Ok, I'm trying to read this thread and have gotten fed up w/ all the OOC chattering killing it. I'm suprised this hasn't happened yet, so alas I'll take the liberty to do it... the official OOC thread for The Defense of North Calaveras

IC thread here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=527701

Please keep OOC chatter in here so it makes it much more enjoyable to read AND play in (granted, I'm not getting involved in this, but I know what it's like tryin to RP in threads like that... sucks)

I do, but its shitty. It works, however.

All you can see of my tanks are the turrets, that makes them more difficult to hit, plus there is alot of smoke in the area.

Maybe if I knew what RAKE stood for, I would understand it's qualities better.

Alright. I'll post a up, excerpt from the Nakil post.

Here:

The gun can use a series of new and older rounds, including the standard armor piercing fin stabilized discarding sabot [APFSDS], or the newer X-rod, a rocket propelled APFSDS, or more accurately RAKE, rocket assisted KE. The gun can also fire smart target activated fire and forget [STAFF] rounds which are a designated top attack round, much like the artillery SADARM, which use explosively formed projectiles to exert damage on the top armor of a tank. The Ejermacht employs the newly designed fastcore RAKE, which includes a newer cartridge, equipped with an axial thruster assembly and a fastcore rocket engine. Thanks to the use of liquid propellants the thermodynamics governing the use of solid propellants are somewhat displaced. In other words, the velocity of the round is directly relevant to how fast the gas could physically expand. With the supplementation of a chemical propellant with a liquid propellant the round can now travel much faster with the same rate of expansion of the gas. Realistically, a standard chemical solid propellant would be able to punch a round out at around 2,000 meters per second, and more with new barrel technologies capable of withstanding more pressure and faster rates, while with the liquid propellant a standard kinetic energy sabot can likely be expelled at around 2,800 meters per second, and no less than 2,500 meters per second. This coupled with the RAKE can increase the effective kill range to around nine kilometers, although natural and man made obstacles will still be a disadvantage to this. Nevertheless, the importance of the extra power is more than obvious.

Shit! Ok, super shell! I suppose HEAT and Depleted Uranium aren't a match for it? My tanks carry both

Who cares? Your shell doesn't have to compete with his SHELL, it has to compete with his ARMOUR.

Here us why the Abrams is outclassed. From Mac:

The Abrams should cost ~6 million a piece, not 2 million or less. The upgrade on the Challenger II cost 2.5 million a piece, so prices below that are false data. This would be roughly twice the cost of that. However, this offers at the weakened zones and manlet over three times the amount of rolled homogenous armor equivalent protection [~950mm as compared to close to ~3000mm]. The gun offers over twice the amount of kinetic energy for the penetrator, superior to even the electrothermal-chemical cannon [although admittedly, perhaps a bit more complex, as well]; the Abrams offers 9MJ for the penetrator, approx. [a little less], and this gun offers 28MJ... so, sorry I was wrong... over three times the penetration capability. This offers much better electronics and sensor equipment, an active protection suite, which the Abrams doesn't. In fact, the APS is superior to both the only hard-kill systems currently employed in the real world (Arena and TROPHY, which are Russian and Israeli respectively). This should be better than the U.S. APS beind designs as well... although I wouldn't really be able to tell since the United States has released much information on their future APS.

The Nakíl is based off the conceptions for the future main battle tank, which is designed to be less than twenty tons, but with a heavier vehicle due to the heavy amounts of armor - so that it can stand a chance against NS main battle tanks. It's also based off several ideas that were designed for the M1A1 upgrade which were never instituted, and off at least ninety different sources that I could put up in a bibliography if necessary.

In other words, the Abrams is not a dominator tank. On NationStates it's heavily outclassed.

Just as well I'm replacing it then. My other Armoured forces are being modernised, this is all that I could send at short notice.

What was the Thread that was selling Nakil BTW? Just Curious.

Apparently I do have AIM. I've just been reliably informed by my brother that it does work on our PC, though it's news to me.

The Bulk of my forces are withdrawing but a regiment of 500 troops are remaining to ensure Citizen rights are upheld. Other than that there will be no other Alversian Forces in the area. My Observers have attached themselves to the Army attacking the city and I also request news coverage of the battle for the city.

Im planning on landing a Field Army(350,000 troops) once I sanitize the sea's and conduct some strategic bombing raids.

BTW: I need NC's reaction to the mass of strategic bombers descending on his capital.
