Shalrirorchia Releases Hatarian Prisoners
SHALCORIA, United Press- The United States of Shalrirorchia has released the Hatarian prisoners kept in the Kelmoran Desert Detention Facility. The prisoners were the last of an entire group captured during the bloody Battle of Bayport during the Shalrirorchian/Hatarian War.
"We have determined that it was no longer feasible or profitable to hold them." General Sasha Alekseyev said in a statement made by the Defense Department. "We had already learned everything that we could learn from them. The war is long over. It seemed appropriate to return the prisoners at this time in a gesture of magnanimity."
Critics, however, point to the recent ruling of the Supreme Court in which the justices unanimously declared that the Shalrirorchian government was in violation of federal and international statutes by holding onto the prisoners without charge. The Aeri Administration declined this week to continue legal efforts to keep the Hatarian prisoners in U.S.S. custody.
The Hatarians are being given transport on civilian air traffic and flown back to Hataria with whatever personnel effects (uniforms, personal photos) that they had when they were captured.
