regeneration, and then their return salvo came. Their own beams, brighter and fuller with more power pumped into their beams, sliced through the blackness of space and headed towards the Eternal Wrath Class Battleship in the Covenant fleet.

"Sir, They have just used the same counter guidance system we use!" exclaimed Voro 'Mantakree, his second in command. "Next time you dectect it, have the torpedoes lock in on signal source. Have the fleet ready another salvo of plasma." Fleet Master 'Putomee ordered. "Sir we have incoming Energy Projectors if i am reading this right. How did these vermin get such advanced weapons? It is targeting us!" "Quickly, have the ship jump behid the Vermin and then diverate power to the weapons." The Energy porjectors were grazing the shields as the ship disapered for a split second, and entered normal space again behind the Human Fleet just as the rest of his fleet launched plasma torpedoes. This time howerever, The Infidels would not miss guide the holy instruments.
