The Grand Empire of Easy Prom Dates.
Formed originaly sometime in the mid 1200's A.D. The original founders of this nation were some 300 stranded Japanise warriors, sailors, and retainers. Shipwrecked after thier craft was swept away in an intense storm at sea.
Some one hundred and fifty years passed. The Survivors exisited through a pattern of subduing small native tribes and making peace with larger, more dominant tribes. In time, Almost all native tribes were in service to the decendants of the lost ronin. In 1523, a ship carrying a group of explorers came ashore Twelve miles north of the current E.P.D. capital of New Kyoto. The first contact was a bloody one. The explorers had come with guns...
Seven years of war followed. The explorers, made up of mostly Irish and English. Allied themselves with fringe tribes, and fought a mostly hit and run war with the forces of Shogun Tomi Gozen. The explorers ship. The Maria Rose. Was burnt and sunk in the first days of battle. The explorers fled to the jungles. Eventuly setting down roots in the Southeastern mountains (near the current city of Lymric's Roost.) Finding their position to be one of safety. These newcomers set up shop. Scratch building a forge and useing the local population as labor. They began to mine and produce weapons and armor. Training some locals in the arts of war as they knew them.
The war ended in 1530 with a truce signed by the son of Tomi Gozen, Taku Gozen, And Sean Matterson. Tomi Gozen had died of sickness the year before. His son Taku, desired the westerners knowledge of firearms and seeing the folly of ongoing attacks into dense jungle enviroments. Sought, and won, a lasting peace between the two factions.
And so began the golden age. Over the course of centurys. A strange mix of east/west hybred culture developed. Always aware of the dangers of the outside world. The early E.P.D. kept and maintained a policy of isolation. Having few trade partners outside of the nation. Many a ship passed by into E.P.D. waters, never too be seen again. And thus. The people of the E.P.D. stayed current for the most part with the evolution of technology. Taking the items they "found" and retrofitting them. Indeed, at times improving then current designs above and beyond their original designs.
In 1758. A blood decendant of Sean Matterson, John Matterson married the great-great grand daughter of Taku Gozen, Yuko Gozen. From that day until now. The Empire is ruled by the Matterson clan. Her Majestic Magisty Dagny Matterson being the most recent to rise to the Jade Throne.
