Imperial tankers look for PDW to serve in interim role as main side armament

The Fuermak, officially, has opened itself to bids for a contract to be given out for a foreign personal defense weapon. The chosen weapon will arm the Empire's tankers and will see immediate combat in the War of Golden Succession [OOC: Closing months, most likely]. The official dispatch has outlined certain requirements for this new weapon. These include:

- The weapon must be short enough to be easily pulled through a tank hatch. The length, in other words, must be around 50cm long (with the stock folded or completely not-extended).
- Lethality will be studied and has high priority.
- The gun must be accurate.

Contestants have been asked to submit eighty rifles (which will be paid for by the Fuermak) for each product. These will be studied in depth by the Ejermacht (Army) and a winner will be announced when the tests have been completed and the weapon of choice decided. The total amount that will be procured has not been announced yet, but the expected order is for around a million weapons - in other words, the order will be quite large. Furthermore, Fedala (Empire's capital city) has always had requirement for local production rights of all foreign weapons, so this too should be expected.

Greetings

Although the Empire of Charall XIII is still a small nation I believe a mutual arms agreement can help us both. Our scientists have been working on a new weapon from our Uranium Mining Ops. From reports on my desk the first prototype should be operational shortly. Please bear in mind that, as Charall XIII is a Anarchist Empire, only the scientist's that want to be there are there, "A man will fight more for his Interest than for his Ideals". If you are interested in Charall XIII new weapon please remain in contact.

Salutations,

News of the open contract from the Fuermak, given past RMSMC-Macabees interaction over the PLT-24 Amphibious Light Tank and widespread Russkyan admiration of the "Nakil" Main Battle Tank, has generated a large amount of interest.

One of the three weapons of the ERP07 family may be suitable for Fuermak use. Brief technical specifications are an overall length of 550mm, bullpup configuration, intermediate rifle round cartridge (7.62x39, 5.45x39, 6.5x40mm ARAM-CJk, or possibly rechambered for similar dimension (intermediate rifle) ammunition to make use of existing ammunition stocks. Capable of being fitted with a variety of optics and other fittings due to the 12 O'Clock, 3 O'Clock and 9 O'Clock position rails, a "balanced action" a'la AEK-971 and forward ejection a'la the FN F2000 round out the weapon.
Highly regarded by Russkyan tankers the weapon has been trialled with, preferred method of carry is strapped diagionally across the front of the torso, making it easy to enter / exit vehicles under combat stress, even when those vehicles are the comparatively more cramped Russo-Soviet designs. A number of these "Lapinkoira" weapons are already ready for shipping to Fuermak testing facilities with a supply of ammunition.

[OOC: Full specifications enroute to you, Mac, via telegram. Apologies for the shitty IC post. I am in a rush and want to get my "bid" in.]

Subject: PDW contract

Good evening,

After reviewing your requirements we do believe we have an excellent entry for your contract competition. The CPD series of Compact Sub-Machine guns has proven tis self several times in conflicts all around the globe. Utilizing single piece overbuilt and machined pieces in a lightweight reinforced polymer frame the CPD balances reliability with handiness, as its easy to pack, easy to carry and instinctive to use.

Though we are aware that many would rather trade lethality for Penetration and effective range our 7.95x30mm PDR round is heavier than most PDW rounds but produces excellent results in both lethality, and penetration. However many other options are available and conversion kits are readily available for several other foreign produced rounds allowing you to choose whether you prefer a true PDW or a Sub-machine gun, to better fit your tactical requirements.

Overview-
Developed originally for Special Strategic Services (S3) as a weapon for VIP protection, and later well known by F-33E (and later variant) pilots as a Escape and Evasion tool the AVA CPD Compact Personal Defense also widely known as 'cricket' by those who are familiar with its small 'hop' of muzzle climb. Though designed to be as compact as possible to be concealed or packed in with a specialists existing pack the cricket was designed for controllability, reliability and a decrease in moving parts.

Operation-
The cricket is a Double action Submachine gun utilizing a heavy unitary(single piece) bolt cammed to a rotating barrel using a single reinforced cam. The main spring is tensioned around the rotating barrel and stopped by the front part of the enveloping bolt. Its in this arrangement that the bolt is closer to a internal slide, than a traditional bolt. On firing the round is fired, the bolt being locked until the round cuts into the rifling rotating the barrel cam acting as an assist to the bolt allowing the combined force of recoil and the cams action to force the bolt back under control and assisting int he cases extraction. Bolt deceleration is assisted by the increasing tension on the spring due to its winding during the rotating action. After the round has exited the barrel, and the case ejected, the bolt moves forward the cam and spring acting as forward assist as ti strips a new round, chambers it and restarts the cycle.

Two things of note with its operation, and perhaps the reason the cricket has shown such success in an overcrowded market is that A) the center of balance remains primarily between the users hands decreasing the torque that the user experience during recoil, and B) the barrels rotation is Left and Down countering the weapons (and all primarily right handed weapons) natural muzzle climb of up and to the right, this use of counter torque techniques allow for a much reduced muzzle climb allowing more rounds on target and less stress on the firer.

Sights-
Full length M1913 rails are included on the spine, and forend of the weapon allowing for a multitude of accessory options. a groove runs the full length of the upper rail acting as a sight guide for reactionary shooting. Holo-sights and other see-through optics are encouraged to gain the best results from the weapon due tis short sight radius, however adjustable Diopter rear, and a hooded front sight allow for instinctive shooting without need for specialized optics.

I'm sorry for wasting your time, we have voluntarily withdrawn our entrant, realizing several flaws in the design, and would prefer to fully redesign the weapon than provide a substandard firearm to fulfill your contract. If you are still interested in the design, although judging from the current caliber of entrants this is unlikely, we can provide the updated model. For the time being, we will finalize and refinish the design.

Thank you for any consideration you may have made towards this weapon.

EDIT- OOC- I realized several flaws in the design and am sorry I wasted your time with it, I will attempt to fix the numerous flaws, none of which was my rather poor drawing. Thank you for any consideration you may have made towards this weapon.

EDIT2-OOC- In the event you are still interested, here's a heavily revised one. I believe it is still rough, and I know my artwork is poor but bear with me.

Western Armaments Model Seven Personal Defense Weapon (M7 PDW)

The Western Armaments Model Seven personal defense weapon served as the export successor to the Model Six personal defense weapon. The Model Six, although termed as a Personal Defense Weapon within the Western Motors Defense Forces, wasn’t much of a PDW in terms of export capability. The export market expected a weapon providing small size, short range, ability to punch through average body armor, and general usefulness. The M6 was partially some of all of those but it was generally believed to be too bulky to be a true personal defense weapon, with most of its users considering it to be, instead, a carbine rifle, only further compounded by the fact that it used a ‘shortened’ rifle round as its primary caliber.

The Model Seven sought to create a personal defense weapon more suitable for the export market, yet still offering several M6-like features. Eventually, however, the Model Seven became a whole, separate design in and of itself. To accompany the new design was a new chambering and round, which would eventually also enter service in the Western Motors Defense Forces, particularly, alongside the crews of MCA-7C Timber Wolf tanks and most logistical components of the Defense Forces.

The Model Seven provides the user with a simple, reliable weapon. The exterior shell is composed of a tough, texture plastic, while all interior components are machined steel and aluminum. To field strip the weapon, two pins (accessible from the left side, one in the forward portion of the weapon, the other just behind the magazine well) must be removed (alternatively, partial field stripping can be accomplished by only releasing one or the other pin depending on which portion of the weapon you wish to access). The upper receiver, and rear of the weapon, can then be completely removed from the lower receiver and forward portion of the weapon (including the trigger components, etc.). A small cleaning and maintenance kit is held within a small storage area within the rear portion of the weapon between the magazine well and the extendable butt stock (only accessible via field strip). In its most basic form, the Model Seven is exceedingly short, offering very little space forward of the trigger assembly, although with an extended barrel and rail interface system, enough space for a hand guard, or vertical grip, or any other rail system can be added. A standard top mounted rail system comes standard with foldable, removable rear and forward iron sights. A carrying handle or any other addition such as a reflex sight, optical gun sight, etc. can be added to the rail system.

Instead of the prior 6x36mm Western Armaments Short round used previously (the chambering is still available as an offering), the Model Seven is chambered in 5x31mm Granger with a thirty grain armor piercing bullet (among other bullet designs). The five millimeter shorter casing, and full millimeter smaller round results in a faster velocity, greater accuracy, but reduced knock-down ability (sacrificed to allow for sufficient punch-through ability on armor).
