Official Imperial Communiqué

The Imperial Monarchy of Alacea

To: The World
From: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Alacea is about to have its Presidential elections. The Imperial Senate has motioned that now is the correct time for international endorsements to be recieved. The official election day shall be on June 2nd, 2007.

The two main parties expected to be the most popular is the Alacean Libertarian Party and Imperial Conservative Party. Their representatives are (for the ALP) Gordon Barkove and (ICP) Cullen Clairon. You can view even more information and info on the other main parties (The National Liberal Party, the Green Environmentalist Party and the Communist Party of Alacea) here (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Alacea#Parties_.26_Politics).

Monetary endorsements should be directed at parties and are not to exceed 500 million Dracos (roughly 900 Million USD).

Also, I bid you adieu. After this final few days, I will not be the Minister of Foreign affairs. Happy endorsing!

Salutations,
Alexander Salem
Minister of Foreign Affairs

OoC: Is there any way, other than by donations, that foreign governments can influence elections in Alacea?

Also, in reference to the maximum placed upon monetary support, could we use the loophole of organisations affiliated with, but not controlled by, our government to bypass the cap?

IC:

We've donated 450 million to the Imperial Conservitive Party of Alacea, for it is most aligned with our current ruling party, the Royal Conservitive Party of Calizorinstan, and we wish the ICP luck in the election's ahead.

Well, you could offer a few thousand workers or something to help with campaigns, etc.

As for a loophole, you may be able to get a few million extra dollars in, but the Alacean government may get suspicous if a bunch of corporations etc. started pumping up a party with funds.

IC:

TO: Calizornistan
FROM: The Imperial Conservative Party

The ICP thanks Calizornistan for its support.

[...] have yet to actually explain their stances on the issues plaguing the nation - hazardous working conditions, poisonous substances in the (Human) foodchain and the excessive amount of crime (A problem the Post-German Republic suffered itself immediately after the 'Switch', although it's no longer an issue).

Certainly, Alacea seems to be a far cry from the stereotypical 'Fuck you, Citizen' corporate nation, given its not entirely inconsiderable expenses on welfare and healthcare, areas where the Post-German Republic could actually learn from them. However, quick analysis suggests that despite these efforts, living standards for the part of the population 'Enjoying' a rather limited income are questionable.

Strikingly low spending on education, combined with above-average efforts in terms of healthcare and welfare, which appear to be sinkholes showing little effect - the former could be taken care of by spending a mediocre degree of attention to the environment, the latter has historically been unnecessary once the population was equipped with the means (Education) to work in an ever more competitive world. But which parties would be willing to tackle these issues, and which ones would rather go on as they go on now?

It seems certain that in the absence of a relevant green party, the administration of the Post-German Republic would be most happy to see a Libertarian/ National Liberal coalition (Unlikely as it seems in the political environment present in Alacea), but whether such a government could actually achive something remains questionable. The Government of the Garvik announce that they have sent D5M to our brothers in the National Liberal Party in the hope that Alacea may return to a more caring form of Government.

The Calizorinstani Times, page 4...

"And certainly the Imperial Conservitive Party of Alacea seem's like the best bet, if were were to guess who'd win the election's, we'd say the ICP of Alacea. They are most like our current ruling party, the Calizorinstani Royal Pary in political view's and action's which is why, we'd cast our vote for the ICP, in fact, the Goverment, has sent over 1.2 billion dollars in funds to the ICP in hope's we'll gain a friend if they're elected to power in Alacea. More on pg.5, Alcacean Elections."
