This thread will be the dumping ground for OOC Notes for the Project Constellation R&D Thread. Anything discussed here for the project or over an IM program will be incorporated into the IC roleplay of the thread.
I've been looking to replace the F-1 Banshees I've been operating for a while now, so would I be able to butt my ugly head into this little project?

Definately, the aircraft itself uses a large portion of the F-1C Banshee's airframe and design in its construction, although greatly improved with new materials and the like. You're welcome to send an Air Force/Navy Aviation/Marine Aviation team to see the development.
Excellent! There might be some competition between myself and Russkya, though, since I see he's researching into cannons. I'm actually working on an aircraft autocannon prototype at the moment, so it might get interesting.
That is possible. Unfortunately my only real experience with aviation is in terms of gun armament, so if at some point we go: "But we could combine the two," it would likely result in some kind of "Uberdeathmachine."
Which is not a bad thing.
Not at all.
However after conversing over IM, Aequatio would prefer to go with your system. Mine's a little too experimental, considering it uses a caseless round to save space and such.
I am, however, working on some avionics. I should have a post up soon with my team arriving, etc. This is what I have so far for a concept for the cockpit.

Needs alot more work, and I'm getting rid of that compass thingy in the middle and replacing it with buttons, controls, etc. I'll include all the minor stuff like that which the pilot would need on the HUD. I'm thinking of going with an in-visor/helmet HUD, but I dunno on that just yet.
All right, we'll run with my gun. I've got no real experience in Avionics (I know what works, but I can't really fidget with them to make them better besides number-wanking) so it's good that you've got a take on that.
The only reason I'm not using caseless rounds is because I can't find a viable MT solution to them in a large caliber weapon. I can find it for a small caliber Infantry arm, but it's still not the best idea for reliability reasons - some of which don't affect an aircraft at all. Hmm.
That's outside the purview of this thread though. If I could work caseless ammunition into this design it would be flawless for the gun, because we'd not have to worry about spent shell ejection or storage.

It's nice to have all aboard for this project. I just got home from work and a two hour trip, so I'm going to bed, I'll try to post again and figure out just exactly what I'd like to do here.
