BIRTHS AND DEATH IN PACK BURNTFUR

PACK BURNTFUR announced in a press release earlier today that Bonfaaz Burntfur, Clan Leader of Clan Thraktok and Grand Clan Leader of the United Clans of the Charr, became a father as of 06:25 this morning. Four pups were counted in total, three of which were males.

Medicians from Lion's Arch Infirmary attended the scene and confirmed that all of the pups were free from deformities and appeared healthy. Burntfur was present as his second mate - Ereesta Burntfur - birthed the litter in the sacred grove of Artmis as per tradition, with labour taking an estimated four hours. Unfortunately, Ereesta did not survive the process. Medicians stated that there were complications with the final pup which required immediate on-site surgery, but the mother could not be saved.

Funerary proceedings are being planned by Pack Burntfur already, and the empty shell of Ereesta Burntfur will be transported to the Reekmaaf Flame Temple, where her spirit shall be freed in roughly one week's time. Pack Burntfur's representative explained that Ereesta met her death with bravery and honour, and due to this she shall receive a patch on their family tapestry. Bonfaaz Burntfur apparently intends to name the female pup in honour of his late mate.

All of the Clan Leaders, major and minor, have passed along their personal congratulations and condolences to their comrade, and it is expected that all who are able shall attend the funerary proceedings next week. Klarr Viletooth, one of Burntfur's closest companions, released an official government statement only moments ago:

"I am pleased that there are now many infant Burntfurs soon to be running around Tyria, causing the kind of mayhem that only Burntfurs know how. It is certain that he will have trained them in the art of disruption before long, and I almost look forward to the first time I sit down on a nail. Bonfaaz knows that the thoughts of all Clan Leaders are with him on this day, and I trust that our people everywhere share our sentiments. It is saddening that the gods chose this moment to extinguish Ereesta's life, but Bonfaaz must take heart that she met her death with honour. Take pride in that, and inform your offspring of her bravery when they are mature enough. May the gods give you strength."

Burntfur has officially confirmed that he will not be attending Council meetings for the next two weeks as he enters into his period of mourning and ensures his new offspring are taken care of. Klarr Viletooth will hold the mantle of Grand Clan Leader and shall take the reigns of Clan Thraktok until his return.

All of us at the Tyrian Times wish the Burntfur family well in these difficult times.

~From the desk of Lord Damien the Destroyer, Supreme Warlord of the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek~

It is with a heavy heart that I both celebrate these new beginnings and mourn the inevitable end times. The loss of Bonfaaz's mate comes as an unpleasant remind to us all that life can depart as quickly as it arrives, and my thoughts and the thoughts of my countrymen are with all Charr, and Burntfur more importantly.

It is important while in mourning to not forget the great sacrifice that was made so that young may grow to be old. Truely there is no greater love than to sacrifice oneself for another, and Ereesta's courage in sending forth her life force to that of her young is a lesson that we must all take to heart. Grieve for her, yes. But do not let her sacrifice be in vain.

To make both this wonderful and tragic event, the Excessively Armed Empire will hold state funeral games for 12 days, which is reserved for only the finest Freek leaders and tribal chieftans, and those of my house. Whatever Bonfaaz would require of me or my son, know that it is his without question. We stand by our friends in grief and joy, through thick and thin.

Bonfaaz,
I have sent for you not to disturb you, but to both mourn and celebrate with you. Your children are a blessing to you and your people. May they continue to lift your will, and grant you a cause to defend. As for your mate, may her soul rest with your ancestors, and her will always guide you. It is my firmest belief that you shall be reunited in eternity.

"Like the persistent and ferocious Devourers that forever pound this city's borders, I am back. The traditional period of mourning is over, and Ereesta Burntfur's honoured soul now resides with the Gods.

My thanks to Damien Dreadfire. Your words are honourable and welcomed, and it is good to know that loyalty and kinship amongst allies still pervades even in these trying times. I only hope that I can repay your words, and perhaps even fight at your side one day. Maybe the time will come when we will meet, under better circumstances. Likewise my thanks to Artanis of Toori; I know not who you are, but your words are appreciated all the same.

One thing I have learned now, is that even for the bravest of warriors, life can be short. There is insufficient time available for petty squabbling, the machinations of politics, persistent arguing. The Council of Clans has become victim to these hallmarks of beureaucracy. It is time for me to forge the blade that will cut through these inadequacies, and bring order to chaos one way or the other, once and for all.

I am back, and it is time to get to work."
