Forty Kilometres from the waters of British Londinium...

One thousand, nine hundred and sixty vessels of the Royal Clandonian Navy's Grand Expeditionary Fleet, only half had travelled the long distance on the orders of the King. Originally likely to be facing the guns of the Dominion Commonwealth in the Blub-Hatarian crisis the tables had turned with a resurgence in the nationalist government in British Londinium making threats over the sovereign bases of the Sovereign League, Whyatica and The Silver Sky both Clandonian allies in the original occupation and invasion. The Whyaticans hands were full and likely not to be able to aid in the annexation of the country, Clandonia however was prepared for such a war to claim back what had been taken in the renationalisation and to end the threat from the rogue government once and for all. Under the command of Grand Sea Admiral Sir Stevens the fleet had been ordered by the Crown to blockade the country after the illegal arrests of thousands of Clandonian civilians and the hostile moves around the RCAF base at Kensington. The first task in the secret plans of Operation Strip Mine was to provoke a attack against the Clandonian's which would result in the destruction of the Londinium navy by the superior Clandonian force.

The vessels were arriving in their hundreds now preparing to put into the planned ring of steel allowing neutral nations out but with guns pointed towards Londinium waters, it was hoped by the time the full blockade force had been instigated local forces would be ready to launch their attack both Clandonian and unknown allies. Meanwhile back in Clandonian the Second Expeditionary Army Group prepared for deployment gathering ammunition, armour and supplies for the planned occupation and strip mining operation. The Clandonian Business Initiative was harking at the government for its failure to stop British Londinium from attacking Clandonian shipping and the nationalisation fiasco, compensation was needed otherwise the Sistilin administration might not last another election. The country backed the war, the images of Clandonians being welcomed back distressed and abused prompted pro-war demonstrations calling for immediate action.

The airbase had been warned of the planned operation start less than forty eight hours ago to try and avoid local enemy forces from knowing when the action would start. The bases HAND Canon (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?showtopic=183), a huge 100 cm calibre weapon that had to be flown in by numerous Sabre and conventional aircraft had been preppered for firing a conventional HE shell onto the nearest enemy base in order to confuse the Londiniums while the 16th Air Assault Division moved out and set up tank traps to lure enemy armour in using their light armour to where Clandonian anti-tank infantry could destroy them using missiles and anti-tank artillery. The huge eight metre long shell had been loaded with preparations under way by the gunnery team to fire it, the first time it had been as a weapon fired in anger and many were interested to know its effects.

The gunnery officer had reported the fire mission was a go, ordering the team to retreat to their protected bunker the cannon was raised co-ordinated by the massive computer system that ran it adjusting for windage as the GPS module on the shell power up to locate its satellite.

"Ready for firing sir." Reported the loading NCO.

"Good, we shall await furthers orders."

The government announced today the plan to enforce the naval blockade of British Londinium as peace talks start with Sir Alan Philips representing the Crown government in what has been dubbed a 'waste of time' by senior Foreign Office civil servants. Nearly two thousand warships were sent on the orders of His Majesty King William VII after threats were made against Clandonian oil and merchant ships including a report of a four point five inch shell fired on a tanker puncturing its outer hull. The latest incident was that Clandonian and coalition bases were being surrounded regularly by Londinium forces who appeared to be in a hostile and provocative manor. Last bank holiday weekend thousands of Clandonian civilians, many businessmen were arrested and deported with reports of looting and burgulary in Clandonian owned property.

Clandonian Business Initiative officials appealed to MP's to send support after representatives from the Clandonian Merchant Shipping and Imperial Clandonian Oil asked for armed convoy escorts to regime using Clause Seven of the 1765 Shipping Act. The government is expected to be taken to the High Court and sued for six hundred billion Clandonian Crowns for damage and loss of business, Chancellor Lord Osborn promised the funds will be given with extra compensation from stress, many companies have been given strip mining licences in British Londinium possibly hinting of further following action after a blockade. In a gesture of good will the Allanean donated several ships to the Clandonian navy, the ships were added to the reserve stock to await refit to be added to His Majesty's Coast Guards force in the Clandonian-Midlonia Straits, a area still the centre of a dispute over territorial waters.

Several nations have raised objections to the Clandonian blockade with the government reassuring nations that their trade will not be affected with the Clandonian economy happy to purchase their goods and wares. Details and formalities of the blockade are unknown with some analysts suggesting that it could last for months.

OOC: N.B You do not know anything further than the blockade, everything else to with other moves is purely SIC.

Fifty-seven kilometers from the waters of British Londinium

"Comrade Commander, we are now seventeen kilometers from the Clandonian blockade."

"Thank you, Pasha. How many ships are there?"

"We have detected almost one hundred so far. Intelligence suggests almost a five hundred more are on the way."

"Very well. Thank you, Pasha."

The Commander sighed silently. Almost six hundred ships, maybe more. Intelligence was rarely right. With only seventeen ships in his fleet, he could do nothing significant. Even then, he was still trying to get in contact with British Londinium. If anything happened, Second Task Group would be ready. They'd need to be. Even with First Task Group on the way with there ten ships, and Third Task Group on the way with there twenty three ships, they'd be outnumbered almost seven to one.

Hopefully, nothing would happen.

OOC: What happened to the peace talks? Anyway, British Londinium, I am on your side. Also, I have three Task Groups near them. They haven't been detected, 'cause they haven't done nothing. That's how I am going to start.

OOC: You know, CP, considering your previous actions and threats towards BL, I highly doubt any attempted invasion will take him by suprise.

Also, Theoroshia, if the fleets are physically there, they're going to be detectable, via long range search radar or satellites or what have you.

OOC: Weren't we negotiating or something like that? Also, I felt like telling you that have ownership of precisely 0% of my oil fields, so Clandonian Oil can shove it.

Clandonia Rings Its War Bells... Again
Alacea "to remain neutral"
______
From The Alacean Times

Clandonia has historically been a very belligerent nation- in its early days it played with Nova Europa. It's gotten into squabbles with Naasha, The World Soviet Party, and more recently Vetaka, and now, (again) British Londinium. This time, on the account of protecting its nation economy and British Londinium's nationalization of many Clandonian Corporation's assets, and a newly-renewed political rivalry.

Now, like never before, Alacean relations with Clandonia have seriously tarnished behind the scenes. Several Senators have called Clandonia from "Ambitious" to "A bloody bunch of warmongers". Alacea, currently about to convert Presidential Administrations, is forced to watch as these events unfold. Alacea has yet to make any official statement on its standings in this conflict.

While, there's certainly a lot more to worry about just now than how well you can twiddle your thumbs. Gordon Barkove, the Libertarian candidate, along with major ICP officials, have yet to voice their opinions on Operation Strip Mine. During the liberation of Swanner's British Londinium, the nation's closest ally, Nova Brittanica, was literally turned into plate glass and now rests at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Praetonia (a major Sovereign League & world power) has a fairly strong pact with Clandonia, though it has dilluted in recent times. So, it's all in the cards- does Alacea stick to Clandonia, or help the (supposedly) innocent?

OOC: I can't find the peace talks forum, so are we at war our no? And I don't think they could detect me. Submarines that don't move are hard to find seventeen kilometers out.

OOC: Clandonia called this off, and peace was made. He's withdrawing his bases, I give him access to oil, I have my ships retreat, etc.

Good. My sixty ships against his one thousand didn't stand a chance.

:)

Are we allies, British Londinium? Just wondering. I forget if I asked.

I'd definitely consider you an ally.
