Siriusan Stock Stops, Stumbles, and Slips!

Overnight in Siriusa, the stock market took a dip towards the record low. At midnight, it hit the lowest point in the history of this nation, including the brief recession suffered at the beginning of the last century. By midmorning however, the stock was less than half of the value of the record low. Economists are calling this a "financial freak of nature."

"Nobody could have predicted a slip-up like this," says Mark Coppenfaughen. "There was nothing going wrong the day before the crash, we have no idea how it happened. This was totally unpredictable, like an economic earthquake."

None yet can predict exactly what will happen to the economy, but many say, "It won't be good."

Once-Promising Uranium Industry Breaks Down, Millions Laid Off.

Following the fall of the Arms Manufacturing Industry, the second biggest and second most rewarding industry in Siriusa, the Uranium Mining Industry finally took the fall. In a matter of weeks, over a million people were laid off, putting thousands of families in jeopardy.

Despite efforts to cut costs, the National Uranium Corporation's (NAC) usual net surplus of millions of sorgs has turned into a net loss of billions. As layoffs continue, the gap between the classes has been ridiculously widening. Some are calling this a Depression, but we can only wait to see how bad it can get.

Depression Hits Nation, Poverty Skyrockets!

A little less than two months ago, the stock market in Siriusa crashed. Today, the government is officially calling this a Depression. Over this short period, nearly an eighth of the population has been laid off and the number of families living in poverty has increased by nearly 500%. The latest report on the exchange rate puts it at nearly fifteen sorgs per USD.

The government has taken no official stance on this yet, but the Prince has made it clear that welfare spending will be increased as well as funding for creating more jobs to stem the loss of money. The government has made no plea for help from foreign nations, but the general public expects that requests for aid will come soon, as well as help from the NEA.

We Buy It Incorporated moved in like vultures, buying out various Siriusan corporates, mostly those who were starting to struggle under the burdent of the recession, to add to their already impressive portfolio. The paid special attention to metal, oil, automotive, and arms industries, as well as the farmers, buying the land and letting the farmers stay for a cut of the profits.

Various We Buy It Incorporated companies began to set up shop, intent on employing the lower, and middle classes of the country with jobs ranging from arms manufacturing to more technologically advanced things like computers and various other research companies.

With every employee earning at least P$7 Pandora Gems [$14.23 USD] the recession would be over quickly, We Buy It Incorporated sponsored charities. Recover would be swift and only one company would be at the top.

Buy & Sell, Inc., and their rival Universal Goods and Services hit Siriusa like a hurricane, buying the crumbling businesses and bringing in immigrants from New Vantania to work in the new factories, warehouses, and stores.

The corporations were in it for the short term, trying to keep the Siriusan economy down to make as much profit as possible, thus brining in immigrants. Of course, they didn't have enough immigrants to man everything, from the lowest paying jobs up locals were hired.

They simply wanted to make as much profit in the short term, then cut when domestic corporations started rising again, leaving only core industries behind. New Vantania would profit from the misery of others, most likely not for the first time.

Dr. Mackenzie O'Dwyer read the news from Siriusa. She took her glasses off and rubbed her eyes. At 67, she had seen more then one nation succumb to depression and its citizens fall into chaos. In her teaching days, she'd used the old Fellesenian depression and how other nations had stepped in offering "help" and in actuality were hoping to make a quick profit.

She made a note to watch the situation and offer help when it was most needed. Her desk was covered in many more papers. Being head of Economic Control wasn't as easy as being a professor.

Weapson & Subsidieries, along with many less notable Errikan organizations, set up shop in Siriusa, buying up countless local industries and employing thousands and thousands of locals while bringing in Errikans to train them and fill some posts. Most would probably wind up staying, if allowed to do so by the Siriusan government.
Errikan investment was intended to be long-term, and would surely provide outstanding economic growth in Siriusa and a tidy profit for those involved.

The International Interspace and Undersea Salvage and Recycling Cooperative, began opening scrap yards giving money for old metal and recyclables which they shipped over seas. They also offered cash for old cars, boats, and machinery which they crushed for its metal content and recycled. They took over dumps and landfills, building landfill gasification plants, and recycling old plastic and glass which it sold to bottlers so they could make new bottles for milk and other liquids.

They bought old military surplus, government auction vehicles and foreclosed property and shipped it overseas or converted it to cheap cars and boats selling them cheaply, undercutting the new car lots and boat yards.

They also converted some of the heavier trucks and tanks into long haul trucks and farm equipment which they sold cheap to the local farms, making a small profit, just enough to keep many of the farms going.

They also bought old factories and tore them down for their building materials which they sold cheaply.

They also made sure they built their plants on bought up foreclosed land at auction so they would own the property in question.

On the side they built up a commercial property management company which helped restart many of the small manufacturing businesses in depressed areas. They would often take barter of manufactured goods for rent which they would resell overseas until the companies could get on their feet.

They offered cut rate cleaning, shredding, and garbage services for many companies. Part of this was a front for industrial espionage so they could gain a foothold in the new industries that were starting to come back and steal technology.

We at Commonwealth Bank have vested interest in maintaining the stability of the world's financial markets and to that end we are offering low, fixed rate loans to all qualifying Siriusan companies and consumers.

In addition we are dispatching agents to appraise and obtain buildings and property in danger of foreclosure and to acquire them, thus reimbursing the Siriusan lenders and eliminatind debt for the private citizen.

As aid flowed into Siriusa in the form of cash, charity, additional jobs, or loans, the economy's long downward spiral slowly began to level out. However, not all of the "aid" coming into Siriusa was benevolent, some of it was there merely to help certain nations' personal interests. The giant foreign megacorporations battling over Siriusa would present a problem for the nation if it wished to return to its previous economic strength.

With the opening left by the International Interspace and Undersea Salvage and Recycling Cooperative, the company began sponsoring the International Ownership Bank of Commonalitarianism to give loans for specific kinds of direct employee owned businesses, specifically cooperatives, syndicates, employee stock ownerships-- (ESOPS), and other forms of business which focused on direct ownership of companies by employees. They helped unions buy out failing companies so the unions owned the companies, and similar measures to bolster more direct ownership of companies. They tried to interfere in legislation to make it easier for employees to buy out firms. They were pushing part of the Commonalitarianism political agenda on economics. A we work it, we own it campaign was started.

As the Siriusan stock market takes a dip, Allanean companies storm into the breach.

Allanean Arms is the first – it buys out arms factories, electric power plants, and so forth wherever it can. As it needs thousands if not millions of workers, it buys up every plant it can. But they are not the only ones.

Liberty Networks is in, providing cheap Internet communications without the use of standard wire-based infrastructure.

The Mulligan banking company provides microcredits to millions.

And the Kazansky Heavy Industry company offers to rebuild and maintain infrastructure.

With the megacorporation Allanean Arms now in Siriusa and employing millions of the population, the unemployment rate drastically dropped. Additionally, the Allanean Mulligan Banking Company assisted Siriusa's feeble banks in helping the people recieve what money they needed and helped businesses on the verge of bankruptcy recover from the economic blows by the crippled Siriusan economy and the other businesses taking advantage of the nation's current status. The government has accepted the offer of the Kazansky Heavy Industry company and hopes that this will soon be over and done.

And so Allanean Arsm brought it's famous Developing Area Automobile to the area. These were cheap and not always safe vehicles, costing about $5000 each, but they were excellent if you were poor. The idea was both to sell them - the Allaneans hoped to sell at least a million every year - but also to reintroduce the locals to bourgeois consumerism and private automobiles.

The companies aligned with the International and Undersea Recycling and Salvage Cooperative and the International Ownership Bank of Commonalitarianism, formed a national organization called National Employee Ownership Organization aimed at providing education, advice, information, and political support. They established a trade show for starting and improving employee owned organizations where they offered a number of franchise type organizations, cafes, small restaurants, small manufacturing, local food cooperatives, community banks, boat and auto repair, cleaning services and similar things.

Various corporations around New Vantania, led by Buy & Sell Incorporated, demanded that many Siriusan corporations repay debts, a grand total of ten million Universal Standard Dollars.

With nearly 15 Sorgs to the USD, ten million dollars was a painful price for many Siriusan corporations to pay, one which pushed many struggling Siriusan businesses into bankruptcy. One more setback for Siriusa, damaging the progress that had been made in the previous months.

Seeing a future opportunity for mergers and acquisitions, the International Ownership Bank of Commonalitarianism, decided to offer Buy and Sell money to buy the indebted companies and restructure them as ESOPs-- Employee Stock Ownership Plan Companies.

Buy & Sell Incorporated swooped in like the Grim Reaper of Souls, Death itself to many a Siriusan corporation. The debt was collected where it could be, and where it couldn't Buy & Sell took over, firmly planting itself in the economy, trying to keep Siriusa down for as long as possible to make a profit.

Who says that informal imperialism was dead?

Seeing that Buy and Sell would not turn over failing companies to them so they could be restructured, Malthus Cruonis, NCEO of the International Ownership Bank of Commonalitarianism decided it was time to interfere. They would make a profit off them with lawsuits and legislation.

First they lobbied the congress of Siap for the right to open bidding for bankrupt companies using the National Employee Ownership Organization. They claimed a company that cannot manage the debt of their holdings should be turned over to the free market or another company that can manage it better.

They also attempted a dirty campaign of advertising showing abuses by Buy and Sell and encouraging a boycott of their businesses. They showed the National Employee Ownership Organization as wonderful happy camper employees ready to help the local community.

Buy and Sell was shown as incompetent minimum wage slobs attempting to extract every penny from them.

Malthus Cruonis, NCEO of the International Ownership Bank of Commonalitarianism is very happy with the offers to sell $10 million dollars worth of companies. He even offers to spin it in Business Today as a very excellent deal which will help reform Buy and Sell into a company for Siap.

The companies are restructured as ESOCs-- Employee Stock Option Companies, the employees vest over the years in ownership of the stock of the company, as well as share in any company profit. There is a period where they will be paying off a fixed rate loan to buy the company.

Secret: Also because Malthus Cruonis, is a dirty businessman in some ways, he uses some of the Siap companies to wash banking money coming in from the Commonalitarianism organized crime syndicates.

The World Soviet Party's donation of One Billion USD to the Siriusan government to help the small businesses survive was not only unexpected, but also rather unusual. At any rate, the government sent a note to the Soviet government assuring them that the money would only be used to pay off debts and not given to rich induviduals.

The numerous New Vanatian Buy & Sell Inc. factories springing up were doing little for Siriusa, and the people knew it. Hiring almost entirely foreign workers, it was fairly obvious that the corporation took interest in Siriusa as a possible economic venture rather than a moral cause.

Lines waiting outside of factories were common, as people hoped that they would be picked to be hired that day. Luck at finding jobs steadily improved as aid flowed in from other nations, but the New Vanatian factories still remained full of foreigners and empty of Siriusans in need of work.

Fed up with waiting, one day a crowd of nearly 500 strong rioted at the gates of the factory at opening time, armed with anything from baseball bats and clubs to assault rifles and other firearms (Gun control in Siriusa was normally loose, but the depression made enforcing what lax laws there were even more difficult). A schoolbus, seized by the rioters, was driven through the gates though which the rioters flowed to get revenge on the New Vanatian factory workers and bosses.

Three hours and over fifty dead rioters and officers later, the law enforcement finished cleaning up the mess. Something had to be done about the people, and something had to be done fast. With high tension in the air and the economy going nowhere quickly, people began to wonder if this would ever end.

The corporate armies that protected the factories made short work of the protesters, joined soon by Siriusan police officers. Enraged, the CEO of Buy & Sell Incorporated, Tucker Boot, levied lawsuits against the families of the deceased for the following things: Vandalism, Intent to Grievously Harm, Attempted Murder, Murder, Assault, etc. Often the lawsuits were of high amount, which would further damage the Siriusan economy.

Despite their Siriusan sympathies, the courts found virtually all of the Siriusan defendants guilty. The high cost of the hundreds of lawsuits pushed even more families deeper into debt, putting a greater strain on the banks. The progress previously made in Siriusa was slipping out of the government's fingers as chaos spread throughout the nation.

Five Cargo Planes containing several tons of food and supplies were landing in Siriusa while several well-disciplined troops and Soup Kitchen workers came out of the sturdy but comfortable Passenger airplane prepared to do their best to help the plightful people of Siriusa.

Soon there were several Soup Kitchen Stands set up through out the the country and the Capital. Most of them were hiring helpers for varying but decent wage for long hours. Unexpectedly there would be a long staggering line of hopeless people lining up which the Dragonicaleans were unprepared for.

Seeing more opportunity, the International Interspace and Undersea Recycling and Salvage Cooperative, opened several new factories, the first was a recycling factory to make paper from older materials, the second was a textile recycling factory, to make industrial cleaning cloths, recycle clothing, and export recycled cloth, the third was a thermal depolymerization plant to extract oil and chemicals from old plastics, the fourth was a large ship breaking yard to bring in ships from abroad and have them broken down so their parts could be used for metal, the fifth was a smelting factory to purify different metals which they had collected to sell in bulk, iron, aluminum, and steel. They expanded their glass factory and funded a soda company called Kookie Cola.

They hired locally and extended the workers an ESOP-- Employee Stock Option Plan which vested over six years give them a stake in the companies that were being built.

The landfills began to produce tonnage of biogas which they sold to the small manufactories they had funded by taking trade items to sell overseas. Numerous small factories began to appear in the commercially managed property which the company had acquired from foreclosure. Things like paints, toys, hardware, and basic goods poured out of them.

The cooperatives and small partnerships they started began to open in many neighborhoods providing affordable local fare in small restaurants and bakeries.

They invited in Cruon Commercial House, Registered Family Syndicate to operate in this country. Cruon opened a two factories to produce its alternative energy products and turbines, wind turbines, solar panels, gas turbines, distributed hydroelectric systems, wave turbines, multifuel turbine engines, and algae based biorefineries-- which produced bioplastics, biodiesel, and animal feed.

Buy & Sell Incorporated, satisfied with the influence it had over the industries, expanded it's influence to mining and agriculture, stomping out small family owned farms and mining companies. Also, satisfied that they could destroy the economy easily, Buy & Sell Incorporated threw out all of the foreigners in the factories, mines, and farms, bringing in Siriusans by the score and sending a revitalizing wave to Siriusan economy, along with sending the unemployment rates plummeting.

Soviet agents in Siriusa, now properly briefed on the security, layouts and work-times of the factories, set down to "dispose" of the one closer to them. According to their intel, no Siriusan was working there, and it produced CDs and DVDs.

They set out at night, having coordinated with the Siriusan goverment to "liberate the zone" (meaning no pesky police officers), and the team of 6 split up, one would enter via the northern wall, the other would handle security.

"Alpha 1 in position, over"- The radio crackled in the man's ear, no one except him would be able to hear it.

"Alpha 2 ready" And so on and so forth until everyone down to Alpha 6 were acquainted for.

He picked his sniper rifle and took careful aim at one of the guards in the towers, as well as his five mates, they all checked to see the men they were aiming at were alone and would not be missed for a while.

He picked a LAW that had been left next to him, opened it and aimed at the guard tower. The muzzle flash iluminated him as the rocket sped up to the building, five more flashes were seen, either directed at the gates, guard houses or the factory itself. After that, each agent activated the special camo in their suits (same as Wanderjarian GSG-9 use) and left the scene for their get-away car, clearly disguised as a Siriusan police cruiser.

OOC: I always loved the name of the Light Antitank Weaponry. Oh, and this isn't even my best defended factory, the ones in New Vantania have twice this.

IC:

The turret swerved, firing neatly at the rockets headed towards the guard towers, detonating them in midair. The other three turrets in the guard towers aimed, firing at the two going at the factory, also detonating them before they hit the factory. The outer section of the wall was destroyed though, and would have to be repaired. Unfortunately, the two headed towards the guard house couldn't be stopped, and two of the buildings exploded, rocks going everywhere. The gate was also destroyed, clearing the Soviets exit.

As the agriculture in the countryside began to collapse, farmers and farm workers migrated to the city. This was a tremendous opportunity for Cruon Commercial House, Registered Family Syndicate they began hiring the displaced workers and building urban greenhouses for fresh fruits and vegetables. They also tried experimental fish farms, and even designed a few showcase skyfarms. Agriculture began to grow in the cities. From fruits and vegetables, they expanded to horticulture and began exporting flowers and ornamental plants to the international market. It cemented the Commonalitarianisms position in many large cities and towns with their factories and greenhouses.

They began to think to the future inviting in the Ming Commercial House, Registered Business Syndicate. The Ming Syndicate began hiring many people as guards. First they hired out of work police or ex-military, then they began buying the local bodyguard and limousine companies...

The United Kingdom of Ezaltia wishes to donate 500 billion USD to provide immediate aid to the unemployed of Siriusa. Also, we shall be sending several dozen cargo planes full of ready-to-eat meals, medicine, and other vital supplies to distribute among the population.

Press Statement from the Imperial Investment Fund

The Imperial Investment Fund wishes to invest ten billion Gold Denarii into Sirius as a result of their recent stock market crash and economic troubles. This investment would represent an estimated 24 trillion Sorgs. The Imperial Investment Fund is applying to the Government of Sirius to be able to acquire infrastructure based firms; including electrical firms, telecommunications firms, airports and railways. The Investment Fund is also seeking to purchase A grade medium/high density residental and commercial properties.

The Bank of Alexandrian Ptolemais would also wish to establish a subsidiary; the Bank of Sirius - this would enable the people to regain confidence in the monetary system as well as allowing for the employment of more people.

The Imperial Investment Fund estimates that by establishing itself within Sirius that a million jobs could be created, as well as maintaining all present position.

Utility and Telecom warfare. We begin buying the local utilities, telecom, and internet services in the areas surrounding our factories. Then we install solar panels, backup generators, and satellite dishes for telecom.

We have decided to use economic warfare to drive Vontanas out of the area where we operate. This would be a small portion of the country. We control the local utilities.

Suddenly We Buy and Sell Factories start having selective blackout and repair problems from their local telecom, electricity, and gas services as well as steep increases in utility bills. The blackouts are often aimed at high tech facilities where they produce large batches of sensitive high tech or computer equipment. A blackout can kill an entire production run losing millions of dollars.

We are attempting to force Buy and Sell to either spend large amounts of money buying solar panels, wind, or back up electricity generators and telephone service from Cruon Commercial House, or sell their factories to us at a discount.

"Ha! We never even used Siriusan energy sources. Our generators will work well enough, power our factories and what not. They're just wasting their time. Hmm, but if they want war, they've got it." Tucker Boot laughed, and then started barking out orders.

Within the week schools, restraunts, museums, and other city centers were being bought out by Buy & Sell Incorporated. Local teachers were being hired to teach the students at the schools, renowned cooks that had been fired were being rehired, archaelogists immediantly started compiling research on the Great Depression, and Buy & Sell Incorporated was becoming a true household name. All of a sudden, prices for basic items like food for people in the Commonaliterianism company (I forgot the name) shoot up to outrageously high prices.

Added to that was the fact that coal companies were also being bought out to produce cheap energy, cheaper the the competition.

What's more, an ad campaign went out. One of the commercials is shown here:

Camera fades in on a playground with kids playing, quite happy. Voice in the background says, "This playground was built by Siriusans working for Buy & Sell Incorporated."

Scene changes to a school in a rural community, "This school was saved by Buy & Sell Incorporated"

Scene changes to a family of seven, "This is the Jones family, and before Buy & Sell Incorporated came, they were suffering under the Great Depression. Now they work in a Buy & Sell factory, and have money to spare. But now the Commonaliterianism company are fighting us, trying to shut down our factories. If that happens, then the Jones family will be poor and starve." The littlest child, a four year old girl, speaks to the camera, "Please don't make us go back to searching for food. I like Dada and Mama to have jobs."

The biggest technology corporation from Dragonicale called the TLF would be set up in Sirusia. Its industry included software, computers, video games, high technology weapons, anti-hacking, securitywares, and electricity.

TLF saw a big opportunity to make big money in Sirusia, it would hire low level workers for a very low pay (Without Dragonicale's regulation due to the fact, its in another country) than just leave when things turned back to normal.

The Commonalitarianism begins a counter campaign, The National Employee Ownership Ownership Organization begins a lobbying campaign, Siriusians for Sirisua, trying to encourage limitations on imported labor, noting that most of the Siriusians companies are hiring foreigners not locals, they try to get restrictive green card access and legislation so more local labor is hired.

They also start a campaign asking to form a business roundtable on the future of capitalism, specifically worker capitalism-- businesses based on the direct ownership of companies. They show how in the last three years large amounts of Siapians have been vested directly by Commonii companies guaranteeing them a stake in the future. They show that technically the Siriusians own most of the Cooperatives, Syndicates and companies created by the Commonii. They begin to promote local leadership into management positions once they become vested. They show the vesting papers and the guarantees of ownership.

They also begin a campaign against the coal plants, showing that they can produce clean distributed hydroelectric power far cheaper than coal power for the long term. They also don't need to dig up the earth and destroy the environment. They also show they can produce clean windpower at an economical rate. Then they show the future, wave power generators, pneumatic (air) engines, and high performance multifuel turbines. They begin buying large amounts of corn and soy to produce ethanol.

The impact is not as hard on the Commonii companies as expected,they have large urban greenhouses producing local produce and fisheries to put fish on the table. Bread, milk, and meat are expensive, and have an impact but not as much as expected.
It makes some 5% of the workforce go over to join the Siapian company towns

The Commonii also starts a public schools for the public campaign showing how Buy & Sell is turning the public schools into factories for propaganda when it is the governments business to educate school children not megacorporations. They even show clips from the advertisement showing a company town put together by Buy & Sell. They make a staunch statement about the separation between church, state, and business .

They offer to form business alliances, with Allanea and many other companies so they can create new products and help them be brought to market. They offer Allanea and Van Luxemburgh a deal on mass quantities of recycled metals, large solar installations for factories at 10% below the market rate. They call for a roundtable of corporate alliances.

They also state they are not in the business of everything like Buy & Sell, there are appropriate markets for different products, that is capitalism, they don't wish to own the whole country like Buy & Sell. They show Buy & Sell attempting to buy everything. Buy & Sell is shown as a giant octopuss attempting to take over everything. The word monopoly enemy of capitalism is shown over Buy & Sell factories.

The Kitchen Soup wasn't much of a help due to the fact that most people rather spend tons of money to buy food than wait in a long line.
Than there was the people who didn't want to embrass themselves and felt that they could handle the plight themselves.
There was also the fact several people tried to take everything by themselves by grouping small violent riots to try to take over the food supplies but overall it was sucess compared to most shops in Sirusia.

A counter-commercial to the Commonii campaign:

Various scenes of the economic crash play, including a chart showing the stock market crash, a picture of a man with rag clothing, various "not help needed" signs, bad economic headlines, people searching garbage cans for food, and various corporations, factories, schools, etc. closing.

Meanwhile in the background a voice says, "It's been a bad couple of months for Siriusa. Inflation and unemployment rates have skyrocketed, while more and more corporations went under. Millions of people have been displaced, and the number of children not in school is appaling."

The pictures change to business men shaking hands, people getting jobs by the scores, people hard at work, new schools being opened, and people buying food in the grocery store.

The voice continues to say, "It takes a strong hand to guide an economy from such discord into order once again. Under Buy & Sell guidance children of all ages have returned, or started, school. Inflation has been smashed, and while the Siriusan Sorg recovers the New Vantanian National has become an accepted currency in most establishments. Millions have been hired to work as chefs, farmers, factory workers, and more. Support Buy & Sell Incorporated, and the economy shall be stronger then it ever was before. And once it does, Buy & Sell Incorporated will start phasing out it's presence in Siriusa to the basics of our corporation."

Forward Into the Future Campaign:

We start buying failed technical schools and career colleges retooling them so we can teach people how to become tradesmen, manage property, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, build turbine engines, build wind and ocean turbines, construct greenhouses and skyfarms, manage heavy equipment, install alternative energy products, manage power lines and telecom equipment, operate heavy equipment for recycling and manufacturing plants. We offer a contract that promises free education and apprenticeship if they will work for us for three years.

We build several outdoor parks in outdoor areas and start planting trees.

We show a campaign showing a young worker dressed in green, getting educated, getting a skilled job, being offered a contract of ownership, building a greenhouse, managing a construction project, building a wind farm, we show a green clean city with no smog, tree lined roads, happy people in a happy city. The words Forward Into the Future spill across the screen.

People are beginning to get uneasy about some of the Commonii, they are calling them "Green Shirts" for their somewhat strange take on employee ownership and environmentalism. It is scaring some of the more conservative elements in society. In fact, there is a kind of strange electrically charged environment around them. There are rumors of fanaticism, and the spread of strange ideas. There has been a drastic drop in the amount of hoodlums on the street corners, many of the local syndicates have become very quiet, lots of young men and women are going "overseas".

The TLF Corp was making a lot of money... By having a lot of cheap cheap labor! They could sell these profit in richer countries for big bucks while the workers would suffer. The CEO decided to buy out several other smaller companies to make a monopoly in the area.
He also decided to buy out several ports and airports (IF allowed) to make lower the costs to transport their goods and make the costs too high to allow in any other imports!

OOC: You act like I own the TV studios. You don't need to own a TV studio to make a commercial. Anyways, just for RPing purposes we'll say I own the TV studios.

OOC: My mistake them, I just thought you had bought a bunch of different companies and were using them all.

The TLF runs into something interesting at the ports, the thugs, out of work police officers, military officers, and syndicates which the Commonalitarianism was hiring to go overseas are being hired to work on transport cargo ships, salvage ships, as guards, and treasure hunters.

They are paying them the international wage, so when they come back from their stint at sea, they have enough money to open a small business. With $20,000 NS dollars = $200,000 in sorgs it is a sweet deal. Combined with financing from the Commonii bank it buys quite a nice position.

Finally the economy seemed to be improving. The value of the sorg was rising, thanks to the loans made avaliable and the aid given to the banks. The unemploymet rate was rapidly falling due to the foreign businesses in Siriusa that were now hiring primarily Siriusans. Even the value of the stock market was tentatively rising, the final signal of the return of Siriusa's economy.
