"Well thats sad. I haven't met hitler myself. my dad was a big supporter of him though. My dad was always going on about how great he was. So your brothers head of the SS? Thats pretty impressive!" Domminique said.

Herman said "Yeah, Hitler signed a copy of Mein Kempf for me, and put in a little blurb, and I remember him saying "Hereman, your dedication to your country will go along way for you." I had guessed the meaning was that maybe that I would be a bit more noticeable, don't think me a stuffy high command person Dominnque, becuase I am not, I almost got a job with the SS, then my application was lost, likely stolen, and rewritten by someone else wanting a job, so I was sent here, but at least here, we're a bit more cheery. When my brother gave me a tour of the SS, well, they were kind of the sullen morbid fellows to me. I am excited I ended up with a MP-38 though, I expected a K-98 at least." He dug in his bag for the Mein Kempf, and turned to the inside front with Hitler's writing on it and showed it to Domminque Gloop.

"Wow," Domminique said amazed, "I'd sure like to meet him. He's the saviour of Germany. If it wasn't for him we'd still be the rear end of the world."
2 weeks later
"Alright I have seen you guys grown alot, today we will be doing a 24km Hike through the night, we allocated some time for you guys to sleep in the afternoon. However, Gen Riechnau will be visiting us when we are doing our weapons training, show him the best we have got!"
"Yes Sir we will Sir!"

Herman Karl said "Yeah, and my brother and I had a private dinner with him too, I am not trying to brag, only inform you that I've met him. I've gotten a few letter's from him, my father wasn't in Germany when WWI started, he was in the United State's getting an education, and oddly enough, I went to collage there too. While I like Hitler, I think we should be all fighting for Germany, Honor, and the Hitler, for while he's our leader, he's said himself, fight for Germany, so I think he agrees with this I am guessing. By no mean's is this an anti Hitler thing, I admire him myself a bit, but just saying he's told us to fight for Germany first and foremost."

Lukas closed his eyes. Being forced to fight in the army was bad enough, but hearing them talk about Hitler the way they did was too much. He stood up and walked outside.

Herman Karl saw Lukas walk out, and he said to Domminque "I am going to find Lukas and ask him what's wrong." He walked out and saw Lukas sitting down and sat next to him and whispered "Lukas, I hate Hitler as much as you do, and when I met him, and shook his hand, I felt like washing my hands. I don't love by all means, I hate him, he was the one that ordered my father to be executed by firing squad, but I have to keep my hatred for him on the down low, don't you believe what I just told you? I lost my father to Hitler, and Hitler drove my mother out of this country."

Lukas kept staring ahead.
"I lost my entire family to him", he whispered. "My father, my brothers and my mother. They're all dead now. I'll fight and die along side everyone here and fight for Germany. But I still will never fight for Hitler."
He stood back up and dusted off his trousers.
"But still, we got firing practice soon. Better double check my gun."
He walked back into the room, sat on his bunk and polished his gun.
Gunther Strauss had just arrived from Munich only hours ago. He had been serving under his block commander in the Hitler Youth ever sence it had started but this was his first day in the wehrmacht, his father had pulled some strings to keep him out of the SS where most of Gunther's commrades had been placed due to their special training. Barron Von Strauss, Gunthers father was well aware of the things that the SS were doing these days to the Jewish race, although it was policy the Barron did not aprove and used his contacts to ensure his son did not end up in the Gestapo, Storm troopers or the allgemeine SS. Gunther wanted to acompany his friends into their trades but could not dare argue with his father, it was not a good idea as he was old fashioned and extremely strict...
After Gunther had reported in he headed to his barracks to meet his new squad members, he walked in the door with his kit and stood there for a moment and nodded to the others all sitting around....

Hermann said "Yeah, I'll check my MP-38." He walked back into the room, and dry-fired the MP-38 smiled at Dominque and Lukas, and said "It's ready, all I need is ammo, when's firing practice anyway?"

Hermann saw the newcomer and stood up and said "I'm Hermann Karl, I'm in the 1st squad with you, I'm guessing your Gunther Strauss correct? Firing practice is due soon, I'm glad to have you on the same squad as me." He clapped Gunther on the back and said "Get some rest, we're having a 24km hike tonight, and we can rest in the afternoon appearently." He was already taking a liking to Gunther Strauss.

"Yes, nice to meet you Hermann! i have just arrived..late..from Munich today, i had to put in my paperwork with the clerks, see OLt. Henrich, and get my Wehrmacht kit from the supply depot...it's been quite busy"
"Im glad to be on this squad, second platoon first squad...sounds good.."
" And fire practice you say? i excelled during fire practice in the Hitler Youth.."
He frowned..
"As for the hikes...ahaha..terrible! but rest! i can do rest better fire practice and the hikes aha"
He grinned patting Hermann on the shoulder. Hermann seemed like a good guy to have at your side in a time of need, also he was open, helpful..he would probably prove to be a good friend

Hermann grinned and said "I got lucky with my weapon choice, a MP-38, I've only fired a rifle before never a SMG! Well, fire practice shall be intersting, incase you haven't heard Gunther, a general is coming to observe us in fire practice, very intersting, he must have a plan that involves our divison or something.., I have a feeling we'll get along fine, now, just to catch you up on event's, earlier we did PT, thew, never seen so many people sweat, one guy fainted. But luckily for me, I've done jogging before." He sat down on his bunk and said, "Appearently you're bunk is above mine, so you'll need to reach up and put you're stuff there."

Maximillian stood, hidden away, in a corner of the barracks. He was thinking about that night, when they would be hiking for hours. He couldn't wait for the meeting with General Reichenau, and was looking forward to impressing him, considering he was going to be the first General Adolphus had ever seen. He swung his Mauser over his shoulder, and gazed around at the others, making his own first impressions of them, amd wondering which ones made up the rest of his squad.
Hermann grinned and said "I got lucky with my weapon choice, a MP-38, I've only fired a rifle before never a SMG! Gunther had always wanted a MP-38 ever sence he first saw them on display in his HJ group. They were told that if they did well in their training to go off and continue their service to the fuhuer they would be rewarded with the most elite, state of the art weaponry and equipment because Germany was superior to all other nations...sub machine guns were new to the world and the MP-38 was quite impressive,
"A General...we must be our best then, my father is a Colonel ret. although the army has been trying to get him back for quite some time, he has received letter after letter..they are looking for experianced officers? but what for is the question?..our army is very large..and..a display of pure power, but why?...it makes you wonder..so i don't doubt that this General will have somthing in store for us Hermann..."
He tossed his kit up on the top bunk and leaned his rifle against the wall,
"I don't mind PT...they always had us running, weight lifting..doing push ups..boxing, sit ups in the HJ...ughh.."
He sat down on Hermann's bunk noticing another soldier standing at the far end of the barracks with his rifle slung over his shoulder, Gunther nodded to him aswell...they were family now, all eachother had on and off the field, brothers who would fight and die beside them if it ever came down to it.

Hermann said "Hello Maximillian, we Gunther and I, Hermann, are in your squad, we're just saying that tonight we'll have a 24km hike so we should get some rest and chit chat while we're waiting, and also we were talking about why the General want's to see our fire practice. You can look at the MP-38 if you want Gunther." He grinned, he liked the look of Maxilimillan already, and if the last member that had yet to show up was as friendly and nice as Gunther and Maximillan, he would be perfectly happy with being in the 1st Squad. "Gunther, when I walked into the barrack's it say's we're an assault squad, does that mean we're the first on offensive's or anything?"

Gunther nodded in agreement with what Hermann was saying to other guy now known as Maximillian. He picked up the MP-38 and inspected it, testing it's weight, then he cocked it and squeezed the trigger aiming it at the wall..

He grinned then replyed to Hermann's question breifly taking his eyes away from the shiny black SMG,
"Yes, im pretty sure thats what it means..we as infantry will be leading the attacks our superiors plan, if we do goto war we will be first in..last out my friend....it sounds rather exciting, combat?"
He paused and looked off as if day dreaming,
"My father has told me some storys of the first world war..it sounds glorious and honorable!..although scary..to face ones foe..with bullets wizzing all around you, explosions in all directions.. never knowing when the enemy could end you or your commrades lives.."
His words trailed off then he said quickly,
"That is why we must end theirs first!"
He cocked the MP-38 again, aimed it at the wall quickly and squeezed the trigger..
**Click**
Gunther then set it on the bunk looknig back to Hermann,
"Let us make a deal Hermann..if we should ever go to war, we will watch each others backs at all times..if one of us is in trouble the other will come to his aid..what do you say?"

Hermann said solmenly "I think that would be a deal that I would uphold to my highest standards, in short I would like to make that deal." He offered his hand from Gunther to shake, for he did agree with that deal, becuase that would be protecting and helping a friend.

Gunther gripped Hermann's hand firmly in his own and looked right in the eyes of his commrade,
"It is sealed with this hand shake then...."
Strauss knew he gained a close friend here today. He would do his best to hold his end of the deal under any circumstances they would face in the future, Gunther was taught to be loyal and trustworthy..some traits of a good soldier but there were many more.
He reached over picking up his rifle, he pulled the bolt back and examined the inside..
"Even though it is new..i am in the routine of cleaning them ahaha, in the HJ you were not allowed to smoke either, they cheaked you...strange yes?"
He pulled a loose cigerette out of his breast pocket,
"Do you smoke Hermann?'

Hermann also knew something was kindeled in that handshake, and he would strive to uphold the deal, and said "Yes, I've been taking to the habit of smoking lately. I haven't cleaned my MP-38 because appearently field-stripping it to clean it is quite the process! I think there's a manual that describe's the process, ah here it is." He dug through his bag, and produced the field manual for the MP-38 and said "This contain's the instruction's how to clean the MP-38. I am excited about fire practice, I can't wait to fire this gun!"
OOC: Would we have to be realistic about that? I am not eager for Hermann to be executed by the Russians!

Gunther passed him the cigerette and took another one out of his pocket before leaning his rifle back against the wall, the smoke was all bent up and he worked to straighten it out a bit before putting it in his mouth, Strauss withdrew a zippo lighter from his trousers,
"Let me see that manuel.."
He received it from Hermann and looked it over,
"Mein Gott...much more complicated than my mauser, so many peices! Ughh"
He passed it back quickly as if to say, 'Im slightly glad i don't have to deal with that',
"Are we allowed to smoke in here? or do we just step outside?"

Gunther nodded and followed Hermann outside the barracks into the sunlight, he lit his own cigerette and took a drag, the roar of low plane engines over head made him look up to see five BF-109's fly over in a tight formation above the camp,
"Ahaha! free as a bird..no limit to what they can do Hermann, at first i wanted to be a pilot!"
He stood there amased at the sight before his eyes,
"But then i thought long and hard realizing that i would rather keep my feet on the ground"
He chuckled and a large grin crossed his face and slowly he brought the smoke back to his mouth not taking his eyes from the clear blue sky...

He and Gunther went back to the room, He grabbed some tool's and the manuel and sat down and tried to figure it out.

"Have you seen any American gangster flicks Hermann? their Thompson sub machine gun is like this, yes?"
He carefully examined the MP-38 as it sat before them, he then reached up to his bunk digging in his kit removing his Hitler Youth knife..he took it from it's sheath and read the writting on the blade...

He pulled out of his holster a Colt 1911A1 black, with rosewood grip's. "Here you go, take a look at it, it uses the same cartridge as the Thompson Sub Machine Gun, and it's said to be a powerful one, infact if we do end up fighting the U.S, that mean's I'll have loads of free .45 ammo. Once the conversation turned to America and the Japanese, Adolphus brightened up a bit, in a sick, twisted way, and cooly stated, "We should treat our prisoners more like the Japanese do. It can only strengthen Hitler's power!" After a pause, Maximillian continued. "I hope we do fight the Americans, they are the catalyst that brought down upon us the fall of our great nation in the War, and I intend to raise the swastika over the District of Columbia!" Both times, Adolphus' eyes widened as he spoke, and he began to shout and salivate as he spoke the last few words.

"Our goverment was indeed weak, and now we are strong...but.."
"Even we do not follow the rules Hermann, when i was with my HJ unit our block commander encouraged us to attack Jewish civilians in the streets...we arrested many people who wern't even doing anything wrong..just people..we vandalized their shops and took their homes? we were taught they were lower than us, the downfall of our society..partly the reason for our defeat in the first war..i told my father but he does not comment.."
He looked at his commrade with a confused look on his face,
"That is not soldiering..it's..it's..i don't know what to call it?"
Strauss looked back down at the weapon then to Max,
"Im Gunther Strauss, nice to meet you Max..i believe in the geneva rules but the anger of men while under the stress of war changes people, no matter how you want to look at it all sides are guilty of crimes in one way or another..i cannot hate my enemy who ever it may be..but respect them, for they do what they have to do, and we will do what we have to do..and if they are real men, soldiers, they will see it that way too..but i personally do not like the Japanese or understand them..i hear they are violent, evil beings..
He paused..
"If war comes, so be it..we will be ready but do not wish it my friends.."

I understan Comrade Max's feelings, but still, I understand that war change's men, and I, like you, don't care for the Japanese, and if we should ever partner with them, think about what it would be like after we won the war. I am happy to have you Gunther, and you Max on my squad. Ah I think we've stripped it." He picked up the magazine and started to clean it, and handed Gunther a rag, and some oil to clean the various parts and said "This gun, is a genuis design, I have a feeling that before the end of the month, I'll use it. I've been not only to America, but to Canada and the UK also, while I was in England, I fired one of those Thompson SMG Gunther was talking about, I haven't fired this yet, but the Thompson felt well built to me, and I also shot the 1911 at a practice range, and it make's good groups, well built, and the best action of any pistol I've yet seen. Fixing his gaze on Gunther, he spoke, "Hello, sir, and I cannot agree with you more. No side in a war is clean, and thus there is no point in restraining ourselves. I respect opponents, but that doesn't stop one from hating them, and I still must wish for war with them. I would not speak ill of our allies, if the Fuhrer sees it fit to be friendly with them, then they most not be all bad."
Gunther nodded looking at Max,
"Ahh yes, i can understand what you are saying..and you say the fuhrer is friendly with these allies of ours, yes it is true, the fuhrer knows best..look where he has brought us, but if he was planning a war..who better to be allied with then the mighty Japanese and their brutal tactics which appear to be very effective.."
Gunther received the oil and rag and started to greese the weapon where it instructed to do so on the manuel,
"You have done alot in your life Hermann...some day i wish to do all these things you have done, and all these things you have seen..after the army of course! or during service...and when we get to where ever we are going if we are going anywhere i shall like to try this Colt .45! i have fired my fathers Lugar many times..and his rifles.."

Once outside the instructor spoke and Strauss listened to the terrible story he had to tell and laughed when he thought it was a joke, then realized it was true.. unless it was a scare tactic to make them more careful when on the ranges...
He waited patiently for instructions...

Dreisand had been taught the art of Support fire, which, whilst inaccurate, allowed for excellent supressive fire. Firing in short bursts of 5-7 bullets, he was able to hit the target on most occasions.
Gunther layed down and took aim, he zoned all else out but heard the order to fire
**KA POW!**
He rebolted quickly and fired again, he had this practice down packed now and was quite good with the Karbiner 98, he shots were accurate and his speed was also good. Gunther was in the top three in his Hitler Youth unit, being number three marksman for the rifle team..
When the rifle was emty Gunther ceased fire, pulled back his bolt and waited for futher instruction...
"ALL OUT!" he shouted..
He heard others firing along with him, automatic gunfire echoed through the air...

He prepared for his turn to throw the grenade, and, when it came, he hurled the projectile at the target, landing it a mere three feet away, more than enough to blow the dummy to pieces.

Gunther fired many rounds doing his best to impress his superiors, he wanted good reports so that he could send them home to his father who would be even more proud of his sons acheivements. Gunthers attention went from the range to a highly decorated officer behind them watching them fire at the targets,
It's time to step it up Gunther.. He thought..
He focused back to the range and opened fire once more, round after round he fired non stop...

Hermann raised his MP-38 and fired, amazed at the differnce from the old hunting rifle he had fired, to this sub-machine gun, it was like a machine gun, but in a portable form, he fired several rounds, and aware that a highly decorated officer was watching them, reloaded with prescison, and fired this time crouching, and then prone, and then standing up firing again, concetrating on accuracy, for he knew accurate aim was critcal to taking the enemy down the first time. He ran out of ammo in the first magazine, so he switched to his second and fired yet again, the barrel flaming from all the rounds flying out, and making a *ba-bop-ba-bop* noise, he fired prone, and then crouching and then standing, and finally ran out of ammo in his second magazine, stopped for instructions.

Underneath the lantern by the barrack gate
Darling I remember the way you used to wait,
'Twas there that you whispered tenderly
That you loved me, you'd always be
My Lilli of the lamplight,
My own Lilli Marlene.
Time would come for roll call, time for us to part
Darling I'd caress you and press you to my heart
And there 'neath that far off lantern light,
I'd hold you tight, we'd kiss "good-night,"
My Lilli of the lamplight,
My own Lilli Marlene
Orders came for sailing somewhere over there,
All confined to barracks was more than I cOuld bear;
I knew you were waiting in the street,
I heard your feet, But could not meet,
My Lilli of the lamplight,
My own Lilli Marlene.
Resting in a billet just behind the line,
Even tho'we're parted your lips are close to mine;
You wait where that lantern softly gleams,
Your sweet face seems to haunt my dreams,
My Lilli of the lamplight,
My own Lilli Marlene!!
"Come on boys!!"

"Our first defeat will be our last, we are now in a position of power more than ever...Hitler promised us a 1,000 year reich...i believe him.."

"My father spoke of the defeat few times to me in my life, it sounds painful..and disgraceful...to be robbed of ones pride for his country..it is our duty to ensure it does not happen again! right boys?"

When they arrived back and got the good news about the ranks and active duty everyone cheered loudly, it was wonderful news that they were going to be an active infantry unit for the reich, Gunther wrote home to his father informing him that he was doing really well in his training and that they would receive ranks soon and Gunther hoped to be placed decently due to his Hitler Youth experiance and how well he was doing during his current training. He also mentioned that they had impresed a highly decorated general on the firing range...
everyone sat around as he wrote, most excited due to the news, and derc spoke,
"Derc you speak ill of the fuhurer in front of the other soldiers...you are not happy you will receive a rank after training?...why are you here commrade...?"
"You cannot speak low of the fuhurer for your own saftey..we arrested people for saying less than you have in the Hitler Youth, the Storm troopers, gestapo and the Allgemeine would go into their homes at night..we would see them take the people acused but we did not know where...be careful what you say because people can dissapear..."

Hermann smiled at the thought of being in a active front line unit, and started writing a letter to his father, about being in a front line infantry divison, and how they would get rank's in a few month's, and a letter to his wife, stating the same thing, and some love talk. He said to Maximillan "I am sure darn glad that I have a wife and son, for if I die, the Karl bloodline will still survive, and I'll have an heir."
3 Months later, Ceremony Day
"Today, is the day where the 60th Infantry Division is formed and attached to the Tenth Army. Gefreiter, is the rank every untrained soldier will become and you will meet your squad leaders and Company Commanders. Spend the week off with your Family for Christmas, now your squad leaders shall give out the ranks."
The Hauptgefreiters gave out the ranks to their squad members and tapped their back and said "well done Comrade."
"After your week off meet at Lehrter Train Station in Berlin and we will set off from there to the German-Polish Border, the new location of our Division HQ."
"SQUAD DISSMISSED!"

Hermann said "Goodbye Gunther and Max, see ya in a week!" as he got on the train back to Hamburg, wondering what the future would hold for him, he waved goodbye out of the train window as it left the station.
OOC Sorry, but i'm not sure how I should enter into this.
OCC: are you the medic guy? Stop logging in via diffrent accounts.
OOC No, I was the guy who was supposed to enter the company the morning after the hike.
OCC: yup you did request to be a medic, come after the Christmas week off the meeting at the train Station, i will change the story line to fit you in.
OOC I don't remember requesting to be a Medic, but alright.
After three more months of intense training Ceremony Day day came. It was a grand occurance, marching on parade, being observed by high ranking officers, Gunther was proud of his acheivements here at basic training and didn't really want to go home but right to his posting.
During the speech Gefreiter Gunther Strauss of the 60th Infantry division attached to the 10th Army listened to his commanders speech standing tall when he received his shoulder boards, the C.O told him well done, Gunther clicked his heels and the man moved on to the next soldier.
After the Ceremony Gunther bid farewell to his squad members,
"It has been a pleasure meeting you all, i can hardly wait to meet back up at our new posting..we can return home with our heads held high for we have done it!"
He grinned,
"Be safe friends, see you in one week!"
Strauss crossed the boarding platform and boarded the train headed for Munich, the train station was filled with soldiers and civilans making it hard to move through, from the train window Gunther watched his squad mates depart or dissapear into the crowd.....
OOC: When does this continue now?

(I'm gonna be gone for a few hours, don't go too far without me. ;))
When Gunther arrived home in Munich he waited at the train station for his father and mother to pick him up. The snow drifted down from the night sky that was lit up by a bright full moon as he stood outside having a cigerette, Munich had not changed and still looked the same as it had before he left for basic..
His thoughts were interupted when his fathers car pulled up, he smiled and moved foward but a German sergent got out and opened the back door for him..he was puzzled..
"Sergent..where is my father?""
The Sergent looked at him and replyed,
"Colonel Von Strauss had matters to attend to this evening, he has sent me to pick you up here..please..i will fetch your luggage.."
He gestured towards the open door, for some reason it seemed strange to have a man higher in rank doing these things for him and not yelling...
The question in Gunther's mind was, why would a army NCO pick him up if his father was still retired. The drive back to the Von Strauss residence was quiet, they pulled up the long driveway to the mansion stopping in front of the main entrance and when Gunther got out to see a very large Nazi flag hung over the doorway. When he entered the house his whole family waited for him with smiles on their faces, his father walked foward in a Colonel's uniform..Gunther clicked his heels to impress him,
"Welcome home son!" He said with a smile admiring his uniform..
His mother rushed forward pulling him close along with his younger brothers and sisters. Later that night the Col. explained that the Nazi's had stopped requesting he re-join the military and told him if he didn't that he would be arrested and charged, the SS had came and put the flag up over the door when he was not at home. Other than that all had been going well, Gunther was glad to be home and spend some time with his family before he headed off to the border. He told them about all his new friends, his superiors, the training and how it was much differnet from Hitler Youth.
The week went fast and on the final day of Gunthers visit his father gave him his Lugar pistol from his very first command as a gift,
"Remember what i have taught you my son, i have faith in you..you are strong, your mother and i will take you to the station ourselves where you will be off to Berlin!"
He shook his hand and that was that.
Suddenly..
Gunther snapped out of his day dreaming when the sound of a train wistle blew pulling into the busy train station in Berlin, he stood there thinking about the wonderful week he had with his family back home..now it was time to get back into the habit of soldiering.....he looked around for his other squad members...

After a good week at home, Hermann was dropped off at the station by his father, they exchanged good-byes, and then Hermann saw Gunther, he ran up to him, and patted him on the shoulder and said "How was your Christmas? What did you get? I got a box of .45 ammo for my Colt pistol, and a swiss army knife, and some candy. I am glad to see you again."
Lehrter Station, Berlin

Lehrter Station a grand Station 20 minutes walk away from the Reichstag. It was winter in Berlin temperature was 3 degrees. 1. Company were getting onboard the train bound to the Border.
"We hope you guys have a nice time with your family during the week, but now its back to serious matters."
The Company boarded the train, most of them already prepared war was coming. Each of them knew they could get killed in Combat, each of them knew that their weekend with their family could be their last.
The train ride took about 4 hours through the beautiful countryside of Eastern Germany, unknown to many Soldiers. They Stopped at Breslau where they alighted. There they were attached to their Squad leaders and some squads have new members who are trained in the medical sector.
"These are your fellow comrades who would go with you in war." Gen Riechnau adressed to the whole division, " Trust them with your life, there *pointing at the polish defenses* is the enemy, trust in Germany and yourself that they can be beaten!"
After the speech, the troops went back to their tents. They had free time for the rest of the day. Many went to the Near-by Church tower to pray, while most of them went up to the bell tower, and saw the Polish Concrete Defenses...
OCC: Mr Medic you may come in
OCC: germans used Lugers not Colts

Hermann, went to the Church to pray, then walked up to the bell-tower with Gunther and pointed at the nearest Polish defense building and said "As I understand thing's, the Polish have outdated weapon's and an air-force. They will put up a fight, but we'll beat them easily."
OOC: I know that, but my guy's father obtained one from an American he killed during WWI, and my guy does have his Luger.
Johanne fiddled nervously with his handgun, taking out the ammo and replacing it again. Despite his fidgeting, he treated the Luger with the utmost care. It was given to him by his father, the only memento he had of the Somme. It had been polished and cleaned of course, but Johanne found a gun which had actually seen action to be much more comforting than some new off-the-line model. He eyed the other members of his company dubiously. Every single last one of them was older than him, being only 17.
Still better that than a company of children, he guessed. Making his way to the top of the tower, he looked over at the looming Poland. He hoped that this wouldn't be his only battle.

Hermann also fingered the Luger he had, that was given to him by his Father, who barely survived the battle of Belleau Wood in WWI, and he hoped that he could learn how to shoot two pistol's in both hands. He looked over the defenses of Poland, and saw the medic next to him and introduced himself "I am Herman Karl, part of the 1st assault squad."
"Johanne Willhelm," He replied, not looking up at the soldier who had addressed him. "But my friends call me Kaiser."

Hermann nodded and said "Hello Johanne, you aren't related to the Kaiser by any chance are you? I am kind of anxious to see what war will transpire in a few week's, for I am in the 1st assault sqaud, and probably the first into any battle."
Gunther turned and smiled glad to see Hermann,
"Ahh! good to see you Hermann, i had a wonderful time with my family back in Munich..my mother knit me some extra socks, i have some chocolate and my father gave me his Lugar P08 from his first command! i was so excited to see my brothers and sisters aswell..they have gotten slightly bigger..and my father is back in service as a full Colonel.."
While they talked one of their officals approached and gave them their directions, the company boarded the train headed for the German/Polish border. Gunther spoke with other squad members and his best friend Hermann during the ride which took four hours, he would often look out the window at the beautiful countryside covered in a white blanket of snow.
Arrival in Breslau:
The company disembarked off the train and were placed with their squad leaders. The entire division was addressed by the same General who was watching them on the firing range, it seemed to be so long ago..when the General was finished they were dismissed to set up camp and have some free time...somthing was brewing and it most deffinatly had to do with Poland.
Gunther and Hermann stood in the bell tower over looking the border, it was a breathtaking sight..
"They do not scare me.." he said quietly..
Yet.. he said in his head...
He turned to see a medic had joined them,
"Hello! Gunther Strauss! nice to meet you..doc?"
He grinned,
"it's a pleasure to meet you Kaiser! welcome to Poland!"

Hermann nodded and said "My father also gave me his Luger P08 from WWI, he was nearly killed at the Battle of Belleau Wood, oddly enough my father's brother was there, just as part of the American side, on the Marine Corps. I am glad to have a medic on our division Gunther, that's good news."
Johanne shook his head.
"Nein, but my father fought in World War I. He gave me the nickname, which his company had given him." He spoke in fluent German, but with a more Russian accent. A painful reminder of his mother. He turned to face the newcomer, and slowly inclined his head.
"Coincidentally, this Luger was my father's also. Except he took it from a dead Officer during the third battle of the Somme. Hope this antique still works."

28-05-2007, 22:29
Hermann nodded and said "I know my Luger works, but my father's brother survived WWI, and made up with my father, but he live's in America, so when I was over there, he gave me this Colt 1911." He pulled his Colt out of his holster, and handed it grip first to Johann.
Johanne handled it carefully, aiming it at the wall.
"Pretty, but German guns are better manufactured. Less problems." He gently handed it back.
Gunther looked out over the countryside then back at the two men with him,
"I wonder what they have waiting over there, ive been listening to the radio..things are heating up between our two nations...many disagreements, things are going to explode and soon!"
He leaned his Kar98 against the wall and took a package of ciggerettes out of his breast pocket and put one to his mouth, once he replaced the package he withdrew a zippo and lit it...

Hermann took it back and holstered it and said "I respect your opinon, but I've fired both gun's, and surprising myself, I prefered the Colt, I like it's action far better, and I hope to capture a BAR from the Pole's, so I can use it instead of the MP-38. I think John Browning is a genius, he's an American designer of course, but he has supurb idea's, the quality would be more of Colt's fault then Brownings. I sure wonder when we'll get orders to move out against the Poles." He was wondering why they were attacking the Poles anyway.

"The Polish Pillboxes you see there are their 1st line of defenese, these are lighly armed pillboxes whould be overrunned in a matter of hours. The main threat to our attack would be the Infantry Guns behind,Hidden in the woods, the Polish forces haved dugged in lightly, but the guns could pose a serious threat when charging across the Field into the Polish Border. Stuka Dive Bomber planes would be supporting us in our job, but they won't be doing all of the job for us.
