IMPERIAL MILITARY JOINT EXPORT COMPANY

STOREFRONT CURRENTLY CLOSED (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13033469&postcount=97)

The Imperial Military Joint Export Company is a shared company between a number of Questarian defence firms for the purpose of a united front to advertise and sell weaponry on the international market. Here you will find every single piece of defence hardware that is being sold by a Questarian firm, to superdreadnoughts down to rifles. Payments are made directly to the Imperial Military Joint Export Company, and are then split between the directors who run IMJEC and the producer of the weapon. Ergo, the weapons producer is of little to no concern of the "consumer" because they don't pay directly to it, unlike in the past with either the seperate defence firms or with the nationalised QAE. IMJEC fullfills its patriotic duty and cooperates with the government in putting in restrictions to who it sells to.

Blacklist:
You can be put on our blacklist for the following reasons. Please note that if you join any of these groups after buying from us, we will immediately halt shipments of spare parts, which in some cases can completely halt effective use of equipment.:
A.) For being hostile towards the Questarian nation, its Empire, or its Allies,
B.) For not having a free market economy,
C.) For being part of the Soviet Commonwealth
D.) For being part of the GUSN
E.) For being a Gholgoth nation
-Specific Nations in the Blacklist:

Favoured Nations:
Furthermore, we also operate a "discount system" - that is, the following nations may receive a 2.5% discount:
A.) Nations in the Sovereign League
B.) Nations in the Questarian Commonwealth or Royal Georgian League
C.) [Democratic] Nations fighting a war against a Totalitarian State
C.) [Any] Nations fighting a war against a Communist Nation
-Specific Nations in the Favoured List:

Doomingsland
Izistan
No Endorse
Mer Des Ennuis
Stevid
The Blub Colony
The Northern Baltic
Vetaka
Whyatica

Method of Purchase:
Either a P.P.U (price per unit) will be presented, for which normal payment will be requested. However, you may also request a domestic production right to produce a certain number of whatever you want to buy - if this is allowed, the stamp DPR ALLOWED will be included on the catalogue for the specific item. You don't have to include how much you're paying but you must clearly state how many you are buying of what product.

NB If you wanted to buy 50,000 SA-15s, or 50,000 rifles, then say you are either buying the right to domestically produce these if you want to, or just buying that number. You don't have to say how much it'll cost, just how many you're buying and whether you want rights to domestically produce them or not.

Method of Delivery:
Generally speaking, if it can be brought by aircraft it will. Ships are delivered by an IMJEC skeleton crew, most things are brought by aircraft or are flown over themselves.

Catalogue:
The catalogue (post2) is the list of things for sale. Right now, I haven't designed it all, but soon the catalogue will be full. Some writeups are thorough and include images - some are just simple statblocks. I'm busy and lazy at the same time so please remember this.

AJAX CLASS BATTLESHIP

Overview:
The Ajax Class Battleship is the mainstay of the slowly shrinking Questarian Battle Arm. In the face of an ever increasing Fleet Strike Arm with its carriers, the Fleet Battle Arm had to reconsider its battleship designs which were still based around a totally different principle. Now that the Fleet Strike Arm could provide real air cover for their battleships, the need for defensive missiles on capital ships was mostly eradicated. It had long been Questarian policy to mount large SAM arrays in vertical cells for their battleships - this was no longer. The Ajax class, given its size, has a capable missile battery in comparison to its main guns and compared to previous ships of a similar size. Much like the Kirov class, the Ajax class mounts its heavy offensive missiles in VL cells rather than relying on large numbers of smaller anti shipping missiles. Furthermore it mounted a large number of heavy guns that could fire supersonic combustion ramjet rounds if it wanted long range fire. Questarian doctrine had changed but in many ways it was the same - the battleship was still using its guns but now the offensive missiles were much more important as the Admiralty began to realise the the potential of the large anti shipping missile.

Furthermore, it holds much heavier armour than previous designs. Generally the ship is much larger and is of a much sturdier construction, now that speed was achieved by sheer horsepower and, although measures have been made in construction of the ship, more thought was put into armour and defending from heavy missiles. As such the armour system is not one, thick, layered composite like most foreign battleships but is tiered with plentiful use of void space and decapping layers to "disarm missiles." Behind the main belt there is a void space where the damage control is concentrated to neutralise the effect of a missile penetrating the belt. Behind that a layer of armour angled at 45 degrees that meets with the deck and runs alongside the deck means that even if a missile penetrates it may not actually damage the hull. This bends down and meets with the torpedo bulges. Remembering the effectiveness of air launched torpedoes in previous encounters with enemies, and the ever-increasing danger of submarine attack as submarines grow more and more capable, significant thought was put into bulge protection. While the most was done to resist any penetration of the hull through well placed WTCs and by excellent damage control the bulge was also significantly thick to stop any actual penetration. Behind the bulge the void space where water can be filled to assist damage control and behind that layers of watertight compartments meant that the ship was heavily resistant to torpedo attacks from stem to stern. The two rudders were also protected by being in a "funnel", that is by being covered over by more of the ships hull than is usual. They also had armour boxes around the directional gear to stop jamming. Flooding and pumping were advanced even for Questarian standards, as damage control is one of the Navy's specialities.

When it came to electronics the ship was designed for combat in mind, not command or EW. However it does have these and can lead battle squadrons and though its EW plays mostly a defensive role - the Navy realising that Questers lags behind other naval powers in terms of offensive EW - the electronic warfare systems are still potent at their job of assisting RADAR in burning through stealth and in defending the ship from electronic attack. Furthermore this is the first time the optical rangefinders had been abandoned, and this was somewhat of a shock to ship captains as Questers had always been well known for its excellent optics, both in the civilian and military market. The RADAR was also an improved model over previous RADARs and in general the electronics are of a world-class level, showing Questers desire in catching up to the other naval powers in this respect, which it has done in many ways and is continuing to do extensive research in the field to mantain a parity. There is rumour that cooperation between Questarian and Doomani scientists took place in development of the RADAR, the Doomanis knowing that ten of these ships would be lend-leased to them in the event of a war with another power.

The missiles were located in a 10x10 Block 1E Offensive Vertical Launch system. Each cell is 3 metres wide and 15 metres deep and the box itself is in an armoured wedge which severs it from the rest of the ship armour wise. These missiles were linked to the main RADAR and whichever missile was carried there was provision for guidance - GPS, RADAR, inertial, IR, you name it the RADAR could fit it. The size of these modular VLS meant that they could fit missiles like the Praetonian Lance or the Questarian AS8A. The RAM launchers around the ship are used in tandem with CIWS and are fairly new - very few heavy ships had used RAM before the Ajax and the Mk 323 performed above expected in tests in any case.

VALIANT CLASS BATTLESHIP

Overview:
The Valiant Class Battleship is the height of Questarian Battleship engineering. Fast, tough, and heavily armed she is easily capable of taking on any foreign battleship at least 100,000 tons heavier than herself, and this was even part of the design specification for the vessel laid down by the Navy Bureau. The Valiant is considered the creme-de-creme of the Navy's Battle Arm, fast, well protected, and well armed.

The primary armament was the first thing considered. Clocking in at just over three and a half times heavier than the Ajax, the Navy Design Bureau took consideration in what armament it should request. At first they wanted the ship to be armed with 24" guns - then the Navy's Senior Staff objected and argued the case for a 21" gun. The discussion continued and there were some in the Navy that even argued that the ship should use the same 18" guns the Ajax used in an ABC/XYZ configuration. However, the Senior Staff, with the support of several of the nation's key design draughters, won through and it was noted the ship should be armed with at least 12 x 21" guns. Next was the speed. Again the Navy Design Bureau still didn't give up - they wanted their original design with the dual quad 24" and extremely heavy armour, capable of competing with superdreadnoughts. However, the Senior Staff wanted something different. They wanted the Valiant (known as Battleship L) to be fast and armoured enough to take its own gun power. Again they won through and the list of expectations for the design teams to fullfill when set:

1. The ship must be armed with at least 12 x 21" guns.
1. The ship must be armoured to withstand said guns.
3. The ship must cruise at a minimum of 18 knots and sprint at a maximum of 35 knots.

This process is typical of Questarian designs. The Navy Bureau is either split or is directly opposed to what the Senior Staff - made up of the Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Naval Operations, and Supreme Chief of Staff Maritime, as well as the Navy Command Board. The Navy Bureau is usually backed by Parliament. In any case, the design of the ship was sent out to several shipyards for their draughting teams to compete for. Thirty six designs were sent in from five different draughing teams.

1. John Brown and Company
2. Kure Navy Yard
3. Harland and Wolff
4. Yarrow Shipbuilders
5. Norfolk Navy Yard

John Brown and Company came out on top, much to the chagrin of the Kure Navy Yard. John Brown and Company with a long history of making extremely efficient hulls and engines and where also known for their prominent role in armour design in many previous battleships. Though John Brown and Company would design the Valiant, many of the ships would be built in KNY and Yarrow yards, as John Brown and Co was notorious for consistent problems with quality control, especially in armour. While their design teams where excellent their naval production teams where sub par in comparison to other Questarian shipbuilders, though this still places them amongst the worlds top shipbuilders.

The propulsion system consisted of four geared turbines providing an extraordinary 525,000 SHP. This was due to several factors: Imperial Machinery's Geared Turbines were extremely efficient. The construction scheme of the ship with a curved hull that was flat and wide at the bottom meant that engine could be much larger than on traditional Questarian BBs where the construction methods where more geared towards a thicker and stronger armour belt and underwater protection that was based on sheer thickness as opposed to design construction. Furthermore the boilers were given more space because of the way the deck was constructed with the belt. In previous battleships the belt was seperate from the deck and was angled off a line of angled armour behind that acted to defend the hull from penetrations and also to support the construction. Designers insisted that a second, less angled belt was placed back this and then another belt behind it. This led to the Questarian BB being far tougher than other nations battleships because of the sheer structural integrity of the vessel, but it also meant that the boilers were cramped and often broke down.

However, in the Valiant, the belt was flush with the deck and this armour scheme was abandoned in favour of a thicker deck to protect from plunging fire, popup missiles, and heavy LGBs. The armour was designed around the boilers, much like a battlecruiser, and unlike other Questarian BBS where the armour was fuctional in holding the ship together, in the Valiant the belt consisted of a layer behind the hull that was angled upwards (which was also backed by a large armoured box that protected the boiler machinery) and a layer attached to the hull like in older battleships. The deck armour itself was made up of a single thick layer which didn't interfere with the machinery. All of these meant that the boilers and the general machinery where much larger and they were also (by design) much more efficient than previous models. To protect this machinery, the externally placed belt was tapered up to 26" from 23". Though it was flush with the deck it was angled at 18 degrees.

The underwater protection was significant. A second keel was standard and this was improved on by increasing the use of void spaces and structural supports (do not mistake for honeycombs, which have been out of IQN service for decades). In the event of the penetration of the first keel, the second was heavily tested and built to take the extreme pressure of a keel implosion. As per usual damage control was of a world-breaking standard and the WTCs were extremely well built. The funnels themselves are armoured and perforated armour was used so that a missile or bomb aimed down the funnel would not penetrate directly through. Furthermore the flooding and pumping in the ship was to an excellent standard and it was speculated a hit to the magazine would not be fatal if controlled in time, contrary to popular belief, such was the skill of the Questarian damage control crew, the construction of the magazines and barbettes, and the capability of the flooding. In addition bulkheads, internal bulges, and void spaces ran the length of the ship.

The hangar could hold 8 UAVs and 2 helicopters and did not extend down into the ship. The hangar floor was armoured and it met with the protection box for the boilers so that they would not receive damage if the hangar was destroyed. This, the thickness of the armour box, the number and strength of the WTCs, the flooding abilities, the damage control, and the void spacing meant that the machinery was almost inpenetrable. If the machinery was knocked out, it would mean the ship itself would probably be already knocked out of action. This armoured box and its assosciated protection systems ran around the shafts too and the rudders were protected by an armoured box. Furthermore an auxiliary rudder, housed ahead of the other rudders, was stored internally and could be deployed into the water if the other two where knocked out. The auxiliary rudder was weak but it would keep the ship moving or it could be used to stabilise a knocked out rudder.

The Block 1E Offensive Vertical Launch System was housed in a pair of 10x10 boxes that penetrated through the deck. These were surrounded by an armoured box that seperated them from the rest of the ship with advanced damage control systems in that were electronically linked to each cell. If there was a problem the cell would be flooded with foam and the missile launch automatically terminated. It was calculated that if the VL was hit by a 21" shell when half the missiles were expended then the explosion from the missile penetration would cause no damage to the ship whatsoever. Inbetween each cell foam and other protective systems filled the spaces and WTCs and thick bulkheads protected the ship from a VLS explosion. The bulkheads themselves were strong all over the ship and where made seperately - they were develoepd by the security company Imperial Security and Protection Group (ISPG) and were ordered en-masse to be fitted to the ships. Each draughting company paid ISPG to cooperate, and in any case the Navy Bureau standardised the size of such things anyway so there were no discrepencies or problems in design of these.

The Okita was the primary SSN of the Navy until the Taranymo entered service, and both boats began dual service, prowling the oceans of Haven. Like other boats, the Okita was constructed from titanium, although its dual hulled construction used both steel and titanium as with the construction of the Kurukazes titanium became expensive, it was decided to use both steel and titanium to create the Okita, giving it a lower operable depth, although she was much cheaper than the Taranymo despite using the same electronics and, essentially, powerplant.

The Okita was quieter than both the Kurukaze and the Rusyuna, and only shadowed by the entrance of the Taranymo, the Okita replaced the Trafalgar class from service, which was woefully outdated for nationstates warfare. The Okita was well armed and could stay submerged for days, as well as being significantly quieter than expected. Furthermore, it also served as a shield for the later Rusyuna class, which was extremely similar propulsion and dimension wise, and it was thought frequently that an easily detectable Rusyuna was just an Okita being careless.

There were six compartments in the dual hulled submarine and she wielded the capable ORBNEL-44 Communications suite, a quiet, well encoded, and long ranged communications suite specially developed for the Ballista SSBN but also mounted on the Okita, to keep in contact with the Admiralty on long patrols.

She was also armed wtih the QS-N-70, which gave the Okita a heavy advantage against ASW pickets, allowing her to knock out a destroyer easily from out of HELO range, picking it up by GPS relay from the ORBNEL-44. She was also given a heavily advanced SONAR suite, which was almost twice as powerful as the one mounted no the Kurukaze, while being proportionally quieter even in passive.

Project 960 Taranmyo
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/IS%20PTC/Project960Taranymo.gif
Overview:

The Taranymo was the quieter of the two Questarian nuclear attack subs, with a waterjet and much more hydrodynamic features, she was the perfect attack submarine - silent, well armed, and long ranged. She carried the explosive halberd type 810mm heavy torpedo, capable of knocking cruisers out with a single blow - in tests, anyway - and was often seen surfaced by trawlers on the Uzumo Trench, flying the flag among the Vaamos Confrontation, where Questarian trawlers were routinetly apprehended and their nets cut.

The seven compartmented submarine was built on a titanium-dual hull, after the titanium industry was rebuilt, and the submarine was put into full production, with quality control monitorings from the commissariat - yards that did not enforce strict rules were severely prosecuted, especially a case where Jeffrey Thompson's Submergible Yard was shut down and many supervisors taken to labour camps to learn the 'real meaning of hard work.'

She was also given the same SONAR and communication suites as the Okita, and similar missile capabilities, although this time they were all tube launched, which meant that the sub could only mount QS-N-62 and 64, and in general the three port tubes were for missiles and the two starboard were for torpedoes, although they were easily interchangeable.

The Taranmyos outlasted the Okitas, being sold off and replaced by a future nuclear attack submarine, but evnetually these majestic and beloved by both sailors and public alike (for different reasons - the Taranmyos were the first submarines of the new co-ed navy, and high automation gave the crew more space than any other submarine). Many a tear was shed when pictures of dozens of Taranmyos lying rusting in scrappers yards were broadcast.

PROJECT 656 'Rusyuna'
?
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/IS%20PTC/Project656Rusyuna.gif
Overview:

The Rusyuna was possibly one of the oddest submarines ever designed by Oscar Reid Barham's Submergible Design Team - it was extremely fast, and it carried the hypersonic SCRAMjet missile, the QS-N-70, labeled the Submerse-Launch Objective Radar Guided Anti Shipping Missile, which carried a 1150 kg warhead and struck its target at extremely high speeds.

The Rusyuna gave good performance, long range, and high speeds, but she was loud, and described by the crews as a deathtrap, an image which the loss of the Yajiro did nothing to assist - the submarine was lost as the high speeds rattled a missile out of its holding and exploded, destroying the submarine and all aboard. Nevertheless, she held the most powerful Questarian electronics and communications suites, with SONAR performance said to be the best in the Questarian Navy. She was a well kept secret, and she probably could have gone faster if it were not for her single prop; the shape and the propulsion of the Rusyuna meant it was very similar to the Okita class, and the Juumanistran Navy was not entirely sure of the existence of the Rusyuna until a photograph was accidentally leaked onto the internet. After the loss of the Yajiro, more and more information was leaked, and the Rusyuna classes became somewhat of a rarity, whereas before they had patrolled often, picking up Juumanistran convoys and receiving information via satellites for missile guidance. The Rusyuna was a threat to Juumanistran shipping, with its long ranged missiles and high speed, but she was eventually hunted down and the class became slowly phased out, until the last, the Rusyuna herself was left, from a class of only twenty. These majestic submarines formed the core of the Long Range Sub-Launched Missile Fleets.

The submarine is built around seven compartments and a double hull constructed of titanium. Special Hardened Titanium was used for the hulls, allowing the boats to go to excessive depths to hide for days. Heavy automation gave the boats long endurance times and meant for better information processing.

Despite being a deathtrap, they were comfortable to serve on for the long endurance that many sailors spent crusing six hundred metres underwater. Compared to most modern submarines from nations like Praetonia, Sarzonia, or Isselmere, however, the conditions were still somewhat spartan.

PROJECT 841 'KURAKAZE
Designated SSGN Gylippus by Juumanistran Navy
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/IS%20PTC/Project841Kurakaze-1.gif
Overview:
The Kurakaze, designated the Gylippus by Juumanistran Navy, was one of the most widely produced Questarian submarines. She was able to operate at an extremely low depth, below anti submarine range for long periods of time very quietly. Her powerful armament was capable of doing serious damage to convoys and the QS-N-62 as it was designated by Juumanistra, was capable of sinking a destroyer if a direct hit was attained. Some twelve hundred Kurakazes were built and just over a thousand were in service at the peak of the Questarian Submarine Fleet. Later variants suffered from quality control and bad service with their nuclear reactors, evident when Captain JG Uzake attempted to defect to Juumanistra with his submarine after being turned down for several reactor maintenance requests.

The submarine is built around seven compartments and a double hull constructed of titanium. For the first several hundred the titanium had to be imported from Praetonia because of the mine shortage and the failings of the titanium industry to compete, although this ended when the government nationalised the heavy metal industry.

The Kurukaze was a fairly loud submarine and its presence shadowing convoys was often considered a training exercise by Juumanistran ASW helicopters and ships until amendments were made to the design to make it somewhat stealthier and the doctrine was changed considerably. Meetings between the Kurukazes and foreign convoys happened more than often, and Juumanistran sailors recall raising pornography magazines, or putting them into bottles and throwing them over at surfacing 841s, for the edification of the somewhat deprived Questarian sailors.

HAYASAKE CLASS HEAVY DESTROYER
Overview: The Hayasake Class Heavy Destroyer is the Fleet’s main heavy destroyer and plays a major role in picketing operations. Its capable SAMs, both long and range, can engage missiles and aircraft with the Defensive Vertical Launch systems on the port, starboard, and aft, or the Mk 50 Twin-Arm launcher can launch heavy, super long range SAMs to attack AWACs, bombers, heavy missiles like ZMI’s Khan, or even some ballistic missiles.

Her SONAR and large helicopter capacity allows her to engage submarine threats. This is bolstered by her 533mm torpedo armament which can be used against ships if the range is closed. Her guns allow the ship to take part in shore bombardment roles and their dual purpose nature means they can even add to fleet air defence against missile wave style attacks. The SEDEST system is the most advanced the Questarian Navy has to offer and is therefore on the worlds leading range of anti torpedo defences, combining powerful active and passive SONARs with immediate presentation of options to the ships commander upon detection of a torpedo or submarine, and with the ability to work in close harmony with the torpedo systems and the aircraft crews. An extremely potent underwater decoy system is also critical to SEDEST with capabilities to totally knock torpedoes off target.

The ship is fast and with her 10,000km cruising range, can travel long distances with large battlefleets.

Her EW systems allow her to help other picketing ships in taking out large EW threats, defending the fleet from electronic attack, or to jam the guidance systems of incoming missiles. The Hayasake is a great ship to head destroyer squadrons or to form picketing lines. Her RADAR is amongst the best in the world in picking up incoming missiles or aircraft. Its adaptive waveform control systems give it incredible defence against jamming. The S2000D can detect and track 1,000 targets at 530 kilometres.

SHIRUNE CLASS LIGHT DESTROYER
Overview: The Shirune Class Light Destroyer is the fleet’s primary anti submarine picket destroyer. Its main purpose is to defend the fleet from any subsurface attacks and it does this by focusing on an anti-submarine missile system and large numbers of anti torpedo decoys.

While it has some defensive EW and SAM equipment and a small gun, the Shirune really thrives when hunting submarines. Its underwater SONAR and SEDEST systems in tandem with the HELOs it launches are extremely capable of finding submarines and knocking them out. The 1S Defensive Vertical Launch system launches its anti submarine missiles which can plunge into the ocean depths to hit submarines, which they have no defense against. The missile, named the SS-5-SANDBOX is effectively a rocket torpedo with a booster engine that propels it up into the air and down again. Its advanced SONAR linked to the SEDEST Mk 53 system easily detects submarines and once an SS-5 has a lock on a submarine there is little the crew can do but pray to survive.

Furthermore, in areas where submarines are expected to operate, the Shirune is proficient at mining operations. Its 533mm CAPTORs can be quickly and easily deployed to counter subsurface threats in advance.

PROJECT 833 'BALLISTA'
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/IS%20PTC/Project833Ballista.gif
Overview:
The 833 Ballista was the primary ballistic submarine of the submarine fleet, used extensively in the Eastern Fleet, the Northern Fleet, and the Western Fleet, with stations in the channel where the Ballistas would have launched the opening salvos of ICCMs if a second war was ever to break out.

Her primary armament, besides the explosive halberd type 810mm torpedos, was the kamikaze 'divine wind' type SLBM. The kamikaze was a three staged, solid fuel MIRV with 8 warheads - each with 125 kt yield, or for the ICCM QS-N-10, a 2500kg warhead, with a reported range of at least 13,000km.

The Ballista fleet suffered from poor training, and a secret commissariat document stated that it would be possible that only 33% (!) of Ballista crews would actually push the button if neccessary. The ORBNEL-90 was a specially developed system that was highly secret and highly powerful - however, it was very rarely used in excercises, as targets were encoded into ship's databases and the commissariat was too scared of Juumanistran intelligence finding out the Ballista targets, of which many were civilian targets - the Ballista fleet was often on patrol on the Western Fleet, their missiles aimed at primary naval bases, airbases, and cities.

She was a nine-compartmented boat with two pressurised hulls made from titanium, and she was actually pleasurable to serve on, with co-ed crew reporting long range Ballista patrols as a welcome change to training and excercises.

PROJECT 455
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/IS%20PTC/Project455.gif
Overview:
The Project 455 was designed to be a quiet SSK for operation in either close waters or with fleet tenders, which indeed it did in the Vaamos Confrontation - the Type 455 Milton Precinct was involved in the sinking of the Vaamosian Aircraft Carrier Hugo Frentez, sneaking up just under torpedo arming range to hit the ASW escort cruiser Almirante Boroz, knocking out its antiquated propulsion system and sinking the ship with a second heavy missile.

The Project 455 was conceived at the beginning of the Submergible Expansion Programme as a coast patrol and a super-quiet attacker for operations like the sinking of the Hugo Frentez, which was actually carried out by a nuclear attack submarine.

She was, in comparison wtih other Questarian submarines, pleasurable to serve on, and also safe, with a double-hulled construction - though this time with steel - and pressurised bulkheads inbetween her six compartments, she could take a holing and still surface to escape from maximum depth. The armament was also strong, and the Admiralty claimed the Project 455 could sink a battleship in the 250,000 ton range.

The armament consisted of three tubes port and starboard, three starboard for the Explosive Halberd heavy torpedo and two port for the QS-N-62/64.

Like the Taranmyo, the Project 455 was eventually collected in scrappers yards and left to rust, the last few being sold off or kept as training vessels. The Project 455, aside from the Vaamos Confrontation, did very little apart from patrol work, and her inglorious career was finished with an inglorious end at the breakers axe.

Mitsubishi-Supermarine Conglomerate G4M6 Hayabusa (Peregrine Falcon) 4LB(N)
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/g4m.png
Design HistoryMitsubishi Supermarine's G4M6 is the primary land based naval bomber of the IQN's Air Service. Its main armament being missiles, the G4M6 may be designated as a "missile carrier" - though it also carries long range heavy torpedoes and large numbers of mines on some missions. In any case, missile carrier isn't a designation in the IQN. The 4 Engined (4), Land based (L), Bomber (N), Naval ((N)) is the IQN's type designation for the G4M6. The G4M was designed after, in December 1941 Admiralty requested to the ADO (Aerospace Design Office) that a new naval bomber to replace the old Tu-142s and Tu-22s of the Naval Air Service be designed. Given that a fighter escort is optimal, the G4M was designed with range and payload in mind. However, as the first design was rejected, the Admiralty requested that capabilities to engage fighters were included; especially the addition of specialist AAM avionics. The four engined bomber was designed from the start to use turboprop engines, the prototype being the MSu-D41.1, which was used a contrarotating propeller much like the Tu-95. The engine was significantly changed until final production. The G4M6 fields a type of missile designed specially for the aircraft, which was designed by the missile company, the AS8A, of which the G4M carried two.

Details on the AS8A would come later, but the IQN claims that three AS8A can sink a 100,000 ton battleship- a more realistic number is four.

If not equipped with missiles, the G4M could be used as a torpedo bomber and equipped with the long range AT3A, also designed by Aichi.

The design was proposed and accepted August 1942 and the G4M1 went into full scale production in December of the same year. Unfortunately, wtih its limited experience in bomber design, there were initial problems, mostly the MSu-A42.1 turboprops, and airframe efficiency (or lack of it), which were soon rectified and the G4M1 halted production in June 1942, to be continued in the next month by the G4M2, which immediately reported better handling, speeds, efficiency, range, and turning radius. The new engine used was the MSu-A42.11. In December of '42 production of the G4M2 halted and the upgraded G4M3 entered service two months later; the new engine was the MSu-A42.12 which gave even greater efficiency and output. Mitsubishi Supermarine were constantly working on engine designs for the G4M which was earning them a great deal of money in production. The next variant, the G4M4 added more fuel and more range at the Admiralty's request, which enlargened the airframe, though from this stage on pilots were more wary in their G4M4s because as one may expect they became more susceptible to damage.

In March 1944, Questers declared war on Doomingsland and the untested G4M4 was thrown into battle in massive numbers. As the Questarians advanced fast, quickly capturing numbers of island airfields with overwhelming power, the G4M4 was at the frontline of the fighting right up until the ceasefire. When the Kido Butai was caught in the Second Battle of Paralentum and its carriers cut down, ending Questarian air superiority which had lasted four months. The overwhelming firepower that the IQN had been able to bring to bear had been blunted and now it seemed as if the Questarian Navy was massively outnumbered in the air: it was at this point where some of the G4M4's most heroic and memorable actions began. When Quester's mobile air striking force was robbed from it, the G4M4 was brought in to fill the gaps that had been lost from the three roles of the Questarian strike bombers; bombing, missile bombing, and torpedo bombing.

The G4M5 was already in production in this stage, although it was rushed into action in September of 1944. The G4M5 was a step up - the airframe was stronger and sections of the aircraft had been totally redesigned especially the wings and tailplane. The problem that had existed with fuel ignition that had plagued the G4M4 was solved with better protected and sealing fuel tanks and the G4M went from being a flimsy bomber to a sturdy one. However, the need for this to happen quickly meant that the new engine that was fitted, the MSu-A42.13 was only in its prototype stages and some critical mistakes had been made, which devastated the range of the G4M.

The war ended before these problems were fixed, and the first real bomber design in Questarian aerospace history had proved itself on the fields (or should I say skies?) of battle. The M6 was brought out two months after the wars end, with the new MSu-A42.2. In June of 1947 the G4M6 went into combat against Hatarian and Axis Novan forces [TBC when that conflict's over]

Design Features
The G4M is well known for being extremely loud; it can be heard from miles around and is in no way stealthy. Considering its role in modern warfare, members of the Admiralty were displeased that Mitsubishi-Supermarine would design an aircraft without stealth, but it became apparent that the pros of the contra-rotating propellers of the G4M outweighed the cons; it was able to achieve long range with great fuel efficiency and was often faster and more maneouvrable than many foreign air forces gave it credit for. Many pilots are deaf for periods of time after extended flights in G4Ms and the sound the propellers make are signature to the aircraft. On his life raft after the Second Battle of Paralentum, Ensign Isoroku Matsumoto observed a fleet of attacking G4Ms after his carrier, the Soryu, was sunk. He noted in his diary that he could hear, over all the sounds of battle, the engines of the G4Ms and could tell from what direction they were coming at what height. The distinct noise is well known to pilots and G4Ms are often "used" to train the senses of pilots in regards to noise.

Mitsubishi-Supermarine have stated that they will probably finish off the design with a thoroughly tested G4M7, as for now they are currently working on the carrier launched M2M6 Soryu missile attack bomber.

Weaponry
AS8A Anti Shipping Missile
Length: 11.9m
Wingspan: 3.72m
Diametre: .96m
Weight: 6,450kg
Speed: 1,250 m/s
Maximum Range: 710km
Propulsion Type: Liquid propellent rocket motor
Warhead: 270kg DU penetrating cap, 750kg shaped charge
Guidance: Inertial and active RADAR; some GPS guidance

The AS8A is the primary armament of most G4Ms. Its designation is split down as follows. AS signifies Anti Shipping, 8 means 8th in Navy use, and A means built by the Aichi company. It carries top-mounted flares which have a limited ability to distract incoming AMMs. Two A can be mounted, one on each wing, as well as eight light AAMs internally. While its relatively short range means that the G4M has to get closer than say, traditional heavy cruise missiles like Khan, AS8A provides an extremely heavy hitter for the Navy's Air Service. If it doesn't carry AS8A, the G4M carries either the Rosdivan Shepherd ASM or the Praetonian Lance Flight III, both of which the Navy has DPR and considers to be, along with AS8A, the best missiles in the "genre" today. While it carries two AS8A or two Lances, it can carry six Shepherds in a rotary drum installation. For a Shepherd-only configuration the G4M can carry another two missiles per wing.

EAT3A Aerial Torpedo
Length: 9.93m
Diametre: 1m
Weight: 8,925kg
Speed: 425 kts (EAT3A), 32 kts (AT3A)
Maximum Range: 15km (EAT3A), 75km (AT3A)
Propulsion Type: Rocket engine / pumpjet engine
Warhead: 1300kg HE
Guidance: Active RADAR and SONAR

The AT3A is the primary armament of the G4Ms used in the Torpedo Bomber role. Its designation is split down as follows. AT signifies Aerial Torpedo, 3 means 3rd in Navy use, and A means built by the Aichi company. The AT3A is a long rnage torpedo that can be deployed by the EAT3A (E meaning Encapsulated) which was specially designed for the AT3A and works much like CAPTOR. If the EAT3A is deployed, the encapsulation system will sink and anchored to the ocean floor it waits for its prey; superdreadnoughts or supercarriers. Picked up on the passive SONAR of the encapsulation system, the EAT3A will then fire the rocket torpedo directly upwards, or at a steep gradient agains the lower hull of the SD. The passive SONAR on the encapsulator itself is weak enough to be almost impossible to avoid but still pick up ships around a million tons or more. Just two hits from an EAT3A will sink a million ton ship.

If deployed independently, the G4M can carry a pair of AT3A on the wings just like the AS8A and they are usually guided by active RADAR and SONAR. There is limited use for the G4M in this scenario. The G4M can mount two sticks of 5 EAT3As, one on each wing for 10 EAT3As in total.

EAT1A Encapsulated Torpedo
Length: 5.92m
Diametre: 550mm (21.6")
Weight: 1,850kg
Speed: 55 kts
Maximum Range: 9km
Propulsion Type: Pumpjet engine
Warhead: 315kg HE
Guidance: Active SONAR

The EAT2A is the lighter version of the EAT3A. Whereas the EAT3A is designed to kill supercarriers and dreadnoughts the EAT2A is designed to kill cruisers, battleships, and carriers. Its designation is split down as follows. AT signifies Aerial Torpedo, 2 means 2nd in Navy use, and A means built by the Aichi company. The AT2A is a short range torpedo that is deployed by the EAT2A system, which works like an encapsulated torpedo. The AT2A is designed to attack the keel of a ship from below, launched from its encapsulation device. It is a guarenteed kill against anything smaller than 25,000 tons. When the EAT2A is deployed, the encapsulation system will sink and anchored to the ocean floor it waits for its prey; anything from frigates to cruisers to escort carriers. Picked up on the passive SONAR of the encapsulation system, the EAT2A will then fire the rocket torpedo directly upwards, or at a steep gradient agains the lower hull of the ship. The encapsulation device is almost impossible to detect and this is an extremely effective way of stopping gigantic fleets in their tracks.

The G4M can mount three sticks of 5 EAT2As, one on each wing and one in the fuselage for 15 EAT2As in total.

In addition, there is a dual 22mm autocannon mounted in the front of the aircraft below the avionics and linked to the main RADAR which is also linked towards the AAM guidance. The dual 22mm, which is computer controlled, has a full 360 degrees angle of fire below the bomber itself, protecting it from any attacks underneath. There is a dual 22mm in the tail that operates in the same fashion. The usefulness of these weapons is doubted by many in the Air Service, and some certain units have requested to have their guns removed, whereas others found they saved their lives and an inquest was made which declared that a top mounted gun would be possible and that the "CIWS" had saved more lives than it had cost. A secondary dual 22mm turret was installed on the top of the aircraft on the M6 model.

The extensive ECM systems are built in the avionics pods, the three ECM systems SA/210 for barrage noise jamming, the SA/222 false generator and the SA/250 active countermeasures. The SA/250 uses a conductive-memory plastic to blend its antennas into the tailplane for its active countermeasures.

Classification Name: SS-27-SUBJECT

Overview: The SS-27 is a smaller missile launchable from escorts or from the Block 1E Offensive Vertical Launch mounted on capital ships and cruisers. With a much shorter range than the SS-25 and a considerably smaller payload it is still capable of doing heavy damage. This is the missile that forms the third wave of missile attacks in Questarian naval doctrine before gunnery becomes an option. It is mostly used for knocking out escorts to gain a local numerical and picket superiority. It is assumed that in a major naval battle, once the enemy's escorts are removed, Questarian destroyer divisions will move up and engage capital vessels with torpedoes and their own missiles.

Overview: The SA-15 ALLIGATOR is the primary missile of the fleet's picketing warships, its role is both anti-aircraft SAM and anti-missile AMM. The SA-15 is competent at taking down both aircraft and missiles alike and it has proved itself in the Aequatian conflict shooting down the "Typhoon" class anti sihpping missile which is capable of moving at mach 6, picking up and targeting the missile within a single second. The missile is extremely maneouvrable with its four powder maneuver rockets, located at the missiles centre of gravity, to keep it from breaking under high-g and to generally increase agility. The missiles onboard RADAR can detect around 450 flying targets.

MSu-38 Anti Submarine Warfare HELO

Producer: Mitsubishi-Supermarine
Image: Link (http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/IJNYamamoto/MSu-38.png)
Overview: The MSu-38 is the standard anti submarine HELO of Questarian forces, serving in this role for many years and serving in it particularly well in some outstanding conflicts like the Aequatio Confrontation and the Questo-Doomani war. It also served with Blubbian forces in their battle against Hataria.

It can engage targets like submarines, boghammers, or even destroyers with torpedoes and missiles and can even function in the minelaying role. Some variants can provide Early Air Warning for afleet with longer ranged RADARs while others hunt and engage submarines with a combination of dipped sonobuoys and torpedoes. They can support marine landings on the ground by either roping down or touching down troops and by providing gun support with chin mounted heavy machine guns, 88mm rockets, or 22mm gun pods.

The MSu-38 is the standard ASW HELO of Questarian forces and is perfect for your nations maritime adventures too. All our ships that carry HELOs are optimised to carry the MSu-38.

COLONY CLASS HELICOPTER DESTROYER
Overview: The Colony Class Helicopter Destroyer is an interesting albeit useful addition to the fleet. Its ability to carry 15 anti submarine HELO is a welcome addition to picket lines, meaning that several of these destroyers can easily cover a battlefleet from subsurface threats, as well as the fleets own destroyers and frigates with helicopters.

The nav bridge, RADARs, and funnels are all located to the port side of the ship providing the main superstructure to be a through-deck hangar which is heavily armoured. The deck itself is well armoured and HELOs can land or take off from either aft or fore but procedure dictates they take off from fore and land on the aft. The elavator is inside the through deck hangar so when aircraft are inside they essentially pass through two levels of security: the protected superstructure box, and the protected hangar and flight deck.

Flight operations must be routinely scheduled correctly or else the single elavator may be overwhelmed. Furthermore UAVs can be independently launched and recovered from their own pad and hangar and recovery system towards the aft. The Colony Class Helicopter Destroyer is now a common sight in Questarian picket lines, performing excellently in knocking out submarines.

MOGAMI CLASS AIR DEFENCE CRUISER
Overview: The Mogami Class is quite simply the worlds best Air Defence Cruiser and this is not a sales line.

Its primary attraction is the dual system of the S5200S-L/ST and the S5200S-L/I system. The S5200S is fully automated in detection and tracking and can pick up over 1,500 targets the size of a baseball at an astonishing range of 1,550km. The 5200S-L/I is the tracking device attached by the most advanced fibre-optics in the world to the 5200S that when the information is relayed in a millisecond, it is processed by the L/I and the correct form of action is logged and automatically taken at a set time to intercept the incoming missile or aircraft with either its long range, anti bomber/ICCM missiles or its shorter but still long ranged anit missile/aircraft missiles.

If a fleet was under attack bya wave of enemy bombers, the perfect defence would be the Mogami Class Air Defence Cruiser. Assuming on an RCS similar to the Russian Bear, they would pick it up at maximum range as it entered the range of the scan, but assuming the RCS of something like the SB-22, scan range would be somewhat less, around perhaps 1,000-900km. Upon immediate detection the processor of the S5200S would plot a course of action within seconds and send it to the S5200S-L/I. This would then achieve a firing solution, assuming one was clear, for the ships SA-16 AMBROSE long range missiles and at the optimum range would engage the enemy with those. Meanwhile the S5200S would be plotting a course of defensive action upon enemy missile launch. When the launch of enemy missiles is detected the S5200S feeds this to the S5200S-L/I and then within a second it begins the action of launching the SA-15 ALLIGATOR missiles to deal with these missiles.

In this way, the Mogami is perfect for NS Air Defence where lots of targets need to be quickly intercepted at long range. Given its low offensive capabilities the Mogami is not a standalone ship but it has alot of missiles and it can use these to deadly effect to provide full air defence from all threats to a fleet.

No Endorse would like to inquire as to the cost of acquiring the rights to produce an unspecified number of Colony Class Helicopter Destroyers. We wish to initially procure a dozen for trials, and if they prove useful, we'd like to augment our current Fyre Sea Class Carrier squadrons with these. This would allow our Fyre Seas to shift to a more multirole profile, as the Colonies can pick up a significant portion of the squadron's local defense. If domestic production rights cannot be obtained, we wish to procure an unspecified number over the next several years.

A7H2 'REPPU' AIR SUPERIORITY FIGHTER

Overview: The A7H2 is the finest indigenous produced aircraft to come out of Questarian design works. Heavily influenced from the Space Union SuF-6 which is being phased out of use, the A7H is due to come in service with both the Navy within the following week. While Questers will not rely on solely indigenous aircraft for some time the A7H fills the gap of Naval Air Superiority as well as any fighter built outside the worlds most renowned aerial nations can do. It has one major thing going for it, however: as with all Questarian non-ship design, Questarian design philosophy has dictated well enough that the A7H2 is easy and cheap to build, easy to mantain, and extremely reliable. If you are looking for a fighter with these qualities that can stand up to almost any other in its kind in the world, look no further than the A7H2.

The A7H2's primary detection RADAR was developed by Aichi in coordination with Nakajima-Hatsuo as is typical with Questarian aerial design, Aichi being the leading air electronics developer. The RADAR is extremely large and is mounted in the nose which meant the aircrafts cannon was slotted between the wings and the fuselage on the port side, with the FLIR on the starboard side. The main RADAR is the AA8ADR4-N. It provides a 160 degrees field of scan with a general range of 250 kilometres, or the pilot scan switch to 30 degree scans of 500 kilometres. It is an extremely powerful RADAR which changes frequences 80,000 times per minute to reduce the chance of interception. A single processor designated AP3A-N runs at 33 billion instructions per second. The processor easily takes in information fed to it by all the planes systems and shows it to the RIO in a way that can quickly be digested by the officer easily. Furthermore there is a rear mounted RADAR, the AA8ARDR4-N that can watch the aircraft's rear for 150 kilometres.

The A7H2 is highly maneouvrable with advanced countermeasures to deal with incoming aircraft. As with many Questarian aircraft agility is a key doctrine so the A7H2 is an extremely agile aircraft, helped by its thrust vectoring nozzles, that can climb and dive extremely fast. Techniques such as advanced blip enhancement and devices to jam missile terminal homers help keep the A7H2 in the air. It may not be stealthy but its defences against missiles are highly potent. Basic measures such as chaff are even employed to enhance survivability. When incoming missiles are detected the processor advises the pilt on a course of action (which he does not have to follow) via electronic defence, such as jamming or blip enhancement, which will usually be followed up by basic defence such as chaff and then skilled dodging from the pilot.

The armament consists of the Type 42 22mm cannon with 200 rounds, 3 internal hardpoints and 6 external hardpoints, 2 of which can be used to house extra fuel tanks to buff the already good range of the aircraft due to the super-efficient engine.

SWORD BEACH CLASS HELICOPTER ASSAULT CARRIER
Overview: The Sword Beach Class is the dedicated landing ship for the IQN's Special Naval Landing Forces, able to deploy a brigade of marines from helicopters and landing boats to land and secure beaches. As well as the HELOs capable of carrying 40 marines into battle there are 12 fast landing ship scapable of carrying the same number of marines each to storm beaches. Light artillery can be transferred by the HELOs from the ship to support beachheads, as can trucks, jeeps, and some light tanks.

The Sword Beach has command rooms and capacities to launch a full marine assault on its own without any support and it can provide replenishment to troops on the ground for at least two weeks before they need other sources of replenishment.

10-06-2007, 07:48
My initial requests may seem fairly outrageous to you, but I am gearing up for a major campaign and the Imperial Military needs to be ready.
The Greater Empire of Segamu is currently engaged in a war on the nearby continent of Asiatica...well, not a war, a slaughter-and-conquer spree of nearly defensless nations. The reason for this started with Communism. A nation once called Chonqing (now Furun Territory) suffered a Marxist rebellion. That made us nervous. We finished our campaigns against two nearby kingdoms on the mainland before moving in against Chonqing and the Communist revolutionary government. We continued to take territory to ensure that the men responsible were killed. We now hold the territory under the Imperial Tribunal. And we may have declared war on a very powerful nation across the ocean recently. However, they need to get to us first, and that is where this vast shipment that I request comes in.
Our economy is not completely free-market, but the government is controlled by the Navy and a group of seven Zaibatsu and Keiretsu (family-owned and public-forum banking, industrial, and marketing firms). These seven corporations, each controlling hundreds of "constituent chains," are essentially free to act without government interference.

Another reason that we need these weapons is, we have allies that need to be armed and ready to take on the oppressors from across the sea. 'Nuff said.

We would like to inquire information regarding the Nagato class battleships and their avalibility. We are currently in the market for a be-all replacement for our fleet carriers as we retire them, and the currently proposed approach to this is to aquire a form of battleship-carrier hybrid. Our naval industry is unable to produce the size of ship that would be needed for such an endeavour, so we have begun looking to the great naval powers of the world. Naturally your ship yards have come with great esteem to our considerations.
What we are looking for, and what we are hoping you may provide us, if not with the Nagato then with another large ship, is a heavy battleship platform capable of being modified with a carrier deck in the aft section, with a hangar deck below it. The aircraft being operated would primarily be VTOL aircraft for ASW operations and our FJ-14 naval fighter. Such a system would need arrestor wires for recovery of the FJ-14, preferably in some form of angled flight deck, and a ski jump style point of take off. Further all electronics and weapons systemks that could be matched to current Sumerian standards should be. We realise these may be extensive modifications to an already superb design, but it is something we believe is important to our naval capabilities. So, simply put, we are inquiering if Questarian industries would be interested in producing this type of vessle for us, using one of your supurb ships as a base. If interested we are quite willing to pay for the vessles over several years starting with the laying of the first vessel's keel and completing when the final vessle is delivered.
In total we believe we will be needing eight ships of such a type as well, if that is reasonable.
Please get back to us as convenient to you regarding this matter.

SS-42 STOCKBROKER STANDOFF ANTI SHIPPING MISSILE
SS-42E SOPHOMORE ELECTRONIC WARFARE STANDOFF MISSILE

The SS-42 STOCKBROKER is an anti shipping missile designed by Aichi. Similar weapons are the ZMI Khan and the Ahab, both of which Aichi claim are inferior to STOCKBROKER's capabilities. It can be launched via ship or land and an air launched version is reportedly in the works.

The SS-42 STOCKBROKER was designed as a Standoff weapon in the late days of the QC-NATO war to engage enemy fleets at long range, out of SAM range. The SS-42 uses its 2 solid fuel boosters to accelerate to 31,000m altitude, too high for most fleet based SAMs to engage. It is guided to the target by GPS and RORSATs and can be assisted by all manner of airborne RADAR.

Within 120km of the target it begins searching for the largest target it can find, unless program to search for something different, with its own STAR guidance system [STandoff Active RADAR]. It will then turn its RADAR off after finding the target and use inertial guidance to guide it to the next attack stage. At 75km it will then flash its RADAR again and begin accelerating for the terminal dive, activating its third RAMjet (the other two are for cruising) to achieve Mach 5.4 at 35km where it will turn nose down for the dive.

At this point it switches to IR/LIDAR for final guidance to the doomed target at 1,654 metres per second. It takes approximately 19-25 seconds to hit the target from the beginning of the dive, depending on the angle. The 550kg penetrator plus the velocity of the missile creates a formidable penetrator, even without the 1,600kg warhead. Estimates and wargames predict that a single SS-42 STOCKBROKER accompanied by an SS-42E SOPHOMORE can sink or disable a Nimitz carrier.

As it dives, the missile releases four ECCM/EW pods that mirror the RADAR signal given off by the missile's active RADAR. Automated chaff is attached to the missile underneath its wings which drop at a rate of one per second during the dive. The missile can also be used in a more expensive ECM variant which projects RADAR images of nine other missiles and acts as ELINT and electronic warfare; actively jamming enemy radars, gathering intelligence to guide other accompanying missiles, and projecting more missiles to create an image of a larger attack. This is known as the SS-42E SOPHOMORE. Its cost is 38 million USD.

D3A2 / Ai-23B/G Suisei (Comet) Air Support/SEAD Aircraft

Overview: The D3A2 / Ai-23B/G is the Navy / Army's primary air support aircraft capable of traditional CAS roles and SEAD. It was developed and heralded as a great success for Aichi, its main assets being the sturdy airframe, the capable avionics and weaponry and, the engine, which Aichi worked with Mitsubishi-Supermarine on. The turbojet produced gave strong speed, range, and climb - all the IQNAS/IQAAS's favourite factors, but while being efficient at its task hogged tremendous amounts of fuel. The engines were easy to mantain, were cheap and easy to produce and lived through the harshest winters, but were always hated hot climates. When tested in Azaha in the desert the technicians reported that the engines disagreed with the heat and the cooling system, already ineffective, found itself to be overwhelmed in the blistering desert heat.

Armament-wise, the aircraft's typical loudout consists of 2 missiles designed to take out hard emplacements of heavy tanks - the AG-R-30K WALLET Air to Ground missile. These were mounted on the wings as where the AG30K WHOPPER Air to Ground Missile. The AG30K weighed 70kg and was stacked in groups of three, using its millimetric wave RADAR to scan for the best place to strike a target. The advanced electronics staggers the missile hits rather than simulatenous strikes which would make the attack lesss effective. The AG-R-30K weighed 200kg and was a single missile that was designed to knock out extremely heavily armoured targets. Three 500kg LGBs were mounted and a pair of radiation missiles to take out RADAR - these and the AG-R-30k were essential in the SEAD role.

However, they could also use the AGC250, an air to ground submunitions which dropped 30 bomblets and 200 anti personnel mines used specially for cratering runways. They could also hold the ATCW-45 (Anti Tank Cluster Weapon) which was a 300kg cluster bomb that dropped 150 fragmentation bomblets designed to hit enemy armour and armoured targets. A single 5000lb bunker buster could be held internally known as the ALASETO (Air Launched Anti Static Emplacement Timed Ordance) that could penetrate 2.8m of concrete.

The SP-21 bomb was also used to deliver chemical, biological, thermobarics (especially napalm and FAE), and small tactical nuclear devices. It could be mounted both internally and externally. D3A's dropped VX in the path of retreating Mountboard troops and were also used to deploy napalm and defoliatiers on the large forest where the rebel troops hid. In case of a tactical nuclear exchange the D3A's would provide the airborne strike against large enemy formations.

Large ECM batteries and thick armour mixed with a sturdy airframe increase survivability. The pilot is seated in a titanium bathtub with a super-quick response ejector seat. The FUJA-56AE ECM pod is a highly capable electronic countermeasure device. Receiver equipment and antennas are mounted in a fin-tip pod while jamming transmitters and exciter equipment a located in under-wing pods.

M3F2 Shiden (Violent Lightning) Naval Strike Bomber

Overview:
The M3F1 – Missile Bomber, 3rd in Service, Fujisama Aerospace developed, 1st Series, was the first indigenous missile bomber used by the IQNAS. Previously, Space Union aircraft had been used, but as the carrier fleet went under massive expansion, it was clear these aircraft cost too much for the amount needed. The A-4 Skyhawk was produced and used alongside the Space Union aircraft, though in much larger numbers, under the designation M2A1, as Aichi offered to produce them. About half were modified to carry a pair of large missiles, while the others used several exocet-sized missiles. It was clear, however, that the M2A1 was outclassed, especially in payload, and a new aircraft went under design. Thus, the M3F1 was born – Fujisama Aerospace Corporation [FSAC] won the bid – the M3F1 could carry at least three heavy missiles capable of penetrating heavy armour or sinking escorts quickly and easily.

Thus, the M3F1 went into mass production and on the eve of the Great War, 2,920 of the Navy’s 4000 bomber squadrons were using the plane – the rest were still using the M2A1, though they’d continue to be upgraded until the M2A1 was eventually brought out of service. They served with dignity and distinction until the wars end and for many years later. The aircraft lacked stealth features and it lacked fast speeds, and maneouvrability wasn’t one of its fortes, so it was vulnerable to fighters, but given an escort, the M3F1 was a capable aircraft, with the ability to launch exceptionally powerful missile strikes out of the range of many seaborne SAMs. It also had an extremely long range – over 1000km combat radius. Coupled with a missile with a 200km effective range, this helped bring the IQNAS, for the first time in history, into the first and foremost strike arm of the Navy, with the Fleet Battle Arm in second. Over 400,000 were produced.

As well as its missiles, the M3F1 was armed with various countermeasures and ECM, the most advanced that could be afforded, to make up for its lack of stealth. In addition, extra fuel tanks could boost its range by 320km, giving the aircraft a total of 1220km range. This great strike distance was one of the primary reasons that the M3F1 became so popular; only the biggest anti shipping missiles, with the size of an SLBM like Khan could hit an aircraft carrier carrying M3F1s.

The primary armament of the M3F1 was the AS-29 missile, specially designed for this aircraft as it was the primary carrier launched strike aircraft. The AS-29 was also mounted on the modified A4s in Navy use that couldn't be replaced before The Great War started. The M3F1 usually carried a load of three AS-29s - one internal and two external, or four, all external. It rarely carried five, apart from very important missions, since the weight of all five hampered the aircrafts maenvourability and speed. The AS-29 was equipped with ECM and other countermeasures to 'fool' SAMs and other interception devices.

Max Effective Range: 300km
Effective Range: 210km
Propellent: Two stage solid fuel rocket motor
Warhead: 330kg HE, 70kg tungsten penetrator
Guiidance: Active radar or anti-radar homing

At launch, the AS-29 has two methods of delivery: climb and cruise to 20,000m, out of the range of most SAMs, then terminal dive at 50km within range of the target, at speeds in excess of mach 4. Alternatively, the missile would cruise at its maximum speed of 3700km/h until within 60km of the target, when it would begin to slow and drop altitude to 25m. For the final approach its speed would be maintained at something like 2000km/h before impact. Usually in large strikes both are used, though when attacking carriers the preference goes to the high altitude method, for obvious reasons.

M3F2 Naval Strike Bomber:
A mark two was quickly put into production but didn't arrive in time to see combat in the war's opening stages. The airframe was strengthened using better quality materiasl and construction and a new missile was designed to be used. The engine was more efficient and the avionics superior to the F1. The range was extended by 100km by enlarging the fuel tanks.

HIEI CLASS BATTLECRUISER

Overview:

The Hiei Class Battlecruiser is the third largest vessel employed by the IQN and enjoys a "parade ship" status, flying the flag in many parts of the world because of her graceful size, speed, firepower, and good lucks. The designing capabilities of Kure Naval Yard's Takagi Hata, Quester's leading battlecruiser designer, culminated in the epitomy of NS battlecruiser design. Those who hate the battlecruiser will look away in disgust, but those that still believe the idea true, look no further than the Hiei class.

PRATCHETT CLASS ESCORT FRIGATE

Overview: The Pratchett is a lightweight frigate designed to escort battlefleets and individual ships alike. Though its armament is small, it makes up for it in speed, active protection, weight, and cost. Though the Pratchett is many times smaller than some foreign escorts, it is also a lot cheaper and both of these mean that several Pratchetts can be deployed to just one foreign escort. The Pratchett is excellent when mixed with heavy destroyers like the Shark and Hayasuke, and it performs best in the Anti-Air Warfare role, although it is somewhat multipurpose, lacking most in anti submarine, though this is the role of the Shirune Light Destroyer.

Type 52 5.56mm Assault Rifle
Overview: The Type 52 is the standard assault rifle used by Storm Companies and by the SNLF on occasion. What it lacks in stopping power and accuracy it makes up for in, again, ease of production and ruggedness. The weapon is generally light and easy to hold but has been classed as inferior. Questarian troops usually try to ditch the Type 52 at any opportunity - SNLF prefers to use the Type 50 and Storm Companies prefer to use the Type 60 and Type 92.
