Droskianishk Elections (EFJ Only)

Droskianishk
15-06-2007, 17:47
Capital City of Drosk, Presidential Debates

The three candidates walked into the room amidst the roar of applaus from the audience. The first candidate to take his place was the Vice-President, acting President since President Abdullah had been abdicated by a 'no-confidence vote' in the Parliament, Jamal Arafar. Jamal Arafar is the Droskianishk Socialist Party's (DSP) candidate. Jamal is a tall dark handsome man from the African province (RL Somalia) of Droskianishk. The DSP's platform is to make Droskianishk a Socialist state and make friendly moves towards the USSM and the Socialist States in South America.
The second candidate to take his place is the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Kaliem Kalied. Mr. Kalied is a shorter lightweight Arab man from the South Arab province (RL Yemen). He is the candidate for the Economic Liberty Party (ELP), the party of the former President Abdullah. The ELP currently has the majority in the Parliament (70%). The ELP's platform is capitilism and a move of friendship towards Europe, Calizorinstan, and Honako.
The final candidate to take his place behind a podium is the Governor of the North Arab Province (RL Syria) Mr. Muhammad Musharaf. Musharaf is the candidate for the National Islamic Party (NIP), the NIP is currently the smallest party in Parliament (10%) although they have recently been gaining ground. Musharaf is an average sized Arab man, although a bit on the heavy side, from the North Arab Province. He is also a cleric and teaches at a local Mosque in the nations capital. The NIP's platform is Islamic Revolution and an Islamic Republic for Droskianishk.

The three candidates were ready, the moderator was ready to begin the debates. Everyone knew this would be a very important election for Droskianishk. The King of Droskianishk, the last king with any power, was trying to liberalize and democracize Droskianishk, but with his death looming on the horizon Droskianishk needed a good leader that would not consolidate his power after the Kings death.

(OOC: Basically you all can RP the moderator and ask whatever questions you want all the major Droskianishk news stations and papers are present)

OOC: Do I have to RP the moderator, or can I pose questions to the debater via my news reporters?

Boris Ranzig was one of the few people in the whole of Honakon who was a free, non-governmental reporter and was respected. A prominent reporter for the Imperial Herald, the sixth most popular newspaper in the Honakon Empire, and a researcher for the highly watched Southern Mainland news channel Volex 3 - he also had close ties with the government.

He stood up and asked the moderator to ask the debaters "I would like to know what your stance will be on Honakon in terms of whether you recognize them as a nation and wish to pursue strong foreign relations, from each of the debaters. I would also like to know what economic systems you would put in place in your country, and what priority defence would be in your governmental spending."

The moderator spoke the questions to the debating politicians.

Jamal Arafar " My stance is to recognize Honako, to strengthen ties with them militarily but also and more so economically. But really this would all depend on how they treat our annexation of DJibouti. As you know another Asian nation is very involved in the situation so much as to even fire upon one of our cities. This cannot be allowed to stand. If Honako were to help us we would help them as friends do. But it is important for Droskianishks future to have friends and to build economic treaties."

Kaliem Kalied "Of course we must recognize Honako, but more than that we must tear down current trade barriers. Let the Honako Empire teach us more effective means of running a nation and of building a nation up from nothing to a great nation. This can only be reached by breaking down misunderstandings and treating one another with mutual respect and cooperation from things such as the annexation of Djibouti to the annexation of Mongolia, and to oil trade and the trade of construction materials and other things."

Muhammad Musharaf "The Government of Droskianishk must not allow itself to become the tool of foreign powers and investors. We must not allow Honako one bit of influence in Droskianishk until Honako can show it can contribute to the will of Allah by helping us to annex Djibouti, this of course is part of a growing brotherhood of Muslims which I would like to see Droskianishk at the helm of."

A small female reporter in the background of the room raised her eyebrows. No doubt all the events here would be reported back to the King, and it was obvious already that Kaliem Kalied would get his support, and Muhammad Musharaf was not so happy about forming good relations with it's "sleeping gaint" of a neighbour.

The woman was Linda Shoo was again another reporter interested in only Honakon related news - years of isolation had led the country to be quite unaware of what went on outside of the nation - however she had one question she desired to ask.

"On the issue of Djibouti. Our people have been lead to believe that Honakon currently operates a neutral stance on the conflict, critics say this is due to it's location and the fact that they feel enough nations are involved. Will any of you pledge to halt your advances in Djibouti, due to the international pressure and problems there, or other reasons?"

15-06-2007, 20:51
Jamal Arafar "Honako is currently neutral, and it is not in my agenda to ask them to get involved in an annexation except for the fact that so many international powers have become involved, we only desire more allies so that these international powers will cease their involvement in our annexation. I would be willing to cease advances into Djibouti, if Djibouti were to agree to become our protectorate."

Kaliem Kalied " I do not desire Honako troops to set foot on any foreign soil, it is only that I wish to have their influence so that other foreign powers will leave what happens in our backyards alone. I do not want Droskianishk to interfere with things that happen in Honako's backyard I would wish that Honako would help keep others from interfering with events in Droskianishk's backyard.I see Honako as a leader, as one with experience in not sticking ones nose in another's business, as a leader I would like to see them put that experience to practice by keeping these bully nations out of Droskianishks business. I am not willing to stop advances based on the current situation."

Muhammad Musharaf "I see Djibouti as primaly business of the Muslim people. If Honako should desire to show its friendship towards the Muslim people it should keep other non-muslims out of this primarily muslim business. I want to see all muslims all over the world united, thus I will not stop the advances in Djibouti should I be arrested. Muslim unity is a priority!"

applause tore through the room after Musharafs speech.

A thin man wearing glasses and carrying a notepad stood up from the back of the room. He brushed off his navy blue suit slightly before clearing his throat.

"Johnathan Isnaris, ADNN News. Two questions for all of you."

"First, staying on the Djibouti topic. Why was there no diplomatic communication before the Djibouti Invasion started? Why were they not given a chance to surrender or accept becoming your protectorate? Also, if you could go back and start over, would you do anything differently?"

"And secondly, the Red Sea Tax Fiasco, as it is commonly being called now. Would any of you advocate the reinstatement of this tax, or change it in any way before reinstating it?"
Droskianishk
15-06-2007, 21:17
Jamal Arafar "I am part of the administration which started this war. I take no pride that we did not offer terms of surrender, but now the war is on my hands. If I had it to do over again I would have spoken to Djibouti leaders. As for the Red Sea Tax, I would personally push for it though I doubt it would pass through Parliament."

Kaliem Kalied " Well to answer the first question I didn't start the war, President Abdullah did that. I don't know why he didn't communicate with Djibouti leaders though if I had been president I would have discussed the possibility of them becomming a Protectorate though I don't know if I would have been willing to push for war over it. But now it is a matter of national honor. This war will be thrust upon me if I am elected and I will see to it that Droskianishk and Djibouti get the best cut possible. As to the second question. No I have no desire to have a 'Red Sea Tax' and should one ever be put on my desk I will tear it into pieces, of course during times of war there may have to be some type of restrictions on what goes through our national waters, but this type of alteration is only natural."

Muhammad Musharaf "President Abdullah started the war without consulting the Djibouti people because he accepted Allah's will totally. He knew that only Droskianishk could unite the Muslim people totally. And so he did what he had to do. Now was it wrong for him to unleash violence without warning on fellow muslims? Yes. But his reason was right. His end was right, though the means were certainly questionable. As to the second question, I do not believe in reviving the 'Red Sea Tax' totally but on a nation by nation basis. The enemies of Allah should not only have to pay a toll but it should be a far larger toll whereas the friends of Allah should not be charged one ungak!"

A large man of Russian decent was in the audience. He had been listenting patiently to all of the other questions and answers form the various news agencies from other countries. The man's name was Gabon Kurchev and he was interested in little other than the Djibouti crisis, and Droskianishk relations with the giant, Carloginias, to the north of him.

"What will your stance be on your northern neighbor, Carloginias?"
Droskianishk
15-06-2007, 21:35
Jamal Arafar "My stance would be to open an embassy and trade relations, and to try and get Carloginias aid in the Djibouti conflict. I currently know little about this giant to the north but relations will be necessary to create a more peaceful region."

Kaliem Kalied "It is imperative for Droskianishk to not only open relations but to free up trade so that both the Droskian people and the Carloginains can prosper. Of course I also hope that we can find common ground on the topic of defense against other nations, Granate, and Amazonian which are trying to elbow their way into the region. It is only through cooperation with nations with vested interests in the area that an affective solution can be found on not the Djibouti issue but all others that currently plague Droskianishk."

Muhammad Musharaf " I am currently under the impression that Carloginias controls a muslim nation of people, the Turks. Under my administration it would be one of my largest diplomatic efforts to have Carloginias surrender this nation of people and to have it annexed to Droskianishk in order to free muslim peoples from all over the globe and to bring them into a state which will not only respect their submission to Allah but drive Allah's will world-wide."

A Woman with Pink Hair and dressed in somewhat gothic clothing raised her hand to speak; "Alison O'Tool for the Daily Planet in Animarnia, What is your general foreign policy and how do you view our nation? Also how do you feel about women's rights?" she asked. Waiting for a reply.

"and how do you view the current conflict in the Bahamas" she added

A tall blond man stood up next to the gothic woman and cleared his throat.

"I'm Alfred Schmitd from the Schroeder Corporate News Networks. How do each of you feel about your current purchase of mercenaries in the Djibouti campaign?"
Droskianishk
15-06-2007, 23:40
Jamal Arafar "I view Droskianishk as a nation that has much to offer to the world and can be one of its most active vehicles in bringing social equality to all peoples of the world. I believe that before Droskianishk can begin to help others though it must first be humble and learn to recieve help from other nations. Including our neighbors in the USSM and Carloginias in the north. I believe that once the ugliness of the violence in Djibouti calms the world will find that Droskianishk is not such a difficult nation to get along with. AS to womens rights I believe that women are very much the equal to men, but that in order to protect them more fully modesty laws should stay in place so that women are not reduced to objects and are not something to be gawked at but instead respected. As to the conflict in the Bahamas I see it as a power struggle between the nation of Ambrose-Douglas and the fat cats to the north in Calizorinstan much as Djibouti is a struggle between the developing nation of Droskianishk attempting to bring more power to the region and the fat cats that wish to see the region remain week so that their own wallets grow large. And as I am the one that signed the act allowing the hiring of mercenaries I see it as a simple stated truth, Droskianishk cannot go it alone and needs help in keeping imperialist capitalist nations abroad at bay."

Kaliem Kalied " I see Droskianishk as a nation that needs to be modernized, this nation has alot of resources and many people which needs jobs. And instead of irrationally trying to spread our borders and spread our influence we must first modernize our economy and our nation. And in order to do this we must ask for help from nations all across the globe whether it be the supposed 'fat cats' or those nations which are still in the process of developing. If elected president, this will be my policy it is a simple policy of trade and of modernization. Not a policy of violence and conquest. As to the conflict in the Bahamas I don't see how it is any of my business. Droskianishks national interests are not served by interfering there and it is not in our region in our backyard. The hiring of mercenaries is one way in which we can protect our own backyard, although I do not know if it is so wise to do so. Women are a precious resource just as precious as are men, they are the ones that bear and raise our children. Women should have the right to vote as they currently do not have and they should also have the right to work and dress as they please. I know this is not my most popular position in Droskianishk, but it is one I believe in very strongly. Womens suffrage and equal employment is the first step in modernizing." (applause)

Muhammad Musharaf " I see Droskianishk as a beacon of light to all Muslims. I see Droskianishk as the new Muslim power of the world and as such we must work together with other muslim nations to erase the difference to erase the quarrels and to unite into a common Muslim entity as Allah's Prophet knew in his time. (Stops for applause) In my foreign policy Droskianishk would work for the liberty and freedom of Muslims world wide, not just for those in the decadent nations in the world or in the righteous parts of the globe. As my opponent Mr. Kalied said the Bahama's does not belong to Droskianishk and is not in our backyard. But as for women we must abide by the Sharia and by the Holy Qu'ran, we can modernize without Westernizing. We can modernize without decadizing and this must be the path which Droskianishk takes. Women raise our children and thus cannot be allowed to work to take themselves outside of the home leaving their children alone. And modesty must be maintained, so that women do not lust poor unsuspecting men into their snares and traps.AS for the use of mercenaries I believe this will mean Droskianishks defeat in Djibouti as Allah loves the brave not those which must hire others to fight for them!"

Ali smiled "Of course I was not insinuating that your nation get involved in a conflict so far away but to many it has been viewed like the neighbourhood bully taking the others lunch money as it were; I was merely asking how you view such a conflict. After international condemnation of the conflict in Djibouti could your own annexing of this small nation by a bigger nation be seen in similar light?"

"Also if the candidates could elaborate on there economic polices; Mr Kalied in particular you have mad several comments about economic reforms I would like if you could explain in greater detail what you plan if elected also your views on separation of Church and state" Ali asked.

"And to Muhammad Musharaf; I would like to know how he plans to unite all Muslims in a single identity be it politically or with force. I would also like to know how he views his more liberal neighbours for example would the honourable candidate would sanction the invasion of a sovereign neighbour if he viewed them as 'not Islamic' enough or at all for that matter and if the candidate would support terrorism in the name of 'Islamic revolution' in foreign nations", Ali added.

"and Finally I would like to know the views of all candidates on Animarnia" Ali said sitting back down

Jamal Arafar "I would of course like to end the privatization of the oil business and all the other portions of the 'Nationalist to Capitalist Economic Development Program' that my predecessor began. I am also a firm believer in the seperation of secularization of the state. I believe that the Bahama's situation could be seen in the same light. It is my belief that the Bahama's should be annexed in order to expand the power and ability of both of those peoples. I see that Animaria could be a very valuable ally, however due to their current neutrality in the Djibouti conflict I cannot see that they feel the same way."

Kaliem Kalied " I would like to continue the privatization of businesses across Droskianishk along the lines of the former presidents program. I would also like to see the trade barriers currently held up by the nation of Droskianishk dropped to allow the growth of trade between Droskianishk to help my people as well as people all across the world. It should be only natural that this would begin with our neighbor Animaria. This of course does not allow for the seperation of church and state as that is not part of the constitution of Droskianishk, should however the Parliament of Droskianishk pass such a law I would consider the signature of it. I see the conflict in the Bahama's and the Djiboutian conflict as the same. This is a matter between those two nations in that part of the world albiet it is not our place to get involved. The Djibouti conflict is a conflict between us and Djibouti and thus the rest of the world should not be involved, especially nations from across the globe."

Muhammad Musharaf " We often hear the terms Socialist and Capitalist, but I will propose a new system Islamicist in which the economy will truly serve the people in the way Allah intended it, people will neither be slaves to corporate masters nor will they be slaves to the state, clerics will oversee functions of the economy to ensure few abuses. As to your question directed specifically at me I do not plan to spread Islam by the sword it would be most unwise to do that, but instead spread Islam through diplomacy and voting into a federation and then one day far from now into one state. It is only through resolving of our petty differences that we muslims can rocket ourselves back onto the world stage."

Alfred chuckled to himself, then went on.

"This single Islamic State ideology humors me. So I have but a few questions to ask, Mr. Musharaf. How are you supposed to run a successful economy when clerics, of the state I presume, run the stage. Would the workers not be slaves to their corporate masters of the state in that case? You are going against everything you have said. Surely greed can overcome duty in these clerics and their will be corruption, leading to dissent in the general populace.

Another thing I must ask is how you plan to unite all nations with Islamic peoples within them. The Territories have a 2% Islamic population, so how do you plan on 'uniting us to the true ways of Islam'? I can assure you that nations with a small Islamic population, such as the Territories, are not going to be sucked into your twisted ideological fantasy regime, so really, just a general outline of your plan is needed.

And to the rest of you,how are your views on the Corporation and how it does its business?"
Droskianishk
16-06-2007, 17:56
Muhammad Musharaf "The mosque is above the state, as it is Allah whom appoints and allows state officials to serve in their station in His place, thus in the Islamicist system clerics would work much as inspectors in order to keep those who run the factories or industries, private entrepreneurs, will not abuse their workforce. And there are many nations whose current populace who believe in Allah's Prophet and his message are small, this is why Droskianishk must act quickly through diplomacy and through the world economy to help bring Allah's message to people all across the world, the Revolution will not be complete in my lifetime but I hope that one day it will be complete."

Jamal Arafar "I believe that the Corporation is a business that provides a service, I am not going to judge that business since it is none of my business on how they make their money. Everyone must make a living."

Kaliem Kalied "Well like Vice President Arafar just said, the Corporation is a business that provides a service. I think that the Corporation needs guidelines like not sending troops to both sides during the same conflict as this would be immoral and murder instead of truly providing a service. If the Corporation was ever found doing this and I was president I would never again authorize their usage."
