Carloginias

TO: King (Forgot sorry!)
FROM: President James Harselav of Carloginias
RE:

It has come to my attention that Honako's people have wished for the country to shatter it's status as a sleeping giant in the world, and show itself as one of the most powerful countries in the world. I myself have read of some of your customs, and I ask you in the name of prosperity between our two nations break it-- I invite your entire family or signifigant other to Carloginias City in order for you to stay with my family at the Presidential palace. The suite can be set up immeidetly. Your arrival can be hidden from the public eye. The choice is of course, yours to make. I feel that good relations between our two great nations is paramount to surviving in this harsh world.

Your friend,

James Harselav.

OOC: Don't know where I'm going or what city it is...but erm, I'll RP it somehow.

The first people to arrive where the King's girlfriend and her "aide", a small woman of Asian descent who did everything for her. She was a classy woman, who had the facial distinction and looks of a model, and, unlike most of the King's lovers - of which there were new ones every few months - she was not blonde, and not clumsy, was brunette, and knew about politics. Perhaps she would last - she certainly was about to be part of a historic event - the first time the King would leave to another country in 120 years.

She walked quickly towards the end of the airport in her high heels trying not to be noticed - it was quite hard. In Honakon she could go to Belle Street in Duska, the most expensive in all of Honakon, and not be out of place whilst buying her latest $20,000 Gucci dress. Here, it was cold, depressing, and the people looked at her - she did not like it.

Finally, after attracting little media attention, she slide into a limo outside the entrance of the gate, and sped off into the city.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Twenty minutes later and the Limo slowly pulled up to the building they were to meet in...the King would be a while, he still had to finalize the meeting of leaders, though she knew enough to know what was best for Honakon, and he knew it.

OOC-

I invite your entire family or signifigant other to Carloginias City

Didn't make it clear, sorry. Carloginias city is pretty cultured too, you must of landed in the bad side of town lol. Note, he building where we are meeting is Russia's RL Kremlin.

IC:

President Harselav recieved the news well that the Honakon King's girl friend had arrived in Carloginias City, apparently at the wrong air port. A limosuine was luckily there and ready to pick here up and take her to the Kremlin where they would all be staying. The gates opened as the King's girl friend's limo pulled into the spacious area of the Kremlin. James Harselav himself walked to the car as the doors swung open for Nicholas' girlfriend to step out into one of the most culturally advanced palaces in all of Carloginias.

OOC: Oh - I didn't see that. By the way, as well as improving relations you could use this as a chance to convince me to support you in the Kamp war - I'm undecided currently, though favouring on Kamp only cause all my allies have. Don't think if you try it will happen though - the risks of supporting you could be great, and I might just remain neutral after all. Other than that - if you read the 'Meeting of Leaders (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=528967&page=5)' thread last few posts, you'll see a pact called the Duska pact - I hope to leave this meeting with something similar to that. And I just RP'd it as if I was in Soviet Russia lol.

The King's girlfriend, who's name was Stephane DuBose, stepped out of the car. She strutted towards the most formal looking man, the President, and greeted him with a kiss on both cheeks, the womanly greeting of Honakon.

"Well, isn't this just lovely" She said, looking around the large palace. Imposing more like, she thought, but wouldn't dream of saying it.

"So Mr. President, are you planning to show me around and discuss things?" She smiled "I'm not just the King's company - I have political experience, and he has trusted me with dealing with this meeting until he, if he ever, arrives."

((OOC- Lol. Thats why I love the Kremlin so much. Time to try to find a map of the Kremlin. Hopefully a nice American spy posted it up on the internet. Anyway looking up the Duska Pact now.))

"I welcome you to Carloginias. We are currently undergoing economic reform from an old age of social inequality, so it is obviously not as advanced as Honako but I trust the scenery is suffice to your likeing?"

Harselav knew that the Kremlin was the most beautiful of buildings. He mostly used it on weaker countries as a sign of Carloginias' power, but Ms. DuBose didn't cringe at all a good diplomat. "There is a quite a bit to show. Come, please."

President Harselav stood side by side with Ms. DuBose as they traveled about the Kremlin.

"Here are the great towers of the Kremlin." They were at the base of one currently. "I love this place. Beautiful. But there are some questions I must ask you. I am most interested to know Honako's position on our current war with Kampfers."

((EDIT: Duska pact sounds good to me.))

OOC: The West is kind of similar to Indonesia, but with about a 175 million population (as the West she refers to actually includes more than the government designated areas of the West – it also has most of the central desert areas as well). I’ll be off soon, but continue posting.

"Honakon is advanced and rich – around 1.2 billion people in our country live great lives, with high incomes and easy access to amenities. The areas of the East and South are some of the most beautiful, powerful and prosperous in the world - we have an economy of $12 trillion remember. Though the problem is our massive population. We have to look after, feed and keep happy a population of one and a half billion people - this leaves us, in all reality, in not much of a better situation than you. Socially, we are sound - and the East and South produce some $10.5 trillion for our economy. But, in the West, were the least live, we have around 60.4% of 92 million leaving with wages under the national average, and a 21% poverty rate. Despite our socialist and equal economy, we still have some one hundred million who we deemed as “underequals” in the fact they have less than we want them to have – half of them live in the west. But, we are working on that - the rich mineral and stone areas of there mean that now the west accounts for nearly $1 trillion of our economy, a vast improvement."

She paused and looked around at the towers - they were beautiful, though not in her style.

"The situation here for Honakon is hard. Kampfers is not a nation that we have desired, neither have they desired, to pursue relations with – we have no problems with them; we just merely see trying to become allies with them as unimportant in the scheme of things. You, however, are the large Northern Neighbour of Honakon – and the only one out of the conference we are holding now in Duska we would like to call ally really, minus possibly Koppar. But, if we sign this pact in that very meeting, we could simply not go on your side fully – we could not fight our allies we had worked so hard for. Though I assume if we supported Kamp, even diplomatically, it would damage our standings with you. It is a hard choice for us as you see, some favour we simply remain neutral – the King has yet to decide.”

“As for the war itself, I believe some of the causes are just – freeing people from a dictator is one of them. However, it seems some nations view Kamp as a weak nation that needs help – and your reasons overall aside from the freeing the oppressed were quite poor. It is hard to side with the aggressor.”

"While I see Honako's difficulty deciding whether a war is justified, Kampfers itself is Europe's weakest economy. Their dictator is attempting to support a modern army numbering 3,000,000 men. That army outnumbers our professional army many times over. An army that size plus a dictator never equals anything good for any nation. There is no way that any true economic progress can be made within that country with an army that large. As soon as the war is over Carloginias will invite inspectors within the country to prove that Carloginias is treating those people as they deserve to be treated. Not opressively ruled, not forced under by a dictatorial regime. Our goal is to bring economic prosperity to all of the East, but with Kampfers stock piling weapons economic prosperity cannot be achieved. "

"It is, difficult. We will see how events unfold."

Stephane DuBose changed the subject.

"The King has told me something he would very much like to hear whether you are interested in...recently we have invaded Mongolia, and a number of people have been regarded as threats to our power. These people have been background checked and would be safe in other countries - but due to our quite brutal invasion have a distaste for us. We have heard of your desire to industrialize your nation - we have thousands of people that we would be willing to give away - they will provide cheap cheap labour, and although most of the skilled ones have been told to remain, they can do all your jobs such as factory work, carpentry etc...your acceptance would greatly improve Honakon and Royal opinion of you."

She had tried to word it well though.

"Any sort of industrialization is needed and accepted with thanks. I hope this agreement can bring benefits for both of our nations. Carloginias' economy has immense capactity to grow. Carloginias has one of the fastest economic growth rates in the world and this will only aide to increase it. Moving on, I will take you to the interior of the Kremlin." They walked to the entrace of the Kremlin. Beautiful Carloginian majesty greeted them as they entered the door. The guards opened the door for them both to enter.

DuBose were very pleased with herself in securing the border crossing of a few thousand Mongolians - this would no doubt persuade the King to buy her the $2 million necklace she had been eying up - that thought stayed with her as he walked into the Kremlin smiling.

She looked around the impressive structure, again imposing, but beautiful nevertheless. It reminded her of the formal Imperial Palace in Jabero, which she could only remember from images of the fantastic building in the media, as it had been largely destroyed in the Great Wars and abandoned in 1948.

"The King well may be able to make it, though I shouldn't count on it." At that point she received a phone call - after a few minutes of chat she finally put her mobile back in her pocket.

"He has informed me what he wants me to ask you about, encase he doesn't arrive." She smiled, and starting walking, looking around the building, with the President next to her. "It truly is an outstanding building. So, Mr. Harselav, can I call you James? So James, Honakon is very selective about its allies - recently however we signed a pact with many world powers which makes us as arguably the most allied nation in the world. Firstly, we would like to know more about your nation - your stance on Honakon, your basic future plans for improving the economy and military maybe, what you wish to do with Kamp, and the freedom of your country, in press, and life."

"There is much to say about my nation. I suppose I should begin with the obvious facts. We are the largest nation in the world, supporting the fourth largest population. We have the highest economic growth rate in all of Europe, and we are projected to have Europe's strongest economy the year after this. Carloginias is grounded on the pretenses of freedom, privatization, and capitalism in order for us to be able to compete on the international market. As the Carloginian economy improves and the defense budget improves the military increases it's size. Carloginias is very prideful of it's airforce. 'Those who control the skies control the ground, and to a lesser extent the sea." Harselav said this all in one breath, and then decided to continue.

"Of all nations in the world we wish to make Honako an ally of Carloginias. Asia is a continent of many diversities and we feel that diversities need to be united in order to create a stronger order of higher ethics and good virtues between our two sizeable nations. The economics of Honako and Carloginias can work hand in hand."

"Finally, I will adress the issue of what we will do with Kampfers. The first act of the Carloginian government in Kampfers will be to rebuild any infrastructure destroyed by acts of war. We will then enforce a new education system throughout all of Carloginia in order to help and raise our standard of living. Regarding just Kampfers, we will have corporations begin heavily investing in former Kampferian territory in order to provide jobs for the new Carloginian citizens. Furthermore Carloginias plans on building schools, hospitals, and other institutians that are essential for our new citizens to thrive. To cover everything, we are going to bring former Kampfers on par with the rest of Europe and to turn them into an economic paradise."

Harselav finished with that and awaited for Miss DuBose's response.

"Why, you are very confident." She paused and smiled "Whilst I view that as a good thing - some may see it as deluded. Kampfers is ruled by the iron fist of a dictator, and as much as it needs the power and prosperity in social care and economic improvement you could give it, I feel if you complete your plans of invasion the leader there and his loyal following will do everything they can to stop you via means of bombs, city internal fighting etc.,...we dealt with problems like this is Honakon Mongolia by deporting and detaining thousands, however in this case it could be millions for you to deal with."

"This is not to mention the fact that the nations of Granate, Kampfers and Shakal obviously plan on turning the assault back to you - which could find you defending your homeland if you do not act decisively. Already it has been publicly reported that Granate plans to attack an important port city of yours - and one that lies very close to our coast. This is why, if Honakon was to join you in this war, it would have to be a focused attack by our nation - we would defend your country and possibly help you expand, though could not fight our allied troops, such as Granate."

"Other than that, your optimistic attitude is pleasing to hear, and it is could to see you focus on economic growth in a nation, that, much like ours, has been plagued with the problems of rich and poor divides and a sometimes less than successful economy - though now we are arguably two of, if not the, fastest growing economies in the world."
Carloginias
25-06-2007, 20:56
"Optimism is always needed in bleak times. The Kampferian leadership is to be decicively defeated. Granetian forces will not be tolerated on the Asian continent, I assure you. We will always welcome support on our side and would be delighted to have Honako enter the war on our side; however I fear that Granate, Shakal, and Kampfers stand up to Waldenburg, Carloginias, and hopefully other Europeans. Your troops, would be mostly concerned with the western front as to stay away from Granetian forces I take it?"

((OOC- My bad for crappy post))

DuBose tried to avoid saying "yes" at any point, in order to dodge committing herself or Honakon to anything.

"If we were to be involved in this war, I do see the Western Front as being the place for the some 250,000 troops we have mobilized for the fight if we do join - the Ukraine or Poland being their likely destination, as we are more likely to see less Granate opposition their. You must understand, that although, if we were to side with you in this war, it would be a diplomatic suicide to fight Granate - our close ally - even if we do somewhat support your cause and have a massive military, especially naval, presence in that area of the East. At the minute we are waiting for the situation to unfold before choosing sides, though will completely avoid engage with troops of any of our allies."

OOC: Honako, I have responded to the Jamaica thread
Carloginias
25-06-2007, 21:21
"That is of course understandable. If you do decide to join the action in Europe we will of course provide accomadations within our country to fit your troops with our own barracks should that need arise. You will have no need to fight Granate. We respect your decision to avoid war with a new ally. The situation is soon to unfold I believe.

((OOC- I am going to post in the war thread as soon as Kampf answers some questions I TGed him about.))

"So, James, is there anything you would like to know about Honakon which our fact sheets (OOC: factbook) can not provide before you plunge into an alliance with us?"
Carloginias
27-06-2007, 19:46
"I believe you mentioned a twin city earlier, perhaps to bring some of the Honakon splendor to Carloginias? A multi-cultural nation has been a personal goal for my nation since I took office." Harselav personally was estatic that an excellent agreement had been worked out between the two nations.
Honako
29-06-2007, 22:42
DuBose was pleased with what she had got so far - but after the success of the immigrants, she was to push her luck further, though it was quite a small demand.

"The culture of Honakon in cities such as Benelux and Duska is a astounding. Benelux is a vibrant, massive European style town but with the skyscrapers and economy you would expect to find in the largest city in the world, and a night skyline that is dominated by the beautiful lights - it is often seen as a beacon of capitalism in Honakon's quite socialist economy."

"Duska is a far smaller but royal city. It is one of the oldest in Honakon, and the current home of the Imperial Palace, and therefore King Nicolas. It resembles Paris and is filled with golden ornate buildings, large sprawling hundreds of years old city squares, ludicrously expensive shops, cobbled European alleyways and streets, Cathedrals and the Royal buildings and government HQ. You can twin with both these cities, with your capital."

"I have one final thing to ask. You have decided to push into Shakal - firstly, when will this Imperialism stop James? And secondly, our country has long admired Italy, especially the city of Venice. We have also wanted to gather footholds in other continents, such as Africa and Europe. Therefore, if the invasion is successful, in exchange for our diplomatic, economic and more limited military support we would like to maintain and protect Venice as our European protectorate, if you could arrange this." She smiled sweetly.
Carloginias
29-06-2007, 22:55
"Carloginias City will be happen to be modeled after two of your cities. It will be truly interesting to see three cultures blending together. Surely you must see that a Shakalese supported Kampfers resulted in a conflict of interest to the entire European continent. After Shakal falls Eastern Europe will see peace and prosperity under a new economic plan which will bring Carloginias on par with the rest of Europe. "

"A protectorate of Venice would be.. difficult to say the least. Corbournne already sees me as an imperialist hound. Furthermore Northern Italy was promised to Corbournne in an 'of the record' deal. Perhaps you may see if you can purchase the city from the Corbournne nation otherwise I have little say on it. Niether Futuris or Corbournne would be happy to see a Carloginian ship landing in Italy."
Honako
30-06-2007, 11:17
"We have no desire to purchase Venice off Corbournne, we will have to turn our attention back to Asia I suppose." She was disappointed to say the least. Asia was poor, Cambodia for example could be invaded, but there was no reason, and the added population and little wealth would be a burden. She knew the King would get his European protectorate somehow; he had always wanted a Budapest, a London or Paris as his own. Obviously, some would be easier to get than others.

"We will look into other cities we desire to make our European protectorate I'm sure, James."

"Do you have any last questions? If not...shall we put this alliance into documents. I trust you have read up on the Duska Treaty, and we desire something very much similar with you. However, many of the countries who signed that seem distant to us - we will work on that - but with you being such a close neighbour, we would love to see more co-operation, and would especially like to be informed before you go to war again."
