British Londinium Announces 'Militarization' of Sea Lanes

Prime Minister Alistair Davidson announced that Royal Navy vessels were being temporarily deployed along major shipping routes in Londinian territorial waters.

"This is for our protection, I assure you," Mr Davidson said to an LBG Parliament reporter. "These ships are there to ensure that Londinian shipping assets are not attacked during these turbulent times. With various threats streaming in from Clandonia Prime, I can't see why we wouldn't do this."

The first destroyers were sent to the Black Gold Sea oil fields to protect various oil rigs and transports.

"It's distressing that we have to militarize our own seas," remarked Ryan Stark, director of the Cicero Institute, a Londinian think tank. "But under the circumstances, it's understandable."

Rumours have circulated that the naval vessels will be used to attack foreign shipping that traverses Londinian territorial waters, but HM Government has vehemently denied any such intent.

Representatives of leading Clandonian business at the CBI today have appealed to the government to take action against British Londinium after the latest incident saw warships harassing foreign shipping in Londinium waters. CBI leader Lord Irvine appealed directly to His Majesty King William VII as oil prices rose to thirty two Crowns a barrel as the petrochemical industry suggested its tankers in the Black Gold Sea could be attacked. Relations with British Londinium have deteriorated in recent months with the threat of expulsion and the attempt to nationalise foreign industry prompting strong diplomatic pressure from the coalition.

The Crown government is expected to make a statement as some companies suggested they will hire private military companies to protect their shipping warning that the cost of consumer goods may rise possibly hitting the Clandonian economy back at home. The Admiralty has published a list of guidelines to Clandonian registered ships on how to defend themselves and procedures to deal with a hostile boarding. Critics of the government said today that the government position is weak with the commander of Clandonian forces in British Londinium again asking for troops after reports of hostile and provocative behaviour against the foreign military presence which included low flying aircraft and troop movement nearby. The Labour party called for all Clandonian shipping to be nationalised to give protection to Clandonian merchant sailors, experts close to the government expect an old policy of the 1765 Shipping Act to be reinstated which deploys armed escorts on all Clandonian shipping, some even suggest that the Royal Navy is preparing to reinstate the law with the Grand Expeditionary Fleet still not recalled after the end of the Blub-Hatarian crisis.

In a Times public opinion poll seventy four percent of Clandonian's supported military action against British Londinium for its recent behaviour and support of Hataria during the recent crisis. People on the street were concerned over the possible rise in petrol and the knock on effect to consumer goods with airlines possibly adding a surge charge to meet the rising cost of kerosene. It is likely the pressure from business leaders and public opinion will force the Liberal Tory government to act and possibly instigate regime change in British Londinium to end the threat to the Crown and allied shipping.

British Londinium Stands Up to Clandonian Aggression

The Londinian government continues to stand by Operation Hadrian, its ambitious programme to militarise sea lanes in their territorial waters.

Despite Clandonian threats and rumours of invasion, Prime Minister Davidson refused to stand down or remove the naval vessels from the shipping lanes.

"It is our sovereign right to protect ourselves," Mr Davidson stated simply. "Our waters, our rights."

Operation Hadrian was expanded today as civilian vessels were outfitted with naval guns and self-defence measures. This occured concurrently to reports of Clandonian soldiers boarding a Londinian oil tanker and taking the crew hostage, though these reports remain unconfirmed.

A senior government official, who wished to remain anonymous, has stated that if the situation escalates, the Prime Minister is expected to deny Clandonian vessels entry into Londinian waters.

"The fact that a Clandonian vessel can sail through our territorial waters at all is a privilege," the official remarked. "They're a Level Red nation - their people are not even permitted entry to our territory. We've been cooperative enough."

The Skyian Space Fleet of 12 Gorgon IIs and one Huntingdon Class Space Craft, acting as Flagship, along with satellites moved into position above British Londinium in HEO [spacecraft] and LEO [satellites] and began to aquire target data on all British Londinium Ground/Sea Forces and Satellites.

Included in the satellite packs were targeting satellites, godrod carrying satellites, ones with KEMs designed for intercept and defense, and of course packs of brilliant pebbles were carried about, as were four 20MW chemical and one 80MW chemical laser capable of destroy Ballistic Missiles and other space/high atmosphere traveling missiles, but actually tasked with defending the satellites.

Their primary mission was the defense of the bases from ballistic missiles with coventional warheads, godrod defense would be handled by ground based THAAD type systems, and by troops being moved underground into bunkers under the base, which themselves were located on hills lined with bunkers, allowing themselves to fire on troops within LOS without having to worry about artillery for the most part.

Civilian Port Authorities Consider Turning Away Skyian, Clandonian Shipping

Port authorities in dozens of shipping hubs and major cities have started to consider turning away Skyian and Clandonian vessels.

No definite action has been taken at this time, however. In the meantime, there have been more and more in-port searches conducted by civilian authorities.

HM Government has yet to issue a statement on this latest development.

Thousands of Clandonians Arrested

Clandonians throughout the country were arrested today for violation of Londinian immigration law.

Londinian law stipulates that any country classified as a Level Red nation cannot have their citizens within the borders of British Londinium. Clandonia has been classified as a Level Red nation for sometime, but Parliament decided to postpone enforcement until now.

Clandonian soldiers within their military bases remain safe from arrest, but soldiers outside the bases have been detained and are currently being flown back to Clandonia Prime proper.

The Ministry of Defence also announced the activation of the Emergency Broadcast System, a series of loudspeakers erected on the corners of every city or town in British Londinium and set the BIKINI Alert State [an alert state used to indicate the probability of an attack on Londinian soil] to Crimson, the highest level possible.

In response to the deteriorating situation, The Phoenix Milita wishes to inform those operating in the area that Phoenix Dynamix will be proceeding with the removal of all remaining personnel and material assets from our component production facility in The United Kingdom of British Londinium. Most Phoenix Dynamix personnel will be evacuating along with other materials via container and other unarmed cargo ships. We must also sadly relay that approximately 20,000 British workers will have to be laid off as our component production facility is suspending operations. The facility will not be entirely closed, but it will cease processing, assembling and producing for the immediate future.

And although small ships had already been loaded and would leave in a matter of hours, it would take at least 24 hours to load the larger ships and prepare them for departure, so the subs would arrive just on time.

His Majesty's government still stands by our former stance even with the return of the arrested Clandonian's such an action is seen as extremely illegal and traumatising on civilians. On the order of His Majesty King William VII the Crown government orders the blockade of British Londinium for its recent actions. You have insulted the Clandonian people and nation Mr Davidson you shall now pay dearly for those earlier words. The blockade is to protect Clandonian oil and merchant ships in the area as well as to prevent harm to other nations assets.

His Majesty's government will send a representative to the neutral country of Theoroshia for possible talks however due to stubborn attitude express by the Londinium government we expert such efforts to be futile. In response to Gataway's request, Clandonia will purchase your products our CBI will more than happy to compensate for the loss and your naval fleet will be allowed free passage past our blockade if it complies with our requests and does not help or aid the Londinium forces.

By now, the Soviet Arms Corporation and the rest of the Soviet industried which had bought terrains in BL to erect factories, had completed the works, an estimated 100,000 Londinium Citizens had been hired to work in the production of small arms (from handguns to mortars and recoilless guns) and electronics to be used in fighter jets.
However, the news of the Clandonian blockade was... disturbing to say the least.

Thomas Patton, one of the few soviets sent to manage the factories, was sitting in his office in the 3rd floor, overlooking the area dedicated to machine guns and sniper rifles. Lately, some employees had asked if they could take some of the weaponry back home, to participate in the defense of their country should it get invaded. Of course, knowing the Soviet policy towards anything Clandonian, the corporation had given it's permission to "slip" some weapons off the stock to arm it's workers.

I'm with BL as well, however, I still dont get where does Clan get enough money to mantain and support over two thousands ship, not to mention paying the crews.

As the crisis seems to have been averted, Phoenix Dynamix is ready to turn the departing cargo vessels around and unload all removed cargo back in The United Kingdom. But The Phoenix Milita has barred Phoenix Dynamix from returning to British Londinium until an indefinite "cooling off" period passes. Those Phoenix Dynamix employees who remained in the Londinium facility however report that it will return immediately to 40% of previous processing, assembling and production capacity, and take back approximately 9,000 British workers, but that shipments of complete products will be suspended until the Phoenix Fleet gives clearance to the cargo vessels to return. Elements of the Phoenix Fleet will continue to escort cargo vessels out of the area.


The Phoenix Milita would also like to take the opportunity to express its disappointment in Clandonia Prime for unnecessarily escalating the matter by attempting to blockade so quickly before giving diplomacy a chance. The rash actions of Clandonia Prime which forced the withdrawal of our economic interests, no matter how brief, is certain to cost millions if not billions of dollars in lost potential revenue.
