The Libertarian Paradises of Mauratali are an exception to the colonial rule. Instead of usually going red, Mail and Mauritania have ran the other direction, so far that the only 'government' is no more then a collection of more community minded individuals who finace the 'government' out of their own pocket and the pockets of several other, chairity minded, businessmen.

A collection of old and new, conservative and liberal, backwards and modern, Mauratali has everything. Shepard’s, content with their lives, heard their sheep much in the same way their great-great-grandfathers did. Yet at the same time they try out the newest products from all around the world, from super-energy conserving dish washers, mobile phones which are literally miniature laptops, and laptops that measure performance in the amount of terabytes they have.

Muslims, arguably one of the most conservative populations in the world, are a majority. Yet they do live in harmony with what they do admit are 'sins'. This happens for no other reason then even they understand the bonuses stemming from having such a loose society, their shrines are all air conditioned, their clothes are as fancy as can be, and they are allowed more freedom here to practice, in some sense, then the more hard liners in the Middle East. It undoubtedly doesn't hurt that the government makes sure to make suggestions about 'good Muslims wouldn't look twice at a naked women, instead, he would call her father.'

So it exists, rather strengthen by its crazy ideals and economic miracle in a twilight between all worlds. Right and left, moralistic and decadent; main point is, it's looking to stay independent, free, and Libertarian till the end of time.

History

Leaving the protective bosom of France in 1960, the then dubbed Mail Confederation of Mali, Senegal, and Mauritania quickly found that independence was not all that they were promised it would be. Senegal, in disgust, left in an attempt to find a difference path towards economic growth and happiness.

Mali and Mauritania were initially beset by all the usual communist over-tones following an imperialist move out. Yet, after following the advice of the Reds the then Mail President, Beta Guruen, he decided that a centralized economy was just to slow and ungainly to ever do anything then limited economic growth. Looking for a more moderate approach to the management of his country the very disillusioned Parliament took it the whole way. Transforming the country from one of nationalized businesses and regulated concerns to one of complete and total individualism.

Sadly, none of the politicians likely had an idea the full consequences of unleashing the pent up freedom and creativity of their African people. As the pendulum, swinging back from one extreme and looking to go to the other, began to swing back several years later by means of legislation; to merely a moderate viewpoint the country reacted, rather badly.

In one month the government, as most people knew it, was gone. In its place, community minded individuals worked together with multi-national business, religious organizations, and other odd, privately operated groups.

That was 10 years ago; the country has quadrupled its economy and is looking to do even better with the recent finding of oil, the high gold prices, and the new and improved European consumer eager to finally buy something after years of unemployment.

OCC:Sorry to bring this up, $16851.22 is there a mistake on that? Your Current 2 Nations have GDP per Capitlas below $1000 and thats a mega 16 times increase.

Kansiov, you need a lesson in economics, bad.

Just do the math: 28 billion / My POP = Per Capita

It doesn't really matter what the per capita is, what matters is the over all GDP.

OOC: Hi there!
Excuse me, but I don't get your figures to match...

Your GDP is 28 billion, and your population is 16.6 million, that equals a GDP/capita of $1687, not $16851.22.

And I think you have mixed up your stats about "Internet users: 145,235,000 (2005)" - that's hard to have with a population of 16.6 million. :)

Wow, I was tired last night; how'd I mess that up? Must be those damn communists!

As for the internet users, well, I just punched in a random number without too much forethought, as you can tell...

Thanks Kopp for the help, it always seem you're around to help me through the tedious proccess of economics.

Mauratali, or at least the government, holds no official power over the various assests which live in the country. Von Braun, however, will make a suggestion to one of his close friends, a majority stock holder of several companies, who will submit a proposal to the company boards on whether they will use the SCE.

As for the mining, we can neither hinder or help through any official channels, mainly because there are no official channels. Yet we will organize and set up several meetings between you and a collection of large mining corporations to see where it goes.

(Yes and Yes)

Since you're already here, von Braun, as well as his associates, are concerned about the increasingly militerant Commonwealth to the south; since we are rather lacking in military equipment would we be able to buy personal and equipment from you to make sure a new age of neo-colonialism doesn't take root?
