The Prime Minister's Speech (Introduction)

The streets of the city of New Rome were filled with citizens seeing their newly elected Prime Minister, Titus Britannicus, standing at the balcony of the Ministerial Palace. Behind him were two Praetorians, the elite soldiers who guarded the Prime Minister.

Titus looked at the masses below him and smiled for a bit, as he remembered his responsibilities as Prime Minister. His secretary read over the speech one last time before handing it to Titus, who thanked her and then proceeded to read his speech in the nation's national language, which was Latin.

"Civitas , pro annus praevius habenae has deficio in committing ipsum ut responsible habenae tamen hodie suscipio a novus tempus! A novus tempus quibus Populus Secui , quisnam vos have nuper desumo , mos operor quis is can ut subsequens is populus est tutis quod ut is est validus fortuno quod niteo. Memor vos have cruor of Ancients Greco - Romanorum ) in vos , memor suum res quod praemium , quod nos mos planto is populus prospicio amo Rome quod Cupiditas , acsi nos operor non partum an empire amo Caesars. Hodie , EGO scisco vos laboro una. pro a melior populus! "

In English:
"Citizens, for years the previous government has failed in committing itself to responsible government but today begins a new era! A new era in which the National Party, who you have recently elected, will do what it can to ensure this nation is protected and that it is able to prosper and flourish. Remember you have the blood of Ancients (Greco-Roman) in you, remember their deeds and exploits, and we will make this nation prosper like Rome and Greece, even if we do not create an empire like the Caesars. Today, I ask you to work together...for a better nation!"

============================
The Foreign Ministry was staffed by hard working diplomats and politicians who had the job of managing diplomatic relations between the "New Roman Nation" and the other nations of the world. Its leader, Claudius Norbanus was a hard working politician who had worked in politics for a couple of years.

In his office, Claudius went through his usual task, the reading of reports, it was something many in his position do, sift through reports to find any useful and important information. However, a new report came in today, from the Prime Minister himself, asking for a letter to be sent to all nations, telling them that the nation was open to diplomacy.

Claudius read through this report and then went to his employees, telling them to write a letter to be sent to the nations of the world, telling them that the "New Roman Nation" was open to diplomacy.

They drew up this letter, written in Latin and later other languages:

"porta of Novus Romanorum Populus es patefacio , non iustus ut Tornacense , tamen ut diplomat. Nos tendo manus manus of diplomacy ut ullus populus quisnam mos take habitum of is , nos es publicus parcus political quod bellicus consortio , verto of legatio ita continuo. Si vos es interested , operor non hesistate ut contactus us."

In English:
"The gates of the New Roman Nation are opened, not just to the tourist, but to the diplomat. We extend the hand of diplomacy to any nation who will take hold of it, we are open to economic, political and military partnerships, the exchanging of embassies and so forth. If you are interested, do not hesistate to contact us."

The letter was edited for any errors in grammar and spelling and then sent to the various nations of the world, hopefully some would be inclined to accepting.

His Majesty's Government welcomes the New Roman Nation to the world, and in the spirit of friendship would like to accept your offer of diplomacy through the dispatch of a charge d'affaires as well as liaisons for both commercial and military affairs. In time, treaties and accords establishing embassies in both nations may be negotiated and at such time we hope to begin to fully reap the fruit of what I do indeed hope we begin to sow starting this day.

Our government is pleased to open diplomatic relations with the nation of Oceania, and is glad to commence the exchanging of ambassadors as well negotiating possible commercial and military partnerships. Indeed, we hope that the fruit we reap is ripe and good to eat, not spoiled and rotten.

As a nation priding itself in its support of the free-market, His Majesty's Government has little direct control over private companies and their foreign capital investments; however, if your government would be willing to detail the relative strengths of the New Roman economy and the needs of your government as it strives to return to responsible government, the Oceanian Secretary of Trade and Industry could push Oceanian firms to direct their future investments towards New Rome through the opening, perhaps, of manufacturing plants as well as offering financial services and alike.

Additionally, in this world security is paramount for stability and thereby economic prosperity. Your mention of military partnerships leaves room for the development of bilateral military relations as well. Similarly, the United Kingdom would be ready to assist New Rome in the development of a security apparatus or armed forces best tailored to the defence of New Rome, should you request such assistance.

Towards the end of establishing embassies, there exists a property in the Diplomatic Quarters of our capital, Georgetown, and while limitations do exist for the stationing of armed personnel and materiel, we would welcome the dispatch of a New Roman ambassador at your earliest convenience. Later this week, Prime Minister Rodney Ingrahm will be submitting to His Majesty King George several nominees to represent the interests of His Majesty's Government in New Rome.

Sincerely,

Gavin Astley

The economy of our nation ("Nova Romania") is relatively reasonable with powerful industries like arms manufacturing. We would appreciate your nation taking actions to influence Oceanian firms in directing investments towards Nova Romania. As for the needs of our government, one of our needs would be the expansion of our diplomatic network.

Nova Romania has a stable military, but we would be open to military partnerships between our two nations, extending our diplomatic network not only to the economic and political areas, but the military one as well.

As for sending an ambassador, we are preparing one to be sent to your nation. We have also prepared a property that your ambassador may use as the Oceanian Embassy.

Hopefully, our two nations will be able to strengthen diplomatic relations and will be able to reap the fruits of our labor and be pleased with them.

Nison to Invest £224 Million in Nova Romania

Philadelphia, United Kingdom--Nison, the United Kingdom's leading consumer electronics firm, is to construct a £224 million ($448 million) components manufacturing plant in Nova Romania.

The plant will be built just outside the national capital, New Rome, and will employ 2,300 persons. With a thriving defence industry, Nova Romania offered Nison "qualified workers and an excellent in-place infrastructure," according to company spokespersons. When finished, the plant will be part of Nison's goal of expanding its international market base for lightweight, advanced consumer electronics from mp3 players to personal assistants and mobile phones.

The news comes on the heel of announcements by the United Kingdom's two financial services companies, Commonwealth Bank and Crowne Financial, that they are exploring the opportunities of investing in Nova Romania.

His Majesty's Government cannot speak for international organisations, and as such cannot put your government in direct contact with such institutions; however, it may be possible that, in time, the Foreign Office could communicate with its bilateral friends and allies about the economic possibilities offered by Nova Romania.

The United Kingdom is, by almost all accounts, a peaceful state and ensures such peace by maintaining a lethally efficient armed forces. If interested, both the Ministry of Defence and the Admiralty would be willing to draw up plans for joint-training exercises as well as officer exchange programmes. Should our nations ever find themselves in the undesirable situation of using force to defend our interests, a successful outcome can only come through prior rectification of inherent problems in communication and joint operations between our forces.

Perhaps in time, it may be possible even for Prime Minister Britannicus to fly to Georgetown and meet his Oceanian counterpart to cement our bilateral relations. Even if not anytime in the near future, I would still like to invite you, sir, to come visit me at the Foreign Office in Georgetown so we can meet in person and put pens to paper and finalise treaties for diplomatic relations and embassy exchanges.

Sincerely,

Gavin Astley
