General Lawrence entered the briefing room. Everyone had assembled again, as usual. "welocme back." he said, and the squad immdeatly slienced, as before. he allowed himself the faint glimpse of a smile. "We have new intel, this isa never before encountered type of zombie, infinently deadlier, caused by a mutation in the virus." He cliked a button on the remote. A snarling, bent figure appeared in the holographic display. "This is a new type of zombie, dubbed slashers by the research team that accompanied squad two. This is due to the fact that they do not feed on a corpse until after they make a succesful kill with the claws. Also, their speed has increased to on par of a human jog, though easy to escape rom if you just run." He clicked the button again and it zoomed in on its hands. "These here are its claws, increbily sharp, they are made out of bone and continuously regenerateif damage is taken to it." He cliked another button on the remote and thedisplay shifted to a satalite map. "This here is the Aliston desert, it is whats left of the town of Aliton after the first full feleged battle against the undead, in which the militry had yet to understand the head shot needed, and was therefore consumed. The dry heat of this area prevents and almost entirely stops decaying flesh. Its been thirty years, and their numbers are still sveral hundred strong, if not stronger than the zombies you encountered on the last mission." Murmers of conversation swept around the room before the general spoke again. "But, from what we understand, the extreme heat alos prevents the virus from mutating further. Also, we have new equipment for you, fully sealed QCS suits for this tpe of evironment, as well as supressors being added to all of your weapons. Dismissed."

Saya walked glumly out of the room to the transport. She HATED extreme heat. And now she was heading to one of the hottest places in the world. Well at least it would be nice and cool. She hopped onto the chopper and looked around, there were a couple new additions this time, including, she was happy to see, another girl. She still could'nt believe that she was a commander. Although there was really noone to command. She wished cig boy had been left the same, it might be fun to boss him around, she thought with a giggle.

While a newcomer to this QCS, Dagger-4 was a veteran of several similar incidents. He was a sniper with over 2 dozen confirmed human kills, and an additional 4 dozen neutralizations of 'afflicted individuals'. He refused to call his targets zombies, perferring to use either 'afflicted' or 'Bio-Organic Weapon', experience had shown him that these creatures were rarely 'freak occurences', and usually the result of someone tampering with things they ought not be tampering with. As a result he was cynical about the entire idea of dealing with these beings, with a unique perspective, which told him that they were no different than any normal human at a very basic level. He left the briefing room and followed the rest of the team, he wasn't fond of the uniform, perferring his usual gear, but he'd make due.
He checked his weapons and ammo, his MSG-90, XD-45, and the low profile drum mags for his sniper rifle. He'd learned from his teammates, that you never wanted to be out of ammo with these things around. As a result he was loaded down with two times his usual ammo complement. Reviewing the map of the area he also examined aerial photos, he found a suitable structure for his purposes, one story, flat roof with no access to the building, save the way he was getting there of course, and he'd be damned before he saw a BOW that could pull off this kind of move. It was near the LZ and Extraction Point, perched atop a rise that would give the roof a clear view of the rest of the mission area, the roof itself was high enough off the ground that even the tallest of BOWs could not reach it, if they consciouly tried to do so, and away from any buildings, the most recent thermal passes showed it was empty, and the rest of the squad would no doubt have to clear it anyway.
Ideally he'd have the pilot drop him right on the roof, the flightplan would take them over it anyway. He boarded the chopper and pitched the idea to the pilots. As he waited for an answer he checked over his gear again; he went through his pre-mission routines, and began falling into his usual zen state. He pondered why he was here, rather than with Dagger Team of the SAS in Shenyang.

Saya looked up at the newcomer. "Hello, you new to the squad?" She asked the man. "I'm new to the entire war thing myself, my names Saya, whats yours"?

Alan pulled on his new suit. If there was one type of weather he hated, it was heat. Simply couldn't stand it. Pressing the button to seal everything up, he grabbed his weapons, cigs, and extra ammo clips, especially for the SMP-50s he carried. Other than that, pretty much everything was the same. Sighing, he walked out onto the plane again, pulled up his crate, propped his legs up, popped a cig into his mouth and lit it, and closed his eyes.

Mick looked around and saw a few newcomers. He checked the nationalities and-hey now! He recognized the logo of the Shenyangi SAS anywhere. He cracked a smile and walked over to his new teammate.
"Howdy," he said extending his hand. Rather awkward in his new enclosed suit, "Name's Michael Hawkins, Dominion Black Ops. Call me Mick. Good to see a familiar nation here. So buddy, how'd you get suckered into this outfit?"

Rather miffed about Micks interruption, she looked around and saw that the only other person on the chopper was cig boy. She wondered what smoking tasted like.. She saw that he had left a pack by him. Making sure he was asleep, Saya walked carefully over to him and reached out for the pack. When cig boy spoke without opening his eyes Saya almost jumped out of her uniform. The wink reassured her though. "Uhm, may I please"? She asked.

OOC: Lol same here. And sorry! Though you were talking to Emma...
IC:
Mick blushed after realizing he'd just interrupted. He gave Saya a quick apology and adjusted the audio in his suit to make sure it wouldn't happen again, though she seemed over it as she raided a cig from Alan. Mick let his thoughts wander to what would happen if he tried to steal a fellow Black Ops' cigarette, not that he smoked. A knife through his hand came to mind...
However, his greeting to the SAS soldier stood.

"I hope you weren't planning on stealing a cig from me, snipey." Alan spoke, his eyes still closed. "Bad things happen to people when they steal my cigs." He opened his eyes and winked at her. "You can ask for one nicely if you want one though."

IC: Saya was contedly puffing. This was'nt actualy that good, but she might as well finish it. While doing so she quickly checked her equipment one last time, and noticed a small problem with her rifle. Heh, looked like a piece was missing. Then she realised she did'nt know the name of the piece. She sighed and held up the rifle for all to see and said "Anyone have an extra...Whatever goes here"?

Mick turned and looked at her rifle. He looked at his. He made a helpless gesture with his hands. He barely had enough spare parts for his own being so far from the factories that produce it. Not to mention that it was a completely rifle chambered for a round unique to the Dominion. Sure that there was nothing he could do, he turned back to the Shenyangi who had yet to come out his half asleep state.

Dagger-4 looked at the Slaughterian who was talking to him, he wasn't much older than this guy, Mick, but he could sense the air of a newcomer in him. He had a sense of justice that Dagger-4 had lost long ago. This kind of work had ensured that. He fought the memories and the look of being far away and extended his hand to the man.
"Hi, Dagger-4, SAS Dagger Team, How long you been in?"

"The military, six years. Black Ops one of those years. This," he gestured around, "outfit, two weeks. But man have I seen stuff I never would back home. We've never had to deal with these 'outbreaks'. And God, I hope that we never do. The sooner I get a big enough break to get home for a while the better. I'm not sure we have protocols to deal with this stuff."

Saya sihed and began looking around the transport for the missing piece. Though she was'nt quite sure what it looked like. Maybe it fell out when she was about to take a cig from cig boy. She walked over to him and said, "Uh, cig boy? Alan? Um, would you happen to know what goes here"? She asked pointing to the empty spot in the rifle.

Alan looked over at Saya and cocked an eyebrow. A sniper without spare parts? Well, he had his shotty, so he could afford it if his SM-24 went down. He pulled a spare part out of his back pocket.
"A bolt? Always carry a spare." He said, handing it to her. "Keep it, I've got more back on base." He said and laced his hands back behind his head, inhaling again. He was wondering what was taking so bloody long for this plane to get off the ground.

"Everything..... you destroy... everything. I've been in for over a decade, in the SAS, and I've seen this... too many times. Consider yourself lucky if you never see anything like this the rest of your life, I know I would."
He shrugged off the torturous images that enterred his mind. In battle they stayed away, but in the lulls, they came from time to time. The citizens of his home, their brains being exploded from their bodies in a shower of gore, the images of his country men being eaten, and eating each other. He forced them to receed and once more looked at this man.
"I'm sorry, its these types of things that will haunt me the rest of my life. I know I seem distant, disconnected, but trust me when I say, its history, not the present, or the present company."

"Hey man, don't sweat it. I know I'll have trouble getting to sleep at night after what I've seen, and it's only been two weeks. Hey, maybe I can snag you a vista and, if it's not too hard on you, come to the Dominion with me if I ever get back debrief the government? I mean, I guess it's only a matter of time..."
He was glad he was wearing an enclosed suit, because tears came to his eyes at the thought of those things contaminating his beloved First City. Outbreaks occurred right next door in Shenyang. And the Dominion for all it's strength and propaganda couldn't keep its borders completely secure.
Ambrose-Douglas
03-06-2007, 02:16
His eyes closed, Alan took a final drag and then flicked his cig away. "Hey, new Dagger dude... I don't mean to be rude, but can you not talk about disconnect and stuff right now? We're a happy, lighthearted bunch. Let us earn our own scars, alright?" He added a lighthearted tone to his voice to let the new guy know he was joking with him, but still had a sinking feeling in his stomach.

All the conversation woke Saya up. Again. This time she was'nt mad though, just interested in the conversation. She heard Dagger4 and cig boy, then said, "Yeah Dagger, I'm scared enough without you adding to it. Can't you just leave it with the zombies? Do we really have to bring our pasts up to?"

Emma had been leaning against the skid of the chopper, listening in on the conversation above as she field-stripped her weapon. Upon hearing the sniper's comments, she snorted, shook her head, and hopped into the body of the helicopter. She tapped Alan and gave the universal smoker's gesture for "can I get a light?", as she pulled a Kool from her pocket.
Emma turned to Saya, while holding a hand out for the lighter patiently. "Saya, how, exactly, did you get into a Spec Ops team without knowing the name of a piece of your rifle?"

I call them 'the Afflicted'. Viruses don't change your race or species, and thats all this is, a virus... and if you're worried about me doing my job, I have 48 confirmed neutralizations of the Afflicted, with another 80 probables, in the past two years alone."

OOC: United human counties is UHC. He's the guy who started the RP.
And the difference between Miss and Ms. is that Ms. doesn't comment on whether a woman has been married or not, much like the title Mr. Thus, Ms. is considered to carry more respect, because Miss implies that the main purpose of a woman is to get married.
That was the original meaning. Nowadays, 'miss' is generally used to refer to a younger, immature girl, whereas 'Ms.' generally refers to an older, mature woman.

"I could fly this thing, not that different from what I've been trained on. I doubt the boss and the pilots would appreciate that of course. Besides, famous last words right there."
He considered the usefulness of the environment suit he was clad in, trying to decide if the trade off of being less able to shoulder his weapon was outweighed by Supposedly protecting against the attacks of claw armed Afflicted, and being thermally cool.

Helluva good shot, but he was infantry, hated snipers. So, when I became one we drifted apart, I was what he feared, but that's not important. Before him, well, we've had members of military contractors, building the weapons, but never anyone that used them, he and I are pretty much unique."
He paused for a moment.
"My first mission was back in 1999, a small scale outbreak in a desert town, maybe 50 of the Afflicted, total. Well, when we left, we'd racked up a total of 100 kills, and that's what stays with me, that first mission, where we weren't able to protect the civilians. The others are there, but that one just keeps coming back. Hell, here I go, getting all morbid about it. Sorry, this happens from time to time. I hate talking spoecifically about this type of thing. I am sure you understand, having been in several misson's yourself, the rush of anger. "Well, they're these new 'Slasher' things, so they've got some nasty claws, and they can jog... they're former military, so that may have some residual effects, hunting as a sqaud, or they could be so far gone that they're solitary. The only thing that worries me, is that I've seen these things evolve in Shenyang, and sooner or later, they start growing something like armor, makes things tougher, but they still don't hold up against AP ammo. I personally do feel bad about it, they're people with a disease, not a new species. So its like we're shooting the chronically ill to prevent them from spreading the disease. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I think that the people are in there somewhere. Just don't expect me to try to prove it."
He forced a weak laugh. He understood the reason that Macked was angry, he'd been the same way, and he knew people with the same feelings. He didn't subscribe to it anymore, but he understood and didn't confront people about it. He hoped that Macked would change the subject, but didn't expect it, this was their mission, and the mission wass what was important.

Continuing on into the town, they saw signs that iys residents and military didn't go peacfully. Numerous burnt out vehicles, barricades, tanks, bullet holes and grenade craters were a testament to it. D4 moved toward the building he'd identified, his supressed XD at the ready. As he reached the wall he quickly peeked inside. It was a small one room building. There were two inside, he aimed through the broken window and quickly placed a .45 ACP round in the skull of each, the rounds pretty efficiently took their heads off, all with as much sound as an extremely soft cough.
"Slash 2 at my overwatch position. Repeat, Slash 2."
He climbed onto the roof of the building, which was a rather impressive feat in the suit and gear with a sniper rifle. Once he'd set up the angle he needed to cover the squad he reported in.
"Dagger 4 is on-station, beginning overwatch."
He swept the area with his rifle, searching for a target. Ahead of the squad he found a lone target, moving as cautiously as it could.
"You've got 1 contact at your 11, range 600m, probably a forward scout, I'm engaging."
He loosed one of the rounds from the MSG-90. The supressor brought the sound down to that of a moderate cough. The 7.62 round impacted its skull, and imploded the side. The Afflicted's head twisted around and it fell in a spin, crumpling to the ground.

Ed motioned for them out into the street and fired off the flare pistol. "Frank better be around..." He muttered to himself. The radio crackled to life. "What and who needs to die!" Shouted Frank over it. "Frank, calm down, we need you to recon our way back to the evac point, also, you got anything that could fit a head?" Ed said. The radio crackled again. "Got my water cooler here, that might work." "That'll work, hurry up and recon." Ed bent over the hulking corpse and cracked the bone plates on its neck. Quickly pulling out his knife, hesliced off its head. "Lets get out of here." He said. Frank came on the radio again. "Bad news, got a whole bunch of Slashers heading towards your postion."

He loaded one of his last five clips into the DM-32 and prepared for the worst.

Ed nodded. "Itdoes seem like they do have the uncanny ability to hone in on our position, the roar might have attracted more, but even before that they still were following us and hunting us." Something crashed through the door, not something big, about man sized. More crashing sounds, ecept this time through the unbroken windows. "Shit..." He said, reloading his rifle and checking his grenades.

He fired more at a group of zombie's headed up the road, killing them all, he then reloaded and fired more, hoping to hear the evac chopper's rotor's soon, but it didn't stop him from concertrating and surveying the envrioment to make sure there were no sniper's, he saw one, raised his CAR-15 and fired, killing the slasher sniper.

Rounds rocketed down range, impacting on as many Slashers as there were rounds.
A loud roar echoed behind him.
"AH HELL! I got one Chrome Dome up here, you're on your own for a few moments, don't die on me."
The creature was looking at him from the ground, he knew it couldn't reach him if it tried, but he wasn't going to wait.
"Alright, lets do this Chromy."
Slinging the MSG-90 he drew his XD-45 and planted a double tap into the plate in front of its face. It growled and he smirked at it.
"Ya want some more? How's this?"
He fired another double tap, the rounds hammered through the plate, embedding into its gray matter. It went down in a heap, he placed another round into the hole and wheeled around. A lone Slasher had made it up onto the roof. A single round finished him off. Running over to the edge he killed the others near the building. He got back into position and returned to covering the others.
"Dagger 4 back on-station."

Ed was to busy fighitng for his life to answer the radio message. He had used up all his grenades, he only had one clip left for his rifle and his pistol had jammed. Basically, he was screwed unless help came soon. The noise from the fight kept attracting more and more. He was out of ammo now, he resorted to using his knife, decapitating or stabbing them. He found himself backed against a window and an idea humped into his head. He threw his pistol at the window, shattering most of the glass. He letp out onto the street only to be narrowly missed by a sniper bullet. But the round tore through one slashers head and into the torso of another. not so much of a miss after all....

"Those Chrome Domes... ah dammit. I'm goin' in."
He jumped off the roof, rolled to his feet and switched to a reflex sight on his rifle.
Running into the town he drew his pistol and took down any Slashers in his path. He ran toward one of the buildings housing a Chrome Dome, as he called them.
"Its the Chrome Domes, the slashers are following orders, I got the one 2 blocks east of you, RV with me here."
Unslinging his rifle D4 burst into the building. The Chrome Dome was alone inside the small building. It growled and he fired a rapid fire string of shots into its skull at close range. The third round pounded through, and 2 more ensured that the thing wasn't getting up.
"They'll know I did that, I'm en route to you, expect company."
Slinging the rifle and pulling the XD he reloaded and burst out the door and rn full tilt toward the rest of the squad, desperately trying to get there before he could be attacked.
