The Leader's Plan

The Japanese Reich
17-06-2007, 03:39
AP-After much consideration, the new leader of the Japanese Reich has been chosen today in Tokyo. Shiro Tatsumi will be officially sworn in as the next leader of our nation in Tokyo. More information will be given to you as this story develops.

-----------------
Shiro Tatsumi sat in his office, reading various reports about the status of the nation. As the new leader, he had a responsibility to make sure everything ran smoothly. As he continued to read the reports, Kantaro Yamamoto, one of his Cabinet ministers came in his office.

"Sir, the soldiers are ready to begin the operation." Kantaro said calmly to Shiro, handing him a report about this "operation".

Shiro smiled as he read the report. Putting it down on the desk, Shiro replied: "You shall destroy the Communists, who are nothing more than hypocrites. Begin the operation."

Kantaro nodded and left the office, to tell the soldiers to begin the operation.....

--------------------
Kenji was a active Trotskyist who ran a Communist newspaper in the area. He was writing an article when, out of nowhere, several armed soldiers came into the room.

"What the....." he said before his head was bashed in by a baseball bat. The man holding the bat beat him brutally while the others destroyed the room, tearing papers apart and destroying the printing press.

They took Kenji, stuffed him into a van and drove away, he was one of the first communists to be rounded up. Shiro Tatsumi's operation was officially now in action.

Greetings. The new policies of your nation have recently come to our attention. While we applaud your effective anti-communism, we must warn you to be cautious in such matters, not only to protect the rights of your general population but also to avoid entanglements with those who do not understand the meaning of sovereignty.

On a cheerier note, would you like to establish trade relations with the Empire?

OOC: Okay. For the future, it is usually good to label secret things "SIC" or "Secret In Character" so that it is very clear.
Please disregard that last post.

Hundreds of communists were rounded up by the police, as the operation's objective was to "root them out like weeds". They were sent to detention centers and interrogated. The children of communist parents were sent to foster homes.

It was illegal to be communist, and foreigners who were communists were not arrested but simply deported to their home nation. The government also decided to decline pursuing diplomatic relations with communist nations, saying such things would not happen.

Shiro Tatsumi was pleased with the successes of the operation and decided to keep it going, in the hopes that the communists could be disposed of. The operation showed no signs of stopping in its tracks.

Sir, I am His Supreme Majesty, King Cameron Drude I of the Confederacy of Camkiya. I know you have tried to keep you operation private, but evidently somethign has linked. The strongly Communist group, D4E, in my nation knows. I have dispatched heavy military forces to restrain them. I am just warning you that there might be attacks on your nation.

SIC:

Shiro Tatsumi read through reports about the operation's successes, but was interrupted by Kendaro Yamamoto, who came into his office during the afternoon.

"Sir, we have discovered a group of communists planning a protest for the next day." Kentaro told Shiro, who smiled and replied:

"You know what to do."

---------------
In the night, the protesters were making signs for the protest, not against the operation, but against other things. However, they were not going to be protesting at all.

A group of soldiers stormed the room and arrested them while destroying the signs, etc. The protesters were forced into the back of police vans and sent away. Some protesters were attacked with the ends of rifles or baseball bats if they resisted.

The government did not tell anyone in the public about the operation, it was at the moment, a secret operation.

"We should be arriving in about 20 minutes, so please place your tray tables in the upright position..."

Ian Waters snapped awake.

As he quickly stuffed his book and his notepad into his small carry on bag and ruffled his hair so it didn't stand up as much, the plane lurched as it lowered the gears and began its descent.

Ian, at a glance, appeared to be no older than 18, and judging by his perennial smile, not particularly bright. He was a short man with thin wire frame glasses he had constantly perched on his nose. His appearance, combined with his easy laugh and short stature readily concealed the fact that he was one of the fastest rising investigative reporters at the Siap Tribune.

His editor, who had many friends in intelligence, informed him a few days ago that many communists were leaving The Japanese Reich, and the Siap Tribune would be the first to find out why.

As the plane landed, he quickly filled out a customs card and took out his Siapian state ID, his passport and (just out of a hunch) voter registration card, indicating clearly that he was not a communist.

Hope they haven't banned journalists yet. he thought as came off the plane and into the customs line.

OOC: This does not mean the operation is in the public view, but it reveals that some in government are able to criticize communism.

A Japanese news anchor recently interviewed a government hardliner about the issue of communism, as rumors that the government was rooting them out were spreading amongst the citizens. The hardliner told the news anchor:

"Communists are hypocrites, just look at all these alleged communist nations and groups. Read the "Black Book of Communism" and read about the millions who perished, millions perished for the hypocrites, the hypocrites who said they would build a worker's utopia but built a worker's dystopia. Their dream was the people's nightmare."

He later said to the anchor:

"The Nazis recognized the flaws of Communism, despite their error in accusing the Jews of creating it. They recognized that if they did nothing to protect Germany from the Communists, they would open the gate for them to come right in and take control of Europe. And do you remember who was the leader of the Soviet Union at this time?"

He then said:

"Read the books of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and see for yourself how communist hypocrisy affected the lives of the Soviet people."

When asked about the rumors, he replied:

"Even if there was an operation designed to root them (communists) out like weeds, I would wholeheartedly support it."

The operation itself was not revealed to the public, but the dislike of some leaders in government for communism was revealed.

Greetings. The expressed stances of the leaders of your nation have recently come to our attention. While we absolutely applaud your most commendable anti-communism, we must warn you to be cautious in dealing with such matters, not only to protect the rights of your general population but also to avoid entanglements with those who do not understand the meaning of sovereignty.

On a cheerier note, would you like to establish trade relations with the Empire?

Greetings. We are cautious in dealing with such matters, because we do not know if our image in the world will be impacted by the expressed stances of some of our leaders in government. Perhaps the stances will come to the attention of other nations as well.

Also, we would be pleased to establish trade relations with your nation.

AP: The government hardliner that was interviewed recently, named Hiro Kuroda, has released his new book, "Against Communism", a book that is full of anti-communist thought and quotes from Bakunin, Kropotkin and others. The book has been sold in some book stores around Japan and may be avaliable in other nations. One of the memorable excerpts from the book is:

"I quote from Bakunin: "The question arises, if the proletariat is ruling, over whom will it rule? This means there will remain another proletariat which will be subordinated to this new domination, this new state."

We are glad to hear of your caution, as it may make matters easier.

Trade relations will be most profitable for us both; your decision demonstrates wisdom.
