The room was a hush of journalists all talking about this Press Conference and the fact that Princess City was a smouldering wreck the Vetakan Population wanted blood and they where going to get it. Around the room where Vetakan Guardsman gleaming in perfect cerimonial dress eventually the double doors opened and flanked by her Razgrix Bodyguards a Pregnant Women climbed the stage and took up position behind the Podium and in front of the Flag of the Free Dominion her blonde hair in her face she blew it back looked at the Crowd of gathered journalists and began:

"Good Evening and Thank You for coming I have called this Conference today to formally announce the decleration of War by the Free Dominion of Vetaka against the nation The Empire of The Fighting Stars for the unprovked Nuclear Attack and the total Devastation of Princess City. A City of Peace, Culture and Enjoyment. A City destroyed before its Prime. The Free Dominion of Vetaka is a nation of Freedom and Honour above all we are a Peaceful Nation however you have officially tempted us to far and now you will pay. I as leader of this nation will not accept anything less than the Unconditional Surrender of the The Fighting Stars Government. I make this clear to any nation that sides with The Fighting Stars you will suffer the same fate as these murderous Dogs. Thank You and That is all I have to Say the Matter"

Leaving the room she was met by a torrent of questions from the various journalists shrugging it off she left the room and took the short Helicopter Ride to the VDF Central Command where she would personally Command this Operation.

"We are moving our Rapid Response Strike Group to the Region along with the 3rd Battlegroup and we are also moving to deploy the Vanguard Nuclear Subs to the Region should we be forced to destroy nation. OBSAT Space Command has begun moving Thor Weapon Platforms into the Region and our Long Range Strike Bombers are inbound to the Enemy What are the Targets?"

"The nation wants blood the Senate has already pre approved War target the Capital and all Military Installations"

"Yes Ma'am" came a string of replies.

Airbases Across Vetaka:

After the attack the Vetakan Defence Forces where on high alert and thus all assets had been mobilized ready for a response and boy was that response was coming from bunkers deep within the Earth came massive B-75 Shadowcasters and Huge Type 1000 Bombers loaded with munitions they roared down the runway and asended high into the sky the War that would spell the destruction of The Fighting Stars had begun.

Fuhrer Richtoff had already offered aid to the Vetakans. But this announcement suprised him. Would Vetaka, the founder of a pro-human rights alliance, dare strike against civilians? If so, what would the fallout be? He himself had nearly engaged in poor acts, such as the rape of Hataria. This might give me a chance to leave the alliance without negative connotations. Then perhaps we could form a closed alliance, one with stronger bonds than before. Perhaps this is for the best.

With the recent actions declared by Vetaka, we can not put trust into the fact that they will be able to remain in UFAN, as it is a human rights alliance. If one member nation proposes that a new nation be added, then we will run it by the other members for approval. "All right. Twenty Years of research and untold millions of dollars. Lets see what you can do." The floor of the bunker was covered with a legion of men sitting in front of computers. At their flanks was a sea of servers, each filled with the newly developed qubit--the quantum binary digit, able to register a 0 and 1 simultaneously, infintessimally increasing their computing capabilities. A soldier in uniform said to a small, pale man in a suit. "The program just compiled. When shall it begin?"

The men at the computers began furiously typing as the servers clicked to life. In under a minute, a Class F brute force attack was occuring on every single financial, communications, governmental, and infrastructual institution. The sheer volume of the attack would consume much of the practical bandwidth, clogging the networks and preventing those who wished to use any of the above facilities. Denial of service attacks were launched on governmental communications networks, and anything that buckled would be promptly entered. Any financial record accessed would be erased.

In addition, any computer with a modem that could be accessed would soon begin dialing the numbers of every known governmental office or major communications or banking institution.

Of course, the only way this attack could be stopped was to completely shut down all externally linked internet and phone service. In a few words, if they valued their data at all, they would need to shut down all means of communicating it.

Private highways were temporarily requisitioned for use by the military. Air and space defenses were installed, and reservists said goodbye to their families as they prepared for war.

Space Above The Fighting Stars
Although beaten to the punch by their Vetakan allies, Wagdog wasn't going to lag behind for too long. In addition to OBSAT Mk.II communications, offense/defense, targeting and other satellites, Wagdog's own godrod satellites, ABM missile and laser satellites, and control sats all moved in small numbers to position themselves over The Fighting Stars. Enough to send a message and/or provide strong capabilities, but not so many as to render homeland security iffy. After all, in the grand scheme The Fighting Stars' were a virtual nonentity; and there was no sense in acting otherwise.

Orbital Platform, Vetalian Space

The newly constructed Orbital Defense Platform served as the defensive and communications nexus of the Vetalian civilian and military space industry. A spaceport as well as a defensive platform, it boasted the kind of space defenses that the country lacked during the war against The PeoplesFreedom and gave Vetalia an important edge against space-based weaponry.

The Manthian Strategic Rocket Command had been planning to decommission its old Peacekeeper missiles for years, even before Vetalian-built missiles had taken over the main role of strategic nuclear deterrent. However, due to a combination of factors including the nuclear attack north of Alexandria and ultimately unfounded fears surrounding the recently concluded Hatarian conflict, the decommissioning had never been carried out - and luckily so, as chance would have it.

Today, the missiles finally would see the use for which they had been designed, in defense of an ally against a nuclear attack. No warning is given, and no official statement is released; in nuclear war, such thins only serve to give the opponent time to retaliate. The only indication of attack is 173 missiles descending towards major enemy cities, military installations and locations identified as the launch sites of the previous Fighting Stars missile strike. Each missile will separate in midflight and fall back to earth as ten MIRVs, leading to a total of over 1700 475-kiloton nuclear warheads raining down upon the doomed nation.

Even most of the Manthian government has not learned either of the strike against Vetaka or of New Manth's retaliation when the first missiles burst into the sky. A quick warning to Manth's COMECON-SD allies, including Vetaka and Wagdog, follows the launch by a few minutes, in order to make sure no friendly aircraft are still loitering over the country when the missiles fall.

The Fighting Stars has already suffered Military Strikes via the Vetakan Defence Forces and these will continue to occur if The Fighting Stars refuses to accept these demand I make no secrets Vetakan Military Invasion Forces have been deployed and if these demands are not met Vetaka will invade The Fighting Stars to formally remove this Threat to Vetaka and to the World.

The Free Dominion of Vetaka will accept any and all support from its Allies around the World in this situation. Fort Independence, TFS, 2 hours after nuclear attack on Veteka
The base was fairly busy more so than the usual activity at FI as it was called amongst the base soldiers; FI was home to usually around 8000 Army Personnel; armoured Vehicles and air and navel forces. On the Tarmac B-1 Lancers were being loaded with 20,000lb Fuel Air Munitions and B-52's were loaded with 2000lb JDAMS and Cruise Missiles. Live ordinance being wheeled out from the Ammo Dump.

"Come On Fred; gotta get these birds loaded" a man in Army Support uniform said to his friend Fred equally dressed.

"Alright; alright" he said; "Keep your knickers on Barney", Fred Replied. A man in a sergeant's uniform rolled out onto the tarmac in a jeep.

"Flintstone, Rubble!" the man yelled as he put his Army Cavalry hat on; "ETA on when these birds will be loaded?"

"Sir, 20 minutes SIR!" the two sounded off; "Thirty Six B-1's and Thirty Six B-52's will be loaded up in 20 SIR" Flintstone replied quickly

"Good; The bomber crews are getting itchy trigger fingers!" the sergeant replied and got back in his jeep on another runway they could see F-22B King Raptors and F-15E Strike Eagles start to taxi up to take off. The sleek fighters looking like they were armed up for Air Superiority and the more rugged Air to Ground roles respectively two hundred and ten F22B's and another two hundred and ten F-15E's would be taking off soon closely followed by seventy two A-10 Thunderbolt II Tank Killers.

Meanwhile in Space above TFS Animarnia Ion Cannon Satellites and Tungsten God Rod Kinetic Kill Satellites started to pick their targets. Staying away from the civilian areas for now. The Tungsten rods would be targeting large military complexes. Radar Arrays and, Railway stations, Major Airbases and Motorways not to mention Naval Facilities and War factories where the Ion Cannons would target Bridges and bases inside populated areas were Precision bombardment was required to avoid collateral damage. With a single command Tungsten rods started to rain down on there pre-described targets hitting with enough force to wipe out a city block while Blue columns of light started to descend light lightning bolts for space vaporising anything caught in there deadly shots. Each shot given enough power to wipe out its target but nothing more after there initial shots the Iron cannons would need 30 minutes to recharge there power cells before they could fire again.

At Ford Independence MH-1 Annihilator Self propelled Artillery started to open fire on nearby targets twenty four units firing twelve 177mm rounds a minute while Wolverine Rocket Artillery started shelling targets up to 30 kilometres away with a deadly rain of steel. While Older and outdated T1 Patriots and M1A3 Tanks started to push out of the base and take high ground hoping to secure an area for there Vetekan brothers to land as aircraft started to take off and go to there areas of operation…

As a result two hours ago my government officially Began Military operations against The Fighting Stars.

Effective immediately we are invoking full punitive Economic Sanctions against the Fighting Stars and call for the world to do the same. All TFS assets and accounts and transactions in our banks will be frozen, all trade and any arms deals will be suspended and I have Ordered a round of Military Air Sorties and Orbital Bombardment effective until such time the TFS terrorist government is removed from office"

The Room went wild with noise and questions as cameras flashed to take pictures but Rene walked off without answering any questions or making any further comment.

Opulens Bay Military Base, The Fighting Stars

Until today this base had been a sleepy little outpost that supported the activities of Aurum Doman businessman in TFS. Now it was on high alert. Ever since the strike on Aurum Domus' closest ally Vetaka by TFS the base had been preparing for war. Every soldier was armed and the entire base was locked down and heavily protected by gun emplacements. Fighter jets patrolled the airspace around the base and satellites hooked into OBSAT relayed info to the base.

Several thousand Marines and a Battle Fleet were due to arrive in a few days but after retaliation by several nations leveled most of TFS' infrastructure it looked as if they wouldn't be needed.

Early today, our greatest ally, The Free Dominion of Vetaka, were the victim of an unprovoked attack with a nuclear weapon on one of their most treasured cities by The Fighting Stars. Military action will be taken upon them as soon as possible.

The Tungsten Oribital Thor Weapons Platforms had achieved their new Orbits hours ago and had locked up various targets around The Fighting Stars besides the initial Capital Drop all of Vetakan Thor Weapons where locked on to various Military Installations the main aim of this Attack was to destroy what little Air Force The Fighting Stars had by primariliy destroying its Airbases and Runways. Along with Vetakan B-75 Shadowcasters and Type 1000 Bombers thousands if not millions of munitions where being dropped onto The Fighting Stars Military Forces the Long Range Strike Capacity Arm of the Vetakan Air Defence Force was running constant 24/7 Sorties to bombard The Fighting Stars although all possible care was being taken to avoid Civilian Casualties Vetaka knew however that Civilian Deaths where inevitable.

Vetakan Retaliation Begins, Freedom Strikes Back

With the totally unprovoked Nuclear attack by the nation of the Fighting Stars and the total loss of Princess City the Vetakan Retaliation has been swift President Rogers spoke of a possible Nuclear Response but later changed that stance stating that "Vetaka will not lower itself to that level" as a result it has become clear that an Invasion is now the only option interestingly several military analysts have already raised the question "If the Vetakan Nation maintains a Nuclear Deterrant but chooses not to use it after a Nuclear Attack what is the point in it?" The Government has yet to comment on that point in favour of rallying the nation to a Military Response.

The Vetakan Defence Force main deployments have been the Rapid Response Strike Attack Group of some 200 Ships and 50,000 Troops and the 3rd Battlegroup of some 300 ships and the 3rd Army of 250,000 Troops.

Military Bases Across Wagdog
Colonel Nicholas Denston, CO for I Bomb Wing, was relieved to be touching down @ his bomber base in the Tailville DR AFB complex. For hours, his one-hundred Tu-160M Blackjack-Bs been in a holding pattern with an equal number of FA-15D Cardinals and fifty Il-78M Midas tankers; each bomber with live nuclear warheads by the bushel in their bellies, ready to 'unleash Hell' upon at least The Fighting Stars' military bases should any so Romanesque order come down. Making final approach though, remembering the sight of at least two other Wings from other bases in the country taking off for TFS territory on what were already rumored to be conventional missions, Col. Denston sighed quite a bit of momentary relief. For now, we've stepped back from that precipice. But for how long?

Hopefully that question would remain unanswered; hopefully, The Fighting Stars would see sense and fight this war out like honorable soldiers defending their own homes without need for such things as nuclear bombs. But then again, what was to be unleashed upon them soon could be considered about as disruptive as a nuclear attack, at least in terms of it's intended effect on TFS military capabilities. Regardless, they're sure going to rue what they pulled now... That thought echoed through Col. Denston's mind as he, his subordinate officers and his ground crew began maintenance on his bomber so it could be kept ready for any future sortie. As with the other bombers in his Wing, the logistical machine of the Wagdian Red Army Air Force was in humming run as it either armed and fueled outbound aircraft for their missions or else repaired returning craft in preparation to do so.

And in preparation for the campaign, the Red Army proper was readying to deploy into whatever invasion head the Marines could secure first. The precise deployment would need to wait for word of what conventional forces The Fighting Stars would have left after the current round of strikes, and still more so for the Marines to seize the air and sea ports needed to supply any invasion. But nonetheless, the orders were being drafted and the units involved would be notified soon. Nothing, short of a very abject and complete surrender on the enemy's part, was going to stop this assault now...

Approaching The Fighting Stars' waters...
Admiral Opalclaw watched as the seas parted way for her Fleets, she also having command of Third Fleet under the elven Admiral Ta'aren Forthrion, one of the heroes of the Stratorian campaign from seemingly so long ago. Her resolve grown, and herself grown more comfortable once word of the Vetakans' relenting on the use of nuclear ordnance for now, she was now steadily ordering the fleet about its all too deadly serious business at hand.

"Order full BARCAPs by Cardinals out to maximum combat radius; air-air loadout, balanced for both bomber and fighter interceptions. Once we're within full coverage of TFS territory, switch to MiGCAP and hunt the bastards down in their own skies!" All this to the Commander, Air Group or CAG, Opalclaw also noted, "And remind your crew chiefs to prep all attack planes' ordnance for supporting the landings just as soon as we're within range and coastal defenses have been suppressed; as well as keeping all our 'specials' secured just in case." Even if her fighters would soon be rotating takeoffs and landings for mostly air-to-air duty, one shouldn't neglect the possibility of strike duty all the same; whatever munitions involved.

The Admiral's orders being quite tall, and also quite elementary in true Clausewitian fashion, the CAG for the UWS Comandante Guevara Commodore David Venstling simply assented and went off without an audible word. She's a nice one, even if crazy with all this taskmastery. Ah well, that's the Navy; and I'll be damned if I chicken out after making Flag rank! As he walked off to relay her bidding to the enlisted Marine aircrew chiefs, within the carriers' well decks the twenty-four thousand Marines assembled for this operation steadily began arming up and checking their gear; since they'd be going in just as soon as the first round of orbital and conventional strategic strikes died down and Vetaka designated an attack point. Their gear secured, they'd settle down for that most precious of commodities to any soldier of any nationality: a few hours' well-earned sleep. After all, who knew when they'd ever get the chance again; war being war after all?

Space Above The Fighting Stars
With the Vetakan strike already inbound, the time had come. Four Wagdian Thor-class godrod platforms began loosing their own deadly 305mm kinetic darts at those unfortunate Fighting Stars' naval facilities marked for destruction at present. Vetaka seemed to have the enemy air force covered, and the enemy Army was soon to be on the receiving end of some of Wagdog's own bomber-borne attention, so hence there was no reason to hold back aside from concern about maintaining an ammunition reserve against any time-critical targets that might need a godrod dropped on them.

Meanwhile, an equal number of Cyclops chemical laser satellites stood watch over enemy space in preparation for the off-contingency that The Fighting Stars might still have some nukes left to throw Vetaka and/or Wagdog's way needing a boost-phase interception; as did the same proportion of ABM missile satellites for early-midcourse work. Given the intensity of the TFS bombardment prior to the initial Allanean interception, it was doubtful that the enemy had any nukes left; but not impossible all the same. Hence, these twelve satellites and the two each Zeus C2 and Vanguard early-warning sats to rule them all stood watch; waiting for a battle they'd hopefully not have to fight beyond the Thors' actions already...

Strategic Air Command

By order of the Praetor of Vetalia, all Strategic Rocket Forces sites are now mobilized to DEFCON 2. They are primed for launch and targeted at sites in The Fighting Stars. If necessary, we will upgrade the situation to DEFCON 1 and will commence firing at targets within the country.

This includes all missiles stationed in foreign territory, effective immediately.

Vetalian Expeditionary Force

The 2 SEACOM fleets, boasting 420 ships, and the nearly 200,000 soldiers of the Vetalian Expeditionary Force were on the move from Vetalia towards The Fighting Stars. They would remain at a safe distance until the Strategic Rocket Forces had made the decision to launch missiles or not, and then commence their attack along with the other allies involved in the joint strike. Their forces would be in place within the week, all things equal, and would begin deployment at that time.

The Night of the Blitz

The Animarnian Artillery continued to rain down 177mm HE shells on the enemy positions; hundreds of them the booms of the guns deafening like a monstrous thunder playing out across the landscape of TFS. The very earth trembled in fear as sixty-four Wolverine MRLS units each unloaded sixteen Guided 300mm rockets like a Rain of Steel up to 30kms away. Ground tremors thundered out as columns of T1 Patriot and M1A3 tanks Rolled out onto the planes backed by Warrior IFV's and 6000 Animarnian Infantry with HumVees on the flanks. Soon the 8th Army Regiment would come in force then the fun would really begin.

B-1B's started to take off with F22B Escorts for bombing sorties joining their Vetekan counterparts; the B-1's carrying 16,000lb Fuel Air Weapons dropped from high Altitude while B-52's dropped hundreds of 2000lb JDAM's on targets as F-15E fighters swooped down on targets to annihilate them with a deadly rain of Air to ground missiles.

The first of the medical supplies and men were en-route via sea, 10 cargo ships under escort of the Fleet Carrier SS Nova, the Dreadnaught Destroyer SS Abomidable, and two California Class Cruisers SS Siren, and SS Harpy. The aid being sent totaled to nearly 400 tons of supplies and 300 personell with enough vehicles to transport them around.
