(AP) - The quiet early morning hours in Oktoberstadt, capitol city of the Protectorate of Zeere, were shattered by a large explosion that destroyed the United Nations Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) office building that had only recently openned.
Mandated by the recent Proposition 212 "Disease Prevention and Control" the UN office was very unpopular among the citizens of Zeere, and it is believed that the attack was the work of extremist ZEERE FIRST! nationalists. Among the people of Zeere and press there has been little condemnation of the attack, though Executive Chancellor Darkwood has called the destruction of the UN CDPC office "Terrible and uncalled for..." but did later comment that "perhaps the internationalists at the UN would be well-advised to scale back their office in Zeere to prevent further loss of life should the perpetrators strike again." This comment is not surprising given Zeere's record of pro-sovereignty movements and policies.
