OOC: Here is my idea for a new RP idea I have come up. I can explain more about the characters if you need some more information. Also, here is a website that talks about the main character: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flashman

In the 1800's, a British colonel named Harry Flashman is fighting the Sepoys in the famous 1857 Rebellion, when he is suddenly encased in a flash of light and vanishes. He finds himself in 21st century America, where he begins to see that America has changed since he was around (in the "Flashman" series, he visits America)

He meets two young high school students who were testing a machine they invented that could bring book characters to the present day. Flashman begins to adapt to American life, but finds that things are different, such as "Vicky" (Queen Victoria) having been deceased for years, people know about his exploits through the "Flashman" book series, and other things.

Flashman does not have his wife, Elspeth, with him, as she is back in the book, nor does he have his children. After some time in America, he goes back to Victorian Britain.

This is a idea I came up with just recently. I am thinking of using other characters from books or real life people. If you have any suggestions, then just tell me about them. Thank you for your time in reading this.

OOC: I will be playing as Flashman, but I need others to play as the students and other characters. You can make your own characters if you want to.

OOC: I guess it does. For example, if you placed Tom Sawyer in the machine, it will spawn Tom Sawyer. The "physical form" is what they look like in the book, I guess.

OOC: You are not being rude. Here is a description:

The Character Generator 1000 is the first of its kind. You have to hook it up to a computer, where you operate it (comes with a CD). If it says: "You need to insert (name of book)", it means you may not have the book in yet. After making sure the book is correct and so on, you press OK and the Generator will spawn out the character, you can see the form being created, and after it is done, the Machine will say "Complete".

So theroeticly, we could put in say, a Harry Potter book, and pop's Potter himself? That'd be fun :p

I suppose that's what would happen, but this doesn't center around Harry Potter. Besides that, couldn't the antagonists of the stories be released too? Could be dangerous.

First, a little chaos never hurt anyone, much! So that could be fun.

Second, sticking with the Harry Potter semi-theme, wands of the released characters, the Mirror of Erised(sp?), or (streaching out into other books) super-computers, vehicles, or other such objects.

The character, Flashman, originally came from "Tom Brown's School Days" by Thomas Hughes. He was a cruel and selfish bully at an English public school, who "got a girl into trouble" and became the enemy of (among others) the book's hero (Tom Brown, funnily enough).

"Flash" was resurrected by George Macdonald Fraser, using the premise that, although he remained something of a rogue into middle age, the villain of Hughes's classic work eventually became a true hero, partly through bravery, partly through luck and mainly because he was reshaped by his experiences. I think there are about fifteen books in the series.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to either (a) put the old (heroic) Flashman in an American high school (except as a teacher, perhaps) or (b) make the young Flashman a hero, which he certainly wasn't.

OOC: As for putting them back in the book, you need to get them into a part of the Machine, the "De-Generator". It will transport them back. You do not have to kill them.

Flashman could get hired as a teacher in the school. I do not think that would be a problem, a Victorian British colonel teaching 21st century American students could be interesting.

OOC: Who is "not that strong" exactly?

Also, Flash could be a teacher or simply be with no profession. He could simply experience the 21st century, far different from Victorian Britain. Flashman could even read the series about him. I may either keep Flashman or use another character. If this RP goes well, we could do others with the "Machine Kids".

Not "who," "what". I was talking about the welding torch (if you go back to my first post, you'll se where I'm draging it up from). They definatly pack a punch (220 volts of punch) but this is one tool that isn't very deadly unless you're grounded. I was going back to how to put them in the book. I suppose I should have made things a bit more clear.

Just let one Muggle see that and watch the color drain from their face. Wait. If we could, why not bring Weasley's Wizard Wheezes out into the muggle world? It fits in with either the Ney York crowd or the small town obscurity!

Ya, we're forgetting them in our posts, but Ron and Hermonie actually seem semi-normal. And it's not like we don't know Hagrid's response to being in London. But I think they're still going to get in somehow. Draco might stand out, and Dumbledore wouldn't care what people say. Oh wait, everyon'e read book 6 by now, right?

OOC: I never thought about changing personalities. We could try that, but perhaps we could stick to the "default" personalities for the characters, so we could, perhaps, have feuds, etc.

Try great things. Back in book one to quote the almighty wand maker "...great things - terrible, yes, but great." So I'll use great things in Olivander's terms.

I have nightmares about Grawp. Besides, if the brute can do that to a tree, what can he do to Times Square?

Well, I am not in a convienent place to use MSN, iChat or AIM right now, sorry Syl.

I don't know, but you guys seem to be closer to the main server than I am. I'm WAY behind and my posts make no sense. How does everyone feel about using an IM client like MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger, or AIM? It's instant, we can have a 3 way chat, and we won't get as lost.
