Bump thread as computer is drop-kicked.
So far, there appears to maybe be only 4 participants out of a potental 20...

Bump again, that makes 5 participants...
Deadline for signing up is June 23rd.

Please include number and type of units to be used.

This excercise is a full scale practice for invading, occupying, and counter-invading a small nation with a population of roughly 15 million inhabitants shortly after a military junta backed by one of the two teams takes power.

There shall be an underlying civil-war going on as well.

This will be a closed RP.

Make sure you are a member of ADAN before submiting.

In short, a mini-Chitzi civil war...
Now does this have anyone's attention?

My contribution? Call it 8 Divisions, one being Armoured, 5 Mech and the remaining 2 Light.
Naval contribution appropriate to protect that scale of deployment and get it onto the beach. Assume carriers providing air cover, no additional deployment of air forces.

I remember I did worse once, by sending a single rifle company (between 100 and 250 troops)...

I'll asume you plan on "re-using' troops after they 'die'. Have your men bring 10 rocks per person from their hometown with them. Each time a person 'dies' someone must bury one of the rocks, and place a marker
(cross or tombestone with inscription depicting the number of bodies, and a serial number, the number, along with the roster of the dead, would be found in a notebook, which also will contain GPS co-ordnates, upon death, a letter of notification would be sent to the next of kin, written by the surviving CO, next of Kin are not to be corrected that it is merely an excercise until it has been concluded, this shall desensitize them in the event of a real war.)

If a soldier runs out of rocks, they are to return home immediately.
Further disciplinary action may be undertaken at your government's discretion.

Substitute 'rock' with an ID tag if this is easier. (Such tags are used to ID the dead after they have been rendered unrecognizeable)

O-kay....I wasn't expecting million man deployments on a training exercise. In fact, I was expecting the "CivPop" to significantly outnumber the declared military forces of all concerned.
Thus the comment about wanting to re-use troops didn't make much sense, until I saw the list of proposed deployments...
I'll leave mine as planned, and just roll with it, just note that I hadn't expected my contribution to be so vanishingly small.

It's 'sticker shock'.
Deployments this big tend to be common in 'proxy wars'

Technically, you'r deployment is about the same size as asgarnieu's
(He's pretty strong in the navy scale of things though, as he always is)

Now remmember, no live ammunition...

Basics of NRI
New Roanoke Island, though small compared to the mainland, is about the size of a small country, in fact, it used to be a small independent country until about 1850-1935 when the Hurtians took it over when finishing up a small civil war for 'independance'.*

NRI is technically a tropical land, although it is an island of unpredictable extremes, as the mornings are hot and swampy, while everything is dried out in the afternoon almost like a desert, then it downpours in the afternoon, which later turns to freezing rain, which turns the ground back into a swamp before it freezes back over at night.

It does this every F'ing day...

Then the wildlife... apparently the island harbours all sorts of nasty critters that are known to carry off many a man who wanders from a trail, keep yo bayonets handy... As there are worse things out there to worry abouit than people running around with blanks in their guns.

Oddly, it was this particular wildlife that attracted many a big-dangerous game hunter, who usually was quickly taught the need for humility and teamwork.

The beaches are a muddy 'paste', and give poorly for almost any amount of ground pressure during the daylight, and things aren't much better at night when one has to worry about icy beaches...
(See also: Iwo Jima, ash beaches [don't ever get stuck there for the night, as it will also freeze... -also why I made a point to give the HT-101 extra wide tracks, low ground pressure, a winch, and an adjustable ground clearance, you'll see many a Hurtian opting simply to swing through trees or 'stump hopping' if the can...])

Defences in the excercise
Defending its shores will be an old Aircraft carrier, supported by 25 destroyers, and roughly 50 submarines roaming the seas.

In the are, would be roughly 200 combat aircraft, mostly meant for ground attack, but do not underestimate these old delapidated planes, for the pilots are quite good at shooting down a 'hotshot' pilot who underestimted the manuverability of an F-4 Phantom, usually resaulting in inexperianced enemy pilots passing out having pulled too many G's. (The old F-4 could pull 7 G's, even modern equipment prevents the best pilots from passing out only at about 9 G's, the modern Hurtian ones are thrust vector capable, and have uprated engines and improved air intakes with a fierce 'dogtooth' appearance)

Coast defenses are a coast based SAM/MG defense with a central long range SAM base and a large garrision force, with a potent armored resserve.

Scenario:
A military Junta/coup has thrown the small island into dissarray, making it the resource rich land ripe for the taking (it actually is rather void of resources, hence why it is a military proving ground).

The red team sees this as an oprotunity to knock over an island for its land, or to restore the old government so that they may make peaceful inroads to the resources.

The Coup was supported by the 'Blue' team, in order to get better diplomatic relations with their government, which until now has been quite hostile.

The locals will not take kindly to the pressence of either group.

Quick comparission of Hurtian F-4 to F/A-103N.

F/A-103 is:
Stealthier (Lower RCS and IR signature)
More manuverable (9G's vs 7 G's [GLOC can occur at 5 to 8 G's sustained for 5 seconds -excludes blackouts/grayouts])

F-4 is:
On its home turf
Faster (F-4X prototypes supposedly could acieve Mach 3.2, but would I trust a 30+ year old airframe at those speeds during peacetime?)

Given a WSO that can:
target planes independent of the pilot's actions
Manage ECM and ECCM
Provide situational awareness
--------
Weapons compare:
F-4: 1+4+4+2+2 Hardpoints*
(Centerline, outboard fusealage, underwing, wingtip, overwing)
35 mm gunpod /w/ 250 rounds on centerline
4 AIM-120 in semi-recessed fusealage nacells
4 underwing pylons of Air/ground ordnance (750~1,000 Kg each)
2 AIM-9X on wingtip pylons
2 rearward facing AIM-9X on above wing pylons/strakes
*Hardpoints cumilative total exceeds what airframe itself can handle in High-G manuvers ('Overload' limits to 4 rather than 7 Gs)

FA-103:
Two 27 mm cannons /w/ 720-1000 rounds and One 37 mm cannon /w/ 125-200 rounds.
Single 8-10 shot internal rotary launcher
4-6 externaly mounted missiles

Notes: Rearward missles most likely expended in previous 'skirmish'/ambush
Underwing pylons clear on the 'decoys' (that or replaced with 4 to 8 missiles [two AIM-120s and four AIM-9Xs]) Though it is unlikely that they would last long enough to use all this.
======
Didn't find any 'side roads' on the East coast to the capitol.
Moromanga appears to be an essentail 'hub' through a mountain pass (which explains the lack of side roads)

[OOC: Note: F/A-103N has 2 personnel within the aircraft, WSO and Pilot. More can be carried on external hardpoints, such as wingtips, and off of the sides of the fuselage, it is just for slower strike missions. Nice job on the comparison. I'll revert my post with the "side road" tomorrow, just got off work, I'm freakin' dying here...]
