The Confederacy of Southern Delesa
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/southern_delesa.jpg

The time was ripe, the government under heavy stresses, as well the Commonwealth expanding, meant that the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth were stretched thin.

Now back in 1809, a bunch of men got together. These men were very educated, the cream of the crop from their respective occupations. Now these separatists had started a war that might convince the Delesian government to give up land for this new country. At first the victories came easy at first, and instead of stopping with the land they had, they continued and pressed the assault. But in 1811, after a massive naval battle one that would crown the ruler of the seas, the Separatists suffered huge losses at the hands of the better trained and equipped Royal Navy. After that loss, the Delesian government controlled the seas. With massive reserves now being brought up from the northern islands, the Separatists were in a tight spot. They attempted a cease-fire, but the King was enraged at the sudden attack and surprise, we would not listen. He knew he held the better cards. The Separatist Armies that were on the main island were cut off from their supplies. Most surrendered to the first officer of the Royal Army spotted. Some tried to flee on what ever was available, but they were caught, or killed in the cross fire of the Royal Navy ships.

The garrisons in the province of Quebec surrender upon the arrival of the Royal Fleet in the harbors. But the week before, massive amounts of men were able to catch a ride with the fleeing Kreatvye navy back to King Victor Island.

The king began his campaign to retake the island with a 2-week bombardment of Ursea and Port Hustlings. Then the force landed. The entrenched defenders repelled the attack on Port Hustlings. Bodies littered the beaches; massive amounts of supplies and men were lost in the battle. But at Ursea the Army was able to push back the defenders far enough to bring in the Cavalry and Artillery. Then instead of separating the armies between Ursea and Port Hustlings, all armies that were committed to the campaign were landed at Ursea and the push east began. The rest they say is history.

Now after 192 years, the hopes and dreams of those original 5 men came true. Believers in the Separatists gathered all forces and huge funds from the National Bank and headed south and established a new country, The Confederacy of Southern Delesa.

Lester Geddie and the King could not believe that it had happened right before their eyes. Men that had been once thought to be loyal betrayed and stole gold and funds from the Commonwealth. The two would net let it stand, and war was on the horizon.

With the President Robert L. Grant as the leader, will this nation prosper, or will it fall with the help of the United Commonwealth.

That was a bit of background information, now this is kinda a sign-up but its ather just open to good RPers and nations I have RP with before.

Now just a note, the Confederacy is nothing like the United States Confeds, they have no similar ideals or policies, i just like the Name Confederacy, and the modified flag looks sweet.

Its kinda obvious that me or the Commonwealth is going to fight the Confederacy, first they stole money and gold from the National Bank, military equipment, nukes that my nation 'never' had in the first place, secrets and scientists.

Any questions can and will be anwsered :P

Given that your nation is currently operating a peacekeeping force in the neighboring nation of Khuzav at the request of the Kilrany goverment, and doing rather well I might add, heh, I see Kilrany coming into play here, they'd see it as a point of honour to back a friend, so they'd be here supporting the Commonwealth.

The full extent of that however will depend on where the IC thread goes though, it's possible they may be willing to send actual military forces if requested.

OOC: Given the relation with the Kilrany I might send an advisor / commando force for some limited operations, slot some poor Southern bastards for the greater glory of the Commonwealth, all that.

Quiet and serene. Thomas Gabraith smiled and tilted the glass of deep Merlot back, letting the liquid slip into his mouth. With the name Serenity, he had aptly named his sailboat that now rocked gently with the swells. Above, clear blue skies let the sun warm his body neither ripped nor uncared for. All was well as well as well could be in the strait separating the Commonwealth of Delesa from the Oceanian colony of Axcliffe. Gabraith was a second-generation Axcliffer, born in the port of Invercardon and educated across the strait at Delesa University and receiving higher training back in the Home Islands, where he spent only two years--the only two years he had left this corner of the world. And now the retired financier lay stretched out upon his gift to himself.

Gabraith was not an unusual case, for decades the Oceanian colony and the Commonwealth had enjoyed a close relationship owing not just to their geographic proximity but also their close history. In the 1940s, with the Commonwealth threatened by a festering sore of separatism, the Commonwealth turned to the United Kingdom, then the Commonwealth of Azazia, for assistance. Despite its own embroilment with the Japanese, Azazia came to the aid of the Delesians and bled with their new-found allies in reclaiming their lost land. In return, and to deter separatists from attempting to re-ignite the conflict, Delesa gave to Azazia two islands off the coast, Axcliffe and Cardon. Settlers from the Home Islands founded the cities of Axcliffe and Invercardon and among them were the mother and father of Thomas Gabraith.

Several hundred metres distant, the skyscrapers of Axcliffe loomed over the sandy tide-swept beaches and towered over the various container ships and tankers plying the heavily-used shipping channel between the mainland and the Oceanian colony. The Serenity was still in the relative shallows, too close inshore to be a nuisance but far enough out to be in the quiet. Gabraith finished off his glass of wine and slowly forced himself up to use the head. He worked his way down, and placed the glass in the wet bar sink. A moment later he returned, his eyes finding the glass and then running over the Axcliffe Daily, the largest Oceanian daily newspaper in the colony. The headline, of course, was the visit by the Colonial Secretary, Viscount Cahill, as part of his empire-wide tour of the United Kingdom's colonies and dependent territories. Beneath that, however, below the fold pressed flat against the granite countertop, a smaller title about separatism in Delesa.

Not wanting to stay out of the sun too long, Gabraith took time just to read the top two paragraphs, enough to know that officially the United Kingdom had no intention of interfering in Delesian domestic affairs. The paper also mentioned, however, that officially the Ministry of Defence had no comment upon the increased tempo of air patrol operations to the south of the islands. Gabraith never read that part though because it was placed in the back of the front section and by the time he returned to the paper he was simply incapable of reading anything.

Ashore, within the confines of the Government House, the centre of the executive government of the colony, a small and secure conference room hosted five men around a polished wooden table. Three were guests of the other two, the royal governor and his chief of staff. The highly-publicised Secretary of State for Colonial Affairs but also the Minister of State for the Royal Armed Forces and the Minister of State for International Relations. They were hurried aboard the government aircraft at the last moment as news of the separatists actions broke.

Upon the table before the group, a map of the colony with not just the urban centres laid out but also defence emplacements and critical pieces of the colonial infrastructure.

"As the Government is well aware," the governor began, his voice dry and devoid of any emotion, "the colony sits, more or less, in between the Commonwealth and this new, self-proclaimed Confederacy. Whether or not the Prime Minister wishes to remain out of this inevitable conflict, as Mr. Astley stated to the House of Commons, Axcliffe will become involved and we will pay a price. And I want to know exactly what the Government is doing to protect us."

"As you are well aware, Governor," a diminutive, brown-haired, brown-eyed man replied, "the Royal Armed Forces are obligated to defend the Crown and His Majesty's Royal Crown Colonies. As you are also well aware, Governor, the RAF has begun to step up its patrols of Axcliffe's southern maritime border. And while not a member of the Admiralty, the First Lord has authorised me to speak on his behalf to reassure you that the Royal Navy is already following a long-established contingency plan for just this sort of a situation. Mr. Noskovic would also like me to tell you that he will be dispatching a liaison officer to coordinate defence plans for the colony as soon as possible."

"What about ground forces, Mr. Ingersoll? As Minister of State for the Royal Armed Forces, you are authorised to speak for the army and I want to know what sort of reinforcements there are to be for the colony? The Queen's Axcliffe Lancers are a tripwire force designed to hold any enemy force invading either the colony or Delesa long enough for reinforcements--they are not designed to hold off an invasion upon their own."

Ingersoll nodded slowly. "I understand, Governor, and as we speak the Ministry is reviewing deployment plans and schedules to address those concerns. And I do assure you those concerns will be addressed in a forthright fashion at the earliest possible convenience."

"The concern, Governor," Viscount Cahill added, "is that this conflict might very well spread beyond this immediate geographic area. This Confederacy or I daresay the Commonwealth itself could well become the battlefield for a proxy war involving nations far larger than the Commonwealth. Mr. Astley is well to play these events very cooly for unnecessary incendiary rhetoric could well lead to foreign involvement beyond the scope which His Majesty's Government is willing to accept. The Commonwealth is one of our closest allies and this Confederacy will not be allowed to challenge their sovereignty. Later tomorrow, after my visit here is concluded, I will be traveling to St. Myhre for brief discussions with Prime Minister Geddie about his plans to resolve this situation. Diplomacy should be the first approach and I will seek to counsel him to avoid a rash rush to war, a war that could well destabilise this entire region--an outcome counter to the interests of the United Kingdom."

Alright gents now that i am done my exams i can concentrate on this RP. Im working on a intro reply for Southern Delesa and Delesa.

Azazia - We start working on that long prime minster to prime minister talk

Southeastasia - Its not really historical in the terms that this ia a war from way back when, but it will be historical in shapeing my government and new policies, rivalries and such. This is modern, as Lester Geddie is my current PM. Although before I thought this RP up I thought of a 1800s era war where I am first introduced to Azazia.

Well crap, sorry gentlemen, I had stated my interest to get involved here long ago but it seems I haven't been getting my notifications of updates, I completely missed the fact that this RP had finally gotten underway. If I'm still welcome I'll read up on the IC thread to get into things and put together a decent IC post.

Well, well, well ... I just finished reading all the posts in the IC thread (Finally had the time to sit and read it all), I have to say this is more impressive, I look forward to getting involved, though since it's now past one in the morning here it will have to wait until after I get some sleep. I must say its more distressing to have a madman with nukes, heheheheh.
