It's a huge target, it's slow, it's too cheap to be good... and there's nothing talking about its armour (or lack thereof).
No thanks. I'll stick with my drones and my specialist heli-vehicles.

Only if you steal designs from other NS'ers. Of course, C&P from Wiki is looked down upon.

OOC: But if they're that cheap, it means there was probably either shoddy construction involved or cheap and unreliable parts.

Too late.
The Atopian Ministry of Trade has just shipped 1,000 Mi-24s with spare parts, ammunition, maintainence manuals, pilot handbooks and the like to the Cazelian capital.
You've been outbid. You offer Mi-24s (renamed) at 450K each, Atopiana offered the Cazelians 1,000 Mi-24s for free.

I fail to see why anyone cares it's a rename since many other people just use real life stuff flat out.

Because we don't pretend it's something that it's not.
OOC: Still, you could just play along and buy the things for target practice. They are rather cheap. Heck, if you get tired of them, scrap them for parts to use against Hataria. How's that for irony?

General Resources - Defense Industries Division
Any nation that purchases a GNA-70 Gunship, is entitled to a free Mi-24PN which is a modified version of the Mi-24 Hind with modern Leafanistani made quality avionics, countermeasures electronic and flare/chaff, a new rotor from the Mi-28 and FLIR/IR cameras, provided they send us the GNA-70, in a 1:1 ratio. Those gunships will be scrapped and rebuilt into something worthy of gracing the skies.
This is a gift from our government and a way to promote our storefront.
Limit 20,000 per nation.

"They say nobody takes Hatarian military designs seriously. I believe it, given that they've gone through walkin' tanks and nitrogen bombs. Still, though, this helo was pretty damn cheap; were the Hatarians really tryin' to go bankrupt or somethin'? I wondered, I did. So me and a few buddies from the 114th [Helicopter Squadron], we pooled our money and bought one of them, plus ammo and supplies.
"You have to give it to the Hatarians... this time, they built somethin' that actually works. The helo flies, it shoots at things; we even took down some guy's hang glider. The bomb pylons ejected the dummies we'd stuck in there; we didn't have the money left for real bombs. Problem is, first off, it's really slow. Which, for a helo, is a big no-no; especially given that it's not even that large, we've seen twenty k-ton helos that go faster. Thus it's not big enough to hold that much ordnance, and it's slow... flyin' this baby in a warzone 'd be a death sentence. Second, the tech looks like it's years old. It's tough to use, inefficient, and totally outclassed by just about everythin' we've used before.
"In short, yeah, it provides good fire support... if you're flyin' F-4s or Migs. Against proper modern fighters it won't stand a chance. You can buy 'em if you want, but I wouldn't bother; plenty of better helos out there that do everythin' this 'un does, except about three times as good. And yeah, it's cheap, but at these prices you can expect the company sellin' them to go out of business within weeks."
"Overall rating: C-minus."

OOC: And how would you rate the Mi24?
Hataria, the fact you copy-pasted the Mi-24 straight here and renamed it is bad enough. But why the Mi-24? In my opinion it is a dreadful gunship, there are so many better gunships out there for you to nick- why do you chose this Eastern European garbage?
Leafanistan

OOC: And how would you rate the Mi24?
The Mi-24 Hind, anything pre-24V is obsolete, easily destroyed by Stingers because it had no countermeasures, and an unarmored tail section, and if the tail is destroyed, the copter goes out of control.
Newer Mi-24s, -24Vs and onward have countermeasures, better armor, fixed landing gear, new rotors, but overall the Mi-24 is a hybrid transport and attack helicopter. This isn't suitable against a well armed enemy with easy access to MANPADS. It is not manuverable enough to serve as a front-line attack gunship.
As an armed ambulance, or a counter-insurgency aircraft it excels at this purpose, and most of its use was for this purpose. Even Saddam, who kept his tanks as stationary turrets WWI style twice, knew that the Hind wasn't good against the Americans and sent them into hiding to suppress a rebellion during the first Gulf War and the second one sent the Hinds over to Iran.
It is heavily armed, capable of self-reloading, has a large cargo capacity, and can carry troops as door gunners. With its thick armor capable of resisting .50 cal fire, versus an insurgent army such as the RUF, it can easily tear through them.
For a cheap gunship, the AH-1 Cobra and Supercobra or even a specialized Mi-8 will be less of a target than the Mi-24.
