A nebula invaded (Open, Intro)

Battlestar group 24

OOC: Ok, This is the intro to my battlestar Star gate hybrid nation. History simply put when the battlestar group and its small fleet of escapee's left the colonys they ended up in a nebula near a minor Goauld's planet. Over the course of a decade the fleet stole and scavenged several pieces of technology, namly Pulse DEW's, Shields and Naquada generators from Hatak class vessels. However, now the Goauld are gone, and the Lusian alliance have begun moving in on the Nebula and the many colonial life boats ships and stations that are within it. Thier only defene are the Four Mercury class Battlestars of group 24, The Zeus, The Atalanta, The Cybele and The Bellerophon.

IC:
Admiral Karth, Commander of the Battlestar Zeus lay asleep, his dreams filled withe the haunting images of a decade ago, when his group had returned to Picon ship yards for a refit, only to find the shipyard in ruins and Cylone's everywhere. He remembered watching as several unarmed resupply and refueling ships were blown to pieces by the Cylone Basestars, and remembered the garbbled plea's of the ships he had left behind when he ordered his group to jump back out of the system.

The Admiral woke with a start, sweat driping from his brow. Quickly he dressed and headed for the CIC to check on the latest battle reposts.

For over ten years now the 24th Battlestar group and the few civilian ships that they had managed to find has stayed hidden in this nebula, Named New picon in honor of the colony. For years now they had survived by raiding ships flowing to and from a near by planet, after they witnessed it being conquered by an unknown force. slowly they had acumulated technology from the wreaks of ships that they had destroyed, and from whole ships that had been captured by Raptor strike teams.

Eventually they had made a deal with the planet's leader, access to blueprints to weapon technolgy, in exchange for a stop on pirate activitys. Now though, all that had changed. The old leadership had been wiped out by a Group calling them selves the Lusian alliance, a group of humans who seemed to be an affiliation of criminal groups instead of a nation.

When the alliance had found out what was inside the nebula they had sent the colonials an utimatum, ether surender and join the alliance, or be brutally crushed. The colonials answer was to turn several alliance millitary bses and shipyards into blast glass. War had followed soon after.

Now the Colonials had reached thier last stand. For months the four Battlestars had been slowly retreating further and further into the nebula, destroying Hatak after Hatak of theenemys, only to see it be replaced within hours. Now all that stood between the alliance and the weakly defended colony stations was a battlestars, and today the alliance would make thier final push. Today would mark the end of the war, and possible the end of the Colonial culture.

Karth soon reached the CIC, noting how his officers seemed to have missed the 8 hours of sleep he had ordered them to get before the final push by the alliance. Sighing he headed over to hi XO, Commander Tiber. "Anything to report" Asked the Admiral, viewing the computer generated battlemap before him. "Nothing as of yet Sir" Said Tiber, turning to view the map as well "So far the alliance hasn't attempeted to make a dash across the line, were just trading shots with each other, but the shields are absorbing everything they throw at us so far. The Atalanta, Cybelle and Bellerophon are all reporting similar situations, and we've already had to swap the Alert Viper pilots twice because we haven't needed fighter support."
"Good, Hopefully they'll keep this up until the tech boyshave finsihed fitting those FTL drives to the stations, thier's no way they can survive an attack, and we won't last long if they do charge us." Said Karth, before turning to view the large digital clock on the wall. We have to hold out three more hours before we can jump he thought Or else all is lost.

Several moments in time have a severe impact on the state of any nation. None have learned this lesson more than the Twelve Colonies of Kobal. At the end of the second cylon war, the Colonies found their most valued ally, the ally that brought the cylons to their knees and forced them to rejoin the colonies, the Rebellion. Since that day, the colonies had been ever expanding. Kobal was rediscovered, and a new base was set up on the original planet of humanity, the home of the gods. Yet at the moment, the Scrolls of Pythia remained untrue. There was yet ot be a price to be paid for in blood. Yet...

As the Twelve Colonies continued to search for new planets and resources, due to the threat of outside invasion, fate brought a single ship to the most unusual meeting that would occur.

The Battlestar Mercury, Pegasus, and Triton jumped. Against the backdrop of space, three battlestars appeared into existance.

The Mercury began to takle the lead, scanning the nebula as well as the surrounding space.

Admiral Jenkins, "Any draidus contacts?"

None sir, so far no planetary bodies, and no astroid fields. The only thing within draidus contact is a nebula.

Admiral Jenkins replied, "Great, launch several raptors to jump around the surrounding area. Perhaps they will pick up something that we have not yet seen.

Yes sir.

This is Mercury Actual, to the Pegasus and Triton. Launch the search raptors to scout out the surrounding area.

Moments later 24 Mark II Raptors launched out of the flight pods of the three battlestars. Although these ships did have alien upgrades, for the most part they looked exactly like the original Raptor. They flew by the battlestars gracefully, and vanished in white light.

From across the battle line the alliance made thier end game move. Forming all thier ships into a wedge then accelerated towards the center of thebattlestars line formation, aiming for the space inbetween Zues and Cybelle, all guns blazing. Group after group of gliders were launched infront of the capital ship formation, attempting to distract the Battlestars to allow the cap ships through.

The Battlestars attempted to counter, moving round so that they formed a cresent, firing off everything they had, and launching thier alert Vipers. desperatly trying to force the alliance ships to retreat or even slow down. Slowly though, it became apparent that thier would be no stopping them with thier noramal DEW systems. In a last ditched effort to stop the advancing ships Admiral Karth ordered all Battlestars to launch thier enchanced Nuclaer warheads.

The Nukes hit the lead ship in the formation, and the two that followed it, shattering thier shields and vaporising thier hulls in blinding flash's. The resulting preasure waves carried through the nebula, knocking the entire alliance formation apart.

The Colonials had managed to buy themsleves sometime, but not much. The shockwave had caused damage to all of the Battlestars, and EMP waves had knocked out several systems. The Cybelle was effectivly dead in the water, with only her weapons and life suppost systems functioning. The shockwave had also scattered the Vipers through out the nebula, and several had ether run out of fuel attempting to return to base, or been disabled by the EMP. Those that were still ative now had to face a renewed attack form alliance gliders.

Across the entire fleet prayers to the Lords of Kobol could be heard, asking for salvation, or a quick death. Little did they know that Salvation was on its way...

OOC: Cool, Firefly is like my third favorate SciFi, Wish i owned the serenity :(. Anyway, feel free to post, though my friend Giza is going to be the one pulling off the whole "save the fleet" thing, ok?

Sir we are picking up a contact on draidus

Admiral Jenkins, "What this area is supposed to be uninhabited?"

Admiral we are not picking up any ships, but we are picking up the background radiation of nuclear weapons inside the nebula.

"Set condition one, and launch the vipers." The admiral stated, with confidence. If someone was here, and they were engaged in battle, he was determined to find out who they were."

Commander Hilco responded nervously, "Sir should we enter into a battle situation with an unknown enemy. We might be drawing the colonies into a conflict that we do not need to be involved in."

Admiral Jenkins responded, "You have your orders." in an angry tone, as he glared at the commander. ENgage the holo cloak and take us in. Load the cannons with the EMB. Tell the Pegasus and Triton to prepare salvo fire and to cloak."

Yes sir

This is Mercury actual, set condition one. You are ordered to engage the holo cloak and prepare for combat this is not a drill.

The three massive battlestars began to shimmer into the backdrop of space, mimicing the enviroment perfectly. THe mark VIII vipers took off and soon vanished into nothingness. As the fleet vanished it began to move into the nebula, unaware of the surprises that awaited them.

OOC: it is fine if he saves you. I am in this as more of a shock to my society than anything else.

It was in 2007 that Stargate Command first noticed the sporadic energy bursts emanating from a nondescript nebula in a far-off corner of the galaxy, and even beyond the UN takeover, Earth had a wide variety of equipment watching the nebula. Unfortunately, the Ori War interrupted the first attempt to send a ship there when the BC-304 Brandenberg was intercepted and destroyed en route to the nebula. Throughout the war, there simply weren't enough resources to justify pulling a ship off the line to investigate. With the event of victory on the Coreward Front, Earth could focus on reconstruction and once more return to functioning as explorers and scientists. Finally, in 2017, the enhanced BC-303 Lord Nelson was tasked with investigating the nebula, and the source of the mysterious energy emissions. The ship was running with a skeleton crew and held no F-302 fighters. Lord Nelson was under the command of Wing Commander Sir John Baines, one of the few surviving veteran officers of the Ori War and a former F-302 pilot. Hi ship was somewhat unique, as it was refitted for mainly scientific and exploratory work, equipped with a wide variety of equipment designed to monitor new and unfamiliar phenomena. All but two of the ship's railguns were replaced with extra sensor dishes, and one of the two Asgard energy beam weapons was removed and replaced with a probe-launching device that could double at a stretch as a missile tube.

The Lord Nelson left Earth orbit completely unsuspecting of the situation in the nebula. At most the scientists on board expected to find some kind of wormhole or a new kind of storm. Nobody suspected a thing until they were within two minutes of arriving. The CO was on the bridge with the rest of the bridge crew, staring at the sensor screens.

"Crewman Jones, do those readings look familiar to you?"

Jones stared at the screen, a short red-faced little man who was on the crew because of a reccomendation by a high-ranking Giza official rumoured to be distantly related to him.

"Not at all sir, I can't say they do."

"If you'd payed attention during your training you'd know that those readings are consistent with exchanges of weapons-fire. There appears to be a substantial number of Ha'tak warships firing on three or four large ships of an unknown design. See if you can't search the database for Free Jaffa or Lucian Alliance tags."

Jones fumbled around with the controls of the panel in front of him, until the officer standing behind him pushed him aside and expertly tapped on a few keys, bringing up details on one of the ships. The officerlooked up at the commander, who had got out of his chair and walked to the back of the bridge to Jones' console.

"Most of those ships appear to be brand new, sir, not on the database, but one of the ships has been positively identified as Hostile 115, encountered a few weeks ago by a Free Jaffa trader headed for Chulak."

"ETA?"

""Thirty seconds, sir."

"Send the following message in text format to the Lucian warships:"

Lucian Alliance warships, this is the Earth ship Lord Nelson, advising you to stand down and cease fire. If you do not halt your attack by the time we arrive, you will be designated hostile and engaged accordingly, without quarter.

When Lord Nelson left hyperspace a little under a minute later, the Earth ship got its answer. Before shields could be raised, several staff cannon blasts disabled one of the sublight engines and caused significant damage to the advanced sensors. Shields were raised before further damage could be done, and soon the staff blasts were harmlessly impacting on the shields given to Earth by the Asgard as their final legacy. Baines was back in his seat, barking out orders within seconds of the first shots being fired.

"Railguns, target enemy death gliders and fire at will, fire the beam weapon at the enemy starting with Hostile 115 then target and fire at will!"

"Sir, the enemy has too many death gliders. We won't be able to hold them off on our own, even with the asgard shielding we'll be overwhelmed eventually."

"What about the unidentified craft? Do they have anything that could help?"

"We have detected a number of fast fighter craft in the area."

"Open up a channel. Unidentified ships: this is the Earth vessel Lord Nelson, requesting any help you can give us in holding off the enemy fighters. We can pick off their capital ships one by one but we don't have the right weapons to hit fighters, so I repeat, please help us in any way you can in destroying their fighters."

The Asgard beam weapon was taking a terrible toll in Lucian Alliance lives. The Goa'Uld shields simply couldn't hold up agains the formidable blue bolts of energy that could cut through Ha'tak like a hot knife through butter. It wouldn't be long before the capital line crumbled, but the Lord Nelson was taking damage from the sheer volume of fire coming from enemy fighters. Without adequate point defense or fighters of its own, the Earth ship was a sitting duck for the nimble Goa'uld ships.

In short, sorry :(

OOC: I have consulted with Giza, and feel free to bring in your Ori puppet, though be aware that Giza will likly open fire on you, and I would look up on the BC-305....

IC: In the CIC of the Zeus the entire group was silent with shock. An Earth vessel had come to thier rescue....the 13th tribe was real.. Finally, Karth came to his sences and grabbed the near by short range comms unit. "This is Battlestar Zeus Actualto Earth vessel, transmission understood, we are launching reserve squadrens to assist, Zeus actual out." he said, before turning to the rest of his stunned bridge crew. "Don't just stand thier, launch every Viper we have, and tell the The Atalanta, Cybelle and Bellerophon to do the same."

From each of the four Battlestars a new fresh squadren of Vipers was launched, the last chance. The quickly headed towards the Earth vessel, buzzing around its perimeter. The Vipers soon started to pick the slower less manuverable Death gliders one by one, slowly wiping out the vast number of gliders before they could so serious damage to the Earth cap ship.

As the battlestar group moved into the nebula, multiple draidus contacts appeared.

Admiral Multiple Draidus contacts on bearing 128 mark 102, mark 96. Sir, some of them appear to be battlestar configurations, yet they do not have colonial transponders.

Admiral Jenkins responded, "Are their transponders on record?"

No sir, but they also apprear to be using the older version, of vipers the Mark VII.

Admiral Jenkins responded, "That is odd, but it is not the first time that an alien race has had a similiar design to ours. Open a channel to the alien ships."

This is Admiral Jenkins, Commander of BSG 32 of the Twelve Colonies of Kobal to all unidentified ships. Please identify yourselves and explain what is going on.

As the message is sent out, the three Mercury Class battlestars decloak in the nebula. Moments later over 600 Mark VIII vipers and 200 Mark II Raptors decloak in a defensive formation around the three battlestars.

"Lord Nelson to Zeus actual, thank you for your assistance. The Lucian Alliance capital ships will be dealt with shortly. Send our compliments to your fighter pilots."

The Lucian line was falling apart, and the volume of return fire was diminishing rapidly as the Ha'taks were picked off one by one by the single powerful beam weapon mounted on the science ship. The fate of the Lucian forces was sealed by the co-operation of Colonial and Tau'ri forces.

The crew of the Lord Nelson were incredibly surprised when a large force of ships just appeared out of thin space in a protective pattern around the assailed battlestars. When the transmission from the newcomers was recieved, Baines opened a channel almost immediately, calmed himself down, and started talking.

"This is Wing Commander Baines of the starship Lord Nelson, representing the United Nations Giza Council, here originally to investigate an unknown phenomenon but now aiding the unidentified craft. Our intentions are peaceful, we are merely curtailing the aggressive actions of a large criminal syndicate."

More OOCery: I'm confident that they'd win (http://www.nationstates.net/92404/page=display_nation/nation=the_orii). Of course, in their continuity, no one's actually informed them that there's beings outside their own little galaxy, yet, and thus they have no navy...

...Though if either of you are interested in poking a sleeping giant in the eye, I'm up for it. I have my own little slant on the Orii concept.

Admiral Karth was mpments away from responding to the Earth vessel when his DRADIS officer interupted him. "Sir, I'm picking up three large vessels appearing in the battle field. This launching fighters to assist with the battle." he said. The Admiral quickly turned round to speak to ask the officer what the transponders showed when a message came through over the radio. This is Admiral Jenkins, Commander of BSG 32 of the Twelve Colonies of Kobal to all unidentified ships. Please identify yourselves and explain what is going on.

Thier was several minutes of stunned scilence across the entire 24th battlestar group, before Admiral Karth finally picked up the transmitter and sent a reply. "This is Admiral Karth of the Battlestar Zeus, group command ship of BSG 24 to hailing ship, please repeat, did you just say you were BSG 32? Zeus actual out."

"Sir we are recieving a transmission from the unknown battlestars. They wish for us to repeat our BSG designation.

Admiral Jenkins picked up the com.

This is Mercury Actual, to the ship claiming to be the Battlestar Zeus. Yes this is BSG 32. I am Admiral Jenkins, on board the Battlestar Mercury. We were sent by the Quorum of the Twelve Colonies of Kobal. We were scouting out the area when we came across the battle. Thank the gods you are alright, our records show that your BSG was destroyed over Picon during the second cylon war. How in the hell did you survive and how long have you been out here? Do you require assistance?

Admiral Jenkins looked at the crew in the CIC, "Miracles never cease, target the lead attack vessels and begin to open fire. Tell the Vipers to target the fighters only and leave the motherships to us."

As the transmission ends, the three Battlestars begin to open fire on the Jaffa ships. All of their massive cannons begin to pound away at their shields, as the blue beams from the EMB shells begin to dissolve the enemy shields. Soon the vipers begin to swarm the enemy death gliders, with exceptional manuverability, and firepower. Cannons and shells streak across the sky, filling the void with their deadly power.

(OOC: BSG 24, please forgive the short post. I am at work now so I do not have much time. It looks like we are recreating the Pegasus episode :) I can not wait for you to find out the colonies still exist and are flourishing. )
