X-8 & YX-8 Project (MT, Semi-Open)

Green Hawk

Name of Class: A-8 Great Black Hawk

Development
The Green Hawk Air Force wanted to replace both the F-117 Nighthawk and the A-6 Intruder, but two separate projects would cost too much so the X-17 project was started. Intended to be called the F/A-17 when finished it would do both fighter and attack missions. However, project costs were too high and the project was left unfinished for the cheaper X-8 project. This time it would be an all attack aircraft with stealth technology.
It first started with the A-6 Intruder airframe, it was curved to lower the radar cross-section of the craft. Then the engines were modified to lower the chance of detection by infrared sensors. Then more and more electronics were added like the Fly-By-Wire, ECM and the MGMF System. The MGMF stands for Multi-Guided Multi-Fire System. The system works with your radar and missiles to allow a fire and forget mode. Lets say you have two targets on radar. On your HUD (Heads Up Display) you mark them as hostile via the touch screen or the built in computer in the aircraft. Once marked, you fire two missiles and that’s when you can forget about them. The MGMF System will keep track of your missiles for you; if the missile strays off course the MGMF System will wirelessly tell the missiles to correct themselves. This means that the MGMF can act as the bombardier, which in turn allows the co-pilot to do other task. The X-8 does have one problem, even though it’s cheaper then the X-17. It’s maintenance cost, in the words of Air Force General Raptor. “The X-8 is a powerful attack aircraft, but it's cost is a –beep- bitch.” Other more basic features were also added on.

Features
All weather, day and night time mission aircraft. All weapons are internally loaded to add to "stealth", this means the gun, bombs, missiles and the refueling probe. You just flip a switch and then the gun hatch for the gun opens, and then you pull the trigger to lay waste to your target. Flip a different switch and the hatch for the probe opens; get your need of fuel in mid air. It’s based off of the A-6 Intruder, but the airframe is completely curved to lower radar cross section and it’s armor is replaced with radar absorbent skin. Two non-afterburner engines covered with heat shielding plates and a system that mix the hot engine exhausts with cold temperature in the area to make it hard to find with infrared sensors adds to its "stealth." There is also is a Fly-by-Wire system to make flying the X-8 easier and the throttle is placed on the right side of the plane. (A left-handed version can be made for added cost to its production.) Ejection seats for those rare moments when they’re needed. There is a HUD to display information, target information and a Multi-Guided Multi-Fire System to lower the priorities of the co-pilot.

[OOC: A friendly bit of advice: you may want to sign up for the NS Draftroom (http://z13.invisionfree.com/The_NS_Draftroom/index.php?act=idx), an off-site forum where aspiring designers can come and post their designs, in order to improve and refine them before publicly/ICly releasing them on I.I. From my cursory glance, this looks like a solid design, but I think you could benefit from adding a little more detail to the description. I'd recommend you post this on the Draftroom; I'm sure you will get some helpful suggestions. Hope to see you there!]

Check out the finished product! I got rid of the layout thing too for no real reason and replaced it with a link to the draft room post of this. I'm also writing up a detailed look into the MGMF System.
