A Little Spying (CLOSED)

Agent Johnathan Vale stood outside the double doors, calming himself. He was one of the best spies in United Law, but the meetings with the people known as the Masters still unnerved them.
A voice sounded from a loud-speaker outside the door. John gulped and went in.

He squinted under the pressure of a bright light. A harsh voice sounded from the darkness surrounding him. "Johnathan Vale, do you accept the contract to infiltrate the government of Siap, steal data packs and technology plans?"

Johnathan knew it was more of a command than a question. "Yes sir." was all John said.

John walked down the street. He was casing the home of one of the lower level officers of the department he was supposed to infiltrate. He tapped on the door of the house. He readied the small device he had in his pocket.

OOC:Just make it a lower level person that won't make too big of an impact on the story.

George Crayle was a small, unassuming man and generally a loner. He was an economic analyst for the Siapian Intelligence Network, at the bottom of the intelligence food chain. It was his job to sift through thousands if not millions of newspapers, economic reports and the like to piece together information about nations around the world. There was quite literally an army of people like him who worked for SIN, doing the same thing.

Since he was a very low level worker for SIN, he did not live on a military base, but, like all SIN employees, he was subjected to a little more surveiliance than the average citizen.

The small nervous man did not have visitors often. The door opened inward, with a chain still attatched. "H-hello?"

John frowned and quickly flashed a fake ID at George. "Let me in. Official business."

Crayle frowned slightly as he closed the door and undid the chain and let the man in. He didn't recognize what department the ID was from, but the man was convincing enough.

"Can I, uh, get something for you to drink?" The house was a mess.

John looked around in disgust. "No... thank you." John's eyes widened in fake surprise. He pointed behind George and yelled "Holy hell, what's that?"

Crayle promptly spun around, pulling a stupid face, eloquently announcing, "Bwuh?"

John quickly reached into his pocket, pulling out a small, rectangular device. He quickly pressed it into George's spinal cord, and pressed a small button on it. The device would send hundreds of electrical signals all up and down his spine, paralyzing him. IF George was unlucky, it would overload and kill him. It happened from time to time.

As stupid and as sloppy as George was, he had an impressively resiliant cardiovascular system, brought on by five years of veganism enforced by his previous girlfriend. The pain was excrutiating and his teeth locked together, cutting some flesh from his tongue, causing blood to emanate from his mouth while his muscles quivered.

When his violently convusling body had finally broken away from the device, he fell quickly and stiffly to the floor. For the time being he was just barely alive. If placed in the recovery position and taken to the hospital soon, he might just make it.

John quickly walked over and bent down. He pulled out a small knife and a small glass vial. He scraped some of George's skin into the vial. John walked over into the kitchen of George's house. He pulled open the stove, and opened the gas valve. John set a small device in the stove, and walked out the front door. When he was about half-way down the street, he pulled a detonator out of his pocket and pressed the small button on the top.

OOC: Assuming that was an explosive of sorts

IC: Within minutes, the fire department arrived. The first group of firemen who entered the building, they saw George and quickly pulled him out to a waiting ambulance.

Within seconds of the arrivial of the firemen, a small grey sedan appeared and two men in suits exited. The first man promptly darted over to the paramedics. "Whats the situation?"

"Severe burns. We also have extreme muscle tension."

"Rigor?"

"No. Something else. Heartbeat is erratic. He's stable, but I doubt he's going to last."

The man in the suit helped lift him into the ambulance and got in the back, closing the doors. The ambulance activated its sirens and then promptly drove off.

The second man entered the smoldering ruin. "What happened here?"

"The gas was on. Probably just a little spark or something."

"Judging by the damage it couldn't have been on for more than a few minutes." The man surveyed the house. For that amount of time with that volume of gas, the blast was primarily superficial. Enough to turn windows and anything fragile into a lethal weapon, and enough to start a descent blaze, but not enough to eliminate all the evidence. The man took out a dictophone and began narrating the scene. Looking at the gas valve, he said, "Possible evidence of tampering..."

OOC:Yeah, it was. I wasn't sure that didn't have something to interfere with the radio waves or anything.

IC: John briskly walked down the street, away from the sirens. He turned a corner, and headed down another street. He dissapeared into a back alley, and turned and opened a small basement window. He wiggled down into it, and stepped into the small room. He stepped to the side, as spikes dropped down from the ceiling. His hand shot to the right, and pressed a small, spongy, sort of brownish part of the wall. Most of the rest of the walls were crap, so this one spot wouldn't be suspected. There was a whirring sound, and the spikes retracted into the ceiling.

John walked across the room, and knocked on a section of wall. A seam appeared in the wall, and a door opened. John passed through several more rooms like this, each going down, but the traps had been deactivated. Once he passed through a small trapdoor in the final room, he ended up in a crowded area, with three techs, a weapons rack, two cots, three computers, a gadget box, and a stack of papers. John sat down at one of the cots and began leafing through the stack of papers.

OOC:Alright, first off, do you have a problem with the nanotechnology I use? The men used it to build the base, and it'll be used a lot. Also, what are you security systems like, for your computers? Good, bad, extraordinary, or do you not use computers?

OOC: Sorry about the delayed response. Nanotechnology is fine, as we use it a bit. Just don't use it too excessively (huge bombs, tanks, machine guns etc. out of nowhere in under a minute). Also, bear in mind that certain areas will have countermeasures to nanotechnology.

In terms of computer technology, we have just poured around a billion dollars into reveloping the computer network. The computers used by the Siapian government are its own variety of linux, so viruses, worms and trojan horses are out of the picture. Part of the billion dollars spent was to integrate qubit (quantum binary digit) technology into the computers used by SIN, which exponentially amplifies computing power to the point that anything less than, say, a class G attack would be met with almost instant counterhacking. Plus, outside data entering the SIN databases enters via a path similar to the NSA's Gauntlet system, although several improvements have been made. If anything is suspect, the program is deconstructed to the assembly language, which is put in a text file, and is recompiled inside a closed network.

In short, the computer security is extraordinary. Keep in mind that one of your targets only exists as a paper file inside the archive stacks in the main facility.

SIC:

Memo to all personnell:

George Crayle, an analyst within our organization, was pronounced DOA at the Esmund University Medical College at 09:14:21 am. Initial investigations handled by internal security suggest that foul play may have occured. While no formal conclusion has been reached, a level 2 security alert has been enacted as of 09:14:22 am.

We presently mourn the loss of all of our employee, but we cannot let this deter us from our purpose.

-General Urban

As soon as the alert had been enacted, all of Crayle's biometrics were removed from the access privilege database and were transferred to a seperate database that would not only deny access to the compound, but would also trigger a silent alarm. His network and email accounts were cancelled almost immediately, his passwords were changed and all of his security clearances were revoked. The keycard he had been entrusted with was now not worth the plastic it was printed on. In addition, patrols were increased and random inspections of employees were doubled.

General Urban sat in his office, staring out the window over the desert. Amateurs. He thought, scorning those who he had contracted to try and breach this facility's security.
