COMECON Building, Vetalia City

For several weeks, the building had been abuzz with activity as teams of construction workers and engineers renovated the facilities to accommodate the first general meeting of the reborn COMECON. Effectively destroyed in the wake of yet another Hatarian crisis, the building had sat abandoned for several years before the new Vetalian government made the decision to revitalize the alliance as a bulwark of stability in an increasingly chaotic world.

Sergei Antropov, several years older and all the wiser (not to mention richer, thanks to a well-negotiated severance package), walked over to the podium and looked out at the meeting chamber, still crowded with scaffolding and plastic tarps. Behind him, the new COMECON flags and seal were in place, their familiar symbols reminding him of the organization's past. The room had the faintly pleasant smell of new wood, marble and furniture, and it was lit by the colorful skies of late spring. Outside the chamber, the din of construction reminded him that the organization had really been reborn and he would be able to lead again.

Speaking to nobody in particular, he switched on the microphone and spoke. "This meeting of the COMECON will come to order. Any member states wishing to make a proposal at this point can do and we can review any aspect of the alliance as required."

The New Manthian ambassador rises.

"New Manth is currently reviewing its diplomatic situation. Before we proceed further, though, we would like to inquire as to the state of COMECON-SD finances left over from the alliance - as we recall, a very considerable sum. What has been done with them in the meantime?

Also, we would like to make sure it is made explicitly clear in the constitution that while members are free to intervene aggressively in foreign conflicts on their own, joint action by the alliance is only mandatory when a member nation is attacked. We belive that, while this concept was present in the previous constitution, it was perhaps made not quite clear enough."

OOC: Did you ever see my TG/post in the old alliance thread from a while back, Vetalia?

"The funds have been held in an account in the DMC International Bank and have not been touched since the organization went on hiatus. They are currently totaling over $8 trillion altogether.

And in regard to the second issue, yes, that is the case. Such a revision was made to the Constitution in the aftermath of the Haven-Hataria conflict several years ago."

OOC: Not yet, but I will check it as per your TG.

OOC: Vetalia, I TG'ed you about membership in the COMECON-SD.

OOC: I'd love to join again, remind me though, why did we disband? Like what was the exact reason?

"Our organization was disbanded because of the situation surrounding the Haven-Hataria crisis as well as our own brief conflict with The PeoplesFreedom. We felt that the organization should be on hiatus until these conflicts were totally resolved, as they split our membership considerably.

However, all previous members of the COMECON-SD are still members in the new organization. It simply reflects the continuation of the previous alliance."

"And we are glad for that continuation." The Wagdian delegate spoke her mind, having missed the organization during its disappearance no thanks to internal stresses. "Some might not return, but those that do can do so with a greater understanding of what's involved and thus our alliance can be more unified in future action. We reaffirm our commitment to this alliance in full; and proudly back the Second Republic politically and you Mr. Antropov, personally, as its leader yet pending any new vote on the matter." She flashed a professional yet warm smile before taking her seat again, watching the proceedings with a catlike air of observance about her.

Prince Nikako Jones rose to his feat. "The nation of Droskianishk is pleased to see this alliance reborn and would like to see a new wave of freedom and cooperation crash against the rocks of poverty,tyranny, and chaos."

The crown prince sat quietly.

The Vetakan Delegate sat just to the right of their Wagdog Counterparts after listerning to the various delegates speak He rose from his chair and began:

"As are we glad for its return and shall support it in anyway we can"

The Vetakan sat and returned to his Cheese and Bacon Oatcake which he had sneeked into the Room as he was starving.

The Barronian Delegate took to the stand.

"Excellent! We are most pleased that COMECON is reforming. We are pleased to announce that we will be returning, effective immediately."

"This is excellent to hear. We hope more and more nations will return, and we hope we can move forward on the goals that the COMECON set when it was first founded."

Turning to the Wagdog emissaries, he spoke quietly "It is good to have you back, friends. Our nations can build even stronger ties now that we have reestablished our alliance."
