From: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

We are proud to announce that Gordon Barkove (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s126/Alacea/AlaceanPresident.jpg?t=1180795701) of the Alacean Libertarian Party has been elected to lead the nation! The Libertarian Party won the election, though the ICP came close behind, despite the ALP's low number of international endorsements. We invite all nations to celebrate our new leader with us!

Salutations,
Joseph Tellico

OOC: Basically, just post something along the lines of approving, disapproving, not recognizing, a news article, etc. Oh, and the executive official in Alacea is the President, to those that don't know.

Official Message from the Libertarian Federation of Avisron

The Libertarian Federation of Avisron would like to express its extreme support of the new Alacean administration. The philosophy of libertarianism has been entrenched within Avisronite society for 60 years now. In terms of advice, we'd like to recommend that you keep your economic policies under a watchful eye. Uncontrolled capitalism can become a bad thing.

If there is anything you need, contact our state department.

To: Joseph Tellico,
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alacea

We rejoice in learning that the Libertarian party has taken control of the government. Surely prosperity will follow.

While the Dominion has now official Libertarian party (or any other party for that matter), Libertarian principles dating back to Mill are the very foundation from which our government, policy, and nation are built on.

We wish you only the best in your future endeavors.

OOC: You just said leader and didnt give me a title, but the message came ffrom a Minister and you don't elect emperors, I am assuming that he is the Prime Minister? If not, I'll edit later.

IC:
For the eyes of Gordon Barkove, Prime Minister-Elect of The Sovereign Empire of Alacea.
From the desk of Rubens Giffin, Duxapudaequus of The Democratic States of Uphaus, Chairman of the National Association for Justice, and Director of the Uphausisn Underwriters of Opportunity.

Dear sir,
It is always a pleasure to welcome a new national leader to the world stage. I regret we have not had the good fortune of meeting in person, but I fear that day may be still further away than I hoped. As you may know The election for the position of Duxapudaequus of Uphaus is immenent and it would be inconvienent to leave the country any time soon. I wish you much success in your administration and I hope that I will soon be elected the authority to send to you an ambassador for our nation.
Best Wishes for future success,

Rubens Giffin

To Mr. Tellico, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Sovereign Empire of Alacea

His Majesty, King William V Salisbury, learned of the acquisition of administrative power by Mr. Barkove in this your state’s recent election. His Majesty is not opposed towards electoralism in general. It is indeed this system that often elicits order from complications that otherwise would yield to civil strife.

However, the way it is applied in your state absolutely terrifies him. It is presently common for governments to languidly desert their duties and place the burden upon their subjects. Think of the horror that grips the peasant as he finds that he is summoned to the town to serve in this election. If the knaves must strive to be constantly knowledgeable on contemporary affairs of government, how can they effectively work to feed their families?

That, sir, is why governments exist. They put forth their full time to make sure that governance is done properly while the others in their communities are productively working in their own respective fields. To make every citizen both work in government and in his own craft is a dreadful construct of tyrannical democracy.

On an unrelated note, His Majesty would like information as to Mr. Barkove’s family and background.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Jan Sebastien, Lord Chancellor

OOC: Uphaus, the leader's title is "President", but thanks for reminding me edit it on the original post.

Also, Cotenshire, I'll give you the basic info & other stuff, but I'll have his wiki up soon. Nice medieval wording by the way : )

While we are glad you approve of democracy in general, we disagree on your views on our governmental system.

First, there's the concept that every nation- no matter of what location, heritage, etc., is incredibly different. You cannot expect one nation's leaders and policies to work well for another nation. Secondly, how could the common man work in his proffesion at his fullest potential should he not have a say in government? If he is ruled by a tyrant, how is he expected to have 100% output? For if the common man does not have a political voice, he may well not approve of the national government, which may spring a revolution. Also, in Alacea voting is optional. Only about 50% of all legal adult citizens vote, and it takes but one day. Alaceans manage to fit politics into daily activites like watching the news for leisure. Such little sacrafice is worth civil harmony.

Though the Tolvanic Libertarian Party only holds 10 seats in our Parliament, Tolvan has a long history of libertarianism and the freedom of the individual is held in the utmost esteem. To that end the Commonwealth of Tolvan would very much like to pursue further relations with The Sovereign Empire of Alacea including an embassy exchange, trade neogiations, and possibly cooperation between our militaries so that we may stand together to ensure that cost of freedom is bore by those fortunate to have it.
