Auto Racing: OOC Interest Thread

Anyone interested in an auto racing RP? We would have our own drivers, cars, sponsors, etc. Not sure how to RP a race, was hoping for ideas. Anyone can have a track in their nation, and any storefront can be a sponsor.

OCC: I'm always in support of international mingling that does not require a military force of 80 million in order to get somewhere.

I can open up a track in Lorkhan. In terms of how we'd go about it, perhaps we can have several drivers representing their own nations similar to the way they do it in the World Cup. In terms of RPing the race, we might not even have to RP it. We can always release articles that summarize the race in a page or two.

We can open up a track in Calizorinstan if you wish us too. I am game for an Auto Racing RP.

I'd certainly be interested; I'd probably enter a circuit/track in VL, plus I'd enter my own team. What would I have to think of? Formula 1, A1 GP, WTCC, DTM? Something US, like Nascar?

I'd be game for an RP like that, and you could use some tracks in BL.

Can I be a sponsor?

How about this for starters. Those who want in, list all that apply to you:

Nation Name
Track Info - name, location, type(tri-oval, superspeedway, road course, etc), length
Driver Info - Name, number, team, car, sponsor

The tracks can be any type or length. I'd like to see different kinds, not all the same. Be creative, with an image if you want. Same for the driver. Use a RL car, or a NS car. Please stick with some sort of production vehical, not a made-for-racing-only car. Just as long as a street-legal version is on sale in your nation. Oh, and you don't have to have a driver and a track, only one is ok. Feel free to suggest any other ideas.

I would like to know what engine for the car, etc. I don't want to field a 2-litre 4-cilinder, while the rest fields a V8. Anyways:

Track 1
Nürburgring-Nordschleife, Nürburg, Van Luxemburg, Purpose-built Racetrack, 22.810 Km
Image (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/98/Nordschleife.png)

(yup, it's a real life one. That's because VL is basically a copy of Europe. Regular Nürburgring history applies. I my change this one to a fictive one.)

Track 2
Kreuzbad, Kreuzbad, Kreuzbadinsel, Van Luxemburg, Street course, TBD
Image: TBD

(Imaginary one, which will be like Monaco. I'll have to make the plans for it.)

Driver 1
Daniel Baer, no. 12, VLT Automotive, Monteluci Duca 4.4 V8, VLT Automotive Group N.V. (Factory team)

Maybe a second driver, to complete my team. TBD.

Oh, for the record, Some time ago, I have been working on a Race class myself. It was originally menat as the Van Luxemburgian National Sport, or something like that, but anyways. I named it Fastrack, due to a lack of imagination at that time, I couldn't find a good name.

The series were based around street-legal cars, with a maximum engine size of 3500 cm3, and a maximum of 6 cilindres, in V-formation. The races would take place on stretches of public road, temporarily locked down for the public. It includes parts of B-roads, but also strecthes of motorways, on which speeds over 250 km/h could be achieved. I never really started it, but I'm presuming that these series already run in VL. So, that also makes that VLT has got some experience in making those vehicles (or could use their Fastrack vehicle)

Sorry, I was thinking of using V8's, for the power, and because I like them ;). I also thought about using any track type, from road courses, street courses, speedways, etc. It will make things more interesting. Oh, and before anyone else takes it, here is one of the tracks in my nation, the primary track:

Daytona International Speedway (http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h52/nx9100/daytona.gif)
Daytona, capital city
2.5 mile super-speedway
Pan-Arab Barronia

No problem. Any limitations on engine size? 4000 cm3? 5000cm3?

Ideas for my vehicles to be used (I'll pick one of the three):

VLT L4 Coupé GT 4.4 V8 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12494568&postcount=6)
VLT L5 GT 4.4 V8 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12494571&postcount=7)
Monteluci Duca (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12497760&postcount=13) (I'll need to develop a racing-only V8 for that)

UPDATE:

Track 2
Kreuzbad, Kreuzbad, Kreuzbadinsel, Van Luxemburg, Street course, ~20 Km

As for engine size, I'm not sure. I'd like to leave it open to most types of V8 racing motors, and am open to suggestions on how to limit engine size. My main car entry is below:

T&M Racing, two-car team
#9 Plymouth Superbird / 426 HEMI crate motor / driver, T. Romano / sponsor, Plymouth
#3 Chevy Chevelle SS / 502 big block / driver, M. Savickas / sponsor, Coca-Cola

So, this league is basically going to be like NASCAR?
Van Luxemburg
10-06-2007, 20:37
My decision has fallen, Daniel Baer, and a yet to be named driver will be driving with a Monteluci Duca, using the VLT 4.4 V8 engine with 450 PS. Monteluci had a long and extensive racing history in the early 20th century, and they still drive in the VL Fastrack now.

I was going to keep the name NASCAR, unless something better comes up. Unlike RL NASCAR, I wanted different kinds of cars, just as long as they're in production in your nation. Plus, different kinds of tracks will keep it more interesting.

VL, I'll change it to a Mustang, sorry about that, I just realized it, after I hit post. Sorry about that, I'll edit it now.

Calizorinstan, how about a Viper V10, but remove 2 cylinders to make it a V8? Or, a HEMI-powered Viper? As a Viper fanatic, that'd be very cool. ;)

I'm starting a list of drivers, cars, and tracks. will post in a bit.

What are the max engine dimensions?

I might submit something here.
StockCar Auto Racing
10-06-2007, 21:13
Right now, I'm thinking any stock V8, as smaller engines can out-perform larger ones with the right tuning and in the right car. If someone wants to recomend a size limit that doesn't disqualify already posted entries, I'm open to ideas. If not, then any stock V8.

While the arrogant drivers of GTR refuse to race speedways and circular tracks (they claim its a test of the car and pit crew and not the driver), two are willing to race on any road courses of this league. While racing in GTR is centered around rally racing, and sports cars are rare in the depressed market of the Commonwealth, we've developed two high-powered cars for the league.

We're also putting up one of our tracks for use.

Nation Name
Track Info - Sondaican Hi-Power ThousandKlick, the outskirts of Sondaica, a tight road course, riddled with hairpins and high-banked turns, mixed with narrow straight-aways, 7.4 KM

Driver Info - Adam Hayes, 8, GTR NATIONAL, Amoyensis Windwalker V8, CIHL (Commonwealth International Hockey League. Hockey is also one of the largest moneymakers in the Commonwealth.)

I must be interested in becoming involved, but I am still unclear on how the races themselves will be RPed - each and every RPer posting in sequence seems like it would take forever and be terribly boring, so I would think that predetermined race outcomes with some RPing from those involved would be best, but I'm not sure if we'd be able to agree on something like that. Any ideas on how to work out the races themselves? Lorkhan's idea sounds interesting, but seems like it wouldn't have too much RP involvement.

Something like a scorinator that NS Sports rps use would be good. I used to have one, but never figured out how to use it.

As for RP'ing a race, I'm open to suggestions. I wanted to start a racing RP, but wasn't sure how to RP it. Any ideas?

I agree with The Candrian Empire. We should use a scorinator. However, I've got no idea how to work such a thing and how to get one.

Btw, I've changed the number of my car.
