Akbhul, the capitol of Kergalistan, 0900
Giant columns of smoke drift up into the clouds from all over the city as the government forces put up a desperate fight against the rebel troops that were now in control of large portions of the city. Already thousands have perished in the conflict as it neared its second week. With his capital city now in danger of falling, President Abdul Mohammed Tareeq sent out a desperate plea to the only nations e thought capable of helping them put down the rebellion and would not seek his land in return. A message was soon sent out to the nations that made up the GASN.
"To any nation willing to assist us:
A few weeks ago, forces calling themselves 'The Army of the Cross' rose up in the western province of Baraj, and in only a few days the managed to overthrow government forces in the area. They are extremely well equipped, and in most cases are better equipped and apparently better trained than our own forces. They are most likely being supplied by an outside force, but the only evidence of this other than the equipment and skill of their forces is unconfirmed reports of black VTOL gunships assaulting government positions in Baraj. Please, the people of Kergalistan beg of you to send forces to end this before we fall to the hands of the enemy"
Meanwhile, within the TAC stronghold of Baraj, Griffincrest mercenaries went about with their tasks. Training a rag tag Christian militia and turning them into a force capable of overthrowing the current Islamic government, supported by a large number of radical Muslims, was not an easy task.
The Commander of the Griffincrest Internal Security Forces, Reinhardt Hydraplate, had arrived late the night before, but he was still given a heroes welcome. He brought with him plans, plans from the Confederacy to eliminate the Muslim majority of Kergalistan and emplace the Christian minority in power, and with them would come contracts to the vast oil fields of the nation.
Already, in locations throughout Baraj, camps were set up. These camps would be the last place a number of Kergalis would ever see, as members of the TAC were routinely driving throughout the countryside, attacking villages and taking the strongest away to work on the oil fields. The rest would be sent to the camps, were they would wither away and die, forced to work until they no longer were able to.

Czar Ptolemy leaned back into the padding of his ornate, antique couch. The early morning sun had just begun to creep over the summits of the distant mountains, casting a soothing beam of light through the windows of the Imperial Palace. He sipped his latte carefully as he read over the morning newspaper. Local news aside, one international story caught his eye. The headline read: "Civil War in Kergalistan leaves thousands dead, government requests foreign aid."
The Czar was about to begin reading the article when Marius Cato, a prestigious senator, entered the throne room.
"What is this about?" the Czar folded his newspaper, not having been able to read the story. He had not been expecting visitors this early in the morning.
"We received a message from the government of Kergalistan. They are requesting foreign assistance during their civil war."
The Czar smiled and held up his newspaper. "I know, I was just about to read the article."
"Given our oath to the former GASN, I feel it would be appropriate if we helped protect this country's sovereignty." Marius stood before the Czar, almost staring him down.
The Czar did not acknowledge the senator's stare. "And of what importance is Kergalistan to us? Do they have resources? Can they pay us? We may have offered our services freely when we were a member of GASN, but times have changed. We are no longer bound by charter to protect the innocent." his statements carried an air of indifference by tone.
"The senate disagrees. We feel it is our moral obligation to help. Though the GASN charter no longer dictates our policies, we wish to continue to strive for its underlying purpose."
The Czar took a sip from his latte and returned to his newspaper.
"M'lord." Marius begged, finally giving in to what the Czar wanted- recognizing his authority.
"That's better." the Czar stood and approached Marius. "If the senate approves it, I'll send peacekeepers to the region. Acceptable?"
"Yes, m'lord." Marius turned to leave, then faced the Czar and bowed. "Thank you, m'lord."
The Corinthian senate voted 72-28 in favor of deploying peace-keepers to Kergalistan. A force was undergoing mobilization consisting of three legions, about 15,000 men strong. This was an early force estimation, with more men able to be mobilized at any time.
A message was sent to the government of Kergalistan:
Per order of the Senate of West Corinthia, peace-keeping operations in Kergalistan have been approved. We are willing to send three legions of infantry and armor to Kergalistan to help defend the sovereignty of your nation. Please give us the coordinates of a safe landing zone where we can establish a base of operations. If there are areas purely under hostile control, please give us the coordinates so we may place strategic ordinance upon them. We'll deploy once our force is mobilized.

President Tareeq was delighted as he learned of the West Corinthian government's pledge to send over peace keepers to help put down the rebels.
"Dear Czar Ptolemy,
Words cannot express the gratitude I am feeling for the soldiers you have pledged to our cause. We currently have two airbases still operational, one just outside of Islamaila in the east, and the other here in the capital. Feel free to us these as if the are own
Sincerely,
President Abdul Mohammed Tareeq"

Czar Ptolemy had been summoned to the Curia to hear a senate oration regarding the Kergalistan situation. He sat on a marble throne, overlooking the benches of senators beneath him. Knowing how things in the Corinthian senate worked, he leaned back into his seat to find a comfortable position. He was in for the long haul.
The senators, along with several Corinthian generals, began by showing satellite images of Kergalistan. Violence was evident due to the rising pillars of smoke emanating from most of the country's cities. However, there was another interesting development. The satellites showed what appeared to be forced labor camps guarded by militia.
The Czar stopped the presentation momentarily to ask a question. "Who are the rebels we will be dealing with exactly?"
General Marius stepped forward to answer the Czar's question. "Christian militia belonging to the so-called 'Army of the Cross.' We don't know much about them, but they are better armed than the government's own forces. That is- despite being a minority."
"Oh, gods." The Czar rolled his eyes and slouched back into his chair. "Christians...oh, please continue your presentation." This reaction was typical of any West Corinthian. West Corinthia had once been a part of the ancient Roman Empire, however seceded when the Emperor Constantine adopted the Christian faith. The Corinthians chose to continue honoring the old gods and old ways. When the Empire fell, most Corinthians blamed Christianity, and they had looked upon it with contempt ever since.
General Marius continued the presentation. "Kergalistan also has a number of active oil fields. They are of no use to us domestically, what with the alternative energy act, but could be the target of a foreign power potentially."
The Czar interrupted once more. "Are you suggesting a foreign power is supporting this rebellion?"
"That would be a logical conclusion." General Marius answered. "The rebels are surprisingly well-equipped and trained given their manpower. It would have been difficult for them to gain such an advantage over the existing government on their own."
"Very well, we must be cautious then." the Czar responded, half-talking to himself.
Meanwhile, three legions of peacekeepers were prepared to depart West Corinthian airspace. Another two legions were on reserve, with another three being mobilized. With the possibility of a foreign nation involved, all possible precautions would be taken. As of yet, no Corinthians had departed for Kergalistan.
The West Corinthian government also attempted to contact several of her allies, asking if they were willing to assist.

Reinhardt paced up and down the tiny corridor that the TAC men had called a command center, looking over several images pinned up on a small white board on the right hand wall. Griffincrest satelites had begun to pick up signs that forces in West Corinthia had responded to the call, and were also beginning to organize their forces. Intercepted messages from the Kergali government confirmed this.
There was only a handful of places that the peacekeepers would be able to land, and these already scarce commodities were all the more rare for an enemy of the TAC. With the capital city under siege, it would not be very difficult to get a half dozen or so men around the airport and have them hide out in the ruined buildings, Stinger missiles at the ready. If an enemy plane tried to land here, they would have an unexpected surprise on their hands.
