OOC: Closed to all except Wagdog unless invited. This is set after the Swan Rebellion Situation. Vetakan State Visit to Wagdog.

50 Miles to Tailville DR International Airport, Wagdog Air Space, Wagdog:

The glorious morning sun over the Wagdog Nation bathered the nation in a trully beautiful colour. The people of Wagdog would be awakening to such a beautiful day. The Vetakan Presidential Flight had been flying for 2 hours or so now and President Scarlet Rogers stood on the Flight Deck watching the amazing sun rise above over the horizon. The Vetakan Presidential Flight consisted of 6 Planes. 4 F-421 Interceptors, 1 Boeing 747 and 1 Bombardier Challenger 604 the 2 Passenger Planes where white and had the Vetakan Flag painted on the wings and tail with "The Free Dominion of Vetaka" in big black writing written down the sides of the plane flying in a Diamond Formation with the Fighters taking point. Aboard the Boeing 747 stood on the Flight Deck a women gazed out of the window dressed in a very smart back dress suit she couldn't wait to land and see the wonderful city of Tailville DR up close. Furtherdown the 747 in the Planes main Compartment a man in a casual black suit without a tie a man sat reading a book entitled "The Lord of the Rings".

Boeing 747 was highly customised to include a Conference Room, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Command and Control Rooms, Armoury, Crew Quarters, Storage Area, OBSAT Uplink and Defensive Countermeasures this was the Vetakan Presidential Personal Plane known as "White Phoenix Alpha" over the airways she gave the Vetakan President the run the country from anywhere in the world. She also allowed the Vetakan President to travel anywhere in the world in style and luxury as they approached the Airport the pilot on the Flight Deck of the Boeing radioed ahead:

"Tailville DR International this is Vetakan Presidential Flight. Lead Plane White Phoenix Alpha requesting permission to land? Requesting Advice on landing arrangements for Razgrix Fighter Escort Squadron and Bombardier Plane White Phoenix Bravo. Tailville DR International do you copy?"

OOC: Glad I caught this.;) I was about to log off, still need to to hit the post office. But there's time for this post, for sure; not to mention reintroducing another old The People's Earth character into my main NS timeline in the bargain.
Comptroller Roger Neilands smiled at this; he'd been expecting this visit eagerly and radioed back promptly. "Roger White Phoenix Alpha, we read you five-by. Welcome to Wagdog, friends! We advise landing Alpha, then Bravo and finally the Razgriz Squadron. If needed, Il-78M Midas tanker support can be provided should your aircraft be fitted with probe-drogue gear." Not a detail to overlook, for sure. "If they aren't and their wings are getting tired, you can just set your birds down first then. Our fighters have BARCAPs set to most sides of your ingress route anyway for miles out, so don't worry White Phoenix Alpha; we've got you. You are cleared for landing on runway 07, approach at your discretion. Over?" Hopefully, that would take care of things.

And so indeed, thousands of kilometers away, F/A-15D Cardinals of the Red Army Air Force maitained standing patrols armed for air-to-air combat. Technically this was at high-peacetime or "contingency" readiness; but the missiles were live nonetheless, and the pilots sharp for any sign of interference with the Vetakan diplomatic visit. In particular, Captain Aaron "Aragorn" Ellington, so-nicknamed due to his superficial resemblance to the legendary character, sat ready as he lead Alpha Flight/1st Squadron/I Fighter-Strike Wing/First Air Force and its two FA-15Ds in a racetrack patrol just within visual range of Tailville DR International. Watching White Phoenix One, he thought, Long overdue, I say. Hopefully this can let us all relax a bit after all the craziness lately... Hopefully indeed...

Boeing 747, White Phoenix Alpha:

"Roger that Tailville DR. We are good for fuel landing as advised Standby" replied the Pilot

"All Units Understand?" asked the Pilot

"Bravo Roger" replied a women

"Razgrix 1 Roger" replied a Stern Man

"Roger All Units Prepare for Landing. ETA 2 Minutes" replied the lead Pilot

Back Aboard the 747 the Pilot hit a button and began speaking this time he broadcast over the Planes PA System:

"This is Captain Green. All Passengers Return to Seats. Crew Prepare for Landing"

With that President Rogers rushed back to her seat next to Pearce and strapped herself in. Pearce closed his book and did the same. Eventually the Plane began to desend and bump it hit the ground with a thud slowing down to a taxi the Plane made its way to the designated area and eventually came to a stop. Releasing their safety belts Pearce and Scarlet rose to there feet Scarlet began to quickly brush her hair while Pearce retrieved his E-57 Service Pistol replacing it in his suit holster he expected no trouble within his nations closest Allies Capital but one could never be to careful. Looking over at Scarlet as she frantically brushed her beautiful blonde hair he smiled before saying:

"You have brushed it 12 times in Flight and all 12 times its looked the same"

"Shut it" she replied in a very playful manner.

At the Planes front Cabin Airlock the steps had arrived and the door opened for Presentational Sake 2 Armed Scouts in Ceremonial White Robes exited the plane and marched down the steps coming to a halt at the bottom they took up position on either side of the steps drawing their swords they saluted the waiting Wagdog party with a traditional Sword Salute. Replacing their swords they again saluted with a standard Vetakan Military Salute and then stood at ease.

With this complete Pearce and Scarlet emerged flanked by 2 Aides and 2 Razgrix Guards desending the stairs Pearce and Scarlet saluted the Ceremonial Guardsman whom returned the salute and then Pearce and Scarlet both smiling like mad approached the waiting Wagdog Welcome party Pearce was the first to speak:

"Its good to see you guys?"

OOC: Check TGs for some background stuff for this post. Thanks.
IC
"It's good to finally see you, Daniel Pearce." General Secretary Carolinus Horridus shook Pearce's hand firmly, returning smile for smile as his shaggy but short full beard made him look once again like the college radical he'd started as. "My wife has told me so much about you, and all for the well; even that legendary stubbornness of yours way back when it seemed your country had a bullseye painted on it for every random despot. For what it's worth..." He made sure he had Daniel's ear first so he could whisper, "It's Charles; Charles David Lind. Don't blab it, since I haven't gotten around to repealing that ridiculous National Security Act yet; but I'll announce it soon. Thanks to your example, and Scarlet's, I've grown tired of the last decade's mask I've used." He then kindly turned an eye to Deputy General Secretary Christine Friedrich, his partner in all senses of the word, as she beamed back and moved to make her greetings.

"Daniel..." Scarlet took his hand and hugged him warmly, she having missed him greatly, even if this was a bit awkward; hugging a reanimated assassination victim, and all. "It seems even Death can't conquer you. Welcome at last, to the little work-in-progress I call my home." She waved around at the tarmac, the sprawl of urban Tailville DR already having taken up much of the island it was situated on aside from certain specific preserved areas.

"And Scarlet!" Now Christine turned positively girlish, seeing once again arguably her best friend after her own husband. "At last you're here. Finally we can relax after all that insanity that started way back when." Knowing it was a painful subject, Christine decided to leave the details at that. "On that point, shall we off to your embassy here? We've got a lot of fun to start having tonight and I intend to start..." It was clear this wasn't going to be the most formal of diplomatic visits, even if the honor guard had presented their polished TK-9 carbines with Mauser bayonets gleaming and the Red Guard Band played the Vetakan anthem in full glorious blaze. But then again, for what was supposed to be a simple visit between friends, perhaps it didn't have to be...

Pearce took the hand of his host and smiled listerning to his whisper Pearce pulled Carolinus into an embrace and whispered back:

"I know VSIS are like Ants they get everywhere but I always thought you would be a Charlie than a Charles"

Embracing Christine Pearce absorbed the friendliness and simply replied with a smile of course:

"White Phoenix Practices that reminds me I have a message for you but ill deliver it in a more private setting"

Scarlet smiled and repaid the embrace around Christine she had waited along time for this hug from her best friend and she choked back the tears when she thought of Jason holding Christine for a few seconds she released her and smiled again.

Scarlet slightly smaller than Carolinus stretched onto her tip toes and threw her arms around him embracing him she smiled and spoke:

"Its good to see you my friend and might I say what a fine city you have. I don't want to talk to much of buisness but are we scheduled to meet with the Press at all?"

While Scarlet waited for a reply Pearce took the time to look around observing the Airport and its busy surroundings Tailville DR was beautiful his eyes met the well polished Wagdog Guards and the Red Guard Band he saluted them and listerned to the National Anthem of Vetaka play out. The Anthem was very modern and sounded brilliant from the band the song was called "A Faith of the Heart" and had been used by Paramount for the Theme Song to the TV Series Startrek Enterprise. Pearce smiled as he sang along before his eyes met with a Limo flanked by two Wagdog Police Cars a women stepped out and hastedly walked towards Pearce and the President the women was the Vetakan Ambassador Susan Harper and was dressed in a womens DKNY Suit Dress meeting them she smiled and generally announced:

"Apologies for my lateness I was held up at the Embassy."

OOC: Sry for lateness; figured that I do want to use my new anthem idea after all, but decided to change my song though. Also, although they use patrol cars, you should know that my Red Guard Police are a lot like your own police in that they're military-grade; as likely to make a bust from an armored car as anything. Those desiring to become MPs in the regular Army first serve their two-year draft in the RGP, before electing to transfer to the Army instead of mustering out into the reserves.
IC
Shrugging, Charles quipped to Pearce, "Meh. I outgrew that around when I was twenty. Fighting off in some jungle somewhere as part of your draft service can do that, I guess. I'm still the same guy so it's no difference. And thanks about Tailville; we've tried, although naturally the Elves and natives give me heck about the sprawl." Tailville DR looked set to overtake its island completely, almost like a miniature version of Coruscant from Star Wars even if only in conceptual terms; the architecture being a neo-Gothic mix of 1930's New Yorker and Muscovite inspirations almost equally, complemented by the modern tunes of Wagdog's recently-selected new anthem, Aurora's The Day it Rained Forever.

Returning Scarlet's embrace, and drawing something of an 'eye' from Christine even if perhaps more arch than jealous, he said "No apologies needed; what with the world being its usual place even more lately, I can see how making arrangements that won't collapse on us before the appetizers are served tonight would occupy you all to distraction." Perhaps not the best attempt at humor, but there it was. "As for the Press, there'll probably be a bit since this isn't a staged visit really; but they'll probably be at the embassies. I'm trying to keep this as private as possible since I don't want too many trying to take advantage of it, as we know some would..." No need for elaboration there, however unlikely even from that direction. "Hence you'll probably see them during the military review at the Palace of the Revolution (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12372633), or else at the embassies during the various dinner parties."

Not wanting to dwell too much on the formalities, even if he intended to impress his guests all the same, Charles left things to Christine so she could catch up with Susan. Christine also reassured the Vetakan diplomat, "No problems, Susan." Hugging her tightly as well, for really much of the high-level government in both nations amounted to a friends' club by now; first-name bases and everything. "Have you managed to get in touch with the Relorians? Ideally we can make this a double-tap visit, but of course we can't be rude about it." That shoe simply had to drop how it might, even if Christine was expectant in her thoughts all the same.

OOC: Sorry its not really long.

$Susan returning the embrace smiled and began:

"Ive just spoken with the Relorian State Department and they are ready for us to drop in at any time we just need to give them a few hours notice. On the note of Reloria ive also just spoken to Stone at VDF Command it seems we have 2 Naval Patrols within Area they are going to maintain an over the horizon position from Reloria"

"Excellent" replied Scarlet

Pearce chuckled to himself and began:

"Come on let us go before Scarlet finds a mirror to do her hair in again besides I am looking forward to enjoying some fine Wagdog Cuisine"

Scarlet shot him a playful look which also said "Im going to Kill You when we get to the Embassy" They all laughed before slowly making their way to the waiting Vehicles passing the well polished Wagdog Honour Guards Pearce and Scarlet saluted them in turn. The event would be more of a holiday for Pearce and Scarlet than a State Visit as the Political Leaders of both Wagdog and Vetaka where more Personal Friends than Political Allies.

"Well then right this way, everyone." Playing the role of the gracious host, Charles motioned towards the wating limo and led the way, allowing Christine and Scarlet to continue chatting of course. "We'll hit your embassy first, and then after some fun with whatever dignitaries show up will make our way to the Relorian embassy for some preliminaries to our second event." Opening the door, he motioned all in before entering himself as the staff chauffeur drove off the tarmac.

Driving through the streets of Tailville DR, many of the buildings looking like homages to Moscow's noted Seven Sisters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Sisters_%28Moscow%29) in style; although vastly cleaner given the better state of Wagdog's economy. Most other Tailville DR skyscrapers were modern-style, though; testament to the country's commitment to entering the wider world even while remaining as true to its ideological roots as was practical. Turning onto Aurora Avenue, the architectural styles became notably more traditional and varied; often modified to suit the style of the nations owning the property at each number in question, this street being Wagdog's official "Embassy Row".

Arriving at the Vetakan Embassy, this time the matter was all-pleasure. Charles took note of the press through the windshield, and wasn't impressed. "Damn; they have a right to, but they sure know how to be inconvenient about it..." He shot them a sharp look before Christine hushed him.

"Dear, no. I handled similar during my trip in Barronia a while back. Let's let Scarlet show them how good she is at such things." Her tone was notably icier than one would expect it to be. "She is the 'Model-in-Chief', after all." At that Christine warmed up, but then again it was directed to Scarlet so Charles still felt slighted a bit.

No matter. Opening the door, he waved to the press as the flashbulbs and cacophony started before he said, "Comrades! Please! Let's give this spoltlight to our Vetakan friends. This is their night here, and I expect us all to make them as welcome as they have us over the years. Thank you." He then offered Scarlet his hand like the gentleman he was and asked, "Showtime, Scarlet?"

Pearce was amazed by Tailville DR it was such a gracious city oozing with style and importance drifting into a Trance like state he was shooken back into reality when the car came to a halt noting the press he remarked:

"They are like vultures"

Susan smiled before exiting the Vehicle waving to the Press and promptly entered the Embassy. Scarlet mearly smiled, taking the hand of her host she exited the car smiled for the Press before walking towards them ignoring the questions she mearly said:

"Its wonderful to finally be in the city ive wanted to visit since I first heard of this Glorious nation. Thank You"

Turning on her heel she rejoined her hosts before walking into the Palace all the while saluting the various Vetakan Guards as she went. Pearce was the last to exit the car he spent a few seconds working out how to operate the Limo's internal window linking the Passenger Compartment to the Drives finally lowering the window the driver and his passenger where shocked to see Pearce smiling handing 2 Crisp Wagdogian Notes to the people he mearly said:

"Lovely Ride, Thanks here have a Drink on me"

Exiting the Car he waved gave the Press a cheeky smile before turning to salute the Vetakan Guards entering the Embassy Scarlet frowned before saying:

"You tipped the Driver didn't you?"

She turned to Christine and spoke:

"He tipped the Pilot"

Again with a cheeky smile and a laugh Pearce spoke:

"Yes it was a ruddy good drive. Anyway I hate to be rude but is their any food I am famished?"

"Well, even if the least of our workers is still well-paid in the absolute sense, a few slipped Fiats aren't a crime exactly." Generally speaking, Wagdog tolerated the 'informal economy' because there was simply no point in trying to stop people from helping each other out on an ad hoc basis. And so long as providing supply for such impromptu demands didn't cross over into the realms of the actual 'black' market or suchlike organized crime, why shouldn't it? "We're not Kravania you know, Scarlet!" Christine acted mock-scandalized, but really she knew it was all in good girlish fun.

And neither Charles nor Pearce were immune to the hilaria surrounding them at that moment, it seemed. "I should hope there's food here... it's your embassy you ol' rebel!" Charles then gave Pearce a friendly nudge as he exclaimed, before standing before the flashbulb firing squad to do his part. Namely, hushing the Press as only he could while the guests went in; spared the imposition.

One reporter, from WIBC Press asked, "Mr. Pearce... M-Mister Pearce! How do you explain your resurrection from beyond the..." Not five seconds in and she was already treading dangerous ground. Lady, how newly-hired are you? Charles' thoughts erred towards within the week in her case...

Fortunately for the overzealous girl, Charles decided to be easy about disarming that one. "Sorry, but I'm afraid that's both classified and very personal; both to my good friend Mr. Pearce. And of course, 'One should not meddle in the affairs of wizards; for they are subtle, and quick to anger,' right? Come on, ask away. But at least make sure it's something I can answer, please." Hopefully that should cover their entrance... He thought as Pearce and company made their way into the Vetakan Embassy. Now about getting me in there, hmm...

Backing into the gate, Charles wondered if he'd be delayed a bit answering the throng of questions. Such as "What of the tensions between Reloria and certain Sovereign League nations lately?", or "Is it true that COMECON-SD is indeed reforming?", or any number of things that either could or couldn't be answered. Generally, Charles managed to satisfy with a "The reaction to Matriarch Zelella's criticism of the Questarian mobilization was overdone on the part of some, in my own opinion; but all the same there is a right to free speech so there's nothing for it. And yes, COMECON-SD is alive and well; as is our shared commitment to it with Vetaka. I'd hoped the press releases would've informed of that already, but am pleased to have been of service. Now, if you will excuse me good Comrades, I have guests to attend to." With that, he backed through the gate knowing that the VDF Diplomatic Guard would take care of the rest.

Catching up with Pearce, Susan and Scarlet somewhere in the Embassy, he casually went on. "I had the idea that we should probably sample some Vetakan appetizers or suchlike here, as well as me getting as up to speed with your culture as my wife is." Charles smiled at Christine, who returned it pleasantly... but no more. Uh-oh. This had been happening more lately; since her trip to Barronia, in fact. Not hostility-as-such between the two, Goodness no; but a certain... palpable gap, that was definitely the sign of trouble at the bottom of it. "Then, we proceed to the Relorian Embassy for the main course, and thence to the Palace of the Revolution for a night's dessert and music and general foolery between friends. What say?" He gathered there wouldn't be any objections, but as always he simply liked to say it for saying's sake; being something of an addicted blabbermouth actually, his more terse airs being just that when put on for the sake of imposing diplomatic discourse...

Vetakan Embassy:

At the sight of the Press Pearce smiled and along with the WIBC Press Reporter:

"As my friend said it is Classified my Friend either way I am back and I want to confirm that I am acting as an Advisor to the Vetakan Government and nothing more. However may I say the articles on Tailville DR do not do it justice Anyway I am afraid the Hunger Rumble calls and I must go Thank You"

With that he swept away and allowed the VDF Diplomatic Guards to do their Jobs. Pearce listerend to the Conversations of the Women before remarking to Charles whilst grinning:

"Why is it that women always talk about Hair Colour? Is their any secret rooms within your Palace that we can lose them within?"

He went on to take a more serious note:

"Are things ok between you and Christine? Since I came back from the Spirit Land my senses have increased and I sense Distress. If you ever need to talk I am only a call away?"

OOC: I sense we're approaching a 'bump now or forever hold your peace' situation here, so hence best to get this out of the way. Apologies for any gravedig, but since this is officially fluid-timed into the past as of here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12788428) I figure we can proceed at a slower pace than usual.
IC
"Well... yes. We can't really go into it here, at your embassy and all; but I've got a rec room in the palace where we can hang out while the women do just what you say. I'll just note that, ever since her trip to Barronia recently and starting to commute between here and Lucianus in Granate for those UFAN functions so requiring, Christine's been growing more distant." He made sure she was still chatting up Scarlet before continuing. "We should cover this more later, since it's actually pretty serious even if subdued for now. But... thanks. I'll take advantage of that call if I ever need, Dan."

Moving the close-knit party along, Charles eventually led them to the banquet hall for the first course. "So, before we hit dinner-proper at the Relorian embassy, any appetizers you have besides those oatcakes Christine is so nuts about?" He managed to return Pearce's humor in full, as well as in genuine interest after Vetakan cuisine since his own tastes were provincial in the extreme; even homely. Mostly varying grades of fish, meat or pasta, often quite unconventionally- and improvisationally-prepared aside from whatever basic cooking was required; very much the personal culinary style of a man who'd lived much of his adult life with only a tenuous supply of food, as when under combat conditions in the bush or else in the college dormitory environment. Without Christine, rumor went around in the Revolutionary Party's more gossip-prone circles that Charles would probably be dining in poverty; not that either of the couple indulged such speculation publicly of course...
