It is within the intrest of Canadian Government to continue relations with the Revolutionary Cuban government. In the past, our two nations have been closely intertwinned through friendship, despite pressure from two different superpowers.
To remind you, the Canadian government was the only two governments which recognized your government during it's transitional phase into your current government (along with Mexico). In the past, our governments have joined in business ventures in both the Cuban town of Moa and the Canadian province of Alberta. This has led to us to becoming trading partners. This has also led to personnal friendships between our nations leaders, Fidel Castro and Pierre Trudeau.
We hope that we may establish an embassy in Havana and in return you may establish an embassy in Ottawa.
Sincerly,
Stephen Harper
