The Mediterranican Union
To provide Liberty, Power, and Prosperity to the states of Mediterranica.
Preamble:
DRAWING INSPIRATION from the cultural, religious and humanist inheritance of Mediterranica, in which the universal values of the inviolable and inalienable rights of the human person, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law have flourished,
BELIEVING that Mediterranica intends to continue along the path of
civilisation, progress and prosperity, for the good of all its inhabitants, including the weakest and most deprived; that it wishes to remain a region open to culture, learning and social progress; and that it wishes to deepen the democratic and transparent nature of its public life, and to strive for peace, justice and solidarity throughout the world,
CONVINCED that, while remaining proud of their own national identities and history, the peoples of Mediterranica are determined to transcend their former divisions and, united ever more closely, to forge a
common destiny,
DO ordain the Treaty of the Mediterranican Union.
Military Branch
Article I:
Military related systems, weapons, vehicles and munitions must be decided between the member states. All nations must revise their military to work along side militarys of all member states. Standard military weapons must be chambered to accomidate the MU agreement of the following:
11.43x23mm Cartridge, mainly for Pistols & Sub Machine Guns.
6.8x43mm Cartridge, mainly for assault rifles and light machine-guns.
.303 7.7x56mm Cartridge, mainly for machine-guns and GPMG's.
.338 8.60x70mm Cartridge, for Sniper rifles.
.50 12.7x99mm Cartridge, for heavy machine guns and sniper/anti-materiel rifles
Article II:
Mutual Defence Agreement
Should a member be invaded, all member states shall be prepared to provide any form of intervention that the military engaged member asks of them. In the case of a member state already militarily engaged may ask the union to be pardoned from acting. All member states must announce the military power that they posses.
All nuclear capable states are to defend none-nuclear capable states in cases of a weapon of mass destruction threat, nuclear capable states must announce the size and strength of their nuclear arsenel.
Article III:
Offensive Interest Agreement
Should a member state choose to invade, attack or act militarily against another state, the member must be invading for an acceptable reason that no member state disagrees with. Should it be deemed neccessary, states should (if at all possible) render assistance. Otherwise it is purely optional. Continued lack of support may result in expulsion, however if the member state engaged in this case agrees to report to the Mediterranican Union after the conflict, they are exempt from expulsion so that the lessons of the conflict ensure such unsupported actions are not repeated.
Economic Branch
Article I:
Location within Mediterranica
Each member state must have a land border within 3,000 miles of the continents of Mediterranica. Any state with a colony with a land area greater than 1,500 square miles within the region may join.
Article II:
Common Currency
A common currency will not be required unless the support for one is greater than the opposition. All member states must announce their national currency.
Article III:
Open Trade
All members are required to trade with every member state of the Mediterranican Union, trade must be free of high tax rates and member states must not discriminate between trading nations.
Humanitarian Branch:
Article I:
Aid
Should a member face revolution, drought, depression, or any sitution needing aid, fellow members must give aid, monetary or military, no matter how large or small.
Article II:
Economic Development
In an effort to increase regionwide growth, member states are required to allow intellectual and material capabilitys and development to be traded freely, without tax. Member states must announce their intellectual and material capabilitys and development when necessary.
Article III:
Border Relaxation
In an effort for further integration, members are required to review immigration within their nation but are not required to allow access. Border checks should be less extensive and less intimidating. Checkpoints are to be manned and maintained by both member states that each boarder contains.
Legal Branch:

High Council
Nuevo Italia shall elect nations to recieve permanent seats on the High Council, which declares war and expels members.
Nations with higher land mass, power and population are more likely to aquire a seat on the High Council.
Article II:
Low Council
All members make up the lower council. It proposes alterations and maintain, updates and writes the constitution.
Article III:
Revolution
The MU has an "optional" view on revolution, states should stay neutral before the council decides which side to take.
Article IV:
Partial Membership
Nations may choose to adhere to only several branches or articles, they will be known as partial members.
Article V:
MU Flag
The MU flag is not an official flag of any nation, it represents the union and nothing more.
